Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PinkPoinsettias · 01/01/2009 13:56

omg! can you believe we all made it to 2009!!!!!!!!!

although my entire household seems determined for me to have this baby today dd saw me packing my hospital bag (round of applause please for actually doing it in the end ) and combined with the fact that granny and opa are visiting today has decided i'm off to have the baby now, ds wants to come with me and when i announced to dp that i'd packed my labour bag he jumped up and screeched 'fuck! you're in labour?!'

stayed up til 2am as well and then couldn't sleep due to acid reflux and now have to cook dinner for us and my parents.... fabulous

happy new year all

chilledmincepiemama · 01/01/2009 14:11

happy new year everyone

onwardandmerrilyupward · 01/01/2009 14:17

I heard the new year's fireworks at midnight... they woke me up! I would say "I rolled over and went back to sleep" but my girth is such that I have stopped rolling over, I just lie on my left side all night. So I plumped up my pillows and went back to sleep

Here's to a baby-filled 2009!

laidbackinamangernocribforabed · 01/01/2009 14:34

Happy New Year all ! My feet are wonderfully smooth I am going to get out some baby stuff later and move some of the boys clothes around to make space for it. We stayed up until 1 and then slept until about 6.30am. Then we a lie in each (in shifts) - which is the only way with kids !!

Hmmm, so which of us is going to have their baby first. And where is MsLucy, she hasn't been around for a while ?

TBM thanks for doing the buddy lidt - and Jelliebaby if you are out there, contact me via facebook. I too hope to be able to post fairly quickly if this one is born at home. I did it within a few hours last time after I'd had a little sleep and a bath.

laidbackinamangernocribforabed · 01/01/2009 14:35

list not lidt... my fingers are a bit random today !

PinkPoinsettias · 01/01/2009 14:42

oh yeah, forgot to say... TBM, you'd better take me off that buddy list. like i said on FB, dp barely rings the parents, there's no way in hell he'll ring a stranger in england for me!

i'll be out of hospital before you miss me and probably on here during labour so you won't miss much and if things do go pear shaped i'll bully dp into posting on here so ye know.

dinkystinky · 01/01/2009 16:29

Happy new year lovely ladies - and welcome fgpl.

Catstar - you must be shattered now; hope you get some napping in today with Little O. And also really hope your MIL gets well soon.

TBM - thanks for doing the list. Will get in touch with MsLucy via facebook.

MoS - your neighbours sound as bad as Markstretch's! Hope you get a much more peaceful night tonight and they're now all partied out for 2009!

LBB - takeaways MUST be open on New Years Day as half the population must be too drunk/hungover to cook! DH has just taken DS out for a trike ride (still boycotting the microscooter, ho hum) to see if our Sainsburys local is open - if not, fear we will be joining you on the takeaway front...

Spotty - am only 32 weeks too. Will be you and me left on the thread hon, chuntering away to each other, while all the others have graduated to the dark side (aka the postnatal threads...) I even suspect I may be waddling around into March if this baby is as late as his brother was...

KT - you are so brave moving at this stage, but all that space will be amazing, babies are a great way to make new friends and on the plus side, you'll be channelling all that nesting into your brand new home . Hope all goes well with the move on Saturday. Remember - get broadband sorted in your new place asap so you can get back on here!

Questionkid - so sorry you're having a worrying time with bloodpressure and "PE" mutterings. Please try to take it easy - as keeping worrying about it wont make things any easier for you - and do nice things for you and the baby (new haircut, manicure, massage, chill out to music - all those feel good hormones for you are good for the little one too).

Had a v quiet night last night - home cooked lamb rump and feta, almond, rocket and pommegranate salad (My token attempt at domestic goddessness for the whole of 2008 - DH said it was restaurant quality [preen emoticon] but I think that was his attempt to entice me to cook again tonight - am wise to his tricks) followed by figs and nice pasteurised cheese for dinner while watching Bringing Up Baby on dvd - love those old screwball comedies (used to watch them with my mum and dad when little so they always make me feel happy). In bed by 10.30 (so in awe at those of you who lasted out till 2!) but periodically woken up by fireworks - had lovely early morning walk on Hampstead Heath today though so feeling v virtuous, but obviously not as virtuous as KT with her early morning run!!

dinkystinky · 01/01/2009 16:31

Ooh - also meant to say, Markstretch - most impressed at your DH! No way I'd let my DH lose on my nails, let alone my ladygarden... and Laidback, I definitely need one of those ped things. May be my 2009 gift to myself...

turkeyandherbstuffinggarden · 01/01/2009 16:54

Hi all and Happy New Year to you !
I've got that 4pm Sunday feeling today. It's dull outside, we've just come back from friends in London and DH and DS are cuddled on the sofa watching a war film. We're all hanging for an early night.

