Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Misspaella · 19/01/2009 13:36

Afternoon everyone
Hope all is ok...I have had a very rough night with DS (3yrs old) who has had what we thought was just a minor cold. He was really struggling to breathe all night and we assumed it was due to his blocked nose. He didn't seem right in the morning so I took him to the GP this am. Turns out he really was struggling to breathe and we had to go to A & E to be seen by a Paediatrician. Bless him he was so good. They gave him Salbutamol through a nebuliser a couple of times and monitored his oxygen levels.

I have asthma (and so do some of my siblings) so they said he was at high risk to developing it BUT it was just a viral infection that caused his tightness in his chest and wheezing.

Needless to say, I just want to crawl into bed right now and sleep. If only DD (19 m and very active!) would show signs of tiredness right now. DS is fine and looks like he could use the sleep too.

My luck is really running out it seems lately. DH gets made redundant just before Xmas, DS gets sick and we have an A & E day and our car looks like it is dying and we need to get a new one.

Sorry to rant but I am getting fed up with this month.

Misspaella · 19/01/2009 13:42

Ephrine that is AWFUL!!! Do they know what caused it? Sorry to hear about your scare.

ephrinedaily · 19/01/2009 13:53

Thanks they don't seem to know what it is. it could be an erosion of the cervix (fine, normal) or it could be an infection or it could be nothing. Have to wait for results to come back re infection - presume if there's nothing, they won't contact me. TBH I felt like it was a show - it looked like the plug coming out at first iykwim, but if my cervix is closed it couln't be that could it? Got I just want to stay in bed with my legs crossed for the next 26 weeks, its a nightmare I have no confidence that this pregnancy will continue.

Anyway I will try to stop moaning and take my mind off things, doesn't seem like things are going great for you either. Sorry to hear about your DS, taking a toddler to A&E is a horrible experience isn't it. Hopefully it will be a one off. Will DD watch any TV / DVD or is she a bit young? At least you'd be able to have a lie down on the couch. Sometimes I lie down and put a blanket over me whilst DS plays around me.

BonzoDoodah · 19/01/2009 14:09

ephidrine - what a nightmare. At least they sent you home saying all was well. Have a read round - LOTS of people have a bleed and carry on to have a completely normal, trouble free preg. Honestly. The worsth thing you can do for you and babs is sit still and stress about it. Need those happy hormones. Gotta think - phew lucky escape - lets get on with this. Best to avoid skate-boarding for a week or two though
mispaella too what an auwful weekend for both of you. Asthma is scary enough but in a toddler - worrying. Thank goodness it was just a virus. Hope you can get to slump in front of the Telly - nice mind-numbing stuff to chill out DD.

Belgrano · 19/01/2009 14:16

Eprhine and Misspaella you both have my sympathy, what a stressful time. MissP, you must be exhausted! I am shattered and only have one and she sleeps at night and I haven't been to A&E lately. I say do anything you can to bribe DD for some down time - videos, chocolate, anything it takes so you can get your feet up for an hour.
Ephrine if it's any comfort I don't dare really properly engage with this pg either - no scan pics in my wallet or anything but i do understand that a bleed must be much more terrifying. you poor thing. Sending you strength...[hug]

Hi, I'm due 8 July and have been lurking for a couple of days. I recognise Belgrano from her other thread about nuchals. Congrats on your CVS results, excellent news. I had the same thing. Story so far (long!) scan at 12 weeks which showed 5mm of fluid, went to see Prof Nicolaides 2 days later and it had gone up to 8.2mm. Didn't look good and we had 95% chance of serious probs. had CVS which came back neg for chromosome probs and cystic fibrosis. Booked a detailed heart scan, again with Fetal Medicine Centre, at 14 weeks. We saw Prof Nicolaides beforehand for a follow up anomaly scan, which showed the fluid had reduced by half and he couldn't see any signs of the abnormalities the fluid can indicate (heart defect, skeletal and organ defects, genetic probs and lots of other terrifying stuff). He said he could see the heart very clearly and advised us to save our money and have a NHS heart scan at 16 wks if we wanted one. Instead of 95% chance of serious problems, if the fluid continues to reduce, we are now looking at the same chances as everyone else. He even brought some extra people into the room to have a look and to explain that this is the perfect example of why you should discourage a termination on the basis of increased nuchal fluid only. FFS, this all happened in the space of 2 weeks, so as you can imagine have been having a lie down since. Anyway, hopefully that's all behind us now and I can worry about the usual stuff. Sorry it was so long, but can I be put on your list. I have ds who's 5.5 yrs and dd who's 2yrs.

PrincessButtercup · 19/01/2009 16:22

Belgrano - sorry, I hadn't read your posts before. Just caught up. It is a scary wait but let's hope the measurement is just 'one of those things' and not significant at all. Fingers crossed for you.

PrincessButtercup · 19/01/2009 16:33

Sorry, didn't finish post!

Meant to say, I'm so glad for you deleting. What an emotional rollercoaster! I hope your next scan (NHS or not!) is reassuring.

