Oops - just realised new thread so re-posting this:
Had my scan yesterday and all seemed well which was a big relief. We're having a little boy which was a huge shock to me for some reason but am really excited!
At the scan the baby was very camera-shy and first would only show us his back, then moved a little but covered his face with his hands.... so the ultrasonographer had to press pretty hard for some of the measurements - my tummy was sore for about 3-4 hours afterwards - this is my first baby so was wondering from people who have had this before if this is normal? Can't help but feel a bit worried about him being so prodded ! Thanks!

Momino · 16/12/2008 14:32

hurrah, want to be second poster on the new thread !
thanks Fi!

Momino · 16/12/2008 14:32

ok, 3rd poster ...

LoobyLou36 · 16/12/2008 14:33

josiec my first baby too. I went for my scan yesterday as well and the sonographer was a bit rough to get the measurements etc. had a few aches and pains afterwards so don't think this is unusual.

Momino · 16/12/2008 14:34

Josie, congrats on your scan and baby boy!

was your tummy red? hope it's better now but really shouldn't be a problem for baby.

FiKelly · 16/12/2008 14:34

Have to dash... got to take my mum for her mamogram appointment... and DS is running about in his vest again

My consultant was really rough at nuchal scan, but said baby wouldnt even feel it. At my 20 week scan with DD she wouldn't show her back, so there was much jiggling, a walk around for a bit, and tilting of the bed all to no avail. Had to go back the following week.

alapala · 16/12/2008 15:04

New post - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
sorry have been off ages. Flew to London for a week which was lovely, but then we came back here to visiting in-laws...
The tree's up, and only 3 working days left till a break - can't wait. am getting so curious about sex of baby I might go for a scan next week!

EmmalinaC · 16/12/2008 15:09

Hello new thread and congrats JosieC - glad it went ok.

MrsEvs · 16/12/2008 15:09

Finally caved and bought some maternity clothes last night and am v. happy with them! I have stuff from my previous pregnancies but I lost a good bit of weight after number 2 and it was all much too big for me, so I've been wearing it but it just made me look chunky not pregnant. Bought stuff that actually fit me last night and low and behold I look pregnant instead of porky - hurrah!!!

All the talk of prams made me have a look at some, and dear God the Bugaboo/Quinny ones people have been talking about cost more than gold!! Even 2nd hand ouch! No way I can get DH to spring for one of those when I do already have a push chair I could use (I just don't want to because it's 5 yrs old and I don't like it any more - vanity ). Would really like a facing me one though - has anyone heard of/know anything about this one?? Seems a little more reasonable, but it could be rubbish!

llareggub · 16/12/2008 16:10

MrsEvs I bought a Quinny for my PFB as I was sold by the guff about it being suitable for a child up to 3, so I thought it good value per use, if you see what I mean. I was very wrong. DS was too heavy for it by about 15 months or so as the combined weight of buggy plus toddler was just too much. I also got fed up of taking it apart so much. As a result, DS got used to not having a buggy at a very early age! I'd save your cash, personally.

I haven't got long left in work at all! I'm leaving at 29 weeks for maternity leave and still have two and a half weeks annual leave to take, so I've only got 8 weeks left in work, hurrah! I think I am making my colleagues rather irritated by my constant references to maternity leave.

My scan is on 31 December at 8.30, with my joint diabetes/obstetrician clinic afterwards. I went a week or so ago to the joint clinic to find that the receptionist, nurse, midwife and consultants were all eating a very delicious looking cake in front of all us pregnant diabetic women. Talk about rubbing our noses in it!

FiKelly · 16/12/2008 16:21

llare that was v unfair of them.. they could at least have been more discreet!

mrsevs the pram looks similar to one my friend has.. i'll double check and if it is she and her dd love theirs. i'll let you know..

runningmonkey · 16/12/2008 16:25

Found it!

Good to hear all the scan news although it's making me curious to find out what flavour we're having but dh wants a surprise. Think I am feeling movements in the evenings but not sure what it should feel like.

Finally feel like I've got some energy tho which is good got a few Xmas parties this weekend.

MrsEvs · 16/12/2008 16:27

Yes, I think that's why I can't justify big cash. I only want a new push chair for the beginning bit where they need to be able to lie down and sleep in it. As soon as they can sit up well, my kids have been in the lightest, easiest McClaren, and neither of my two children used a push chair again after 15 months, so I really shouldn't buy a new one at all since it won't get a huge amount of use - it's just that I want to !

