Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BonzoDoodah · 27/01/2009 17:14

xxhunnyxx - you are asking about pregnancy yoga - there are classes in Manchester - my midwife gave me a list - I can scan it and email it to you if you want. But there is one at Parrs Wood on Saturday mornings - I was thinking of trying to go in a few weeks time. I went to one last time and thought it was lovely. (I've done yoga before and this class is great)

As for movement - don't get stressed if you don't feel anything - I didn't feel anything until about 24 weeks first time round. Or at least didn't know what I was feeling.

Wiltedrose · 27/01/2009 19:39

deleting you've really cheered me up, what a vision I am actually wondering now if I did piss myself and the blood was co-incidental! All's well that ends well. No more bleeding, and hopefully no more lying legs akimbo wishing I'd at least trimmed if not waxed (let that be a warning, ladies, always be prepared for a public (or should that be pubic?) viewing, ) with 3 student docs peering up my fanjo again for a while thanks

beccabump it's amazing when you first hear that heartbeat, isn't it, even though you've been there once before. I don't know about you, but I am almost more excited this time around than I was the last time, probaby because I know what to expect and am a bit more relaxed about it all.

patchybob get the play dates out of the way now - that way you'll get them returned later on when you most need the rest! I am guessing that, unlike my 2 year old, your two are too wise to the world to be persuaded that cleaning and tidying up are, in fact, a game?

Phoenix so pleased for you to hear the heartbeat - sympathise too with the high BP, got induced for it early last time, on the high side of average this time already, got my 1st consultant appointment tomorrow so fingers crossed they will let my mw monitor me out in the community and not drag me into the hospital antenatal clinic for monitoring. Have they put you on meds at all?

Just as a point of interest, you might want to make sure you are taking the full RDA of magnesium; Pregnancy vits only have a small amount in and magnesium has an important role in counterbalancing calcium and relaxing the blood vessels - thereby potentially helping to stabilise BP. My midwife suggested it - she said that in pre eclamptic emergency they give big doses of magnesium to bring BP down - and I did a Google search to find out what the RDA was in pregnancy, and it's higher than 'normal' (normal = 320mg, preg = 360mg, Pregnacare has less than half that). I now take an extra supplement (you can buy in Boots). Even if it postpones the inevitable by a couple of weeks it'll have been worth it.

Phoenix · 27/01/2009 19:52

Hi wiltedrose, my BP was high in last pg whenever i went to see the mw and i was sent for monitoring at the antenatal day unit almost every time. I also had to go for checking for a few weeks after ds was born.

This time it was high at booking in, high at hospital antenatal appointment and high today. After my booking in appointment mw sent me to GP to get it checked and then i had to see the practice nurse for a few weeks and it was fine every time i went to see her. I have never been given any meds to bring it down because after monitoring for a while it goes down.

xxhunnyxx · 27/01/2009 20:22

wiltedrose sorry to hear about you're scare and glad to hear all is well. Could the blood not be due to a bit of an infection? I believe it can be quite common in pregnancy.

deleting i'm pissing myself laughing at your pissing story. I'm sure it wasn't very funny at the time tho.

maidinamerica don't worry about the grey hair, I'm only 25 and got LOADS!
Plus today a girl at work said to me ''have u got different eye make up on today?'' I said ''no'' she said ''oh it's just that it looks different, in a good way''. I think the difference is that I actually bothered to put some on this morning! I didn't bother whilst I had morning sickness cos as soon as i put it on I'd chuck up and then get panda eyes. I think it was her way of telling me that I don't look as rough as normal!!!
lol

bonzo do u know where the other classes are in manchester? I'm in Swinton so Parrs Wood is a bit of a trek from me.

If anyone has got a Home Bargains/Quality Save near them they have some bargain bottles at the mo. They've got the Tommee Tippee easi vent ''closer to nature'' bottles for £1.99 for a pack of 2. I got 2 packs, no idea how many I'll actually need tho, anyone think I should get some more? I am planning on breast feeding at first tho.

I can't wait for my next scan but gotta wait another 4 weeks it seems ages away n i'm really intrigued so know what my baby looks like now, it's changed so much since i last saw it. Hate called it ''it'' too!

Wiltedrose · 27/01/2009 20:34

Yes you'll definitely need more bottles than that, unless you want to be washing up and sterilising all the time

However if you are going to bf then maybe just hold fire for now, it's easy enough to pop to Boots to get some more if needed when baby arrives, and you don't want to have too many just in case those particular bottles don't suit your baby.

I really liked the TT bottles, but I do remember we went through virtually every kind of bottle available at various stages due to colic, reflux, wind, etc etc. I am pretty sure we were on the TT ones at about 4 months, but on Avent before that with possibly one or two Dr Browns thrown in for good measure....

xxhunnyxx · 27/01/2009 20:38

Yeah that's what my mum said, can always get others when I need them but at least I've got those to start my collection.

