kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 11:45

I know Sorky, I think now I am not worrying about where I am going to have him I feel a bit more relaxed. Until tomorrow where the MW will probably come up with loads of reasons why I can't have him at home.

Playing, It was pretty useless and I felt like it was a waste of time. The brace does nothing at all.

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 11:56

It must be a huge relief Kay.

I don't think Dh's fully understand that we need to know the where's and what-for's in advance.

It's like needing to have the room, bedding, clothes all ready. It helps you sort through the birth process in your head doesn't it?

In 19 days or less you'll have your baby....I'm a teensy bit jealous I have to say .

Clothes ready? Dont be daft!!! Well we do but he has no socks!! They are on the 2nd mothercrap order and god knows when it will arrive. So he'll have cold feet.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/12/2008 12:03

Sorry I don't know about physio/osteopaths etc.

Kay, if there is no medical reason not to have him at home then stand your ground. They may well surprise you, my MW's were very supportive of the HB with DS2, they made it clear that if anything happened medically to stop it then that's where their support ended but they were really good up until the PE started (and at which point a HB went out of the window), and that was with the IU. In fact one of them even remembered I'd had a HB booked and asked me about it this time.

Yes thanks 2BG, I got an appt. for him - 8 o'clock this evening, the poor thing will feel like shit by then if the last few nights are anything to go off, but it was then or nothing. He has managed to eat a digestive biscuit, it's just so strange for him, he isn't a 'sicky' child but when he get's a temp. the first thing is he is sick, and he hasn't been this time. Hope DH get's you something lovely Deffo make a list of things to ask at your next appt. have a note pad waiting and then when you think of things you can note them down instead of trying to remember it all at once.

I have put DS2 to bed, was going to have a sleep myself to catch up on last nights feeble attempt at sleeping but nope, DH is on his way home for lunch, will be holding my eyes open with match sticks by tonight!

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/12/2008 12:05

Well in that case I don't know why I am wasting my time trying to get physio! I have crutches and even a wheelchair! Maybe I should just book an osteo apt? Well, might as well see the gp and see what he says.

Yay for the home birth Kay. I am still tempted I must admit but for now at least I am using my local birth centre. More because it was shut down for nearly a year due to staff shortages and they finally got it up and running 7 days a week this year so its a case of use it or loose it. Plus they have a lovely birth pool and is only 1/2 mile away!

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 12:06

As far as I know there is no medical reason I can't have a HB. I'm just worried that if they have to close the MLU due to staff shortages, they'll say there are no MWs.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/12/2008 12:20

They have to provide you with a MW by law, and it isn't a case of you (or anyone else having a HB) taking MW's away from a working ward, HB's are attended by CMW's, so they can't use that excuse.

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 12:24

Even if they do have staff shortages they would have to pay for an independent m/w to attend the hb.

Thats good to hear. My mum actually thinks its a good idea!! I wasn't expecting her too at all. When she had us it was very much you will have them in hospital, you will formula feed them and various other cr*p.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/12/2008 12:31

It was the same for my mum but she was really good with the HB and BF thing. Having said that, she wouldn't have had a leg to stand on with the HB thing, she went up to go to the loo and came downstairs 10 minutes later with my sister in her arms so she knows about HB!

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 12:35

Wow, that is a quick birth Nat. I somtimes think I'd like a very quick birth but they are meant to be a lot more painful.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 03/12/2008 12:40

About what you can and cant do with SPD, interesting to see what others have stopped doing.

I've worked out that hoovering, sweeping, pushing trolley in shop etc make it noticeably worse. As does walking down busy street in london (dodging others). Also sitting on arse for too long also is bad. Not sitting on soft sofa anymore either...

Think part of the answer is to not do much but not very practical for most of us, esp those with kids already...

Random thinking outloud then...

Cosmogirl · 03/12/2008 12:50

Hi ladies,

Sorry to hear of those suffering with aches and pains and SPD. I've had the odd stretchy pain here and there but nothing bad yet. Fingers crossed this blasted nausea is my only pregnancy complaint.

Congrats on a girl, Gruff! Bet you are so thrilled the wait is over. I still haven't been brave enough to buy anything pink yet - I want to, but still don't know if I trust the sonographer! I do feel it is a girl but would hate to go mad buying one gender colour and then get a surprise in the delivery room. So, I think I'll get a few bits and the rest white and yellow.

Thanks for responding to my pushchair/pram question GYo. It was great to get so many responses, really useful, but I am still really confused. I think we might do one of those John Lewis things where they give you the free demo like you mentioned.

Right, forgot everything else I was supposed to say.....Kayz/Nat - not long for you both now!! So jealous!

GruffaloSoldier · 03/12/2008 13:09

Hi, Ive been lurking but feeling so ill. Keep going really dizzy

Cosmo - re buying I already had one girl outfit that I got when first found out i was pregnant. Just bought one more of vertbaudet. I plan to get a couple more girly bits and thats it as I have five nieces (age 1-11) and my sisters have kept ALL clothes so will be getting alot of girls clothes coming my way anyway. I totally know what you mean though - I keep saying to people "it could still be a boy!"

Gyo - you will def be meeting my little Gruffette! we will have to meet up loads when we have popped and Im still awaiting the much talked about wagon meet up!

Kay - HB sounds like a great option for you.

That is one other thing that came out of the scan - the baby is BIG! Eek! I dont know if you all remember me saying about my sisters big baby and her terrible births but I can see that I am heading the same way!Fantastic

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 13:22

I have found a lovely fridge freezer on the Brighthouse website. But we don't want to get it from there and spend 3 years paying them £6 a week. It works out we'd payback a lot more than it is in the shops.

But we can't find it anywhere else!!! I am so annoyed now!!!

GruffaloSoldier · 03/12/2008 13:27

Kayz,

have you tried kelkoo.com? You can type in model number and it tells you where it is sold and prices. Good Luck! I certainly wouldnt do Brighthouse - I think its the biggest con ever!!

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 13:34

I haven't no. I will do that. I keep seeing the Brighthouse advert and thought I'd have a look. But its easier to just save up for a little while and just buy it outright.

Prolly just as well to eat virtual ones, I'll only feel guilty when my arse still looks pg but I'm holding the baby

Well having spent the morning doing nowt downstairs, we have all decamped to our bed for the afternoon.
So far my day has consisted of numerous phonecalls, post opening, breakfast and lunch making, "hunt-the-poo" TWICE!! and a bath.

Whoop-dee-doo! Can't move after all that excitement.

Have story reading planned, maybe a cuppa and a cadburys choc trifle later....be still my beating heart.

GruffaloSoldier · 03/12/2008 14:59

Being called Gruff would be funny! Although I tell the children I look after that I will turn into a Gruffalo if they dont do as they are told
