lixanismapolium · 22/12/2008 06:32

So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

errr that should read congrats - not calling anyone rats..honestly

TrixieBelden · 29/01/2009 17:27

Poor Evie2000 and TigerFeet - hyperemesis is appalling, I can't imagine what you're dealing with.

bigbang · 29/01/2009 17:44

Aw Tigerfeet, you poor thing. I had it last time round, it is awful.

I can tell you what I did, maybe some of it may help you. I drank flat lemonade by the bucket load, sometimes it stayed down, sometimes not. Ate when I could, avoided jobs/stuff that made me sick and slept when I could. I didn't have any children then and it was only me and dp to cope with though. I really feel for you

The midwife recommended I took an iron supplement too, she suggested Floradix. Its available without prescription, but is foul tasting in liquid form so I would try to get the tablets if you can, I couldn't get them unfortunately! I didn't have to go to hospital thank goodness, I think it was down to the lemonade. I wore sick bands ALL the time, don't think they helped much though.

Its great that you have been giving an antiemetic, I wouldn't expect a magic fix but it should help, mine did. Might be worth taking some vitamins or a pregnancy supplement too. My doctor told me not to worry about the baby, it will be getting everything it needs from your supplies at the mo. Have you been signed off work? Is there someone who can help you take/collect your DD from school?

I would def consider the acupuncture as the other thread suggests. I didn't do this (wasn't aware of it!) but I know people now who swear by it. It can be expensive but I think anything is worth a try when you have HG.

I started getting better around 14 weeks, the vomiting slowed right down. I was sick a couple of times a day till I was 23 weeks but it was manageable and I didn't need the antiemetic by then. I really hope you can find things to help you and you start feeling better, I will be thinking of you. Good Luck!

TigerFeet · 29/01/2009 18:10

THanks for the good wishes, Bigbang what a great post. I find that fizzy drinks stay down better than water or peppermint tea so I drink as much lucozade as I can manage. I'm taking a pg supplement already that includes iron but I think I may take an additional iron supplement as I have a tendency to have low iron levels anyway without all this to contend with. I'm looking into acupuncture so will report back as to how well it works.

I'm not signed off work as yet - I self certed last week then was back this week for a couple of days then off again today. I'll need a cert if I'm still not right on Monday. I don't really want to be off work but can't keep up the pace unless I can eat. In a way I'm pleased that dd is at school and I have some time to cabbage - I really don't know how SAHM's with preschoolers cope at times.

DD goes to a CM after school on the three days I work so I have carried on with that. She has her tea there so I don't have to cook for her on those days - all food avoidance is good atm

I was nowhere near this bad with dd, it has really come as a shock. I must be having a boy this time!!

Enough navel gazing from me... hope everyone else is feeling OK

monkeyfeet · 29/01/2009 19:10

Hello everyone

Had some bleeding over the past few days and went to hospital today for a scan, internal ultrasound! All is fine and saw the babes heartbeat, but is an internal ultrasound normal had no probs with dd 1 and am in Italy so don't know if they do things differently over here?

Anyway hope you are all doing well I am so relieved

StealthPo09IsHere · 29/01/2009 19:12

Oh Tigerfeet
Welcome to MummyWilliams, Gonnabamumma and HappyBump! Congratulations

StealthPo09IsHere · 29/01/2009 19:13

That's good news monkeyfeet

Snowy1 · 29/01/2009 20:37

Hope everyone is well today.

Thanks evie for the hospital advice. I went to the GP today and was asked which I wanted to go to. I had the choice of St George's, C&W, Kingston or QC. The GP wasn't giving me any guidance, just said they are all the same! I felt like I was making a really important decision too quickly but in the end went for C&W just because it is half way between work and home so probably easiest to get to appointments - no doubt I'll have a panic about it and change my mind five times before I even get to booking in!

StayFrosty - I've just started having sore gums when I brush. I didn't think it was pg related until I just read your post so reassuring!

AliBean · 29/01/2009 21:02

Hello all - can I join in please?

Am 8 weeks PG and have just discovered this thread. Baby due on 9th September so think I qualify!?

I live in Cornwall with DP and PFD (precious first dog!) and have 2 DSS from DP's first marriage. They don't live with us but spend as much time as poss here with us. I am 27 and DP is 45 and we are both totally thrilled with our impending baby...

I am feeling rather sick most of the time and am really struggling to eat properly so feel really guilty that I am not doing it properly! Toast and water biscuits is NOT proper nutrition!

