How lovely. They are both ok then? Fantastic news.

OH MY GOD WE ARE HAVING BABIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!

dinkystinky · 02/01/2009 08:59

Morning all. Nkweto - they wont keep you in hon but may discuss options with you if little one is transverse - get into polar bear position as often as you can (which will give little one space to get into head down position - though your DS may be tempted to climb on you while you're in it!), try TBM's ice cube trick once you know where the head is to get it to move and lots of lying on your left hand side will prob help. What Onward said about second babies flipping all over the place right to the end is absolutely right, so please try not to worry too much.

LBB - poor you, seems like you're destined not to have any sleep at the moment! Hope you get a nice nap in today and that the bath helps with the backache. Warm hot water bottle on your back may help too.

HohoHOM - most amused at your dream. The ultra vivid crazy pregnancy dreams are so odd - the last time I had dreams like this I was on lariam (anti-malarial) sleeping on the jungle floor in Tanzania! There was only one girl in our group of environmental volunteers who didnt have crazy lariam dreams but did have the wierdest food cravings/fixation - turned out she was pregnant (so the craziness obviously offset itself!) Her little boy is 9 this year - god am old...

OMG! Congratulations TBM & Family!!!!!

I'm actually quite emotional now - it's all so real!

We better start an 'arrivals' section at the top of our due dates lists when we know more details.

dinkystinky · 02/01/2009 09:01

Wow - cross post with LittleSez. CONGRATS TBM ON FIFI's ARRIVAL - she's the first of the Fab Feb 2009 babies! Hope all is well and you're both recovering well from the birth. Sending you lots of happy hugs.

KT1983 · 02/01/2009 09:43

Just reading back through posts from earlier - Ive been having weird dreams too. I had one last night, that my waters broke in the middle of the street & I had grey tracksuit bottoms on & everyone thought I had just wee'd myself as I didnt have a bi enough belly to be pregnant!
Then trying to get hold of DP was very unsucessful! weird....

I think I have a bit of anxiety about Dp working in London still & commuting everyday - I have this feeling my labour will start when he is at work. Il be in my new house 2 hours away....Scary thought.

LittleMissNorty · 02/01/2009 09:50

KT I had this worry when I had DD. As it happened we had plenty of notice as contractions went on for hours before anything remotely painful happened. My waters broke the night before as well.

I woke up on the Friday morning and said to DH to stay at home as I's been having quite strong contractions regularly during the night. he spent the day watching Sky sports and I spent the day upstairs pacing around with Tens, in and out of the bath etc. We didn't go to hospital until that evening, so he could've gone to work after all!

There are not many people who do it all in 2 hours flat!

KT1983 · 02/01/2009 09:54

LMN - I always wondered what way it went...Wether you get contractions & then the waters, or waters & then contractions? I guess its different for everyone?

should you not go to hospital as soon as your waters break? Or do you just call your midwife & let them know?

Sorry for all th questions....everything about labour is coming to the forefront of my mind now

AlexanderSantasmum · 02/01/2009 09:57

Hi,

TinkerBellesMum (TinselBaublesMistletoe as well!) has sent a message to me this morning to say her baby was born at 3:44am! No other message but she said to let the Feb 09 group know.

Will come back and update if there's any more news and will be checking in case anyone else has an update! BY the way, I am not pregnant myself but know her through BLW and SANDS and my LO was born at the same gestation as Tink.

Best wishes to all the other mums + bumps!

LittleMissNorty · 02/01/2009 10:13

My waters went at 6pm Thursday eve and, yes, you need to ring labour ward. They asked about the colour (as if its green tinged with meconium, its important to get in quickly) and asked me to go in (wearing a pad) for monitoring about 9pm. Which I did.....my bump was a lot smaller. All was ok, they swabed me for strep B and told me to go home and come back the following day for more monitoring and if nothing 24 hours after that, back Saturday am for induction (due to risk of infection). Contractions started early hours of Friday though.....every time I moved, I lost more fluid as well . I rung the hospital again the next morning, and they told me to stay at home as long as I could etc as things were obviously happening naturally.

When I did finally go in Friday eve, I had to have IV ABs for risk of infection, but otherwise, all as usual. DD was born Sat 5am.

HTH....I remember all these sort of questions and concerns myself.

LittleMissNorty · 02/01/2009 10:14

btw, I'd also had a show the week before (at 37 weeks)......textbook order....although its not like that for everyone.

