So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

Hey all,

Have been going nuts quietly over here. Have had brown spotting for over 3 weeks (not normal). It was very on off and just a small amount, I was trying not to worry about it as I still had all the symptoms. Feel yuck all morning then tired all afternoon. Plus I figured it would resolve one way or the other and nothing I could do about it. It started to happen everyday though the amount didn't increase. Couldn't sleep from stressing so went and had a scan on Friday.

My doctor was very reassuring but suggested it might not be developing as it should. Well when the scan picture first came up I thought oh no that's really deformed. Turned out just to be a bad angle!
Baby was measuring exactly right for my dates 8+2 (9wks today) and had a very strong heartbeat 182. What has happened is there has been some separation of the sac from the lining of my uterus. Not good. The guy doing the scan was lovely and very straight. There is a sac of blood under the amniotic sac from the tear, its not small but he said he's seen bigger ones that turn out fine. He said he can't call it, it could go either way its just a case of wait and see.

I do feel very relieved just knowing what is going on inside and now don't have to worry about the spotting which seems to be easing. I felt really sick all weekend and feel very optimistic as I didn't feel this pregnant with DS. Didn't have ms at all with him.

Fingers crossed Its got to work out cause after this and the ectopic last time I sure don't want to have to be pregnant again its not fun.

Hello everyone.

I haven't been about much recently and seemed to have missed loads, hello to the new BFP's and really sorry to read about Headfairy and Missymoo.

I have been feeling really sick, no vomiting just nausea, made worse by the computer! Rubbish! My boobs still aren't sore and def no bigger. Annoyingly, after breast feeding for 18 months they are smaller than they used to be...

That maternity grant sounds brilliant, pregnancy yoga classes round here are great, but really expensive, so thats those paid for!

I have a couple of bras from Pretty Baby, you can get them online. I have the nursing style, and they are quite nice. They look much better and more 'normal' that other maternity ones, but are expensive. The nursing clips started to fray after about 8 months on mine but I wore them all the time. They were a present from dp when I was feeling really down about having been in shitty bras for well over a year, they did wonders for my confidence.

lea1980 · 27/01/2009 20:41

hi all,
im over in the due august 2009 thread, but im keeping my eye on the goings on in here too..in case of cross overs!!
been reading a few of the threads about bras...its hard to know what to do isnt it?! i went to m and s when pg with ds, they are the shittest bras i have ever had...no exageration (?sp). they fell to bits within days, and im sure they fitted me wrong anyway!!! debenhams have a good range of maternity/nursing bras but if you are big boobed splash out in bravissimo...they are quite expensive (about 35 quid)but very comfy, and long lasting. if you are lucky enough to live near a shop they fit you well too and are good at fitting the bra a bit too big so it lasts through the pregnancy. a lot of their brands are also available from other online places at a cheaper price though...worth a look! and another tip...try to avoid mothercare for bras..not too good there either...very shoddy!!
tigerfeet and trixievix...i see you are both in lincolnshire?! me too..we must be the only 3 peolpe with internet connection in the county then!!!! yeah to us yellow bellies!!
anyway..good luck to you all.

Ticklistqueen and Bobber will be thinking of you both and wishing you the best.

I am just a bag of nerves and will be till I see epau on the 16th part of me is convinced that it's all a dream that will turn into a nightmare. Have a gp app today re blood test results and am feeling really nervous about it. I have an app with community mw on Monday and then epau on the 16th. (.)(.) still very sore, MS kicked in with a vengeance so fingers crossed.

lemonmoon · 28/01/2009 09:36

Hi everyone - it's been a while since I posted due to monstrous tiredness, but I've been trying to keep up. Fingers crossed for Bobber, and for TheTickListQueen.

Finally spoke to the midwife yesterday, who sounded stressed, but very nice with it - apparently they're getting 2-3 new pregnancies a day at the moment. She's referred me for the dating and NF scan, and one of them will come to visit me at home before 12 weeks. Apparently if I do get any bleeding or anything I can just refer myself to the EPU at Kings without having to call the GP or midwife, which is nice to know.

She did make sure I knew that they only dealt with home births or births at Kings, and that if I wanted St Thomas's they wouldn't take me. With Kings five minutes round the corner why on earth would I want to go all the way in a car to St Thomas's while in labour? But I guess people in my area must request it or she wouldn't say it. Anyway, I'm now officially in the system - which feels a bit strange, if I'm honest. I wanted to be, obviously, but now it's not a secret. Does that make any sense?

I seem to be the master of having contradictory feelings at the same time at the moment: I want to tell people, and I don't, I'm excited but I'm scared, I'm happy but I'm worried. Most of all I'm just bloody knackered.

