lucasnorth · 12/12/2008 17:05

Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

Did I scare everyone away?! There was so much chat on the last one...

hi lucas! I reckon everyone is still wolfing down their takeaways and gorging on treats and will be along shortly to bewail their groaning tummies

woollyjo · 12/12/2008 19:20

Still here just got dd in bed, dh out on his xmas do and me rifling though my waldrobe trying to find something to hide my growing paunch for tomorrow night. 11 weeks today and there is a serious belly going on there dh told me not to worry the folk we are going out with (mates from his canoe club) will think I am always this shape - Great!

Having a flurry of social activity at the moment (well 2 nights out) went to the German Market in Brum last night - really nice but no Gluwine for me I have no self control so its all or nothing when it comes to warm alcholic drinks for me

Off for another bowl of peas and some cheesy mash I think.....

Phoenix · 12/12/2008 19:32

Ha found you

Welcome and congrats Lucas

QueenFee · 12/12/2008 19:36

cheesy mash hmmm now chips and cheese that really appeals! (make have to make emergency trip to the chippy

hi lucas! I was just being lazy and waiting for someone else to come up with a thread title.....

Natty your kids are so cute (look like as much mischief as mine!)

I must go shopping tomorrow for new bras as my current ones are seriously lacking now! any recommendations? Fancy something nice this time round as will probably be wearing them for the next 20 months (nursing)

Also annoyed as DS xmas pres arrived today and its It fell apart when I was putting the stickers on so now have to return that to Argos tomorrow. Particularly annoyed as had to pay postage as they had none in stock locally

woollyjo just realised you are not a million miles from me (It was the Brum comment that gave it away - I come from there originally)

Has anyone else had sharp stabbing pains down the side of their bump? I keep getting this at night and now wondering whether to phone MW. What do you think?

Have now uploaded a pic of me on profile

Phoenix · 12/12/2008 19:40

Queenfee - I've just ate cheesy chips from the take away

QueenFee · 12/12/2008 19:42

You see great minds think alike

JetLi · 12/12/2008 19:43

Thanks BonzoDoodah - did you find your asthma went bonkers in your first pregnancy? I sort of expected mine would alter but not until later on. I'm normally very well controlled and have been positively religious with my meds. DP is being v.positive - he reckons for me to be wiped out like this, my immune system must be very low, so the hormones must be raging. Bless him. This is because the Dr. last night said my immune system is non-existent because I'm suffering with a "Parasitic infection commonly known as Pregnancy". He was ace honestly!
Congrats lucasnorth! Woollyjo - I shall be attempting a mulled apple juice experiment this weekend, all being well - will let you know how it measures up to the real thing.

lucasnorth · 12/12/2008 20:10

Thanks all for congratulations and welcome

The cheese and potato thing goes for me too - made a huge shepherd's pie with melted cheese on top and ate about a kilo! Comfort food all the way for me at the moment. Recipe said to serve with a green vegetable, but I couldn't be bothered with that

hello everyone, having a shocking day of ms. I really thought I would be feeling better by now.

Hi lucas! jetli sorry your asthma went bonkers. Love the 'parasitic infection' - but it is useful to know that the baby IS a parasite and will take all the good out of you, did you know it depletes your own omega oils to make sure that its brain is up to scratch!

i have been sick twice today but such such nausea. i have only managed to eat two pieces of toast and one boiled potato all day. having some hot milk now. boy that baby must be depleting all my resources as I have very poor nutritional intake at the mo, and the vitamins made me throw this morning.

DH came home this afternoon to take DD off my hands for a bit, now he's back out on work do.

have 6 people coming for dinner tomorrow! going to do a Swedish feast. however can't even face thought of fish at moment. will stick to the round crispy bread.

christmasiana · 12/12/2008 20:28

queenfee let me know when you find lovely bras. i had elle macpherson nursing bras last time. however do you think the ones you buy now will work for feeding? my size has gone above 32E now and last time I think I had 34F or G or something crazy, and when my milk came in I have never realised that it was possible to have such ENORMOUS breasts. I look at pics now of my DD suckling in the first few days she looks like a little pea on a football.

QueenFeeUntoUsAChildIsBorn · 12/12/2008 21:47

Here I am with a nice new cristmas name to keep you company
I am a 32e and last time I got away with the same bra all the way through. I find the engorgement only lasted a couple of days then I went back to my pregnant size (they have balooned )
The way I look at it is they don't fit for the first couple of months they will once feeding is established and your boobs shrink again
Someone recomended Hotmilk to me so off to see if I can get this bra tomorrow

bozetteallthemincepies · 12/12/2008 21:53

Ooooh takeaway! i'm banned from that at the mment, we calculated we were spending at least £1000 a year at our local chinese takeaway alone and are trying to economise. I'm not allowed into waitrose either which is just down the road, only lidl, which is actually rather good!!

