Hope all is OK TBM.

Just showing off my Xmas name.....back to work now

mumoverseas · 05/12/2008 08:09

hi, hope all ok this morning, especially you TBM. You just CAN'T go into labour yet, you are my new medical advisor as you seem to know more than most of the doctors I've spoken to recently. Don't know if I'm coming or going as when I had my last appointment at hospital around 2 weeks ago the doctor I saw said absolutely no need for blood thinners and to take aspirin just before I fly.
Decided as I'm going to get poked and prodded today may as well get the GTT over with so just had yummy 410mls of lucozade for breakfast. Nice. NOT!
Lardy hope you will be ok. I thought at one of the first booking in appointments the hospitals did full blood tests which showed what you had immunity for so hopefully all ok.

KT1983 · 05/12/2008 08:53

Morning,

TFI FRIDAY!!!

Hope your ok TBM? Will keep checking on here today for some news x

MrsChristmasY · 05/12/2008 09:09

Second that KT!

MOS - I had to drink the GTT liquid at the hospital...The first set of bloods was after fasting since 10 the previous night, then you drink the stuff, then you have the second set of bloods. Did your mw/gp tell you to drink lucozade before you go in?

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 05/12/2008 09:15

KT1983 make the most of that Firay feeling. Soon every day will be the hardest work day you've ever done.

Sorry! Can you tell DS kept me awake most of the night & that I am pissed off with DH because he thinks having a day off work involves him lying in bed for as long as he wants and doing what he wants all day while I carry on doing everything I always do.

MarkStretch · 05/12/2008 09:21

Another week of work down!

I have to go into my office today, how dare they try and make use of me!

Still counting down the days til mat leave.....how many is it now QK???

littleboyblue · 05/12/2008 09:26

I was just thinking myself, is it friday? oh. Doesn't mean anything to me now . I remember the days when by this time I was planning what to wear out, where I'd go, who I'd hope to bump into , and now...... It might as well be monday. How depressing.

Know what you mean hohoho, they seem to think a day off work means a day off life don't they? My dp has been off now for 4 days, how many lay ins have I had? 0
Yesterday, I needed to go Tescos for dinner (I go everyday) but I have to take ds as I find it really hard to walk or carry anything without the help of the pushchair. He decided he'd come with us (not go for me), before we were there I was in tears, did he tell me to go home? Did he f**k.
I've told him that when this baby arrives, he is to carry him around in the carrier/sling evrytime he is at home to see what it's like.

Apart from that, everything's fine here. Ds seems to be alot better this morning, after a difficult night of trying the cot without the bars (lasted 2 hours and I put them back on again)

KT1983 · 05/12/2008 09:42

LBB - I feel for you. Is it your back that aching? Or just aches & pains in general?

Credit to all of you who are pregnant and have DC already. Expecially younger ones, it must be Sooo hard.

Not too much longer until Crimbo now, so we can all have a day or two off doing not alot but eat, drink & be merry...Well, a glass or two of bubbly at least

PinkTulips · 05/12/2008 09:48

my god women.... 58 messages on the new thread already!!!

how on earth do ye expect me to keep up at that rate!

laidback, sorry to hear you're not feeling too great... hope the ABs shift it for you quickly. i know how you feel about taking them, i never take ABs either but i had to give in when i had that chest infection and i felt so guilty.... but at the end of the day a sick mummy isn't much good for a growing baby either so it really is the lesser of 2 evils.

THOM, rest assured you're not the only one lacking in baby basics. i have lots of stupid things like little outfits left over from the other 2 but i have a grand total of 2 babygros and 5 vests that a newborn could wear i can't pack a hospital bag as i have nothing to pack in it! need to visit penneys to buy clothes for me and baby but can't do that as it's a huge drive away and not worth going when i don't have much cash. dp's not being paid for this week off so we're really in the shits for money now, thank god i had the kids presents sorted already for xmas!

not a fan of weekends here..... all it means is the kids around the house all day long wrecking the place and no money to go do anything.... at least during the week i have the playschool run and shopping to do to break up the days a bit.

