Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mumoverseas · 09/01/2009 05:25

morning LBB, you are up early today! couldn't sleep either? (or excited about shopping?)
Have fun x

littleboyblue · 09/01/2009 08:01

Morning. Couldn't sleep. Went back to bed at about 5 and kind of dozed.
Dp's just called me and told me to do all the boring stuff like pay council tax and car tax, pay off the last on the telly etc. and to remember to leave enough money in account to eat for next four weeks and enough to pay mortgage on 1st. How boring!

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2009 08:14

Morning all

Blood pressure was fine at the hospital despite being there over 4 hours...... Typical, but got to be checked. Had a bit of protein in my urine, but they obviously aren't too bothered as my next appointment is in 2 weeks with CMW - one week before the big day!

I also don't need practice on sleep deprivation....but its my DH moaning about my snoring that is keeping me up.....well last night I ended up in DDs bed (she's still in a cot in there and her bed is our spare IYKWIM) at 2am. So she she goes for a nap today, so do I and sod the housework!

Glad you're home MrsY

Lets hope all these bugs are out of the way before the LOs start turning up...

lardybump · 09/01/2009 08:15

morning all. DD is ill again. She woke up at two this morning coughing her little heart out. She has a nasty cold and cough and she sounds really croaky...... So we are staying in today!!!!

I only put her in the bed because we will need the cot for new baby and dont want to make any real changes when baby comes as I dont want her to feel pushed out in any way...

Still awaiting my physio on NHS spotty but MW if very cross now so hoping to hear from them really soon...

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2009 08:16

I've lost my wash bag (only used in October!!) and my head hugger for the car seat and its doing my head in trying to remember where I put them......

can't finish packing without either of them!

littleboyblue · 09/01/2009 08:27

LMN Glad all is well. That's what I've been doing about the housework, not much at all. My mum always tells me not to worry, it'll still be there tomorrow!

lardy Sorry your dd is unwell again. That's what I wanted too, to free up the cot for new baby without causing jealousy with ds but couldn't face it after a couple of hours. Ds's cot is a 3-in-1, cot, bed and sofa, so it's quite big so we'll prob just buy another cot and let him keep his one till he's about 5 (not in cot form obviously)

spottyshoes · 09/01/2009 08:38

Lardy STILL??!!!! That is appalling! and to think I used to moan about the pain and having to waiting a few days I hope she gives them a complete bollocking and you get an appt asap! And bless your DD

LBB my DH has been doing OT for 3 months but not to help out with baby or me being on ML....he's getting himself a new car. Am a bit as I did offer to get him one when I changed mine a couple of months ago and he was adamant his was fine (male pride i think). Now his has gone to pot and I never see him as he is always at work!

Glad all is well LMN. Had to LOL as I have a head hugger and foot muff but cant find the car seat - not sure how that is possible

Morning MOS - you well?

Right off to get brekkie and see if we can face Storytime at the Library, may just fall back asleep [yaaaaawwn]

rosieposey · 09/01/2009 08:41

Morning all,

glad to hear mrsy is out of hospital and doing ok. LMN thats good news that your bp is staying nice and low and lardy sorry to hear your dd is unwell - its horrid out - quite right to stay in today.

Just a bit of light organisation today i think then i will cook a couple of meals for the freezer - think im going to try and do 4 or 5 extra a week then ill have enough for when i come out of hospital. I really really cant wait for this to be over now - have always not been over enamoured with the final stages of pregnancy (even though with three inductions at 37/38 weeks i get away with not having to go the whole hog) and i feel really sorry for those that go over because id literally be climbing the walls! 4 weeks today is long enough ... i keep thinking, god a whole bloody month and im HUGE! Finding it really hard to get out of bed 5 times a night and know that there is the potential of getting even bigger as still a few weeks to go! Never mind, cant wait to meet lo now must not be so impatient!

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2009 08:51

I feel the same Rosie...the only thing that is keeping me sane is that it'll be over in 3 weeks....if I went 2 weeks over due it'd be another 6.........I just can't wait now.

DD is sending me mad already...(probably cos I'm so tired)...is it too early for a nap yet?

We have a 26 week wait for (routine) physio down here....waste of bloody time!

