So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

Oh what excellent news, bobber!

BabyLady · 28/01/2009 16:57

Hi ladies, welcome to new joiners and congrats Bobber on your scan.

I had a really strange morning when I felt for some reason I wasn't pg any more. Not for any particular reason but just becasue for some reason my mind seemed to be suggesting it.

It could be becasue I am getting nervous about my second scan next week. I keep thinking that as the first one was fine the second one should be too but then what if it isn't? How awful to see a little bean in there which has died? It's on my wedding anniversary too. Arghhh, am thinking too much. 10 weeks today based on first day last period or based on likely date of conception 9 + 3.

BabyLady · 28/01/2009 16:59

TrixieBelden: I am going to QC too

cautiousmumtobe · 28/01/2009 17:19

Bobber - fantastic news. I'm really relieved for you.

Wow, I've not been on for two days and there's about 4 pages of posts to get through so might not be totally up on everyone's news.

I feel pretty sick but nowhere near as bad as with DD - actual vomitting from morning to night and from 6 wks thro to 20. What fun that was. I definitely don't agree with the 'sickness = boy' theory! I felt pretty rough this morning just before major client meeting but seem to manage to get through it by eating plain biscuits this time - result! Have just had to treat myself to a piece of cake to stave off pre-tea sickness. Shame!

TrixieBelden · 28/01/2009 17:22

BabyLady: watch out for the traffic wardens at QC, they're positively rabid.

bigbang · 28/01/2009 18:29

Bobber, great news!

Horrible MS last time with a boy and just nausea this time so maybe its a girl.

12stepmum there seems to be lots of us in SE/SW London, we will have to have a meet up at some point.

I choose to ignore any evidence to the contrary

Hi there. Another newbie: due 24/9

I am new to pregnancy and new to any pregnancy-related message boards. I have worked out a few of the the abbreviations but some still mystify my - what does BFP mean?

All my child-bearing friends have had theirs in Germany, so I am also not at all familiar with the NHS ways but I am looking forward to my booking appointment at Queen Charlotte's in two weeks.

In the meantime I am trying to detect symptoms but they are still mild: very mild nausea at times, a little more tired perhaps, sometimes sensitive to smell.
I do hope I'm pregnant enough!

Hi Thusnelda, congratulations and welcome
BFP = big fat positive (pregnancy test)

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 28/01/2009 21:28

Hi everyone, it's so cool to see so much good news. I'm hanging in there, now 7+1 - must get round to phoning the midwife at some point so I can arrange my nuchal scan. I am feeling sick all day long and can barely eat except for crap like choccy biccies . I keep getting the excessive saliva thing too which is really unpleasant as it feels like what you get when you're about to throw up. I've only been sick a few times and wish I could more sometimes as it might relieve the sickness. Blimey, what a moaner I am,sorry!

I'm taking the sickness as a good sign, and the fact that we saw a heartbeat at 5+6. My biggest fears are getting to the nuchal scan and finding I've had a missed miscarriage and the baby has died. . I just have to try and hang in there and hope all of the symptoms are a good sign.

Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield for me again!

TheTickListQueen · 29/01/2009 04:24

StayFrosty - I had a scan at 5+6 and they only saw the sac externally, then went internal, saw a bit more and registered a heartbeat. The sonographer was also dismissive as she thought it was too early and I'd likely just have to go back again if there wasn't a heartbeat. She said 7 weeks is when they want to see a heartbeat.

smileycat · 29/01/2009 08:06

Stayfrosty most of the stuff you read up on says that the heartbeat kicks in at around 6wks so I wouldn't be too upset that you didn't see anything before the 6wk mark. I went for my 1st scan at 6+4 & even then she said that we may not see anything yet, but we did it was by internal

I have my dating scan tonight at 5, I'm pretty sure of my dates 9wks tomorrow so I'll be upset if he puts me back a wk or two. I live abroad at the moment until August & have to be sent to King's to have the Nuchal test so they need a correct EDD to be able to send me at the right time, means I get to seen beanie again tonight yippee & then again in a couple of wks at King's

