Stripey Stay away from those threads!! I would say though, if you feel in the days and weeks after the birth that something isn't right then get yoru MW to have a look at any repairs for you. You'll be far less worried about having them checked then than you will be 6 months or a year down the line. Immeadiately afterwards you will have no shame and won't care who is looking! And best to nip any potential problems in the bud.

ah yes, public pooing, absolutely mortified in advance about this idea. i know dp wouldn't say if anything so gross did happen, though. i would have to have therapy to get over such a discussion...

you are quite right - stay away from the birth trauma thread...

LenniEd · 02/01/2009 22:57

Neither do we Newmomma - in fact DH runs the tap in our ensuite so that I can't even hear him going for a wee. He wouldn't dare poo in there with me in the bedroom. And I don't think I would either so don't worry.

so - when are all your due dates ladies...?

i'm 17th jan.

newmomma · 02/01/2009 22:59

hehe... running the tap whilst weeing. so glad i'm not the only uptight person around!!

stripeywoollenhat · 02/01/2009 23:04

13th jan though i am not sure i'll get that far. i'm an optimist.

lennied, if it doesn't all heal up within a ridiculously short amount of time (if anything untoward does happen) i will be plaguing the medics. feel surprisingly defensive about lady bits, and confess i had a knee-jerk 'if men had to do anything like this with their bits...' response to the birth trauma thread i did read...

newmomma · 02/01/2009 23:06

13th...! either way - its not long for any of us now.

i keep hoping something might happen early - but just know i'll be one of those people at 42+ weeks getting more and more fed up!

stripeywoollenhat · 02/01/2009 23:07

yes, i'm more worried that i will have to be pregnant for another month than i am about the birth, really

newmomma · 02/01/2009 23:08

agreed!!

LenniEd · 02/01/2009 23:09

13th too am mildly optimistic for an earlier arrival, but DD was just on time so reckon that is what I'll get again.

I will confess I split my stiches climbing over a fence about 10 days after DD was born. This was the root of my problems! Thankfully my lovely MW sorted me out, but was so so glad she sorted it rather than having to get referred through my GP and having about 20 people (slight exaggeration) have a look before I finally got fixed!

TBH - I would prob poo in public quite happily as long as I could be guaranteed no one I knew or ever would know was there it's just pooing in front of my nearest and dearest which is the issue odd isn't it!?

newmomma · 02/01/2009 23:10

qumps · 02/01/2009 23:13

congrats to ginni and scared.
still checking in on you all (should be in bed though).

treedelivery · 03/01/2009 00:35

Hi everyone

Just a quick drop in to make sure no one had a baby!

Been to hospital for monitoring yesterday as bubs was so quite, she is fine thank lord.

Midwife today, head 2/5ths which is brilliant - might explain adverse bathroom incident!

Had a hard sad day with dh - he's not doing so well on the redundancy front, not noticable till we leave house then I can see him just caving in. W wen tto meet my mum at a shopping centre an hour away and I think the sight of things he can't buy me or the family nearly killed him. Its hard.

Going to bed. Night all.

Thank you!

Am trying to be Mrs positive. Quite tricky when exhausted and terrified about the future. It's looking soooooo bleak around here for manufacturing.

Hey ho, baby is safe and I'm well and money is of no significance in the long long run. All a bit of a pisser at the mo though. Need a blowing a raspberrry smiley as thats what I feel like doing to the worl sometimes!

Shanster · 03/01/2009 04:18

Getting laid off is awful, happened to me last year and was very stressful. DH was still at uni at the time so my income was paying all the bills. I was very lucky and got another job fairly quickly but the experience really shook my self confidence. Knowing how emotional I can be just now, kudos to you for coping so well!!
No movement on the baby front here, my parents arrive tomorrow for a month (eeck!!) so the pressure is on to produce a little bundle of joy in short order. Think I must be the only woman who is 39 weeks pregnant and has no symptoms of pre-labour. I even sleep all night long (obviously I get up to pee 3-4 times but go straight back to sleep afterwards). I shouldn't complain but I would swap a good night's sleep for some BH right now, at least then I'd feel i was moving in the right direction

Periwink · 03/01/2009 09:19

Moosemamma - I was quite surprised to be offered the sweep at being only 2 days overdue on Monday, as a first timer I am not really sure whether to accept or decline the offer of the sweep, I have heard it is pretty uncomfortable, I will think about it over the weekend? However I really do nto want to be 2 weeks plus overdue - do not think my belly could take it! Send us an update on Monday.

LenniEd · 03/01/2009 09:31

Periwink - If you are ready to go into labour then a sweep can tip you over the edge so to speak. If you aren't ready then it won't work and can be uncomfortable afterwards. Plus you should be prepared for mw to not be able to see/reach your cervix or for it to be so tightly closed that she can't do the sweep. (My cervix was still too high and posterior for a sweep when my waters had gone 2 days before I had DD, and I know plenty of people who have had unsuccessful sweep attempts and then gone into labour shortly afterwards so don't be too disheartened if this happens.)

Tree- it must be very hard. You sound like you are doing an amazing job at holding things together. Keep dragging him out of the house, it will do him good in the long run. I'm sure he is feeling the need to be provider more acutely with a baby due so soon, he'll come through it though, and by next week there will be more activity on the job front than while we are still entrenched in xmas/new year holidays.

1stly try not to be scared of labour - I know it sounds a bit funny but think how many second (third and seventh ) timers there are here! My labour could be described as long an painful (25hrs) BUT I don't remember it like that IYSWIM... Also had stitches but was very glad I didn't have epidural because I could feel what was going on when I gave birth etc...

Just rest when labour starts and make sure you have pain helpers (like paracetamol, TENS, DH rubbing your back etc. available) I am getting a hypnotherepy MP3 as I believe it will help me manage the labour....

Get advice from people who have done it beofre! I went into labour at 2am with DS and sat there timing every contraction - my advice is take paracetamol and go back to bed!!!

morning

i am relaxing today tesco nearly killed me yest.

can totally realte to things that people r scared of with labour.
i am most worried about tearing 2 i had a 2nd degree tear with dd1 had tons of internal stitches which took ages to heal and i couldnt stand or walk propaply for 2 weeks. they used a veontouse which caused it.
not worried about too much else i am hopinf for a water birth in birthing centre. which is what i wanted last time as dd1s heart rate was dropping with contractions had to be transferred to hospital @ 100mph.