Ephrine, a friend of mine had a aimilar scare at 14/15 weeks (apparently not uncommon) and was fine. I hope that you do get a chance to take it easy.

MissP Sorry you're having a tough time. I think that you deserve a very happy February!

Evening
I am done feeling sorry for myself. I got DD to nap and ended up snuggling with DS this pm. I feel a whole new person for it.

Belgrano and Ephrine hope you get over this stressful period. I can't imagine what it must be like to still having proper worries with the pg at this stage. Touch wood all is well with me and this bean and I have real comfort in that. I hope that happens to you soon too.

Deleting welcome and glad to hear your results have improved. Time to enjoy your pg!

Hi Mavornia ... long time no hear.

QueenFee · 20/01/2009 13:44

Hi its my turn to have a whinge
I have so much I need to get done and I can't do anything becasue I can feel the SPD returnng and I don't want to end up as bad as last time. I am so frustrated.

Also DS is going through a lets be difficult phase and he opposes everything I say or do - AHHHHH! 2 year olds. I am currently seriously doubting my ability to cope with yet another child.

ok moan over - sorry!

deleting · 20/01/2009 14:08

QueenFee - sorry, don't know what SPD is. I really understand your concern about ability to cope, having those thoughts myself and not only with the tantrums and general mayhem, but also how we will physically get from A-B on time for anything, ever. I'm sure it will all just fall into place

Got a very busy day tomorrow, appt with dr for general ante natal stuff, early so hopefully no delays in waiting room, then having hair done, followed by yet another scan and blood test for any viruses which could have caused fluid prob. Nervous about scan, even though only had one two weeks or so ago, this is the most photographed baby.

Hope everyone well today.

eveningall · 20/01/2009 15:51

Hello

Just to say that I was Rhubarbrhubarb but have been advised to change my name since it causing confusion since someone else on here is called Rhubarb. So as not to offend anyone or upset, please can you change me on the list to the name above. Really sorry to do this but I thought it might be better. Still hopefully due the 10th July although having some tests for incompetent cervix so really worried about it all. Baby fine for now but have spotting and a bit of tightness and a history of miscarriages and problems so we'll see. Fingers crossed
Thanks

Belgrano · 20/01/2009 16:02

Hi all
I am seriously doubting my ability to cope too - I have SUCH a short fuse and get really cross with DD, who isn't being particularly pleasant to me at the mo either and is really favouring her dad (I wonder why?!!). I find myself OFTEN muttering to DD - when I'm struggling to hold onto her in a busy carpark or trying to ignore her shrieks in the car so I can drive us home safely or watch a junction - 'and I'm having another one, why?' which of course makes me feel guilty and somehow responsible for the potential probs with this baby! Oh hormones. Joy.

hobbgoblin · 20/01/2009 18:02

Helloo all!

I struggle to keep up with this thread . Today I received my AngelSounds DIY Doppler doo-dah and am very obsessed with listening in on baby. Is a good cure for my paranoia though

Beccabump · 20/01/2009 18:30

Belgrano and QueenFee

I can totally symapthise with the SPD and the very short temper!!! Actually had a lovely day today as DD was on half-day at nursery so i got to meet up and have a proper adult conversation with a friend and then DD was lovely (well as lovely as a toddler can be!!) all afternoon!!

Am going to try and remember to ring my doc tomorrow to get my physio transfer....mind like a sieve at the moment though! QueenFee - remember to get help asap as it is more likely to be worse and earlier onset with no.2 onwards - sorry

Belgrano - get time to yourself when poss just to remind yourself you are a lovely lady with a brain!!!!

Right, time to put DD to bed. YAY!!! (I am such a horrible mum!!)

Hugs to all xxx

woollyjo · 20/01/2009 19:46

Hi all, wow its been a chatty few days.

DD recovered from her chicken pox which was last week's drama but this sun dh got a call to tell us his dad had collapsed on the golf course and after an hour of frantic phone calls to A&E (we live 250miles away)learnt that he had died (only 62 but a history of heart problems and general neglect of his health). Poor DH, his mum died just over 2 years ago 4 weeks before dd was born.

DH's brother is now back in the country so I have come home with dd and left them to it for a while. DD needs some normality and I need to get to work at some point this month.

Does anyone else have really sore eyes? not sure if it is a pregnancy thing or if I should go to the GP bot its been going on a while and is really uncomfortable.

Lyrebird · 20/01/2009 20:03

Hi hobbgoblin - I'm intrigued - I've never heard of the AngelSounds DIY Doppler. Sounds cool - do you think it's worth getting?

Lyrebird · 20/01/2009 20:17

(Oh no woollyjo I was working my way up through the messages hence my message about the doppler immediately following yours ).

I'm really sorry to hear about your FIL .