LBB... snap on the annoyingly unhelpful dp/dh. i had a murderous chest infection and a bad case of thrush and my back was in pieces the week before last but i still had to get up with the kids while he lay in bed because he was 'sick'. not too sick to stop smoking or not go out to his friends til 4am (and he wonders why i'm not more sympathethic that he gave himself pneumonia!) but too sick to get out of bed and help the pregnant woman coughing a lung up while doubled over in agony with her back

littleboyblue · 05/12/2008 09:50

Hi KT. Just all over really, back is bad but bump gets really tight too when walking and then there's the chest pain too and not sure if pushchair is actually helping as uses tomach muscles to push it. I want to walk hunched over but then can't stand up straight withut it being really bad. Having to carry ds and pushchair and shopping up and down stairs doesn't help either... But there are those alot worse off so shouldn't moan really. I just want dp to pull his finger out and let me stay in bed for a bit. He said yesterday that when there's 2 of them, he will at the least take one of them off my hands for a few hours over the weekends, but ds is now 16m and has been out with just his dad once, and that was because I told him he had to take him out as the dog had fleas and ds couldn't be in the house while I was going round with powders and sprays.

Rant over

littleboyblue · 05/12/2008 09:52

Lots of sympathy to you too PT Don't know why we bloody bother with them sometimes.

KT1983 · 05/12/2008 10:09

Go on Strike LBB & PT

Sounds like you need a good soak in the bath & a glass of wine LBB, bit of relaxation

My DP has PROMISED that when he comes home from work at 6 each day, he will take the baby off of me for a few hours, so I can go to gym/walk/visit friends etc...
But I know Im living in a bit of a dreamworld if I actually think that will happen in reality.

oooggs · 05/12/2008 10:16

have missed you all x

I am really struggling, have been having pains for days, the dts have been poorly so up in the night, I am exhausted and now have a mouth full of spots & nasties and can't eat or speak properly

I fainted at the drs yesterday and feel like shit

sorry to moan but whose great idea was it to have no. 4 when dts are so little???????? (and have the builders in doing the loft conversion)

come on own up!!!!!!!!!!

tink - so glad to read that baby is still where baby should be

will try and keep up - 32 weeks today!

Questionkid · 05/12/2008 10:24

MS - according to my calculations, 12 working days left til mat leave! Yaayyyyyyyyyy!! Last time we did a count I'm sure it was late 20's or early 30's. I've now definitely decided not to work from home in January, I'm going to have my month off before the baby comes and enjoy every minute. So I'm officially on mat leave from 5 January but with lots of lovely holiday taken over xmas.

So I'm ok for the 19th for the London meet up, provided he doesn't come early. But could also do a bit earlier as I'll be on mat leave already. Sorry, did I mention that already? Just in case you didn't hear me, I'LL BE ON MAT LEAVE ALREADY BY THEN. I think I'm getting a bit over-excited.

My face is getting really fat by the way, I'm upset about that. I keep looking in the mirror and seeing disappearing cheek bones and a distinct double chin. And MS keeps making me want mince pies.

mumoverseas · 05/12/2008 10:27

Hi all, back from first trip to hospital today!
MrsCY, I thought it was a bit odd about having to drink lucozade before I went but that was what was in the information sheet the midwife gave me and that was what the hospital said was right too. Last time with DD I had the test in Saudi and had to go to hospital for blood test, drink some nasty stuff and have bloods taken every hour for next 3 hours. According to the blood dept this morning, they said that this is the old test and the one I did was a newer (and nicer!) one! Thank god, didn't fancy sitting around the hospital for hours feeling so ill. Nearly fainted I was so hungry! Just home for an hour or so before I have to go to a different hospital half an hours drive away about my blood. Soooo tired!
oogs, sorry you are unwell, must have been scary fainting but I guess you were in the right place and hope you feel better soon

PinkTulips · 05/12/2008 10:32

ooogs , sorry you're feeling rough.

sounds like you need to dump the kids with friends/relatives or plonk them in front of the tv and take a couple of hours for yourself. let the house dissolve around you, there's no point cleaning with builders about anyway and let the kids shout, scream and kill each other in the next room while you have a cuppa and some biscuits.

are the apins regular pregnancy pains or are you having contractions? have you had it checked out by the mw/doctor?

