littleboyblue · 01/01/2009 08:35

Morning all. catstar sorry to hear about your MIL.
I wonder if Tescos is open today. I forgot yesterday that it was NYE and places would possibly be shut today. Better get a move on and go check.
Seeing mw tomorrow, the battleaxe one so hoping it's not blood test week.........
Also going to collect the new pushchair from my dads.
Feeling a bit more real about it today, I think coz you get loads of texts don't you saying hope 2009 brings you all you wish for/joy and happiness etc and I kept thinking, well yeah, I'm gonna have my baby.
Hope everyone has a lovely day

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 01/01/2009 08:42

Happy New Year everyone!

2am Catstar; that's very impressive! I forced myself to stay awake until midight by surfing baby name sites (still no name and have come dowstairs to find a note from DH with 2 more ridiculous suggestions). Then DS was woken by all the fireworks. I think that worked in my favour though as he didn't wake up until nearly 8am so I almost got my 8 hours.

Sorry to hear about your MiL Cststar. Hope everything gets better quickly. 16th Jan is not so far away.

littlesez · 01/01/2009 08:57

I managed 2am too! but woke up with tummy ache at 7am so very tired now, will probably go back to bed soon. Quite glad i went out last night was good, i was ready to come home at 1 and was pleasantly suprised that hubby came home with me, was expecting him to stay out and get drunk. He was very sweet though didnt even drink that much, its like he is growing up or something! He has changed so much this year gonna be a fab dad i think.

I was crying at midnight but i dont know why? just felt really emotional lbb think its what you said, people kept saying how 2009 was going to be such a great year for me and rob wiht our first babs x

littleboyblue · 01/01/2009 09:04

littlesez It must be something like that, our hormones and emotions are so confused right now. Yesterday I cried watching Sister Act 2, I actually cried twice and only saw the last half hour!!

TBM Thanx for drawing up the buddie list, good job one of us is organised enough to do that also glad we don't have to pick our own buddies, have horrific memories of always being picked last for sports at school. Very scarring!

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 01/01/2009 09:23

I cried yesterday watching DH playing with DS...

LBB, that's exactly what I said on FB last night (about not being picked at sports at school...) Yes thanks TBM. And thank you for choosing me! Hhat time is your section booked on 19th? Lots of us will hopefully be togther in London that day so I can stand up and make a big announcement!

mumoverseas · 01/01/2009 09:25

morning all, happy new year.
so much for my early night. DH and I went for a lovely meal at one of the restaurants on our compound then thought we'd watch a few dvds in bed then an early night. Our neighbours however thought differently! bloody arseholes, he is a mad scottish arse and she is a crazy bloody columbian who both like to party and they had a very loud party in their garden with sodding karaoke going on til 4am. Not impressed, particularly as we were up and out at 9am to go and do some shopping and can't hang around as shops shut for salah (prayer) at around 11.30am. Just back from shopping and imagine they will be festering in their pits for most of the day so doing lots of door slamming today.

Mrs y, please don't worry about baby not moving as much. laidback is right, nearer the due date the movements do slow down as she is running out of room and can't do aerobics anymore.
pedegg, I bought one of those in the states in the summer and it was fabulous. Shame I can't reach my feet anymore

TBM, you've got a good point about the GA. We have an appointment to see our consultant on Tuesday so will talk things through with him. He is lovely for a Saudi, very understanding. They do however have firm rules about husbands being present for GA and it is against hospital rules so I know they won't move on that one. Also, they have a policy of baby being taken straight to nursery after birth (all Saudi women have baby sent to nursery for their entire hospital stay then hand over to philipino nanny when they leave) last time my DH had to fight to get DD when she was born instead of her going to nursery so maybe I will have to try the spinal so he can be there and grab her when she comes out although the thought of more needles in my back (and long term paralysis afterwards) does scare me.

right, off for a nap to make up for missed sleep, have a fabulous new year everyone and well done TMB for making it to January x

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 01/01/2009 09:33

MoS I can understand the rule about DH not being in theatre for a GA (I thought that is still policy here?) but surely he can be right outside the theatre to do skin to skin with the baby as soon as she's born which will help with your bonding concerns and stop them taking her away to the nursery (how cruel!). Can't see any medical reason why they couldn't allow that.

