congrats TBM... and well done to Carla for hanging on so long

hope all went as smoothly as possible and you'll all be home soon as a family finally.

shattered fter yesterday and seem to have picked up a tummy bug as have a really upset tum.... kung fu panda is being paticularily obtuse too, had to go back to bed for a while which i've never done in my life except for migraines. tonnes of shopping to do now as the cupboards are bare... what fun

turkeyandherbstuffinggarden · 02/01/2009 13:49

Ooh how exciting for TBM. Congrats all of you.

Just been for my 34 week appointment at the hospital. All seemed fine and we think baby is head down (altho' having c-section so this isn't so much of a problem) - but I was feeling quite uncomfortable so it must be a foot in my right hand side they think. Have my post op chat on 26 January. It's going to be here before we know it.

Had a nice early night and long sleep last night to make up for our disruptive NYE. DS slept for Britain but still seems quite tired. Nice to have a day pottering round the house.

mumoverseas · 02/01/2009 14:05

with all the excitement earlier I forgot to say good luck KT with your move, hope it goes ok and you don't overdo it. It will be lovely for you having a fresh start and new baby and I'm sure you'll meet loads of people because of your little one. I hated it when I moved last (to saudi) as I didn't have my little one and my two eldest were at boarding school in the UK so no real excuse to mingle but I can't wait to get out and about with little one when he arrives. Where is it you are moving to KT? You should check out whether there are any local NCT classes or similar. Good luck x

nkweto · 02/01/2009 14:09

just got off fb.. and Congratulations TBM and Fifi.. I feel quite emotional too..

All, thanks so much for the reassurance, feel better today and in 'polar bear' position whenever I get a chance! What is an ECV .. it sounds a little painful

KT - good luck on your move !

Mrsy - it must be worrying but, it sounds like you are getting great care

Mamagoose - My super-energetic phase seems to have gone now and luckily.. DH seems to be nesting for me. He deep cleaned the kitchen and cleared all the bathroom clutter ! feel very grateful today..

wow, cannot believe we are having babies...

nkweto · 02/01/2009 14:37

Dinkystinky.. forgot to mention.. sitting polar bear does transform me into a giant climbing frame for DS ... v.funny

Herbgarden when is your CS scheduled for ?

MOS, hope you have settled in back home now... think you went back a while ago..but I have not managed to keep up with the thread !

elkiedee · 02/01/2009 14:43

Congratulations TBM and welcome Fifi, hope all is well.

KT1983 · 02/01/2009 15:09

Hiya again - Thanks for all the good lucks DP is doing all the big stuff today, while i stay in London finishing the flat up - Then he will be back tonight to load up the van for tomorrow morning - early start to get out of London before everyone else gets going on the roads.

MOS We are moving to Kettering, easy comute for DP to london & his family only live 20mins from the new house.
My mum lives in the Lake District, so much easier for her to come see us in the new house as im sure her visits will be plentiful with the first Grandchild on its way

Right - Off to scrub the bathroom & then chill out before DP gets back.

If I dont get on here again for a while its cause of the broadband at home. Apparently it takes 7days to get going. So sit tight with all your bumps ladies - Chat soon xx

littleboyblue · 02/01/2009 15:17

Just seen a message on FB from TBM, 4lbs 8.5oz isn't too bad a weight is it? She said a bit smaller than expected, but that weight is closer to 5 than 4 so fantastic! Can't believe we've started popping! Who's next?

Had 34 wk check this morning, got to clinic, went in, all lights off and a sign tapped to front dest saying "Clinic closed today due to staff sickness" Yes I did yell a very loud FFS Says to call on monday to make another appointment but we have scan thing anyway so imagine they'll do all checks there anyway so just need to find out when I'm next supposed to be seen. Did anyone doubt me when I said there's always something?
Just came on quick to get an update on TBM and Fifi, better go coz I told dp to go tesco while I changed bed and haven't started yet
Oh bugger, and his neice has just signed onto msn, I'll never get away now!

nkweto · 02/01/2009 15:34

LBB.. what a pain, dp you get another appointment or do you have to wait for the 36 week check !

MarkStretch · 02/01/2009 16:22

CONGRATS TBM AND HELLO BABY!

Wow I couldn't get on here until now and I missed all the action!

I AM NOW ON MATERNITY LEAVE WOOOOOOOHOOOOOO!

I officially finished today, handed back phone and laptop and all paperwork. My team took me out for lunch and gave me a bottle of champagne and a pamper voucher.

Oh and more good news, the Virgin man is coming to move the broadband point next week so I should be back up to my usual 23 hours of MNing per day, phew.

Hope everyone is well!

CalicoisCrackers · 02/01/2009 17:23

Big congrats TBM!!!!! Wow it's all for real now that the first one of us has popped!

Lucky you MS - I've got to work till the end of Jan.

LLB - what a pain. I managed to forget my midwife appointment last week - whoops!

littleboyblue · 02/01/2009 17:41

Yes, it was a big old pain in my side when I got home. I won't bother making another 34 wk appointment as they'll prob check bp and the like when I see consultant on monday, will call and find out when next appointment is to be though.
Just been on FB, TBM says she'll post the story for us when she isn't doing it on her phone. They think the baby is Called Sian Anne, she doesn't look like her sisters. TBM and Fifi are still on different wards.

eejaykay · 02/01/2009 17:48

Hello strangers

Congrats to TBM! I'm so glad that all seems to be well.