KT1983 · 05/12/2008 10:36

oooggs - you sound like your having a rough time of it
Hope you start to feel a little better soon x

KT1983 · 05/12/2008 10:39

QK - I am VERY excited about Maternity leave too - My work is closing over the christmas period & I have a few days holiday between now & Christmas Eve, so ive got 10 days left at work
Im taking all of Jan as annual leave, think its great that im still entitled to my 4weeks and then my official Mat Leave starts on the 2nd Feb.

So ive all January to settle into my new home & get things organised for baby.

oooggs · 05/12/2008 10:40

they are like contractions but are not regular so must be braxtons but believe it or not I have never had them before

sat here 'eating' bonjela [yuk]

nkweto · 05/12/2008 10:51

oooogs do we have the same due date? I am 32 weeks today too! I hope you feel better soon.. horrible to feel low and run down.

Hi everyone else, I have resigned myself to never actually being able to catch up with this thread.. so will continue lurking.. and occassionally managing a post!

theHoHoHouseofmirth you can put me on the least prepared list.. we have done nothing, and i can't quite imagine when we are going to get it all together....

Hope everyone is doing well, and has a fab weekend.. Dinky stinky, enjoy Coppenhagen and I hope you get loads of great, bright, multi coloured baby clothes ..

oooggs · 05/12/2008 10:58

nkweto - 30 January? 8 weeks and counting?

so this is your 2nd - how old is you other one?

PinkTulips · 05/12/2008 11:51

keep an eye on them... my contractions were never regular with either labour so i'm not sure that's a good indicator. if they're painful more than uncomfortable it might be no harm having it checked out, if it is early labour it could be stopped if caught early enough.

can you check your own cervix to see if you're dilating? (unpleasant i know but when i started contracting at 20 weeks with ds after a smear test if figured it was better to check myself than go back to the idiot hospital who caused the problem in the first place!)

oooggs · 05/12/2008 12:03

with ds1 my waters went at 36 weeks and with dts I was induced at 38 weeks so don't really know what the start of a contraction labour is like!!!!!!!!!!

But then who does as they are all different.

A smear in pregnacy I didn't think you were supposed to have them

MarkStretch · 05/12/2008 12:08

16 days until Mat Leave for meeeeee!

I can't believe that only a few months ago we were all cautiously introducing ourselves after our BFP's and now we're on a countdown to Maternity Leave!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

eejaykay · 05/12/2008 12:48

Hi everyone

Big virtual hugs to everyone who is feeling crap, especially those wrestling with young kids and especially especially those whose DPs are not pulling their weight. Can we get a job description for being a parent, along with annual appraisals and reward schemes? You can sit down with hubby / partner every january and decide whether they are getting any bonking / meals cooked for them / clean pants / holidays organised / whatever you do for them that you'd be prepared to stop doing depending on past performance!

32 days til maternity leave for me but that's actually good, I'm panicking about how much I have to sort out before I leave. Hopefully, by early Feb I won't care though! I'll try and pop into a Jan lunchtime meet up, even though I don't have a wriggler of my own yet...

Fingers crossed they decide not to put you on Heparin, MOS; sounds like you're getting loads of conflicting info at the moment. Hope you have a lovely weekend away, Dinky, Copenhagen sounds gorgeous. When are you moving KT? Sounds really exciting.. TBM - still with us?? One more weekend of painting for me us and then we're into sorting out mode (aka getting rid of the ridiculously large collection of books / DVDs / CDs / comics we've fecklessly wasted our cash on for years).

Yay Christmas smileys!