TrixieBelden · 28/01/2009 09:56

Hi all -- quick question as I wait for the midwife to arrive (she's doing my booking appointment at my HOUSE! god I love this country)...

For those of you who are having scans now, is this on the NHS or are you doing it privately?

I hadn't planned bother with an early one but am getting increasingly concerned that I'm not feeling a fraction as ill as I did when I was pg with DD (who was, and remains, the healthiest person I have ever met, so in my head I have some weird algebra that says me vomming constantly = superhumanly thriving baby).

Am 7w6d and I feel about 90% functional, as opposed to 90% UNfunctional last time.

Hope everyone's well on this rainy Wednesday morning.

TrixieBelden · 28/01/2009 10:03

Oh, and since there hasn't been a knock at the door yet, some thoughts on bras:

Last time, I went up 4 cup sizes over the duration of my pregnancy, starting from 32D. Granted I gained a lot of weight but I had to go bra shopping more times than I can remember. I would recommend not buying maternity bras now; buy a good bra that fits you well from your favorite bra emporium. Personally I hate wearing bras that don't fit properly -- it's hard enough to deal with an um generous bosom without coping with a crappy bra. After suffering through a couple of cheap, ill-fitting ones last time, I ended up buying good (spendy) ones at about 5 months and felt SO much better. If you can manage it, hie thee to Rigby and Peller, buy one superbly-fitting bra, wear it constantly, and go back when you inevitably outgrow it. Bras are one area I won't skimp on. (Unlike shoes. My feet inflated like zeppelins with DD, I wore the same pair of ugly shoes every day for five months, and the day I got home from the hospital I threw them in the bin. They had HOLES in them. I must have looked fantastic.)

And for nursing bras, I have a hundred opinions but I'll save those for late summer!

TigerFeet · 28/01/2009 11:04

I'll have to see if I can get to Bravissimo in Nottingham sometime in the summer. It's very annoying really as I had just spent £££ on some bras that fit me properly when I got my BFP! I am still losing weight and I think if anything my boobs have got smaller

Are there really three of us in Lincolnshire? The population will double in September then .

I got my scan appointment this morning - it's not until the beginning of March which seems a loooooong time away atm.

AprilMeadow · 28/01/2009 11:07

Tiger, how exciting to have a scan date through. Just think that in on Sunday you can say its next month! That makes it a whole lot closer

TigerFeet · 28/01/2009 11:34

Good point AprilMeadow, I will remember that

Snowfalls108 · 28/01/2009 11:51

Thanks for all the bra advice ladies. Very informative. It's amazing how you don't even think about these sorts of things until the BFP!

Lemonmoon - I think we might be part of a new baby boom! People can't afford to go out and are staying in - resulting in more babies . Plus I think a lot of women have realised it's not a great time to be focusing on their careers and may as well take some time out to expand their families.

Is it very wrong that they only way I can get through the morning is to have a coffee - how is everyone else coping on the no caffine thing. I've cut down to one cup in the morning, and I'm having a half caff, but I feel very guilty when I have it. But if I didn't I think I would fall asleep at my desk!
The latest I've stayed up recently is half 10! My DH is not very impressed, has said I am very boring and all I do now is sleep. As I've told him baby growing is an exhausting thing and he should give it a go! Not sure how I'm going to cope next week as I've got two trips for work, one to Europe and one to the States! Eeek.

Bobber - hope the scan goes well today. Sounds like it was a bit of a mission - it's amazing how important it is to speak to the right person in the NHS.

Of the London ladies is anyone else registered at the Chelsea and Westminster?

Hope everyone is having a lovely sickness free morning!

TrixieBelden · 28/01/2009 12:05

Midwife has been and gone but I have to go to hospital to see an obstetrician next week anyway as I am apparently 'high risk' for a variety of boring reasons. sigh. Nuchal scan/combined screening now booked for 26th Feb...when DH will be on a work trip. Bugger.

On the bright side, the midwife was quite laconic and funny and I have a much better sense of how ante-natal care works now.

I'm at Queen Charlotte's, Snowfalls - could have gone to C&W but parking is even worse there than at QC's! Not to mention the traffic.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 28/01/2009 13:09

Afternoon ladies... thinking of you Bobber and TickList. Snowfalls, I've been having the odd caffinated tea/coffee. When looking on the internet I found that you shouldn't have over a certain amount. Here's a link to the Food Standards Agency and their pregnancy page: www.eatwell.gov.uk/agesandstages/pregnancy/whenyrpregnant/

I've found it's particularly difficult to get decaf tea in coffee shops etc so I've sometimes had a 'normal' one. However, on the coffee front, I've stuck to an occasional weak instant rather than giant Starbucks! Today I've had a can of diet coke (also contains caffine so will be a bit more careful today).