That's so rude about the cake Llaregrub and just plain mean actually!

MrsEvs · 16/12/2008 16:28

Thanks Fikelly that would be useful.

llareggub · 16/12/2008 16:31

It was mean but it did make me laugh!

God I am so knackered at the moment - had a few very short weeks of being full of energy and am now back to being shattered. Seriously thought about stopping in a lay by today (....for a snooze - how things have changed )
Got my 20 week scan a week today - will be 21 wks. DD got jabs tomo followed by her xmas party which i'm sure she will be fine for as its later we're likely to suffer - bring on the calpol/neurofen supplies
Think I'll be in bed same time as Lottie tonight so won't be on later

Oh Spangle actually posted your top!!

Reggiee · 16/12/2008 19:43

Another thread - cheers Fi. So here I am with my one post per thread .

We're all recovering from the bad throat / hacking cough / high temperature thingy, so sympathies to all other ill folk. I've been really grumpy all weekend with it.

Congrats to all those who have had their scans. Mine's on Thursday so not too long to wait. Think we'll find out the sex, but not sure if we'll tell anyone.

Sweet & Fi hope your respective parents are ok.

delightedoldbag34 · 16/12/2008 19:45

Lovely shiny new thread......so nice!
I think Christmas cocktails are being served on this one too......I fancy something with cherry brandy in it. Anyone?
(in my dreams anyway)

Great news josiec about your little boy! All the little blue things are so lovely (I can feel my bank card twitching already).

Detsy - have a good sleep!

Don't ask me about buggies (I have a bad buggy habbit) and have spent a fortune on them over the years. But then I do tend to have kids who like to ride in them (DD1 is 7 and she occasionally climbs into the bugaboo ) - not that I push her but she was in her buggy until at least 4! So I do get my moneys worth. DD2 still loves her bugaboo and she was 2 in Sept. Not sure how she'll be about giving it up to the new baby in May. Could be interesting. Maybe I just have idle children?

llare - at eating cake in front of diabetic pg women. That's just mean. I hope you burst into tears in front of them.

Fi smiling at the thought of your DS rampaging around in just his vest! Kids are so funny.

Had a lovely lunch today with a friend (skiving for 2 hrs - fab) and we spent ages bitching about our DH's so feel much better than this morning. Sorry about the early morning rant Was just in such a grump.

delightedoldbag34 · 16/12/2008 19:48

dandy - Btw how do you always manage to sound so calm and sensible?

SpangleMaker · 16/12/2008 19:57

Thanks Fi for the new thread.

Congrats on the scans everyone

Am definitely chuffed at having a boy now. I had wanted a girl before finding out, but now hearing of other people having girls I don't feel at all envious and am just really excited Can't wait to go & buy some cute blue things.

Just waiting for my Ocado delivery with all the Christmas goodies... better fill myself up with dinner before it gets here so I don't crack open the snacks.

detsy thanks for sending the top, I'll look out for postie. Have a good rest tonight!

Momino · 16/12/2008 20:26

am very, very jealous of the boys.

Even though we didn't ask the sex at the scan, I'm sure it's another girl so will get used to the idea. then, if it's a boy, i'll be so happily surprised!

think i felt baby last night as it was too big a bubble to be wind, hehe. can't wait to start feeling proper movement, should be soon.

llareggub, funny at the cake, sounds like a scene from a sitcom.

dd1 now 10 days into potty training and dry during the day (though we live by the potty). she's doing really well and am proud of her. Her 3rd birthday is fri and we're really excited as we make sure the day is special: dh takes off work, she wears a bday hat all day, cake, presents - don't you just love birthdays?

bekkaboo · 16/12/2008 20:31

Evening all, im feeling much better now, panic atacks completely stopped and breathing is gettin better.

I have the worse craving for MUSTARD for past few weeks and its leaving me with chronic belly ache, think going have to lay off it a bit. Scan on 2nd Jan and cant wait to find out if boy or girl. Cant believe im 19 weeks on sat!

pulapula · 16/12/2008 21:08

I am getting v depressed about my lack of pelvic floor muscles. I keep sneezing and wetting myself. 2 days running I've ended up with wet jeans smelling of wee...