Hope everyone else is doing OK - its been a right old round of lurgi and worries, hasn't it? Christmas and New Year were lovely if ever so slightly stressful - I'm enjoying a couple of days vegging out before back to work for the final 5 weeks and then maternity leave. My only news is that I'm being sent for a growth scan in 10 days time, which was a bit of a surprise, but am taking heart from people's experiences here as ever - it's probably nothing, and if it is something, then they'll pick it up and be able to treat it / get Fatso out early. Don't think it will come to that, though, he's wriggling about like nobody's business.

Fingers crossed for you MrsY, hope you can keep seeing the belly twitching even if you can't feel anything. Big grins at everyone else, I'll try and keep up this time!

MrsNewYear · 02/01/2009 18:14

Thanks all - it's strange to be able to see her move but not feel it, but it does mean I have an idea of what it's like for John...

BTW - for those not on fb, here's the latest from TBM

"Thanks all :-) I'll post the story when I'm not doing it on my mobile. I'm feeling a bit fed up, there's only one ward she can go on other than NNU but there's no beds there, so she's in NNU and I'm on a different ward and only seen her for 5 minutes out of 12 hours. Hoping we can arrange something soon before I'm up. She's gorgeous but we don't think she looks like her sisters. Think her name is Sîan Anne Denise..."

MrsNewYear · 02/01/2009 18:16

DOH - just seen your post lbb!

littleboyblue · 02/01/2009 18:18

Hehehe MNY

pluto · 02/01/2009 18:39

TBM Warmest congratulations on the arrival of Sian - I'm sure there'll be plenty of cuddles soon I'm going over to Facebook to check out pictures now - I bet she's gorgeous!

Nkweto - my baby is transverse too, has been for as long as the MW has been able to feel him / her. I have a big exercise ball thing to sit on as suggested by my midwife and I also need to do the getting down on all fours thing but that really isn't as much fun as the ball! The baby spinning website is great.

PinkPoinsettias · 02/01/2009 18:47

well i have maternity pads so i'm officially ready to have this baby [taps fingers and looks at watch] anytime you're ready kung fu panda...........................

my mother has come out with a gem.... 'i was thinking it would be handier if [dp] dropped the children round to ours on his way to the hospital so you should really pack a bag for them too'

on his way to the hospital? am i driving there myself in labour then? and what about coming home? their house is 15 mins off the main road between us and the hospital so in total adds more than half an hour to an already long drive with a new baby, and means coming home with all the kids at once instead of the older 2 being home where they're comfortable and us intorducing them to baby on home ground. coz unpacking for 4 of us instead fo 2 would be so great when i'm sore and wracked with afterpains!

have told my friend and once she stopped laughing she told me to ring her anytime day or night and she'd come over to sit with the kids.... ridiculous that i have to ask when my parents are 20/30 mins down the road though!

good luck with the move KT, make sure dh does all the hard work while you 'supervise' and don't kill yourself trying to get things sorted when you get there, take it easy.... your health and baby's health are far more important than everything being in the right place

thehouseofmirth · 02/01/2009 19:14

Ok so the big qurestion - what are wearing to give birth in?! When I had DS, having nothing better to do on maternity eave I spent hours trawling the shops looking for something to wear. I then spent hours sewing little buttons on to the front of a turquiose kaftan that I'd bought...only to labour in a vest top and nothing else. This time I thought I was having a section so didn't give it much thought apart from to think how vain and stupid I'd been last time but now I find mysef starting to obsess again! I went to Primark today hoping there might be somethig in the night shirt line but they were so hideous I couldn't bring myself do buy anything. So, what are your plans?

MarkStretch · 02/01/2009 19:22

Good question THOM, I have been thinking the same myself. I was going to go to Primark but I can't bring myself to purchase a nighty.

I don't even like the word. But I know I have to.

I went to Tescos today and they have nice soft 'yoga' pants and hoodys £9 for a set. They have black, dark blue, grey, etc so I bought a couple of sets for afterwards. Have to look my best when I am receiving visitors!

Plus I'm hoping they will be comfortable and hide my general saggy-ness somewhat.

littleboyblue · 02/01/2009 19:23

HoM I went to Primark when packing bag for having ds and got some nightshirts with little buttons down the front, I packed 3, one for birth and then 2 for after but ended up wearing absolutely nothing!!!! It was so hot in there, I got to the point where I didn't care and just striped off , they did however put a gown n me when they wheeled me to theatre obviously! Haven't packed my stuff in hospital bag yet, should get a move on really!

oooggs · 02/01/2009 19:24

Super Duper News TBM - welcome to your new daughter and fantastic that she made it to 2009

littleboyblue · 02/01/2009 19:25

Can I just ask, is it a good idea to have stuff with bottoms incase of CS? I've not had one so don't know what I'm talking about, but is it not better to have a long t-shirt or something so you don't have to wear anything over scar site? Or am I being silly?

thehouseofmirth · 02/01/2009 19:39

No, I think logistically, while you're in hospital, in terms of c section wounds and also access to ya bits for mopping up blood (nice) trousery thigs are not the best. Until I got up the next day to have a shower I wore the same vest top I'd given birth in and I don't think I had anything else on apart from knickers because I think they regularly needed to check my blood loss as I'd only just missed having a haemorrhage.

thehouseofmirth · 02/01/2009 19:43

But a T-shirt's not much use for BF in.