KT1983 · 02/01/2009 10:22

Thanks for the info - Im obviously very nervous about it all...but I think Im more excited that in 5weeks or so, il have my little girl in my new home

I cant believe how different this year is going to be for us.

laidbackinamangernocribforabed · 02/01/2009 10:35

Congrats to TBM, hope you are all well and releived to meet little fifi !! Well done for making it to 2009 !!

KT as LMN says it can happen in any order. With DS1 my waters broke at the start of labour, with DS2 I had ARM well into established labour and with DS3 I don't recall them breaking at all, although he was very overdue and I had a rapid labour.

We are having planning dilemmas re. this labour due to speed of last one. DH is finishing work on 16/1 for 6 weeks and my mum is arriving to stay for a month the same weekend. But if this baby decided to make an appearance before that date and DH is at work/surfing or anywhere more than 10 minutes away, I could be labouring by myself, or even worse with 3 kids to look after !! Most of my local friends have kids so they aren't really in a position to 'drop everything' . I am pouring my positive thoughts on baby being born at night after 17th January !!

MrsNewYear · 02/01/2009 10:39

Hi all...

YAY TBM - glad to hear Fifi is safe. Congrats to the four of you.

We were back to hospital again last night. I'm gonna be going in twice a week from now till birth to monitor her. It's a pain, but obviously worth it, if it keeps her safe. Some of the kicks last night must have been so strong; saw my stomach moving and the midwife and I both felt her with her hands on my stomach, but I felt nothing... I really miss feeling her squirming away, I'm worried I'll loose my bond with her.

KT - there's never a pattern, a friend's baby was born in his waters, like an astronaut's helmet!!!

not sure what happened there...

AlienSwampMonster · 02/01/2009 11:37

Congratulations TBM!

catstar · 02/01/2009 11:39

Wow - Congratulations to TBM!!! Hoping all is well with mum and Fifi - will be checking in for updates...

KT - good luck with the move today and what an exciting start to 2009, a new house and a new baby! I had a similar experience to LMN with DD - my waters breaking were the first indication of labour (3 days overdue). Called hospital and went in for a bit of monitoring and then home until established labour, but not beyond 24 hours due to risk of infection. I remember the losing of fluid every contraction and every movement - very messy and a bit weird! Also had AB's on drip as there was merconium in the water towards the end.

Morning Nkweto - this LO is also transverse at the moment and I find the movements really uncomfortable. Am really trying to entice him to go head down to get a bit more comfortable. Little O was transverse until 37 weeks then moved of her own accord.

Does anyone know what the time limit is for ECV (external cephalic version I think)? MY friend had hers done successfully at 34 weeks and was told that any later than that would be liekly to be unsucessful due to lack of room in the womb. Just thinking at my ante natal appointment next week I should ask if the hospital will give it a go.

MrsY - glad you are being closely monitored as it must be disconcerting not to be able to feel the movements.

Dreamy ladies - am with you on the vivid dreams thing, but most of mine seem to be saucy ones about the men at work and believe me, in RL I just wouldn't!

Having a very industrious day at work today (apart from this little break!). Only a few of us in so making the most of the peace and quiet.

Have a great day everyone - wonder if there'll be any more new arrivals when I next check in ..... .

MamaGoose · 02/01/2009 12:13

Hello all

Just calling in to say hi! Wow, am so pleased TBM finally had Fifi and made it this far!!

KT1983 - with my last two, my waters didn't break until I was fully dilated and started pushing so it really is each woman to her own!

I seem to swing from being mega-energetic and super-nesty to being unable to move from the sofa. It's clearly all gearing up for the labour. Am 36wks today so only a week to go until I am technically term! Yippee! Also starting to suffer on the sleep front and have chronic backache at times.

Am so excited for everyone - we're having babies in a few weeks!!!

x

MrsNewYear · 02/01/2009 12:31

Catstar it just feels wrong not to be feeling her...

A friend of mine had her CVS at 38 weeks. in our area, they wont do it earlier than 36 as it can often spark labour off. She had her CVS on the Monday afternoon and little one arrived in the early hours of Thursday morning.

spottyshoes · 02/01/2009 13:05

I had my ECV at 37wks as they said that a) it could start labour b) any earlier and the amount of room left meant that it was very likely that baby would turn back again. If this one is breech I wont be having another ECV as it was EQUALLY as painful as the CS recovery!

I dont know anyone in RL who had the text book: show, waters break, contractions. Most have gone whilst in transition.

Mrsy how totally bizarre that you can see your stomach move but not feel her - that must be so freaky. Have they any idea what's causing it?

Good luck moving KT.

I need to start nesting. House a mess, no labour bag, baby clothes not out of loft etc etc and WE ARE STARTING TO HAVE BABIES! Please kick me up the bum someone!