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 29/01/2009 08:38

Hi Stayfrosty - yes it was an internal scan (not nice but hey!). With my previous pregnancies they couldn't see a heartbeat till around 6+4 even with an internal scan so hang on in there.

evie2000 · 29/01/2009 09:28

HI all, I haven't been posting much but I have been watching and lurking - apologies!
Hope everyone is doing ok and glad to hear some positive scans have been happening. I've also had an early scan that put me at 8 weeks so my dd is now 6th September too - same as you i think Bobber. snowy i see you're asking about SW london hospitals - what are you choices? I had my first at st george's and I have to sday although it's not the nicest hospital their care was excellent. Personally I chose it because they are the leaders in london on fetal medicine, and if anything had happened to the little one when born that's where he would have been taken so I thought it would be better to be there (anyway nothing did happen but that was my wierd thinking). There are pros and definitely cons to each and every one - Kingston is meant to be great, a friend had a good experience there, Chelse and Westminster is less positive at after care apparently, Guys good for some things....if you really can't decide i'd keep it simple and just go for the closest!
Sorry for very long post - I really hope everyone keeps well. I'm just about holding it together although I dont' remember feeling this sick all the time last time around but then perhaps we all wipe from memory! Roll on 12 weeks I say.
Love to all

TigerFeet · 29/01/2009 09:47

Hi everyone

Bobber that's wonderful news.

MS is ridiculous now. I am losing weight, being sick 6+ times a day, I eat one small meal of an evening when it isn't so bad and even that doesn't always stay put. I've made an appt to see my GP this afternoon. Not sure if he can be any help but I am getting desperate. I am shaky, no concentration, having to take a lot of time off work, can't drive far without being sick (DD at school 3 miles away and then another 15 miles to work... not good)

I don't get a choice of hospital - I live in the sticks, luckily there is a hospital with a maternity unit in the town in which I live but after that the nearest ones are over 30 miles away! Where are you Lincolnshire ladies having your babies [nosey]?

HappyBump · 29/01/2009 10:06

Hello
Can I join you?

My due date is Sept 24th, so I am currently 6 weeks.
I have a DS who is 13 months.

I'm very excited!

Gonnabamumma · 29/01/2009 11:28

Hi ladies, I am a bit of a lurker but just wanted to respond to Stayfrosty - I had a TVS scan at 5+2 as I had been having really painful cramping, all we could see was a sac too and the sonographer said it was normal as was too early for anything else. I had a to go back next week when I am 7+2 for another scan. I am terrified as I don't feel pregnant at all, only sore boobies to show for it and a hightened sense of smell. Hope everything goes well for you.

MummyWilliams · 29/01/2009 13:45

Hello! HUGE Congratulations to everyone!!! I got a BFP on 17 January 2009. Currently 6+2. EDD 22 September 2009. Mummy to DD aged 7 and DS aged 5. This is my 3rd pregnancy. Have sore boobs!!! and feel really tired, but VERY happy. xxx

Hi everyone. Been diagnosed with hyperemesis today, thread here, if anyone has any pearls of wisdom I'd be in your eternal debt.

I love that we are still getting newbies, welcome along

BabyLady · 29/01/2009 17:22

Hi all, conrats to today's newbies to the thread!

Sorry to hear you are not well Tiger Feet! Not fair really. I have only had what I would class as mild nausea and even that has made me feel pretty miserable!!

Been scoping Phil & Ted prams today and all the accessories! So many fun things to get. Perhaps a little premature as still like over 6 months to go but it was a welcome distraction from my day at work. Haven't told anyone at work yet so having to hide my sly pg related internet searches! Would love to wait until about 16 weeks to tell them but not sure whether I wil be showing too much by then. Keep wondering whether people are thinking I am getting fat as definite spreading going on.
