Anyone due July 2009? Part 2

Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

OP posts:

Great news about your scan Belgrano, you must be so relieved
Can't remember who was asking about prams but I ended up with 2 with dd2 was born, found the urban detour useful at times and the maclaren handy for other places. Still have both prams for dc3, might make do with them, haven't really been shopping for anything yet.
I agree with the comments about toddlers and being pregnant again, dd2 turned 3 at Xmas and her and dd1 seem to be arguing a lot more in the last month, the heat here and school holidays don't help though

SafferUpNorth · 16/01/2009 09:49

Hi everyone, just catching up on yesterday's posts... boy, a lot happens on this thread in a day!!!

brainmish - welcome and congrats on your surprise pregnancy. I wish you all the best with sorting out your dilemma, though... hopefully there is some confidential adoption helpline out there you can talk the issues over with?

Belgrano - your result is super news and a great relief, I am sure. Phew! Now you can relax and look forward to little 'un!

MrsMope - wow, congrats on twins. Can't believe the number we have on here!

Rattling & Christiana - yes, let's arrange an E'burgh meet-up. I will drop you a note on that hotmail address in a sec, Rattling. And no, I'm not frightfully young. Coming up for my 35th b-day in a week!

rattling · 16/01/2009 10:15

Belgrano - That is just the best news. I think you have a weekend of celebrating (at least) ahead of you.

Brainmish - Welcome. Belgrano's news hopefully gives you cause for optimism with your results being 3 times better on paper. Do you know what the basic risk for a 40 year old is? I think it is as high as 1:80, which means that the blood results have decreased your initial risk significantly (hope that makes some sense - it is how I thought of it.) I am aware of the eggshell treading required around adoption as I was beginning to consider it as our next option if the IVF failed, but have no suggestions as how best to approach it.

Mrsmope · 16/01/2009 11:34

Congrat's brainmish. They do have an adoption thread on mumsnet so maybe if you posted your question there, someone might be able to offer you advice.

Know that I shouldn't be complaining but at this stage of pregnancy and despite looking quite pregnant (I do have a small bump) I haven't put on any weight at all. Is this anything to worry about or do you think that it could be due to the fact that I am having twins they are burning up my calorie intake?

Also, just realised that as I need three car seats in the back will need a new car. I don't really like big cars, so would any one have advice on a family car that isn't tank like as I'm not too great with parking.

Thanks

Phoenix · 16/01/2009 11:37

What about a Picasso or Scenic? They're not that big and Picasso's are sooo nice. We bought one yesterday (after only getting rid of one a year ago)

BonzoDoodah · 16/01/2009 12:03

Belgrano - FANTASTIC!! Wonderful result and a boy you sound like you really wanted. Woo hoo!

MrsMope - more twins! Exciting and scary and wonderful - double pleasure!

Brainmish - congratulations - a fantastic dilema for you after all that ivf. I'm sure things will work out for you. And your adopted baby will love having a sibling. And have the advantage of being the eldest (elder?) so can have a special position (if the blood ties thing worries them) of being big brov/sis to all the others. Children adapt and whatever they grow up with becomes "normal" so I wouldn't stress too much as long as they are loved.

rattling · 16/01/2009 12:10

Mrs Mope - just realised that as well as having twins too we're also due on the same day! As to weight I had the same worry till last week when I was still gradually losing weight. This week I've put on 8lbs! (and at my booking scan my two were a week ahead in size so expect to start piling on the pounds any day now)

dannyg · 16/01/2009 13:15

Hiya I'm due on the 14th of July, had my scan last week n all OK. Still feeling sick though hoping it will wear off soon, Didn't feel a rough with my first 2 (both boys). Also hoping to be able to eat something different to just Turkey or Chicken, gone off any other meat. Been feeling achy which I'm hoping is just stretching. Time seems to be going really slow, cant wait for 20 wk scan definitely going to find out sex too x x

herbgarden · 16/01/2009 13:59

Sorry just crashing your thread to say CONGRATULATIONS TO LASTBOX we were on the conception thread and I've been checking in intermittently to hope that you got good news.....very excited for you.