NYE with our friends was great....until all four kids (5 and 3 x 2.5 year olds) who we'd smugly got off at 7pm all sound asleep, one by one woke up just after midnight and the whole evening descended into chaos. I was the only sober one. I ended up taking an hysterical ds back to bed (he woke up due to the fireworks) where he kept calling every 10 mins from his bed "mummy are you here" so in the end decided just to go to bed (there was a lovely load of cheese waiting downstairs and one of our mates had spent hours putting a quiz together) - dh had buggered off downstairs again so I was imprisoned in the bedroom with ds....who screamed every time I made a move to the door. All our friends were directly under our room having a good time (quite right to) so then I couldn't get off to sleep. Nothing like hearing the party and not being able to join in. I got a bit tearful at that point......oh dear ! DS then woke at 5.30am and came into our bed shuffling around for the next hour and a half telling me to shush every time I was dropping off in and out of sleep as apparently I was snoring too loudly!!

Anyway, everyone was a bit worse for wear this morning, so we carted the kids off to the park on their scooters and then off for a pizza at lunch, the boys played a quick half round of golf and here I am now.

Also suddenly feeling very nervous about no 2's arrival. It all seems so real. One of my friends was quizzing me on how I felt about it at lunchtime so I think it just highlighted it even more.....

It'll be an early night for me tonight - 34 week check at hospital tomorrow morning.

QuestionkidMerrilyOnHigh · 01/01/2009 19:43

Thanks Dinky, I've been relaxing like it's going out of fashion. I'm still down in Devon staying with my parents post-xmas and the most active thing I've done in the past few days was to walk down into the village to watch the annual new year's day duck race! I've haven't got any of the symptoms of PE (apart from the high BP) so everyone seems to think that I just have high BP and that it won't develop into anything. Fingers crossed anyway.

Almost forgot, happy new year everyone! I was fast asleep and woke up at 10.00 this morning feeling well-rested and hangover free. I love being smug.

I can't wait to get back to London actually, I'm really ready to start getting everything well and truly ready for this baby including washing all the clothes, packing the hospital bag etc.

littleboyblue · 01/01/2009 20:22

KT Good for you goimg for a long run! The major advantage of moving now IMO is that with a new baby, you can meet new people and make 'friends' in no time. Once settled, get in touch with HV and they can give you info on local mother and baby groups and if you can get along to them you'll meet loads of mum's in similar situ to you......

My dad got ds one of those plastic table and chairs thing from ELC for xmas, couldn't get it in the car when we came home so collected it today, got back to set it up and the table hasn't got any bloody legs! The boxes were all sealed and I didn't think about checking it, so driving back to Putney on weekend to take it back. Hope they swap it ok, must have happened with manufacturers but hopefully won't be any probs exchanging we have the receipt.
Had a wierd thought today, we mc in April (fell preg straight away) and it dawned on me that if that one had stuck, we'd have number 2 now..........think due date was 27/12. How mad is that?
My friend today told me I look ready to drop and her dp has predicted baby will be herew in 2 weeks, he says there's no way it'll stay in any longer as am huge!!!! Unless they induce, think this one will go over like ds though.

McDreamyingofawhiteXmas · 01/01/2009 20:26

Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe we are all going to have a baby next month, some of us this month!

My new years resolution is to meet some people! Have had a lovely 3 weeks off with DH but he starts his new job on Monday

dinkystinky · 01/01/2009 20:30

LBB - you never know! My friend was induced with her first - her second was due in mid Feb and decided New Years Eve was a good day to emerge (totally unexpectedly). Babies come when they decide too. Though I'm with you on the being sure that my no 2 will be v late as DS was so late coming out so have had to keep reminding myself of my friend's story too Also, while scanning the childbirth thread saw those other posters being abit rude/stroppy to you on the CS big baby? thread - having read other posts/threads they've been on, am pretty sure they have their own issues to deal with so are projecting their fears/disdain on others - ignore them and stay with us nice fluffy people. I've had plenty of friends tell me I should be asking for a CS with this one (am 5ft4 and normally 10-12 and bump is huge already - I just smile and tell them that this baby will come out one way or another and if it ends up as a C-sec so be it, but I trust in my body to be able to grow a baby it can birth (it did last time round!) Best of luck returning the table and chairs - as you have the receipt shouldnt be a problem, but what a faff!

