So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

Hi to neewbie BFP's and congratulations, Hope you are all feeling well.

I have now got over my "flu" type bug but feeling the full effectsof nausea today I never felt this bad with DD although a lot of my friends have told me that 2nd time round everything is worse (sickness, braxton hicks, labour )

5 days till my booking appointment
I think im 7 weeks today but that would make a 40 week due date of 30th August and this is not what FF told me im all confused now

bigbang · 11/01/2009 20:51

Hello and congratulations to all the new BFPs! Look forward to getting to know you all.

Still haven't got any symptoms except the aches and tiredness which is nice- I'm dreading 6 weeks as thats when I started vomiting last time, didn't stop till 23 weeks it was horrid.

Stealth, are you breast feeding? I'm feeding my almost 18 mo, not sure if/when I'm going to wean him. Not sure I could cope with feeding two!

bigbang · 11/01/2009 20:54

Argh no Little Cheese! I couldn't cope if my sickness was worse, I was signed off for 7 weeks last time, I just can't be that ill with a toddler!

HeadFairy · 11/01/2009 21:09

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome. No major symptoms yet apart from tingly nips and huge boobs! I had a bit of nausea yesterday, but I'm quite happy if it stays away, last time I had terrible ms I miscarried. My sister had exactly the same, only had really bad ms when she miscarried, so perhaps our hormones do something funny when the pregnancy's not to be.

lemonmoon · 11/01/2009 21:10

Hello - can i join in? I got a bfp on friday, and I'm due on 17th September. It's my first so I'm still trying to get used to the idea tbh.

I laughed at snowfalls108 telling her dh constantly because of not telling anyone else - I've been doing exactly the same. Whenever he asks how I am I say 'up the duff!' Not many symptoms yet (it's very early) except slight cramps and tender nips Oh and needing to wee a lot.

Snowfalls108 · 11/01/2009 21:26

Hi lemonmoon, ah yes needing to wee a lot. Had that today, went for lunch with my parents and had to go 4 times in an hour and a half.
Fab to have a due date buddy!
I'm doing a spreadsheet at the moment pplanning the next 9 months - just need to do something, all seems a bit of a waiting game at this stage. Will my gp laugh at me if I ring for an appointment tomorrow at just 4w +4

oops sorry - didn't mean to say that twice!

pooka · 11/01/2009 21:39

My symptoms are overeating then feeling queasy. Sore nipples. Very very tired in afternoons and bit of nausea in evenings. Might be missing the caffeine.

Quite a bit (when lying in bed) of aches in lower abdomen.

Littlecheese - labour second time round was a breeze for me. I look back and actually feel happy and all warm about how lovely it was. 3 hours, bit of gas and air and bob's your uncle. Afterpains were worse, and I have heard that they worsen with each delivery, so that's something to look forward to.

HeadFairy · 11/01/2009 23:28

snowfalls... don't worry about going to see your gp now. I have done both times I've been pg, usually my gp books a booking in appt with the midwives and logs me on to the hospital computer system so that they'll contact me with a date for first scan. He also sends off the paperwork so you get free dental care and prescriptions, so don't feel embarrassed to go now. I'm on nights this week but I'll be making an appointment to see him early next week.

pooka · 12/01/2009 07:47

I'm going on friday. Mostly so can get into the system for midwife booking in appointment.

TrixieBelden · 12/01/2009 07:55

I'm going to see my GP tomorrow...if I can stay awake. I'm sleeping something like 11 hours a night and am still a zombie for the rest of the day. This is not on! I have things to do! and a 4yo to enjoy! grrrr

Hello, new people.

HeadFairy · 12/01/2009 08:46

Trixie, I'm on nights at the mo and very of your 11 hours. The tiredness has hit me like a wall!

mama2leah · 12/01/2009 08:57

jus found out my pregnant... ds is nearly 6 months..in a state of shock!

PurpleCrazyHorse · 12/01/2009 10:59

Big hello to new people, this is such an exciting thread. I'm still feeling okay, not too tired and no sickness either although I'm sure it'll come in time!! Going to loo loads but also drinking more water.

Still no call from the MW but only filled in form at GP last Mon. I think the booking appointments are done here at around 8 weeks so guessing they might not ring for a while. Who knows? Maybe I'll ring at the end of the week if I haven't heard anything (will be 6 weeks then).

