Morning all. I don't even know when my waters went last time

Well, last night's film was a strange one. it was The Midnight Meat Train with Vinnie Jones (yummy) but it was really wierd and a bit gorry at times. I wouldn't say scary (although I did have bad dream last night), it's not going to leave me screaming in my sleep for years like Chucky did!!
Don't know what we're doing today, dp's going back to bed as he has to work tonight, so if it stays dry, might wrap ds up and take him to the park, he's not been out the house for a few days and is staring longinly out the window!
Hope you all have good day.

swampster · 06/12/2008 12:30

Love the name, MrsChristmasY!

MrsChristmasY · 06/12/2008 13:08

Thanks - was aiming for wife of Father Christmas but should have gone for MrsClaus to clarify, but quite like being Mrs Christmasy! What can you be? Maybe grinchster?

Speaking of baby-related tv stuff, saw a trailer last night for The Pregnant Man (can't remember when or where) and it totally freaked me out...

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday. I'm washing a load of clothes given to us by a friend who's youngest is nearly a year, but they've obviously been in bag for a few months as they're rather musty...

littleboyblue · 06/12/2008 13:15

I've just done the ironng and cleaned my kitchen, also have the nappy wrapper in soak as it stinks, so waiting for ds to wake up for a snack, then I might take him to the park for a little run around (someone nicked the swings) and then it's another trip to tescos for tonights dinner. How fun is that!

TBM Hope you ok.....

herbgarden · 06/12/2008 13:28

Afternoon all - glad to hear that your days are all as mundane as mine (sorry if anyone is having an exciting day but don't tell me about it if you are I'll only be envious ). DS woke at 2.45am and I managed to explain to him that it really was the middle of the night and he wasn't coming in our bed. He then went back to sleep til 7.45 except dh and I decided last night that we really had to do his family xmas shop (I refuse to do it for him) - so we were leaving at 8.30am.....Managed to convince dh and ds to get out of bed and dressed - quick cooked breakfast in Debenhams and 2 hours later we pretty much had it done (we were quite efficient in the decision making )....

I'm now on the sofa watching charlie and lola with ds having just washed my kitchen floor. DH is laying yet more laminate flooring (he'll be able to sell his services soon and do some moonlighting) and I'm waiting for a friend to arrive with her 3 kids under 5 (she told me to "brace myself" -I haven't seen them all in while - !)...

So, there you have it - another exciting day in the herbgarden household.

PS my bump is very lopsided some days - I suppose it just depends which way lo has decided to lie but it's a bit weird isn't it.

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 06/12/2008 13:52

Hello ladies, tinternet has been playing up for the last few days so have not been able to get on only sporadically.
How is TBM doing? Is she still with us in the preggy sense of the word?
Was at the hospital all of this morning as Lo has been hardly moving at all, needless to say he started to perform beautifully when i got there and had the trace done but am very relieved. My blood pressure was stupidly high though so ive got to go back to the day assesment unit tomorrow for another blood pressure series as they are watching out for pre eclampsia as have had that before. Dont think its that personally though i think its just because i was a bit stressed at babys lack of movements - still am very glad the day assesment unit is open at weekends!
MOS sorry to hear your GTT came back impaired - injecting isnt so bad and you do get used to it. Ive only just started to inject in my tummy (i used to use my hips or tops of my leg) and i find thats the most painless place and im putting in a fair bit now 40 units 4 times a day and it feels ok when its going in (use my bum for nightime injection though as plenty of padding there too! )
Its sooo cold here although absolutely beautiful - this is my fave type of winter weather (bar snow) all crisp and clear ... I think ive finally got all my pressie shopping done now (hooray) just going to get DD1 a little laptop eee pc thingy on Tuesday and thats it - all done

littleboyblue · 06/12/2008 14:06

Glad everything ok rosie, they little buggers aren't they? I had it with ds, no movement for a while and the minute I walk through those automatic doors.....