We bought a second cot for the new LO - the thought of a 19 month old roaming the upstairs in the morning is too much to bear....She's now in her new room and settled....and the nursery is full of crap baby things waiting to be sorted

Sorry DD is ill Lardy....I'll be staying in today as well...very icy outside!

dinkystinky · 09/01/2009 08:59

Morning all.
Glad everything was ok LMN - long may it stay that way! I agree - the housework must slide for oh, at least the next 9 months
Lardy - sorry your DD is ill (there are so many nasty lurgies doing the rounds at the moment) ; sounds like today is definitely a girlie duvet and dvd/CBeebies day for the two of you. Hope she feels better soon. I find manuka honey (really thick gloopy honey - tonnes better than infant cough medicine) really helps when DS has a horrid coughy lurgy. Glad your midwife is on the physio warpath - should hopefully get sorted in really short order now.
LBB - hurrah for all your DP's overtime! Most boring having to pay off all those pesky bills/taxes/mortgage payments, but I bet there'll still be plenty left over for a last minute splurge on the high street (particularly with those sales on). I meant to say earlier in the thread - my DS is also a dinosaur obsessive (though he loves the Aliens loves underpants version of that book too) and he really loved the "Dinosaurs Galore" book when he was younger too - if you dont have it would recommend borrowing it from the library to see if your DS likes it.
Rosie I agree that the last few months of pregnancy can start to feel like abit of a marathon slog - but remember, the end is in sight and it will all be worth it!
Cant believe that after today I only have 3 weeks left at work (though is so quiet at the moment - no corporate deals happening as I think everyone still on holiday/hiding under their duvets in the hope the recession may go away - that its hardly taxing at the moment)...

MarkStretch · 09/01/2009 09:07

Morning all

I am staying in too today. Just took dd to school and now I am going back to bed (and getting paid for it if you think about it!)...

Feel like I should be doing some preparation cooking but I just don't have the energy at the moment.

rosieposey · 09/01/2009 09:10

Oh bless you dinky ... is a bit rubbish still being at work though! Three weeks to go and then a nice substantial amount of time off work i hope!?

I am rubbish at being preggers anyway and usually moan the whole way through lol i have had a relatively easy pregnancy this time with no bad complications apart from the diabetes which i was expecting anyway so cant really complain too much and fingers crossed all will be well for the next 4 weeks. I know i should make the most of the peace though as have completely forgotten what having a young un around is like cant wait though If i hadnt had so much to organise since i found out i was pregnant in June i would have been climbing the walls by now so thank goodness for
weddings and suchlike!

dinkymum · 09/01/2009 09:12

Hello everyone! Hope everyones ok. I know it's late but congratulations to TBM hope all is well!
I'm sorry I havent been about if anyone can remember I ever was that is! lol
I know its probably too late for me to
really be part of things now. But just wanted to wish everyone look and say hello!
Not long now!
I do check in on here alot but I can never find the right time to jump in or think of the right thing lol
So far touch wood all is going to plan for us, I did have a low placenta at 20 week scan but this has now moved up. They did think baby was going to be big but now they say maybe just a bit bigger than average (not sure what they class as average! lol)
We're having a little boy but not really any names yet! eek. Just started to think about packing my bag too. but I think we're getting pretty organised as far as other things needed. Famous last words im sure lol

Hope everyones ok! best go DD is being a monkey! and begining a trail of destruction lol

Take care big hugs x

littlesez · 09/01/2009 09:12

I was the only one on my own last night! but people did talk to me, hubby has promised he will be there next week. I am so grumpy today dont know why well hoping midwife app will cheer me up as ill be able to talk more about my home birth and stuff.

ordered a birth pool in a box, looking forward to that and got everything ready now. Apart from the cooking and freezing of meals? not sure i can be arsed might just make people bring food before they are allowed to enter if they want to visit!

herbgarden · 09/01/2009 09:21

Morning all.....I've managed to get a second hand cot off a friend which is one reason for me keeping him penned in a bit longer- ds has a cot bed so it'll last him years and by the time no 2 is old enough then who knows maybe we might put both in bunk beds or something. I s'pose it's a harder decision if you have an over 2 year old and a cot - you hardly want to buy another one when they'll be out of it soon...