Snowfalls loving your spreadsheet. I can appreciate it as have started my own! My DH would laugh at me but it's passing the time

Snowfalls108 · 12/01/2009 11:14

Morning all,

Thanks for the messages re GP. Have just been into see her (very good service - appointment on same day) and have now been registered, and picked hospital - glad I'd done a bit of reading about them in advance.
Been given the forms for free prescriptions etc, and some very basic info.
Have been told the MW will contact me in a couple of weeks for appointment and then will have dating and nuchal (sp?) in about week 12, so think that will be at the begining of March.
So I'm gathering that early pregnancy is the worst bit - not a lot going on, you can't tell anyone, and you feel pretty crappy!
I did crack and had to tell one friend - she lives miles away, is pregnant herself, and doesn't know any of my other friends so thought it was pretty safe. I just had to tell someone.
So anyone any ideas about how to make the next few weeks pass quickly?!
xx

TrixieVix · 12/01/2009 11:30

Hi all - please may I join?

Still very early days - had my BFP on Saturday, and by my calculations, I think I'm 5 weeks, 4 days. Have made a Dr's appointment for Thursday - what will they ask me? How long do you think I'll have to wait for a scan appointment? My last LMP was in October, so really not sure how far along I am....will they do blood tests?

Really sorry to hear about your news Scardy - can't imagine what you're going through.

Stealth - hi

pooka · 12/01/2009 11:43

HI there. If your last period was in october, you might be further on than 5 weeks. My last period was at the end of november (ish not sure of precise date) and I am now about 6 ish weeks.

When you go to the doctor they'll ask you when your last period started. And prob refer you to midwives (at least that's what they do here).

pooka · 12/01/2009 11:47

I've never had bloodtests until the booking appointment with the midwife, which in the past has been at about 8-10 weeks.

It's the midwife who deals with te massively long bookig in form full of questions about medical history.

mumtobe23 · 12/01/2009 12:45

Hello ladies, urgh i think the MS bug has hit me today at 6 weeks. I have a pounding headach, sore boobs and although i haven't yet, i get the over whelming feeling I'm going to throw up! Didn't have a thing till this morning! I'm trying to hide the fact i feel so bad from my work mates but if I keep feeling like this everyday for the next however many weeks tehy may start to guess! Anyone else sitting at work feeling like poo?

HellHathNoFury · 12/01/2009 13:02

Afternoon all

No idea what's ging on here - went to see GP who wrote me a referral letter to a hosp. How bizarre. Just moved house though so I suspect that's how they do things in my new area.
Work wants to send me to a conference in NYC in October - not sure how to tell them that I may be 'otherwise unavailable'.

Am I the only one here who is on a diet?

lemonmoon · 12/01/2009 13:13

Morning everyone!

So I took the plunge and called my GP - apparently the midwife comes to see me at home, and I don't have to go into the surgery at all! A bit of a relief as I get the heebie jeebies from medical places. Anyway, they should call me for a first half hour appointment by the end of this week.

As for being on a diet, well last week I joined weight watchers to get rid of a stone before I got pregnant (oh the irony). I thought you weren't advised to diet though so I'm not going back. I am upping the fruit and veg instead, and resolving not to eat too many biscuits. To be honest I'm finding that my hunger is not negotiable anymore - before I could leave breakfast for fifteen minutes while I had a shower but the last couple of days I just can't. Anyone else got that or am I just greedy?

LJ29 · 12/01/2009 13:24

Hi ladies, I was meant to be trying to lose 4 stone but looks like thats gone out the window!!! I am eating much more healthily but like LM I am soooo hungry!!! I brought a load of fruit to work with me today and I only have a tiny satsuma left to get me through the afternoon and I just can't control my urge for sugar!!!

I would like to lose half a stone before 12 weeks and then my aim is to just put as little as possible on by being really strict with myself.

Snowfalls108 · 12/01/2009 13:35

The hunger thing hasn't hit me as yet. In fact I think I'm not feeling as hungery as before! Little bit of nausea, and today my boobs are looking huge and are a bit sore. I keep lifting them up and getting very odd looks in the office.

Lemonmoon - sounds great that your mid-wife is going to visit you. Luxury!