MrsNewYear · 01/01/2009 10:15

I'M HAVING A BABY THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 01/01/2009 10:25

TBM thanks for doing that, the only thing i was going to say is that i have no idea who dizzybrummie is? I dont think i have seen any of her posts - perhaps i have missed them but i dont think she posts very often. ( Apologies dizzybrummie if you do and i have missed you! ) So i have no idea how to contact her through this thread. I will get DP to post on here or if im well enough after the CS then i will use his iphone and do it myself

Gosh some of you did really well for making it to 2am this morning ... i think i made it to about half 12 ish (posted on here then as was looking at baby sites too) but still didnt wake up till about nine. Im taking the Christmas tree down today ( bah humbug ) and will probably go for a nice little walk with DH, DC's and the dogs.

Yes well done TBM for making it into Jan, thats brillant going Your op is due just two weeks before mine and the 19th is DH's birthday so thats a lovely day for Fifi to be born

Its odd (and quite nice actually) not to have a hangover on NYD - last year DH and i were wending our way back from Cornwall in quite a sorry state (when it was safe to drive obviously) but i got quite emotional at midnight too as 2008 was the year that DH and i got married and conceived our little boy ... it was a very good year

MOS sorry to hear about your unintentional late night last night - id be very very loud if i were you today and with regards to your possible GA, talk to your consultant and see what arrangement you can come to because like THOM says perhaps your DH can be outside theatre ready to take charge of lo rather than being whisked off. Its my biggest worry that i will have to have a GA as i dont want my DH to leave me even if i dont know about it!

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 01/01/2009 10:29

Was going to add too as ive just double checked back on your post TBM that i dont use FB quite as much as i should hence why i probably dont know who dizzybrummie is and i know you compiled that list based on FB, will have to try and get on FB a little more i think!

MarkStretch · 01/01/2009 10:47

Morning all

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here's to popping out some sproglets in 2009!

True to his word, DH painted my toenails and shaved the lady garden. I drew the line at the pile inspection. He's actually done a pretty bloody good job, far better than I can ever manage

Then we both fell asleep on the sofa and woke up to the sound of fireworks at midnight.

DD is still out at her sleepover and I slept for 10 hours.

My hips are killing me this morning though.

spottyshoes · 01/01/2009 10:47

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We were asleep by 10.30 as predicted although were woken every hour by people falling out into their gardens to sing. DH has gone to work at 6am rather knackered but DS slept until 0845 so I'm feeling pretty good! No hangover either

Congrats to making it to January TBM! We are ALL having 2009 babies - yay.

I was thinking you might aswell take me off the list/swap me with munteria as there is an odd number and I dont want someone left out without a buddy. I'll be in the next bed to txting Pinkspottywellies anyway. I'll still be your bud tho LMN if you want

MrsNewYear · 01/01/2009 11:05

Rosie - as far I as can remember, she's not on fb much, either. I think we've used the whole list and will make alterations as needed. So spotty, we should end up with a nice even number...

fgpl · 01/01/2009 11:38

Hi ladies.
Sorry to gatecrash but was just wondering if i can join in.
Relatively new to MN. Have been trying to follow the Feb 09 threads but keep getting lost.
Am 34 weeks today.Have been pregnant this time for an absolute eternity so am getting pretty fed up now. Have a 4 year old who is pretty lively to say the least and is very much a spoilt daddys boy, which makes it so much harder for bad guy mummy.
After following thread feel glad that am not alone.
Was in bed at 9.30 last night so bit of a party pooper i'm afraid. First NY in about 20 years not had a hangover. Worrying thing is I feel really hard done too by this.
Anyone else feel pleased that they can look forward to having a guilt free glass of wine or two this year, breastfeeding allowing?

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 01/01/2009 11:47

MrsY thats good - we can swap around as needed - im happy to alter with whoever in order to make sure that when babies are here your'e the first to know!