mumoverseas · 06/12/2008 15:30

hello all, hope everyone ok today.
Rosie, sorry to read about your scare but glad LO was ok. Ref GTT, not had the results of this yet, the jabs are due to my high risk of dvt (having had one before, being old and being overweight!) I'd wanted to get it over with first thing every morning but when I read all the paperwork and labels on the boxes it says I have to do it at 6pm everynight, great, something to look forward to all day. I know I'll get used to it and must sound pathetic whimpering about it but I absolutely hate needles and there is just something so wrong about injecting into your pregnant stomach. Poor you with 4 times a day (I really am pathetic moaning about once) guess I have to get used to it as late onsent diabetes runs in my family so guess this is good practice. I hope your blood pressure settles down rosie and that everything goes ok tomorrow.
On the brightside, my wonderful DH phoned this morning and said sod it, he is coming home early for xmas. He wasn't due back til the 16th but is coming back next Thursday as he is worried about me being all alone (apart from sick 2 year old and DS)
Was really cheered up earlier reading the christmas mumsnet appeal thread and it is lovely reading the messages from women who have received parcels out of the blue. Really put a smile on my face.

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 06/12/2008 15:35

Yep LBB i couldnt sleep for worrying last night tried everything to get him to move and then et voila! the minute the trace goes on off he goes lol still a very happy bunny here this afternoon - am totally convinced the BP readings were as a result of me being stressed and worried so we shall see for tomorrow. Gosh sun is just about down here already - i cant believe how short the days are too ... yay its nearly Christmas!

mumoverseas · 06/12/2008 15:50

oh rosie i'm sure the BP readings would have been because of you being stressed. Hope all ok tomorrow for you. x

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 06/12/2008 15:52

MOS sorry i wasnt sure what you were injecting for but thought as you were doing the old stomach thing that it might have been GD - am glad they are sorting out some preventative measures for a DVT as my friend had one too and they are pretty rubbish - is it warfrine (not sure how to spell it)? Consultant said something about me going on that towards the end of my preg in time for CS as am overweight, old and havent had one before but she seems to think i am at risk. Woohoo about your DH coming home early thats great news and im sure you have a very happy heart today .
I do know what you mean though about injecting in your tummy ( but mines got plenty of padding on it so seems to be the best place ive found ) dont worry about being a wuss it isnt nice at the best of times and is even more rubbish having to do it when pregnant.
Had a lovely couple of hours going through gorgeous baby clothes. I have only bought about 5 new outfits and the rest i have bought in bundles on ebay, am really pleased with the things i got, i tended to bid on osh kosh newborn and sucre d orge, emile et rose and i got loads for about 30 quid (probably wouldnt even get two outfits for that price) and if my memory serves me correctly newborns and very little ones hardly seem to get any wear out of those types of clothes anyway so the stuff ive got is as new and he probably wont wear more than 3 or 4 times. Am a bit worried about the sizing though as even today when midwife prodded my stomach she said gosh hes quite big already isnt he which i knew anyway but everytime i have a scan or get examined they say that and im starting to get visions of a 10lb + lo. Have another growth scan week after next so will ask the approx weight - i know they are not always that accurate but he is definately big because i dont remember being this large with any of my others
Will have a look at that Christmas mumsnet appeal thread ... aww love a good bit of Christmas cheer!

mumoverseas · 06/12/2008 17:18

hi rosie, well I may well get the GD jabs too at this rate. Its not warfarin, its a form of heparin called clexane(I think) Like you, i've got enough padding so plenty of places to jab myself (must go and do in a minute!) I had warfarin years ago when I had my dvt and although it was easier just taking tablets, it was a pain having to keep going to the hospital every other day to have the blood levels checked and the doseage adjusted. I hope you don't have to end up on it but I guess its better to be on the safe side.

Like you I've not bought too many new outfits, about 5 or 6 in the sales in Saudi before I left. Only have around 5 or 6 ones from DD I can use that are neutral as all the rest were pink! lots and lots of pink and like you say, she hardly wore any of them. I have a wardrobe in Saudi full of lovely osh kosh and other designer stuff that she never wore.
10lb +? ouch, have the cs!

littleboyblue · 06/12/2008 18:04

MoS You don't sound pathetic at all! I wouldn't want to do it. You must be getting ready to do it now, so hope it goes ok.
That's good about your hubby coming home early

rosie I'm sure the bp was for the stress, mine was high a week or two ago because I was running late for my appointment and got a bit stressed out. You'll see tomorrow though.