Anyway, not sure what's going on with me today but I woke at 2am feeling very nauseous - dropped off again and woke at 4am and threw up quite horribly. Felt rough this morning 6ish when ds woke up at but managed to doze next to DS from 7ish whilst he watched Peppa Pig on DVD. I then threw up again after I'd managed to chuck a bowl of cereal at him...I wanted him to be distracted so he didn't get scared hearing me. Dh has gone to work but told me to phone him if I couldn't cope....- aren't men hilarious sometimes. I could call on my mum but last time I did that she ended up getting it and I don't think that's very fair on her.....I think we might just have to slob out and watch TV together all day and all guilty feelings of over exposing a 2.5 year old to the telly will have to be shelved.....For now I'm just sipping at boiled water (find cold water from the tap makes me feel sick)

laidbackinengland · 09/01/2009 09:28

Hi dinkymum ! Feel free to join in as and wen you can. Littlesez, glad people talked to you and gald your man will come with you next week. Great to hold people to ransom when they visit you " a casserole or no entry !!".

Second the manuka honey for sore throats. Although DS2 has a tendency to invent a sore throat for a moutnful of honey now !

MarkS - enjoy your relax. I have just put DS3 down for an early nap and DS2 is going to a friends house after school, so I have lots of time to slob about get organised today.

I am definitely getting some ripenening feelings in my cervix, I was 16 days over with DS3 (my choice not to be induced) but I have a sneaking suspicion that this one might put in an earlier appearance.

MrsY - hope you get your laptop fixed soon- glad to hear you are back at home.

laidbackinengland · 09/01/2009 09:30

herb - a day watching tv with your DS is fine when you're feeling poorly ! Hope you feel better soon.

herbgarden · 09/01/2009 09:31

maybe that's why you're feeling a bit down littlesez but at least people were friendly. I used to say to close friends and family in the early days that they were more than welcome to come over but if it was lunch time, I wouldn't be running round making sandwiches and stuff for them....most of them offered to bring stuff anyway...but I made sure I had plenty of biscuits and cake in - those little tubs of flapjack and stuff from M&S were really useful.

Very of you being able to go back to bed MS - DS now has his kitchen/garage and all the bits strewn all over the lounge floor. It's going to stay that way too. I'm lolling on the sofa chatting to him so I can rest.....

thehouseofmirth · 09/01/2009 09:42

Morning! LLB, Spotty & MOS sorry to hear the sleepless nights are kicking in already. I have so far not been affected but it seems every time I think "at least that's not happening to me yet" it instantly kicks in so I expect I'll be at the laptop in the small hours too soon. This sleep deprivation preparation kind of makes sense with your first pregnancy but frankly the second time round it really is most rude and unnecessary, isn't it?!

LLB I am very of your windfall. Enjoy your retail therapy!

Spotty I'm not at all prepared for the VB but I'm getting there! Reading lots of books in bed on breathing etc as homework and hope I'll be feeling ready/ier when the time comes. Am still a bit worried about the logistics re DS as we have no relatives to look after him and at least the CS would have been guaranteed to be during the day. But have come to the conclusion that we'll just have to cope when the time comes. Which is hard for me because normally I'm a bit of a control freak.

What are everyone else's plans for older ones when they go into labour? Do you have comprehensive plans covering all possible scenarios or are you winging it too?!

Herb sorry to hear you're feeling rough but this is what DVDs and cBeebies was made for I am sure!

Laidback what do ripening feelings feel like?!

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2009 09:42

Poor you Herb ....sounds horrible.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing....let DS get on with it and you lie on the sofa.

LittleSez....I went to AN classes on my own last time as DH refused to go....although I wasn't the only one on my own, but one of the few. I made him come to the hospital (all day) one though and apart from the tour of the delivery suite and PN ward, he hated it.

