Just read TBM's update. Hope everything ok.
littlesez This baby's initials will be LAP and everyone has told me not to do it, but I want a special middle name and they are only really used for official documents so I wouldn't worry or is it Isabella-Rose as a first name? But then I'm sure people wouldn't make too much of a big deal. It's a very pretty name by the way

littleboyblue · 30/12/2008 07:51

Morning all. Am 34 weeks today! Yay.

spottyshoes · 30/12/2008 08:36

Morning - cant get on FB but hope everything is ok TBM.

Littlesez I have a similiar dilemma. We have a 1st and 2 middle names for a boy and am a bit undecided on the 1st middle as it means it spells a word. I think as long as it doesn't spell anything like Thomas William Antony Tiller then you'll be ok

LBB - dont get me wrong I'm not knocking the colour yellow at all (the room is actually already yellow!) You're right it is a good backdrop colour - infact going for the under the sea theme means we only have to paint half the room as the rest can be sand [lazy me]. I meant it in the term 'vanilla' as in everything you look at in 'neutral' is either cream or yellow. Am a tad frustrated by lack of choice.

Actually i'm that lazy that I'm debating doing a jungle/safari theme so dont have to paint at all Just stickers and a border!

spottyshoes · 30/12/2008 08:39

Congrats on the 34wk mark btw

and littlesez - have you thought about adding another name after Rose to break up the initials.

Really like the name btw. Isobel/Isabelle was in our top 3

KT1983 · 30/12/2008 08:43

littlesez Isabella is a lovely pretty name

Im not sure how our name came about - Whenever we had talked about our future & having babies, we always imaginedhaving a girl & Poppy was always the name that came up. So when we found out she was a girl, there wasnt even a conversation about what it should be. just the middle name that was undecided.

Im just watching GMTV - A lady was on the pill & got pregnant - Not just one or two babies....but bloody triplets!!! Imagine the

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 30/12/2008 08:43

Morning! Spotty, I may be silly but why do you need to decorate a nursery at all yet? Apart from the fact that afaik babies are not too hung up on interior design, surely your baby will be in with you for 6 months & by then you'll know what you've got! Or is it part of a nesting compulsion?

littleboyblue · 30/12/2008 08:44

spotty I know you weren't knocking the colour, wasn't trying to be funny, was just sharing what we were thinking
Know what you mean about it being a bit boring though. I hate all that magnolia business. My living room is magnolia and I hate it. Can't wait to decorate whole flat.
A friend of mine painted her ds's room yellow and she makes her own borders and features by cutting out magazine pics of her boys fav characters. When she told me I thought it must look really cheap and nasty, but when I saw it, it didn't look too bad, she says it's easy to change as well.

dinkystinkyclaus · 30/12/2008 08:57

Morning all.

Nice names MS and LittleSez (wouldnt worry about the IRA initials - by the time the little one gets to school no kids at school will even remember what the IRA was!). Am another huge one (kept being referred to as a christmas pudding by DH's family over xmas ) but I quite like being enormous now I know the end is definitely in sight.

Spotty, LBB - DS never had a nursery . He was just in our cappucino candy coloured spare bedroom (with some toys, his cot, our second double bed - which was brilliant for doing the night time feeds, a bookshelf and his chest of drawers) until we moved when he was 1.8 months into short term-let flat when he first got a room all to himself. Now we're in our house, he has his own room which is blue (it was that colour when we moved in) and is v similar to his room in our old flat - except no double bed in there. No 2 will (after spending a couple of weeks or months if he's less noisy than his big brother) be the same set up - in our spare bedroom (which is white) with some toys on shelves and the second double bed and a wardrobe until we finally get round to renovating the house). Felt kind of guilty at the time that DS didnt have a nursery but he seemed to love his grown up bedroom (or at least slept very well in it).

ps TBM - hope all is ok. Will try and get on facebook tonight to read your update - take care of you.

Gosh, triplets under any circumstances would be scary!

Liking all your names. Starting to panic that we're no closer to finding a name despite 7 months of discussion. Poor DS was nameless for several weeks after he was born and I really didn't want that to happen this time (especially DS is adamant the baby is going to be called Baby Father Christmas...)