Sympathies to all the nauseous ladies out there. i kept thinking about my rather disgusting lunch (toasted steak, chedder and onion ciabatta from costa) and finally got rid of it about 45 mins ago. have alreadyreplaced it with rather nicer tortellini.

love all the piccies. my 9 week bump is suddenly rather prominent, don't think i'll post it!

woollyjo · 12/12/2008 21:59

queenfee I live in Shropshire, our trip to Brum was a rare trip to the big (well lots of tiny and very pretty) lights.

Really windy here tonight (outside that is, for once) there's a roof tile on the grass out back can't hear any dripping inside - yet

QueenFeeUntoUsAChildIsBorn · 12/12/2008 22:31

Its really windy here (north wales) tonight too, just waiting for my DD to wake and cry beacuse there is a monster outside

christmasiana · 12/12/2008 23:53

windy here too in edinburgh

god still feeling so sick and i haven't been able to eat anything and now i think that's making me feel more sick and that i'm stuck in some weird sick circle of hell

please suggest something i could eat that i might not have thought of. no sweets in house and it's nearly midnight. can't bear idea of toast, potatoes or any slippery pasta. meat and fish and eggs and cheese are the devil's work. ditto slimy vegetables and acidy fruit.

aaaeeeeuuuuggghhhh everyone's probably in bed aaahhehehehehehguuuu take away the retching

JetLi · 13/12/2008 00:26

A big spoon of Marmite in a mug of hot water to make a drink is my fave hangover/nausea/vomiting cure Christmasiana - v.salty and savoury but light on a delicate tum. Plus full of those excellent B-Vits.
Of course some people think the flavour of Marmite is like licking a cats arse - but ask yourself, how would they know?!
A mug of Bovril would also do the trick for me.
HTH! Nite nite

christmasiana · 13/12/2008 00:33

interesting... may give it a go... my DH hates marmite so much he tries to throw the jars in the bin but i have some hidden in a cupboard

thanks very much

how are you feeling now? has sickness returned?

JetLi · 13/12/2008 00:34

Or an extremely spicy Virgin Mary - buckets of tabasco and Hendos/Lea & Perrins. Sorry these things all work on vomming for me - I'm honestly not trying to make you feel worse! Anyway the Aussies apparently don't call it a Virgin Mary when the vodka is missing - they call is a Bloody Shame which I think it a much better name

JetLi · 13/12/2008 00:36

Sadly not so far. But trying to be positive - at least no bleeding or cramping. Plus I think the steroids have finally kicked in so my chest feel loads better.

christmasiana · 13/12/2008 00:37

hmmm don't think i can stomach tomato juice but with you in principle on liking the savoury end of things. wish i had some crisps actually! i could take crisps hmmmm. DH still out on work Christmas do, i wonder if he could pick some up for me on way home... i should really be asleep

like the Aussie name... also i guess you'd like a bullshot? like a bloody mary but made with beef stock not tomato juice

maybe what i need is a shot of vodka (barf)

right off to boil the kettle for the marmite drink

christmasiana · 13/12/2008 10:49

sorry jetli got your last message after closing mt laptop for the night

am sure everything is ok, pleas try not to worry

gosh the marmite i'm afraid did not do any favours... final puke of the day! but i slept well...

lucasnorth · 13/12/2008 21:01

Hmmmm

Crisps...

Cheese ...

DORITOS!!!!

(but they'll have to wait for tomorrow because I'm lazy )

Soooooo tired!!!

DD had her 2nd birthday party today and I was up till 11.30pm last night finishing the Igglepiggle cake, then up ridiculously early making sandwiches etc and trying not to throw up on them!!!

Had 10 children plus accompanying adults in our little house but it was absolutely fab! I was amazed how good the little ones were, the adults chatted and the kiddies played in the conservatory. We had the slide out, the new little kitchen and a drawing table plus a garage for the boys (and DD)! It was so cute watching them starting to play together properly

We are now inundated with food though as I made way too much having panicked all morning that there would not be enough!

I am not having too bad a day with the ms although it does seem to have settled back into all day sickness now. Not sure which I prefer, the constant nausea days or the actual throwing up days??

I can't believe we have another set of twins on the thread!!! Anyone fancy going for trips???

Hope all are well this evening and starting to enjoy the build-up to Xmas. I am swinging in and out of the festive mood but I hope now that the party is out of the way I can really get into it!

Can't remember who was saying about home births but I am going for one too. They are sort of standard where we live as it is an hour in each direction to the hospitals and the mw's are soooo pro-hb it is untrue!! Also if I can have this baby at home he/she will be Cornish but if he/she is born in hospital they will be ummm....Devonish?? Devonian?? What is the word I am looking for !! I want to have a pool, but not sure where we would put it - maybe in the conservatory but I guess we'd have to put blinds up for the neighbours sakes!!!!! Mind you our neighbours are so friendly they'd probably pop round and join me in there!!!!!

Ah, I have waffled on again with this post, lots of love to all,

xxxx