QueenFee · 20/01/2009 22:14

oh wooleyjo sorry you appear to be going through the mill
deleting SPD is short for symphasis pubic dysfunction and in short means I ended up in a wheelchair as couldn't walk in so much pain at end of pregnancy with DS

Strangely I didn't get it with DD at all. (Had an office job back then so didn't have to be walking around as much maybe that had something to do with it!) I have been seeing an osteopath as the NHS are useless with SPD some Drs still don't believe it exists. Tried my brace this am but that made it worse. The only thing to sort it is rest but thats a joke with 2 kids
I got some almighty horrible stares in Next today as I dragged my kicking screaming son out of the shop by his arm. (Lifting is the worst thing I can do) Had to go shopping as he needed new shoes and then got ever more fed up because all Clarks shoes this time round were rather strange.
It's funny because despite DD being a more difficult toddler and a smaller age gap I didn't worry at all about how i'd cope!

On the plus side my pushchair arrived today so have just been having a nice play with it. Just a shame I have to wait another 24 weeks to use it I do feel a bit better too. Sorry to winge on earlier.
This pregnancy is flying by for me. Can't believe i'm only 4 weeks off half way!

Newb · 21/01/2009 09:41

Well I'm now entering a new and exciting phase of indigestion and constipation. MS is pretty much gone, including the need to throw up every time I smell a dishwasher tablet (?) now I'm all about glasses of milk and inappropriate windy episodes in the office. Sort of viewing my body with a kind of detached amusement - what's going to happen next?

Excitingly though am off out for girly drinks tonight. Ah, my social life, I remember what that was like. Suspect it will be an hour of OJ, frowning at the smokers, then home knackered. Still, will be very pleasing....

lastboxoftampons · 21/01/2009 10:57

Oh Woollyjo I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. Your poor DH take care of one another.

Deleting SPD is a disorder that some women get in pregnancy where the bones of the pelvis start to separate, which makes walking difficult if not impossible and from what I hear it is VERY painful.

Newb I hear ya on the constipation Although I've been having some meusli in the mornings, which seems to be helping - Fiber, I guess? But also on the dishwasher - my ms/nausea is pretty much completely gone, but I just can't load the dishwasher - the smell makes me retch! And a particularly smelly bin the other day had me heaving for about a half hour Makes me wonder if I would've done the same if I wasn't pregnant

hobgoblin I've been considering a doppler, but I think my DH would just roll his eyes at me! Did you rent yours? Do you mind if I ask how much you're paying?

All's fine here. Had my booking in on Monday and not much to report, except I'm meant to see the midwife again in 4 weeks. I didn't realize I would need to go so often, but they said that's what they recommend for first timers. I suppose if I didn't want/need to go, I could just not make the appointment as it all seems to be left up to me to do, but any opportunity to hear the heartbeat and twitter on about my baby DH is getting sick of hearing about it!

SafferUpNorth · 21/01/2009 11:35

Hi girls, just emerging from a deadline so have a moment to catch up on news.

How sad to hear about your father-in-law's death, Woollyjo. And so sudden... makes one realise how quickly loss like this can happen. Both our parents are in their mid-60s and thriving, but that could change in an instant.

Newb: oh no, you are not alone with regards constipation! However, I've got it under control with fibre. I NEED at least 5 prunes with my oats porridge for brekkie, or else...

Seem to be eating like a horse now, with a craving for carbs - I've developed a fatal attraction to hot cross buns with LOADS of butter (never used to eat much bread or baked goods in the past). Needless to say this is why the prunes are extra-necessary!

Take care for the rest of the week, everyone. Am off to MW again tomorrow for more bloodsucking action (AFP screening) and hopefully a listen at baby's heartbeat!

ephrinedaily · 21/01/2009 14:56

Eveningall Hope you and baby ok its very worrying isn't it. Fingers crossed for you.

Woolyjo sorry to hear about your FIL dying it must be extre hard for DH after losing his mum, 62 seems very young. Re eyes, I had dry eyes last time = got drops from GP iirc.

So sorry for those suffering with SPD, hope you are managing to get some rest.

Saffer Am with you on carbs. I am obsessed with toast at the moment

Things seem ok here at the mo. Haven't got infection results back yet so still no idea what caused bleed. May try and make an earlier MW appointment as not due to see one till 3rd Feb and that seems a long time of fretting. Think every twinge is an MC starting. Almost wish I had doppler!

Andie01 · 21/01/2009 15:42

Hi all,

It's ages since I last posted but think I am with some of the others in not really believing that I would get to 12 weeks for various reasons - BUT I have and am now 13 weeks. I have had 2 scans both of which showed just one baby (thank God!! Not sure I could cope with twins and a toddler!) with a nice little heartbeat and all my nuchal measurements were fine. My date has been put back to the 29th July but I'm not really convinced that's correct as I'm pretty certain of my dates - a baby will come when a baby decides to come anyway!!

So sorry to those who didn't get great test results and fingers crossed for further investigations. As for people choosing not to have tests - that is entirely your decision and no-one has a right to comment on that. We chose to have the tests as we would rather know and be prepared to cope with any probs but that's our personal decision and has absolutely no bearing on what anyone else does.

So sorry to those who have had bad news, trips to A and E, etc. It just makes things even harder when you might not be feeling great anyway

I am still feeling exhausted and am hoping that it will lift soooner rather than later. I don't remember feeling this tired last time but then I didn't have a very active toddler to look after!!