On the paint colour front, have you thought of a warm lilac? When we moved into our house DS's room was painted that colour and although we initially thought it wasn't a good colour for a boy we've never got around to redecorating it but we've just accessorised it with boy stuff and it looks great and obviously you could also add girly colours too as appropriate.

MarkStretch · 30/12/2008 09:10

Spotty - Frankie (Frank) is my grandad's name and Laurence is my Dad's name. Not very original I know but I love both names and my Grandad is beyond thrilled about the lo being named after him.

Please everyone, print lists, I need lists, I can't remember for the life of me what to pack in a hospital bag......erm toothbrush?

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 30/12/2008 09:11

Is anyone else doing a Group B Strep test?

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 30/12/2008 09:17

MS my list in on FB.

KT1983 · 30/12/2008 09:18

ms really like the name Frankie

If we were having a boy, we were going to go down the family route too - Elliott ( was my brothers name )

Ive kinda read about the Strep B - But dont really understand it - Do you get the choice to be tested or not THOM?

Also, are you supposed to have more routine blood tests at 34wks? I had the 28week one for iron & anti bodies etc...Do you get that again?

dinkystinkyclaus · 30/12/2008 09:20

I've been told I'll have more routine bloods taken at 34 weeks KT - think is checking iron levels again. Cant say I remember having that done last time round so may be that different hospitals have different practices.

OP posts:
KT1983 · 30/12/2008 09:24

yeah, maybe. I see my new midwife when I move house next week, so Il ask him about it.
Am sue the docs would have said yesterday if I needed anymore.

KT1983 · 30/12/2008 09:25

Im bloody freezing today!!!
I went out for a run jog, early this morning & cannot get warmed up - Think a nice long soak is in order

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 30/12/2008 09:34

I'm not aware of more routine blood tests but as we know, every area is different. I keep getting conflicting info about seeing MW at hospital and Gps surgery so now seem to have about 6 appointments booked for next few weeks!

KT the NHS GBS test is not reliable but you can send off for a kit for a private test. This time round I was actually advised by my MW to have the test but it is totally your choice. The risk of passing on GBS to your baby is very, very small (but very nasty if they do get it) and if you do have it it will affect your labour as you will have to be given anti biotics.

Got my kit from here. More info here

KT1983 · 30/12/2008 09:36

thanks for that, il have read.

littleboyblue · 30/12/2008 10:03

I had Strep B test with ds. I spoke to mw about it as a friend of mine had recently hd a very premature baby due to the infection. Ds was born before I got results but assume it was ok?
They don't test for it in this country (uk) as it can come back pos 1 week, neg the next and so on, have read it's more if you have it at point of delivery where the danger is. mw also told me it'd be picked up along with urine tests but don't believe she's right as that would fall under regular testing.

chilledmincepiemama · 30/12/2008 10:20

littlesez-Why don't you say you are planning for HB. Then you can labour as long as you want to at home (more comfortable surroundings etc) and if you change your mind (at any point) you can still go to hospital!

dinkystinkyclaus · 30/12/2008 10:22

Quick question - has anyone else started dribbling/drooling in their sleep? Discovered I've started doing it over the last few nights (god only knows what am dreaming about) - yet another lovely pregnancy symptom

OP posts:
theHoHoHouseofmirth · 30/12/2008 10:22

The private test is done between 35-37 weeks. It can be picked up in routine urine test but not always. The other test is much more accurate.

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 30/12/2008 10:25

DSC - I'v always done that! Though was woken up by a giggling Ds this morning as apparently I was snoring like a pig!

MrsNewYear · 30/12/2008 10:46

morning all - just a quick update. went into hospital last night due to pains and baby not moving - they saw her move on the scan, but i didn't feel it. anyone had this before?

they think the pain is SPD, which I don't agree with, as the pain is across my lower bump, and they only said it after the third person in a row prodded my pubic bone and I winced (surely they realise if they keep prodding somewhere it will hurt after a while?) or does pain across stomach sound like SPD?

anyway, back into hospital for another scan shortly, if i can persuade my car to get moving.