Gillyan · 27/01/2009 21:07

Welcome wiltedrose congrats on your pregnancy and glad your scare turned out okay!

deleting that is so funny about the pissing! Really made me laugh

Can't remember who has said what but yes I am eating tons of crap - but then I do get cravings for the salad tubs you can fill yourself at sainsbury's - Pineapple, strawberries and mango so not all bad

Someone else said about bump one day gone the next.. I'm a bit like like that but I think it depends what top I am wearing.

I went to MW yesterday for the Downs/BARTS blood test - What a nightmare day First off....

Got a terrible cold and had the day booked off as holiday so actually went back to bed when DD went to nursery, then I woke up late and decided to book a taxi to the hospital so I wouldn't be late...Taxi turned up 10mins early ( why do they do that?) anyhow, he saw my maternity notes and twigged I was pregnant which I thought was rather perceptive for a bloke but it turns out his wife is a MW but in another district - he then went on to say how he couldn't do the job as of the sad side to it - he then went on in detail to tell me about a lady who lost twins the other week, all about how she had to deliver them and then how they had to be prepared for the funeral ( sorry if that upsets anyone but I have just described it extremely briefly, he went in to so much detail) What a total prick! You don't make taxi talk with your average customer about such sad things let alone a pregnant woman! I told my midwife and she said 'what a nob-end!'

Then.....MW was sruggling to get blood off me so she sent for a different needle and said she would listen for babies heart beat - 30 mins later no heartbeat and she went to get help - they were about to organise an emergency scan and then a senior MW came and 10 mins later little heart beat was found! Thank god, I was so scared!

still can't wait for the scan as reallt anxious and want to know everythings okay - as I'm sure we all are.

Dreading work tomorrow and am considering asking DP to break my leg or something so I can get signed off, I've got a full day of appointments and my back is just killing me and full of a cold to boot. Been referred for Physio but still not heard anything so might chase that up tomorrow.

DD's birthday party went well I managed to hand 14 kids back to their parents - DD got so many presents it's was quite overwhelming, I just didn't expect everyone to buy her something. The best one was an umbrella that has pics on but that you paint yourselves with waterproof paint, I thought that was wicked.

Sorry, I am vey chatty tonight. Got my gorgeous wedge cushion and support pillow yesterday so off for a brew and comfy sit down I think while I fantasise about my work place been blown up!

london11 · 27/01/2009 21:07

princessbuttercup am v jealous of of your cleavage! Whilst I am struggling to contain mine in an E cup I reckon I could tuck a whole pencil case under each one

Am feeling out of sorts this week, can't put my finger on it just not myself. Weeks seem to be going so slowly too....another 3 weeks til the next scan.

Craving currently is for grapes.....with S&V crips (preferably mcoys!)

deleting · 27/01/2009 22:13

yes, we can laugh about it now of course

gillyan - knob-end is right. Hope his wife hasn't got the same bedside manner. good luck with the tests.
14 kids - am in awe.

Have been having very strange dreams recently, thought that didn't happen until later. Woke up this morning and didn't know where I was. Had a nice day today though, singing with dd this morning, a nice lunch (as in dd ate it without any moaning), an hour or so sleep and then picked up ds and we made dinosaurs out of playdough. DP came back and cooked spag bol and now I'm having mint tea and eating duchy original lemon biscuits (lovely and VERY lemony, recommend)

Misspaella · 28/01/2009 08:46

Morning
Deleting know what you mean about dreams. I had the most bizarre dream last night that I just can't shake off. I had the baby (4 weeks early) and was having my usual struggle with bf (in RL I have only ever managed 4m of bf w/DS and just over 3m DD - but that's another story) Anyhow in my dream I was bf the baby but just at the colostrum stage and then I put my baby down. I couldn't find the baby later and went into another room to find another woman BF my child (and her milk had come in so my baby was really suckling away).

I was really angry and upset. Can't shake the feeling even now.....

Phoenix hope ur bp settles. I don't have any tips as I am on the lower side kinda girl. Bet going to see mw makes yours soar even more.

Hi to everyone else.
x

Patchybob · 28/01/2009 09:01

I am having strange dreams too, infact I had my first one where I had had the baby and it was part of our family for real, it was lovely and I woke up really happy.

Playdate with 4 kids yesterday was a nightmare. 2 little girls who played sweetly and quietly with their toys and 2 boys who were trying to kill each other (part of a game...nice) from the minute they got in the car. DH arrived home early and a met him at the door with the comment 'I hope this ones a girl'! If I could have drunk a bottle of wine I would have!!!

Having said a while ago that I haven't had a headache for ages and how fantastic my accupuncture was, I have now had a headache for days. It is always just sort of there, niggling away. Any tips? I have taken the odd paracetamol but am not sure how much I can take. Have appt with gp on the 5th which was the earliest she could see me.

Hope everyone ok and has a good day today. x

Newb · 28/01/2009 09:33

Ooh, I dreamt night before last that I gave birth to a lizard, who had the ability to change into any one of the animals from Madagascar. DH and I had to keep him in a cage and keep a very close eye on him but we were quite proud of our parenting skills....

Misspaella · 28/01/2009 09:51

Patchybob I applaud you for having a playdate with so many children. At what age do your have playdates w/no moms/dads in tow. DS is 3 1/2 and we only have his friends over with their mom (so far also my girlfriends anyway).