I think - looking back - he was a bit in denial and probably a bit squeamish - although he didn't admit to it. I did have to sit him down and say, look, if you really don't want to be there, that is fine but I need to know so I can rope my mum in....but he was fine, wanted to be there. And when it came to it, he was fab and said he wouldn't have missed it for the world. He did feel a bit useless though I think, and he was almost as relieved as I was when I had the epidural . MMmmm sorry, went off the subject there a bit.

littleboyblue · 09/01/2009 09:43

Thanx dinky, going to library today anyway to renew my book and pay late fee, so will have a look for that.

dinkymum good news about the placenta moving up.

littlesez I always say, you know who's had babies and who hasn't, those who have brig food, those who haven't bring flowers, like you need something else to feed and water!
I can't be doing the cooking and freezing stuff (did it for ds when we weaned), so I buy micromeals from tescos, 5 for £4 or something. This is not the healthiest household

My mum's having ds all weekend. We're droppuing him off this afternoon/evening and collecting him sunday afternoon ish! Can't wait, really need the break, gonna watch the sex and the city movie I think and try to ignore the decorating dp and dad will be doing.

Should I be concerned that ds just brought me my pink fluffy handcuffs?! Haven't seen them for ages, wonder where he found them
I'll add, we've never used them..........a friend gave them to me for a birthday a few years ago

chilledmama · 09/01/2009 09:49

oh herby - do hope you're feeling better soon.

Not at work today as DS is on day 2 (usually his worst) of high temp and doesn't want to eat or move or do anything other than watch Nemo/Cars/Monsters/Shrek.

I woke up with sinucitis down one side of my face during the night...NICE. This morning my nose is just streaming so I feel justified about not being at work. Fingers crossed, if we stay in all day we should beat the worst of it.

Going to look for some nappy stuff now!

dinkystinky · 09/01/2009 10:01

Welcome back Dinkymum - despite our ever expanding size there is always room for one more...

Herb - sorry you're feeling rough; boiled water sounds a good idea and DVDs/TV and letting DS wreck the joint is perfect. Hope its just a 24 hour thing and you're feeling much better this time tomorrow.

LittleSez - see, its not so bad going on your own. Though glad your DH is going with you to the next one - is important that he gets to get an idea of what is coming too.

Chilled - sorry you're suffering too today. Steam inhalation is good for sinusitis (used to be a martyr to it as a teenager). Enjoy the dvd day.

THOM - our plan is nanny (but she's away the first 2 weeks of Feb) - otherwise its a mixture of my sister (never looked after DS on her own before but at least he knows her), MIL (lives in Brighton so at least 2 and a half hours journey to us) or neighbours at a push. Am sure we'll cope. Does your little one go to nursery? You could see if a nursery worker she's familiar with could help out.

Neeerly3 · 09/01/2009 10:06

eeeek! Just seen thread about packing a hospital bag and it's got me panicked!

What do I need? I have a day at home minus the kids today, so would be perfect time to get started.

So far I have:

2 x nightshirts for birth
a semi outfit for baby (was given cutest all in one at xmas!)
nappies

I didn't have a hospital bag last time, DH just grabbed a load of stuff when he went home after the DT's were born, plus we weren't taking them home so he only packed for me.

fgpl · 09/01/2009 10:15

herb... so sorry you are feeling so rough. I do hope it passes soon. Keep sipping at the fluids. Don't worry about ds watching tv. I have been guilty of this on really tired days and
Littlesez, am also sure thats why you are feeling a bit down.
I have felt a bit like it is dh and ds against me and bump in our house recently but last night dh opened up the pack of nappies I've bought and spent ages gushing over the tiny size, which made me well up to be honest. Then this morning ds insisted on giving me a kiss and a hug then hugging and kissing "my sister" (my bump)on his way out to nursery with dh. This was emotional enough then he picked a little flower from the hedge and came back and gave it to me " cos you are beautiful mummy"
Sorry to be all smug and gushy ladies when so amny of you are feeling so crap and tired but had to share with someone.[embarrassed]
I am planning a cs so hopefully will be able to get to that point and can go into hospital with dh after dropping ds at nursery.
My mum lives 3 miles away so would call her if necessary any sooner, but still a bit anxious about it all really.
When I had ds dh was 400 miles away and mum was on holiday, we lived 30 miles from hospital and drove myself in at midnight. Arrived and promptly fell apart. Didn't call hubby till the morning as was worried about him driving at night with no sleep. It was totally awful, but at least I didn't have other dc's to sort out.
I hope you can all get sorted with childcare where neede, it really is a worry, but hopefully will all work out ok.