Don't know where the time has gone - I have only 2 weeks to go now and am rather large and fed up. DS was born in July and it's a lovely time of year with a new baby being able to go for long walks and sit outside (hopefully!) - GOOD LUCK though !
Herb

Poppet45 · 16/01/2009 14:15

Hi all, room for a little un?
Haven't had my scan yet so could in theory be bumped back to the August thread, or worse (fingers crossed and trying not to worry) but I hope you'll forgive me for lurking here unofficially til then.
Brainmish I have the same due date (for now) as you, and it's going to be my first too. July 29... is it me or does July sound like a fantastic month for a summer babe? Me and DH are November births so it'll be lovely to have a reason for summer smiles.
Rattling, Saffer and Christiana can I unofficially join the Edinburgh thread?
I'm currently living way down south but just to make things extra complicated we'll be moving up to Edinburgh in late Spring and I'm a bit worried as I'll know so few people and might end up having my antenatal classes down here which means I won't meet any new mums. I'm 30 btw.
Can you tell me more about ERI? My current hospital in Cambridge has just been named one of the best in the UK, so am a bit gutted to hear ERI's reputation, but it looks like that's where bubs will be delivered. Interesting Edinburgh was also where I got my first BFP - while on holiday!! So I'm guessing this one is already an avowed Scot.
Lovely, lovely Phoenix please could you add me to your list, as I don't want to try myself and screw it up.

Nekabu · 16/01/2009 14:16

Congratulations, Brainmish! I had my scan a couple of weeks ago and they told me that they would only advise further testing for 150 or below.

Funnily enough I was talking to someone last week whose sister had had a child by IVF (which took some time) after being told she would never be able to have them without assistance and she's just given birth after a surprise pregnancy! I've heard it mentioned a few times that after adopting or having a baby via IVF it can be like the pressure is off and with the relaxation, sometimes the old bod kick starts itself and surprises us all!

rattling · 16/01/2009 15:38

Poppet - Welcome, and sorry for scaring you about ERI. I think it is actually a fabulous hospital, but very busy. I wouldn't worry for a second about your health or your baby's - just don't ever expect to see the same person twice. It's a teaching hospital so the expertise is great, just veers a bit towards the over-medicalised. My friend who went to St.John's did so because ERI was full, and the one that went to the Borders previously had to have a late termination at ERI so gets very upset if she goes there. Recently I know someone who had the whole water birth, no painkillers, blissed out experience there.

I'm sure we'll get to know each other a bit on here, then we can try to make you welcome in this lovely city. And I'll keep you up to date with my ERI experiences.

lastboxoftampons · 16/01/2009 16:04

Welcome poppet and Dannyg

Herbgarden THANK YOU!!! We had our scan a week ago today and all was perfect, so feeling better and almost a bit confident! I've got pics of my little one in my profile - he/she's very very cute if I do say so myself!

Surely there are more twins on this thread than just four sets??? It feels like there were tons! I thought they were outnumbering the singletons!

mrsmope Congrats on your twins! Sorry I have no advice about cars!

BonzoDoodah · 16/01/2009 17:03

*mrsmope" Our neighbours have three children under 5 years old and they have an estate car and two of the child seats are fitted (properly) into the back so they face backwards out of the window. Seems like a good, safe compromise without going for a giant car.

JetLi · 16/01/2009 17:35

Welcome more newbies!
Sorry - I've just got to have a whinge. PLEASE tell me this wretched tiredness will go away soon? MW yesterday reckons it should be going by next week but it feels endless.
I daren't confess to how much sleep I'm having/needing in every 24 hours.
No idea how you folks with toddlers manage.... You all want medals as big as dustbin lids!!!
Trying Spatone just in case it's iron related. MW said it can't hurt.
Got to hear the heartbeat again yesterday which was an unexpected and lovely surprise. MW recommended recording it on my mobile phone, so I'm now playing it back to anyone who will listen

Patchybob · 16/01/2009 17:50

JetLi thats a fantastic idea, I will be taking my mobile to see the midwife! My 2 older dc will love it! I am still very tired too, can doze off after only a few minutes of sitting down!

mrsmope lots of friend so ours have tourans. They are a bit smaller than normal people carriers and I think look nice too.