On the whole, beanie needs to hold on tight as for the last 2.5 weeks I've been emptying the cat litter tray (with disposable gloves on!) then had a bounce down the stairs - the odd caffinated drink is the least of its worries!!! I'm quite a positive person and although I'm being sensible, I kinda think what will be, will be. Way more worried about doing two weeks leading at a kids camp when 33/34 weeks!!! In tents, working hard, late nights and early mornings - poor beanie will no doubt feel it as much as me.

I've also bought some maternity trousers on Ebay. A lovely pair of brown cords turned up yesterday and they're so nice I really want them without the bump band! Can't wait to be big enough to wear them - did try them on but they looked a bit ridiculous with all the loose fabric Need to buy cheap clothes so I can afford a Phil and Teds buggy

Snowy1 · 28/01/2009 15:19

Hi I'm new!

I am 6wks today and this is my first pg. Due on 23/9. Feel I'm a bit behind most others, I've not even seen the GP yet, but have an appointment tomorrow.

Snowy1 · 28/01/2009 15:23

Actually, while I'm here I wanted to ask if I'm likely to have to choose which MW team to see when I see the GP tomorrow?

If anyone lives in SW London and has any recommendations I'd be grateful. Looked at the ratings for the maternity units and none are good!

bobber · 28/01/2009 15:52

Afternoon all

Will catch up properly on all the posts soon as I've just skimmed them for now - my mind has been all over the place with recent events so not been concentrating properly. Thank you so much for your continued support - I really appreciate it because you know all exactly how Im feeling.

Well... had the scan this morning & all is well!! Heartbeat still beating away & exactly spot on for the consultants dates - 8weeks & 3days so I should change my EDD on the stats list to 6 Sept now.

I've also got my first physio booked in for tomorrow, which couldnt have come sooner as the SPD twinges are really setting in now. Work have been great about the pregancy, but as soon as I mentioned SPD twinges, you could see their faces dropping behind the smile.. oh dear. I was off from 18 weeks last time with it, so what with that & the maternity leave its a fair old stretch. I feel really guilty - and its the reason I put off having a second for a while. But they were such buggers when I applied for flexible working last year & made it so difficult for me, I thought sod 'em - why put off a second baby any longer if they are going to be so selfish. So here I am finally

Will catch up with your posts now - bye for now

lemonmoon · 28/01/2009 16:02

On the caffeine front, I'm having at least one normal cup of tea a day, and then decaff tea for the rest of it. My tastebuds did the job for me with coffee. My friend gave up all caffeine altogether but that wasn't a choice I was going to make. My midwife also said to avoid prawns, whereas my pregnancy cookbook (published last year) has recipes with them in, and my de-caffeinated friend above has been eating them non-stop since her midwife said they were fine. I think a bit of common sense goes a long way.

Like purplecrazyhorse I can't avoid the cat litter issue, since I'm a cat sitter, so maybe my worries are mostly directed towards that

Top bra advice. I have always fancied a rigby and peller one, so perhaps this is the best time to justify the trip and the cost.

snowy1 congratulations! As for MW teams, in my area a team is associated with a particular surgery so you don't have to choose but I'm in SE London.

12stepmum · 28/01/2009 16:11

Quick hello to everyone! have hardly left bed today, DS - 2.5 - was up half the night (ghosts in his room apparently) and I had the worst day ever for ms yesterday, can only east oat biscuits and oranges, but even then it didn't help much. so having a really chilled day in bed, and ds has crashed out next to me so i'm getting some proper me time - haven't had that for ages since he dropped his nap before xmas - yay! scan booked @ kings for last week of feb, feel so impatient. anyone else in se london?

12stepmum · 28/01/2009 16:13

lemonmoon - where abouts are you?
bras - just been emailed by bravissimo to say that my giant - wait for it - 34G bras are on the way, at last, boobs really sore too. i started at 32e last time and ended up 32ff, god knows what's going to happen this time....

Snowfalls108 · 28/01/2009 16:16

Bobber - great to hear your news!

StealthPo09IsHere · 28/01/2009 16:18

bobber
Trixie, I am also concerned about lack of sickness, I am feeling nauseous, but I think last time I vomited every day from 5 weeks on. On one hand I'm quite pleased as I don't think I could cope with DS and me being sick all over, but on the other hand, I don't know...

StealthPo09IsHere · 28/01/2009 16:19

I see you had a DS last time ... my theory from talking to lots of people is that boys make you sick in pg, girls don't!

Snowfalls108 · 28/01/2009 16:26

well I'm having a boy then!

AprilMeadow · 28/01/2009 16:39

Great news Bobber

My morning sickness was ok-ish with DS and awful (although not as bad as this time) with DD. I am not sure which way this pg will go....... lets see how long the sickness lasts