Fgpl welcome to the thread and happy new year to you! Yeah as odd as it feels to not have a hangover today i did feel a bit sniffy at midnight when i could hear the drunken (and fun) corousing in the vicinity. poor you at feeling fed up - did confess to midwife at joint clinic appt yesterday that i was starting to really feel it now, its getting harder to get out of bed at night and the sheer bulk of babyness is making me really uncomfortable - Im 33 weeks tomorrow and just feel that i couldnt possibly get any bigger

spottyshoes · 01/01/2009 11:52

Hi fgpl & welcome. I'm a bad guy mummy too! as my DH gives way to many treats so I feel like I have to be a bit boring sensible to even it out iygwim!

I'm having a glass of wine today with my rosemary and garlic roast lamb and it will be guilt free despite being pg I have gone along the 'odd glass occassionally' route once past about 16wks.

I'm of all you earlier febbers as being at the end means I'm only 32 weeks! Chatting to all of you 34/35/36 weekers makes it feel closer than it really is for me!!!

littleboyblue · 01/01/2009 11:58

Hi fgpl Welcome to the thread. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't have a good old drink yesterday too, although \i didn't even really think about it til it was too late or would'vr had a glass.
Well as everyone can guess supermarket closed, so don't know what's for dinner!!
fgpl I think I'm going to be the disiplinarian(sp?) in this house too, although dp gives a half-hearted "No" when ds does something, he only ever listens to me! Ds is a bit of a daddy's boy which I'm quite pleased with as it'll hopefully free me up a bit in the early weeks for the new baby and working out our new routine . That's the plan anyway.............

LittleMissNorty · 01/01/2009 12:09

Happy New Year everyone

My Sainsbury's is open LBB......as are most shops in town. Just about to go out and get milk....

DD slept in till 9.30am this morning.....

LittleMissNorty · 01/01/2009 12:10

Sorry....welcome fgpl ...I'm 34 weeks as well....you need to add yourself to the latest list..

littleboyblue · 01/01/2009 12:11

LMN I've got nothing for dinner. No having fish again, will have to send dp into town if he ever drags himself out of bed! Although about to get back in myself!

fgpl · 01/01/2009 12:13

Aww. Thanks. I guess it will be a bit of an advantage with my son insistent on being a mans man as me and the baby (a girl ) will get left too it a bit.
I may stand corrected but we'll see.
I can't remember feeling this big and whale like with my son. Nor the insomnia and indigestion but I reckon that is one of natures memory tricks to make you forget otherwise you may never breed again.
Hubby has just offered to take us to McD's for lunch. More as a treat for him I think. Daren't tell him I have just had the crunchie out of his selection box.
Really must stop eating rubbish. Funny how I was so careful with diet when pregnant first time. This time have thought stuff it. Lost loads of weight BF last time so can justify it.

fgpl · 01/01/2009 12:47

KT1983 · 01/01/2009 12:52

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
I felt very smug going for a early morning run today - The majority of people would stil have been in bed with a banging hangover!

Hope you all enjoyed your evening - Mine was short lived, we didnt go out, and was packing into the evening along with a takeaway - Then I was in bed by 10 - to be woken up by Fireworks at midnight.

Oh well - Plenty more new years to look forward too

DP has driven to his mums with a car load today - then picking up the Keys to new house & van tomorrow & back to london to pack the rest of the flat....and me.

Then its farewell London early Saturday morning - very nervous about starting a new life in a new place, new baby, no job etc...
I was also very emotional yesterday & this morning. DP try's to understand, but still questions why im upset/worried/anxious.

All will be well once settled in I guess. As soon as the move is done, its all stations go on the baby front

Have a good day everyone - Im going to crack on with the last bit of cleaning & packing.

MrsNewYear · 01/01/2009 13:09

KT I take my hat off to you! Early morning run, indeed! And although the move must be daunting and emotional, it must have it's advantages.
Firstly you get to make sure everything is in the right place before the new arrival. Starting from scratch and clearing out all the old junk must be a lot easier than finding room in an existing house. Plus, you've got things to keep you occupied while you wait for baby to show up. You can unpack and sort things out and discover nice coffee shops and places to go and things, rather than sit staring at a calender!!!! I'm sure that's what I'll be doing!

KT1983 · 01/01/2009 13:26

Yeah, thats very true MNY I am looking forward to getting everything sorted & knowing that little Poppy will have her own room when she arrives - My mum is going to come up and visit next week, so we can start to decorate

Our flat here in London is TINY, so the thought of having a whole big 3 bed house with a garden is very exciting.