Questionkid - glad you are having a relaxing time; long may it continue

littleboyblue · 01/01/2009 20:40

dinky oh yeah, I forgot about that thread. I haven't looked atr it actually (might now) there was one person who came across a bit rude, but I was only repeating something that I'd been told that made me feel a bit better. It makes me laugh that when people need advice and support, they expect reassurances but when they answer someone else they feel the need to be overly rude and think it's ok to scare living daylights out of people. I mean if you talk about having a big baby, who needs horror stories? Why can't people just give honest but supportive advice?
I do actually see a logic in what TBM said about the more to work with, her analogy about holding a tennis ball to a football was an interesting point.......Nevermind, I've been put through worse when I get my oar out about ff abd bf, and how I chose to prepare bottles for my baby, not anyone elses. No biggie
Thanx for that though x

littleboyblue · 01/01/2009 20:44

Anyway, Eastenders now and gonna have a night off and show dp some attention, although not too much as don't want scares as some of you have had

dinkystinky · 01/01/2009 20:51

I agree with you - honest supportive advice is the way forward (and even if is honest non-supportive advice being given, there is definitely something to be said for remaining polite when you give it). Enjoy Eastenders - all soaps are on my cant watch list at the moment as pregna-brain means I keep forgetting what happened last and what the ongoing storylines are... oh well, guess something had to give

pluto · 01/01/2009 21:21

Happy 2009 everyone. I was a total saddo last night: steak and chips supper with a lovely glaass of red then straight to bed with ear plugs in at 10.30pm. It was bliss! We are still in decorating and nesting chaos here - it's only two rooms but you'd think we were doing the whole house the amount of stuff we seem to have had to shift and sort. Anyway, it'll look lovely by the end of tomorrow and then I just need to work on DH to do the hall stairs and landing which now look completelty grim. Perhaps that's a job for mat leave for me but I don't fancy the big drops and ladder climbing (at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it).

Had a lovely day today taking DS to the Brooklands Museum which is full of racing cars, motor bikes and planes. Small boy heaven!

nkweto · 01/01/2009 22:02

Hello ladies,

Sounds like we all had quiet but lovely New Years celebrations. We had a quiet meal, fell asleep before New Year! Had a small glass of cava with lunch today to toast in the new year, and DS1 even gave a little 'cheers' with his milk bottle.

I have a question for the pregnancy experts on here.. I have a horrible feeling LO is Transverse. All kicking/punching action is on each side of my tummy and I can't feel baby's back. In fact I only seem able to feel limbs! I have my 36 appointment on Monday, they can't do anything awful like keep me in can they ? Or am I making things up in a pregnancy panic

thehouseofmirth · 01/01/2009 22:12

Hi Nkweto. I'm no expert but no, they won't keep you in! Baby Father Christmas had been transverse for ages but when I saw the consultant the other week he was head down but consultant said second babies are all over the place and it can change right up to the last minute. It's probably worth having a look at optimal fetal positioning though.

nkweto · 01/01/2009 22:16

Thanks.. just having a wobble I think! Will google 'optimal fetal positioning ' now....

littleboyblue · 02/01/2009 08:11

Morning all. Have 34 wk check with mw this morning.
Had the worst night sleep last night, I couldn't get comfortable and everytime I moved, I got a straining feeling in the side of the bump, like I'd picked up something too heavy quickly iykwim. Dp also decided he needed to lay mostly on my side and then got the ump whern I elbowed him . Got the worst back ache too, gonna have a warm bath before mw and hope that helps.
Hope everyone else ok and has a lovely day

thehouseofmirth · 02/01/2009 08:23

Morning! LBB must be a 34 wk thing as I've started to feel uncomfortable. Bit like I've got a bowling ball inside me.

Also the anxiety dreams seem to have started too. Dreamed last night I was trapped in Sainsbury's by guerillas after there was a complete breakdown in organised society. Well, I suppose it makes change to the one where you wake up searching for the baby in the bed...

littleboyblue · 02/01/2009 08:26

Haha HoM
I have really twisted dreams like falling down the stairs with pushchair at train station and baby falls on track, train comes........it's horrible, really detailed too. I got them with ds too but I'd be awake and would 'see' dp being shot in the street!! I think I need to be sectioned

onwardandmerrilyupward · 02/01/2009 08:38

nkweto - my midwife talked me right through where this baby happened to be at my last appoiuntment, and it was head down with back along my rhs, legs tucked right up like kneeling (so I'm feeling kicks on my rhs under my ribs) and arms flailing around vaguely near bottom left. and that was a lovely poition for him/her to be in (which (s)he remained in for at least 45 minutes ) so what you're feeling could be something similar.

But yeah, get ye to the spinning babies site!