Newb funny to hear that you took to having a lizard so well.

rattling · 28/01/2009 09:58

Okay - can I ask for help on a slightly different boob growth problem to everyone else. I was feeling very pleased with myself for having some at long last - recently I've even developed a slight crease in my chest which I think might be that "cleavage" thing I've heard tell of. My bras have been too uncomfy to wear for weeks (support tops for me at the moment), so I thought I'd measure myself and go get a maternity bra. Bit disappointed to discover I'm now a "massive" A-cup. Maternity bras don't come in A it seems. Fine for now, but nursing bras don't seem to come in A's either - surely I'll need one of those one day. Do I have to return to teenage breast increasing exercises for the next 5 months?

And am I just noticing it now, or do the Tena lady ads suddenly seem to be aimed more at new mothers than old ladies as I'm sure used to be the case?

And sorry to anyone still feeling crap, but I just have to announce that I think I might be blooming at the moment. Stopped feeling sick last night, slept pretty well, my skin has cleared up and I'm feeling that I can face a full day at work! It may just be today, so I plan to enjoy it

Misspaella · 28/01/2009 11:12

Rattling don't worry about needing to source an A cup nursing bra. When the milk comes in your breasts increase by a "fist" size (make your hand into a fist over your boobs and that is what cup size you buy).

The only part of my chest that has gotten bigger is the width NOT cup.

Enjoy feeling good!

Belgrano · 28/01/2009 11:12

Gillyan I want one of those cushions and wedge things! What are they and where from please?
Rattling HOORAY! I am so so delighted to encounter a fellow tiny breasted pregnant person. I am usually a AA cup (well sometimes I think I'd be a AAA if they made them - basically I am v skinny on top and have tiny beestings) and in pregnancy am all proud of my A cups. Yes we are officially stuffed though, as they don't make bras for little people like us. You will, I am sorry to say, have to wear a B cup and put up with draughtiness and bagginess for the next few months (unless you find some bras I haven't come across in which case TELL ME!).

Just hope nobody pokes you in the boob and realises it dents!

They don't make nursing bras in any smaller than B either but breast pads do a lot to fill a cup up and also you will definitely get bigger then and might even actually be a B!

BonzoDoodah · 28/01/2009 13:55

xxxhunnyxxx - will look at my list for you but I think all the yoga was south manchester. Could you ask your midwife? It was my mw who gave me the list. I'll have a look online for you too.

[Misspaella] we started having playdates without mummies when the children started school, its not nearly as much fun as the mummies that normally came round were friends so you could have a good gossip while the children play. Now I find myself having to be nice to children who have no manners, trash my house and eat like pigs! At least if their mums are there they tend to behave a bit better!

[Rattling] and [Belgrano] can I join your small boobed gang! When I went to be fitted for a bra recently the lady in m and s showed me to the teenage section!! Mmh! I seem to remember that they puffed up beautifully later on in pregnancy with the other 2, I loved them, so did my dh but by that stage I wouldn't let him anywhere near me! (Not that I am letting him anywhere near me at the moment much to his disgust! !

Patchybob · 28/01/2009 15:36

Oh bum my thingy didn't work to make it go bold?

Belgrano · 28/01/2009 15:45

Rattling you can get non wired padded bras from M&S too - they aren't maternity bras but I think they are fine. I just buy those in an A till I get big enough for the B maternity ones.

rattling · 28/01/2009 16:02

Thanks for all the advice from the slightly under-endowed out there. I did get myself a couple of plain white non-wired affairs. But I'm so proud of my now heaving bosom all the maternity tops I got the same day are fairly plunging - so I need to go looking for something more fancy that can withstand being glimpsed. The white ones will do under T-shirts when the weather picks up.

soozze · 28/01/2009 16:45

Hi can I join too? I'm due 5th of July and have 20 wk scan set for 16th feb. I have a ds who's 3 and have been gently introducing the idea of a new baby. He seems much more interested than at first but still not overly convinced.

I'm over the sick feelings, but seem to be getting bigger very quickly now. I'm am eating way too much, and totally recommend seabrooks crisps for the saltiness!

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. Welcome Soozze, another salt and vinegar fan!

Well I told work over yesterday and today that I am PG again, I was so worried about it beacuse I've only been back for a few months after my ML with DS but everyone has been lovely about it, phew!!! As expected I got a few wisecracks from the men as in 'have you never heard of contraception?' although once I reminded them that DS had been from IVF that shut them up LOL. Another guy today started going on about women always being on ML so I warned him not to even go there or he'd have a set of (angry) women after him!

So I'm feeling more relaxed at work now and I'm enjoying parading my bump instead of hiding it under baggy clothes Only 5 months to go! How many weeks PG do you all think you will stop work at? I stopped at 34 weeks with DS but wish I'd worked on longer so I got more at the other side once DS was here so I might try to get to 35 / 36 weeks this time, then again I'll probably be knackered running about with a toddler too!

On the subject of bras, I am still wearing my normal (underwired) ones. I do have some maternity ones from last time but I hardly wore them- is that baaaaaaaaaaad?