I am currently sitting in a freezing cold house as my boiler has packed up. Kids had a inset day today and instead of doing something nice, we have been waiting in for british gas all day....am beginning to get really cross now, all those hormones don't help. Will either burst into tears when I see the engineer or hit him over the head with his tool box! Will let you know which one later!

LargeGlassofRed · 16/01/2009 17:56

Hi all, I saw my midwife at the doctors surgery today, she is so laid back and slightly disintrested .
when doing the heartbeats she only found one and said
'well i'm sure the other ones in there somewhere'
I asked when I should come back and she said
'oh well your seeing the hospital at the end of feb, so I probably won't need to see you again'
Left feeling weapy I know its hard to find two heartbeats but she managed it at 12 weeks and she didn't seam bothered by not finding both today, wish hadn't gone now!

JetLi · 16/01/2009 18:27

Oh LGOR that's absolutely pants for you - how insensitive is she???
After an underwhelming first MW appt. I armed myself with the NICE Antenatal Guidelines and girded my loins for yesterday but it was a different MW pair and they were lovely.

QueenFee · 16/01/2009 19:22

mrsmope I have to change my car also as I only have a lap belt in the middle, although I have found a britax seat that will fit I think it will be too much of a squash. We are looking at the peugeot 307sw or the focus cmax

jetli great idea re mobiles and heartbeat as DH hasnt heard it yet - ive got to hear it 3 times [smug]

It is difficult sometimes with a toddler (and more!) but to be honest it has made this pregnancy go so quickly - I am nearly 4 months now and it just feels like yesterday I got a BFP. I remember with my 1st looking each week to see what was happening in there - eyelashes growing fingernails forming etc - htese days I read up about once a month if i'm lucky.

Gillyan · 16/01/2009 20:59

Belgrano so so pleased for you, was so relieved when I saw your post, you must be so happy today - what a stressfull few days you must of had - getting nervous for my blood results now - not till 26th Jan

Welcome to poppet and dannyg congratulations of your pregnancies!

brainmish welcome also - congrats and god what timing for you! I have heard too about surprise pregnancies after IVF or adoption - I think it's because you chill about the conceiving or something - anyway it's great news - I can't believe that your medical situation should affect any adoption rules, that sounds crazy - but I guess rules and regs for everything are going crazy - good luck. Your new little one will be fine and will just adjust no different than any other child expecting a sibling - how old is you little one?

Had the worst day at work today - my back is killing so much that I have just left my boss a voicemail saying I am not going in tomorrow

I think I have learned my lesson today that I need to really slow down - I charge about at work like I don't know what and I don't know how to not rush - I am doing the job of about 3 people at the moment and I am seriously stressed and under pressure - I think I am just going to have to literally go slower

jetli hiya - I work 3 days a week and seem to manage not feeling tired at work - but my days off hit and I have to sleep in the afternoon - yesterday my brother and my niece came for the day and then my mum turned up and my brother is really loud and the girls were running around like mad - next thing I know I wake up and had just fallen asleep sat up with all the noise going on! Having restless nights though - keep tossing and turning.

LGOR aww that's awful and not at all reassuring - If it were me I would have to make them find out everthing is ok - don't know what to suggest, maybe go to hospital? Hope you're okay

Gillyan · 16/01/2009 21:09

SPOTS anyone else like a spotty teenager??? I have been lucky enough to never have suffered from spots but at the moment I am covered all over my face and in my hair line and I cannot leave them alone! It's horrid - I'm definatley a spotty face and greasy hair type of glow rather than a lovely pregnancy glow

Poppet45 · 17/01/2009 17:56

Oh god I've had the spots. I've not got the best skin anyhow (greying hair of a 40 year old skin of a 14 year old) but when I first found out I was preggers it was like it had become possessed.
Then I got a brief lull where I looked ace, and now I'm back to almost normal, which is less than ace.
When it was at its worst I felt very stupid doing something as grown up as preparing for motherhood while resembling Kevin the teenager.

Rattling - just spotted you're having twins, I'm one of identical twins and I can tell you it's just fantastic - my sister is being so amazingly supportive. Mind my mum didn't find out til 7 months, Drs kept accusing her of letting herself go!! She had a VB too, one month early, and it all went fine even though I ended up breech. Think we were 4lb and 4.4oz. Hope all's well with your tiny twins waves.