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 06/12/2008 20:28

I jolly well hope so LBB like you said we shall see tomorrow, worse case i will have to go on that yukky medicine to bring it down but better safe than sorry.

Oh ok MOS, i think what the obs wants me to do is to take it a little in advance of my CS to reduce the risk but i think its in tablet form ... cant be sure though. Poor you having a DVT thats scary! A friend of mine had one after her twins CS and it was a good 4 weeks too, i am going to get up and walk around as much as i can afterward although id love to be lazy lol and use it all as an excuse to do absolutely nothing!

I remember spending a fortune on gorgeous stuff for all of my girls ... im probably an awful lot better off now than i was then but i am also alot more sensible and i just dont see the point in spending hundreds of pounds on things that he wont be in for very long, things like cots and car seats of course i will buy new but its all a bit of a racket when it comes to baby stuff ... i really really want one of those arms reach co sleeper cots but they are £250 here and in the states half price if not less which i think is disgusting - god i hate being ripped off! lol ok rant over but you know what i mean

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 06/12/2008 20:30

Ohhh MOS hope your injection went well ... i usually dont look and just jab it in (hoping for the best lol) i can always usually find a nice chubby spot though to negate the initial 'owch'

TinkerBellesMum · 06/12/2008 23:09

Hey all, I?ve been on a training course today and it?s Mum?s birthday, so I?m sorry I?ve been quiet. I can?t believe how much this thread moves!

MOS, given your history I?m not surprised they would want you on ACT, more surprised it?s taken them this long to come up with the idea! It?s funny, although some doctors will say it has to go in the belly, you can guarantee nurses and MWs will put it in the arm! Another tip, take it at night, firstly you?re asleep if it aches and secondly you don?t risk waking up to find someone about to stab you! I couldn?t believe someone did that to me, she wasn?t even going to wake me up, she was poised over my arm with a needle in her hand. Her excuse was she thought I was only on it because I was post-section I?ve posted on the Hughes support forum to see if anyone can help, it could be a school thing or there may be a reason. I know a lot of them wouldn?t do it there either and if anyone has any links they will.

BTW, I was freaked out when they first told me I?d have to do it, actually they said I didn?t have to do it and I argued to do it whilst simultaneously kicking myself and calling myself an idiot! However, I didn?t want to risk the baby and that was far more important than not taking it.

Rosie, I?d check about Warfarin, it?s not supposed to be given in pregnancy as it can cross the placenta, unless you?ve been told you?re going to be given Heparin (Clexane is the usual brand) but that doesn?t sound likely if they?re putting you on the tablets. Insulin isn?t too bad into the stomach but Heparin causes bruising so it?s really painful there as it doesn?t disperse into fat. I?m also surprised that they want to do it because of a CS as it increases the risk of bleeding into the spine when they do epidural, that?s the reason I had to have a GA last time.

KT there are less than 50 (can?t remember whether it?s even less than that off the top of my head) and most of them work in management or training. It?s very rare to have one actually working as a MW.

QK, left is good, that?s where you want them to be before delivery

O&U I know, I can?t believe it ? 32 tomorrow!!! But it does mean 7 weeks of contractions! Monday is the equivalent day when I think Tink was born (they put her a few days younger than I did, but it was Christmas week and we know when I ovulated and when we had sex) so I?m around the longest I?ve been. Today has been pretty quiet, but I wouldn?t expect more than a week now, I?d actually be glad if she comes sometime soon, I can?t be doing with all this now and we know she?s at a good age.

Agree about the hair, my legs remain undone, but I have done other places. I can?t reach my feet so TBD has said he?ll pay for me to get a pedicure (rather than do it himself) and I need to get done soon! Someone on the September 06 club had quite a rude comment from a doctor about how long things had got, he would have been decked if it had been me he had passed comment on!

PT, in America it?s routine to do smears in pregnancy. I was shocked when I first used an American parenting forum and women were talking about them.

TinkerBellesMum · 07/12/2008 08:55

Morning all!