Ummm don't know what else to tell you all...
Good luck to all other september mummies

Sails · 29/01/2009 21:02

Had a worrying few days. My sickness has stopped and have slight spotting/bleeding. Also tummy pains and pain in my "down below" region (sorry if that too much infomation!) Hoping praying its not another mc (had 2). After everything I have said I am actually begining to really look forward to this baby! Midwife said on tues that sickness is great because it means that hormone levels are really high. If thats the case what does sickness stopping mean?

lea1980 · 29/01/2009 21:10

tigerfeet
i am from the fat and foreign capital of lincolnshire!!!! (boston, arent i lucky!!) but at least the pilgrim has got quite a good maternity unit (even if it is older than the dark ages and probably hasnt been decorated since then!!)

smileycat · 29/01/2009 21:26

Hi Ladies
Just had my dating scan & they put me back 5 days. I was pretty sure of my dates but I guess I have to go with what they say. I'm now offically 8wks + 1day & my due date is 09/09/09 great birthday if I go on time

AllGoingSouth · 29/01/2009 21:59

Hi all, finally managed to get to GP's this week so am now waiting to hear when my app for the nuchal scan will be. Also feeling slightly sick for most of the day. The only thing that stops me feeling sick is eating! Had the same thing last time round & ate like a pig the whole pregnancy - and put on loads of weight. Am trying to be good this time round but seem to be failing miserably!

lixanismapolium · 30/01/2009 07:24

Hi to those who remember me from the early days of the thread. Just popping in to tell you that I had a BFP this morning! So I'm on my 2nd pregnancy of the year and it's still January!!!!! EDD is 10th Oct, so unfortunately I don't get to hang out with you guys, I will introduce myself to the October girls shortly. Got everything crossed that this little one will hang on in there ... 3rd time lucky ...

Had my scan pictures from yesterday sent through. If you want to take a look at what an 8wk 1 day old beanie looks like feel free to visit my profile page & click on photos

detoxdiva · 30/01/2009 08:38

Lix - that's great news! Wow - keeping fingers crossed all will work out this time.

TrixieBelden · 30/01/2009 08:42

Lix!!! What fabulous news!

Wish I was going to get a dating scan...I don't get anything till my nuchal scan, boo. Would like to see what's going on in there. 8w1d today and I'm feeling exhausted and grumpy.

newbie36 · 30/01/2009 08:46

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've written anything but been having a read and trying to keep up-to-date - congrats to all the new BFPs! I'm 6 + 1 and apart from sore boobs and ridiculous tiredness in the evening, all else seems fine (seriously ridiculous - I'm struggling to stay awake past 9pm.....if I had the opportunity I'd probably start tucking myself up at 7pm but think that's one step too far!!)

I've see there's been a bit of chat about George's hospital which is where I work. I can vouch for their fetal medicine dept - it's one of the best in the country and the staff are lovely - but as someone said George's isn't in the nicest of areas (just hang on to your bag when you get out of the tube).

Had the blood tests and not sure what happens now - I think I have to have a booking appt with the midwife or something but not sure if they contact me or I have to contact them. It's all very new still to me. Tigerfeet I do hope you feel better soon. How rotten for you.

newbie36 · 30/01/2009 08:47

Just one other thing - what's a dating scan? I'm a like TrixieBelden that I don't think I get anything until the nuchal scan.

evie2000 · 30/01/2009 09:12

hi newbie - was it you who works in A&E at George's?
Dating scan is what some people call the 12 week scan (whispers..I think?!) but also at George's as you probably know they have the brilliant EPU where you can just turn up and ask for an early scan - they are fantastic and so kind and don't mind at all if you're just a bit anxious.

love to all

lemonmoon · 30/01/2009 09:17

oh new BFPs! congrats, but especially to Lix who started us all off - that's such great news.

smileycat that's so cool. Wow. An actual bean

re nuchal and dating scans - for me they are one and the same: the scan between 11&13 weeks is for several things according to my midwife: they date the bean, check everything is as it should be and if you get the nuchal test, they measure that too. I always thought that the first scan was some sort of kindness to the mother but apparently they want to know stuff

detoxdiva · 30/01/2009 09:19

newbie - dating scan is offered in (most) places between 10-14 weeks to scan the baby and accuratley date the pg. Not everywhere does them (my area now does, but I didn't get one with dd in Bristol). The nuchal scan is done between 11-13 weeks and often not on the NHS - I am paying for mine in a few weeks.

Smiley - great scan pics. Can't wait to see a bit more detail in mine next Wed!

Off to see gp in a bit as have a shocking head cold, and what feels like a throat/ear infection. Prob nothing they can do, but just need to know if there's anything I can take.

Also had my hosp midwife appointment through for 23rd Feb where I'll get all my bloods done I guess - hopefully will arrange dating scan for the same time too.

Thusnelda · 30/01/2009 09:25

Hi Newbie36,
I'm also 6+1, but haven't had any tests yet. My booking appointment is on the 12th (Queen Charlotte's), hope to hear about scans then too.
I do think St George's is probably a good hospital if not very pretty - but it holds rather traumatic memories for me: my boyfriend died there of throat cancer 3 1/2 years ago, not nice.

Sails!
I don't think vanishing sickness has to mean anything, but I totally understand that you are worried. I have had only very slight nausea so far but that too seems to be coming and going totally randomly. Do try to enjoy not having it for a little while it might come back only to soon! Hope all goes well.

bratnav · 30/01/2009 09:33

Hi all,

Haven't been around for a while as DP is in hospital, they took out his appendix last week and now he has a post op infection

All is well PG wise, and I promise to catch up with the thread properly next week.

Hope you're all well

TigerFeet · 30/01/2009 10:00

lea1980 I'll see you on the maternity ward at Pilgrim in September then . I had dd there in 2004 and it was fine.