Did everyone have an early night and sleep in? It's unusual for it to be so quiet around here!

mumoverseas · 07/12/2008 08:58

yay, congratulations TBM for making it to 32 weeks (please tell me you are still hanging in there???????) (BTW, I see what you mean about bruising in the stomach!)

rosie, hope your hospital visit goes ok today and BP back to normal.

everyone else, happy sunday

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 07/12/2008 09:08

Morning all :-)
Tink tbh i dont know the name of the stuff just that the obstetrician suggested that i go on some medication just prior (or maybe it was just after) the CS as she thought that i was at risk of DVT's i wasnt listening particularly as it was when i was around 16 weeks but i was sure tablets were mentioned, anyway i dont mind what she gives me as like i said i dont fancy a DVT much! Glad you are still hanging in there - i dont expect it will be long now but the longer in your tummy the less time in SCBU it seems like even though your body might be, Fifi is in no hurry
MOS im lazing in bed for as long as poss so that when i get to the hospital its nice and low and no methldopa for me! I think the only reason im keen on not taking it is because Obs told me about all of the nasty side effects which im keen to avoid.
The ground outside is cripsy and white ... and it feels all Christmassy today!

Calico1 · 07/12/2008 10:21

Morning all

I have a luxurious toddler free day today as DH has taken DS to see his granny in the Midlands - though I have been up since 5.30 packing the day bag of stuff DS might need.....
Honestly I should just leave DH to it and then he'd realise that the nappy and baby wipe pixies don't actually exist.

Can't think what to do with myself - though contemplating Xmas shopping as it'll be my only chance without DS in tow.

Glad everyone is ok - Rosie, I did the same when I was pregnant with DS. I spent 2 days worrying that he hadn't moved and then voila he was performing as if on a trampoline once I got to the hospital.....

TinkerBellesMum · 07/12/2008 10:37

I'm still here, think Mum is a little disappointed she was hoping FiFi would come on her birthday. I don't think it will be long now, I've passed my target and things seem to be pointing that way. I've been worried that it will happen soon for awhile but now I'm happy if it does and think it will.

I've been thinking about the injections, lots of people have seen me do it or I've spoken about it, in Liverpool too, and no one has ever said it shouldn't go into the legs.

Rosie, if it's tablets it's Warfarin, which can't be taken in pregnancy, Heparin only comes in needles. It's safe (according to LactMed) after pregnancy if you're BFing. If they plan on doing a CS you shouldn't have any ACT for at least 12 hours before but I think they prefer 24 hours as they can't do an epidural/spinal as there is a risk of bleeding into the spine which is dangerous. As you say though, if it was at 16 weeks you probably didn't take it all in properly thinking they'll tell you again later - 40 weeks seems like forever when you're 16!

MrsChristmasY · 07/12/2008 10:59

Morning all - we've got a day of hell ahead of us - big food shop and then a trip to IKEA - du du duuuuuur!

Wish me luck that we don't come back with a van-full of baby crap we don;t need, empty wallets and a decree nisi!

PinkTulips · 07/12/2008 11:35

starting to feel christmassy isn't it?! it was so frosty here this morning i thought it had snowed for a minute.

we're off to the christmas fair in my oarents village to bring the kids to see santa. dd posted her letter to him yesterday with her dummy included and has been very good about it so far, hasn't asked once yet or tried to snatch ds'

i'm getting so stressed about the money situation.... i keep thinking of things that we need for xmas that i won't be able to get til a few days before xmas now. no idea what to do about dp's parnts, they'll be coming up in the next week or so and we have nothing for them and literally not a penny to spare to buy anything, as it is we'll be living off freezer reserves next week! why the hell did he have to pick christmas time to get freaking pneumonia and miss work ok, unfair i know but fgs this is turning into a nightmare!

TBM, well done getting to 32 weeks.... i still think you'll end up going alot further than you thought you would

calico.... am very of you're child free day.... dd has just bitten ds on the hand and left a huge mark, he's screaming on my lap coz it hurts and dd is screaming on the naughty step claiming she 'didn't do it' i don't see any one else around love so that ain't gonna work!

PinkTulips · 07/12/2008 11:40

oh bugger..... i had signed up to do the xmas appeal this year as we received from it a couple of years ago and it made such a huge differance to our christmas. have just gotton the email matching me with someone and i don't see anyway in hell i can stretch the 50 euros i have to last 2 weeks to buying presents for 2 teenagers and posting them off

going to have to email stgeorge and tell her i can't do it which just makes me an awful human being
