I have been advised against hb by mw and so dp has banned all talk of it... boo hiss...

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 10:02

I think if your waters do go they like you to go in to get that checked even if there aren't any contractions with it.
Then you generally have 24-48 hours to have the baby, or at least get labour under way, before they want you in to start you off.

If your waters go and you're contracting as well, I'd probably go straight in.

when you feel you can no longer cope at home..... thats what i was told with DS.... i wouldn't have a clue otherwise...

i dont plan any of that, i just plan to phone MW and tell her 'i'm in labour- get here now!!' with DD she came at about 9ish, 1.5hrs after my waters broke, said i was only 3-4cm, then at 12ish i knew i was getting closer, phoned again and when she arrived i was 8cm, and wanting to puch, within 15mins of her arriving DD was born... i'm hoping i'm as 'on-the-ball' this time!!

lardybump · 03/12/2008 10:06

I had such a nightmare last time it was just about as bad as it can get. We very nearly lost dd.... but I am so looking forward to doing it all again.... I can not believe how excited I am about going through labour again...... how weird is that....

MW thinks that dd was not ready to come but popped the waters with her finger toes..... ah bless her....

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 10:07

Thats what I thought Sorky. That you had 24 hours until they will induce you but my MW said you have an hour to get to hospital.

DH has come round to HB, I think the not having to go to hospital is swaying it. Also if something happens it is the same distance from the house to scarborough as it is from the MLU we were thinking of having him at.

lardybump · 03/12/2008 10:12

Right I must get on now. MIL is coming over soon so need to clean up a bit.... I will try and get back on this evening.... by for now.....

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 03/12/2008 10:16

i'm off now too- give my eyes a rest... gonna sit on the sofa and relax... listen to some music i think or i may get a headache if it carries on like this!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/12/2008 10:26

Mmmm that's better crumpets with melted real butter, and a huge choc cookie to follow, oh how healthy am I?!

Kay, ring your MW get the ball rolling on the HB now, before either you or DH back out of it again. Sooner you do it the better.

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 10:33

I can't ring MW, I have no number for her.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/12/2008 10:42

Did you say you have the number for the labour ward or something? Just ring that and ask to speak to a MW, or for the number of the CMW's, or even if they could get the CMW to ring you.

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 10:45

I'm seeing her in the morning so I'll tell her then.

I really want a pool but we can't afford one. We've just bought all the xmas pressies.

GruffaloSoldier · 03/12/2008 10:48

Hey all,

I have been sent home as I am feeling so rough to day

I have just added a pic of yesterdays scan to my profile though! Its just upper body as we didnt get full body one - oh well!

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 11:07

Gruff that's a beautiful picture

Morning all,

Congratulations on the girl Gruf!!!

Sorry so many are suffering with pelvic pain. Mine is mostly under control as long as I don't walk anywhere, climb any stairs or try to live any kind of normal life! On the plus side I do spend all my day sat down at a desk, have a 5 min drive to work in an auto car which is ok and spend all evening sat on the sofa with DH waiting on me . I actually think I am very lucky how little I can get away with moving, it does make a huge difference. I have completely given up doing anything adventurous like going to the supermarket or walking the few 100m to the pub, that causes far too much pain. Can see myself digging out my crutches at this rate, luckily they are only in the roof.

I also spoke to the other MW yesterday about things. Mine was completely useless, just told me to go to Boots and get a fembrace, which of course Boots did not even know what it was. Have been trying to get hold of her for a few days (apparently she is off sick) so spoke to the other MW who said "goodness me you don't want to just get a brace, get yourself to the gp and demand some physio", so I am off later this afternoon. We'll see if the gp takes it seriously.

Anyhow, that was very me me me. How is everyone else?

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 11:10

Hello Playing, I hope the GP is more amenable than the m/w.

I think fembraces are useless once you get to where we all are. Mine was okay in the early days but as you get bigger and heavier it seems more of a nuisance.

I've just had hot, buttered toast Nat mmm.

Playingthe9monthwait · 03/12/2008 11:16

Hi Sorky - had a feeling the brace was not going to be a magic cure. If I don't get anywhere with the gp I will go and see the osteopath, he's already said he thinks he can help. At £32 a session its not cheap but if it does help its gotta be worth it. I really don't know how you are coping, I only have myself to worry about, you have all of your family.

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 11:22

I'm fine, have lots of family and friends to call on if I need them. Wish the BH would go though, getting sick of them this morning.

Dh is a bit scared of how incapacitated I've become so quickly. He's worried it'll get worse so is trying to save his a/l for if he needs to be at home for me.

This baby had better stay put until at least 36 weeks.

It's a bit quiet on here today.

Lovely picture Gruff.

Sorry you are struggling Playing. When I saw the physio all she did was give me a brace, which is as helpful as a chocolate teapot. So I hope if you get one it helps you better than mine does.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 03/12/2008 11:30

Hello Gruff - lovely lovley picture. Very clear so exciting to see the little Gruffette (as someone said yest!) Hope I get to see in person one day!

Hope you are feeling better soon though. Faxing you some lemsip.

On the SPD front, I just had a thought (rare things at the moment! ) and wondered if my work private healthcare covers me for private treatment for SPD and it does! So thanks for Playing's suggestion of GP visit, I will go and get a referral. thanks for the idea

I actually have 2 parcetamol this morning and its made it slightly better, not gone but means I can walk down corridor without looking like Im giving birth early...

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 03/12/2008 11:31

BTW, is physio or osteo better for SPD?

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 11:36

My physio just showed me 1 stretch and showed me how to put the brace on. She said it was because I was so far gone(36 weeks) there was no point doing anything else.

So you might fare better because you aren't as far gone.

The little one has ants in his pants. I keep thinking he is doing the Night Fever dance and its so uncomfortable.

2beautifulgalsandasnowglobe · 03/12/2008 11:39

Morning everyone.

Gruff- congratulations on the girl Great name too, my DD1 is Lilly-mae after her great great nan.

Sorry for everyones pains and aches with SPD. Thought i had it starting but must of just been doing to much.

NJ- how is DS1? Did you get an appt?

Kayz- glad you have decided on the home birth, sounds like it will take a lot of worry about the birth away.

LB- i think once contactions start and are regular, ie every 5 mins or less give the labour ward a ring, they will usually advise over the phone whether to go in.
with DD1 i went quite early on, but with DD2 went in when i was 5cms, probably could of waited longer but 30min drive to hospital and had to take DD1 to friends aswell.

So had a very useless M/W appointment yesterday why when you have already had children do they not bother with you? I am in a totally different area to the last two and have no idea about procedures, i don't even know where the labour ward is? I have so many questions then everytime i go i totally forget think i need to write it all down. Don't go now for another 9 weeks.
Feeling sooooo Much better, haven't been sick for days and able to eat a lot more foods again. Craving coffee and coke though, can't be good.
DH has gone to town to get my xmas pressies, been gone 2.5 hours, probably getting frustrated with crowds and what to get.
I go to Disneyland in 3 weeks!!!!!!!

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 11:39

Kay you have no more than 19 days to go

I think that's so exciting. It's like a very special advent calendar.

OP posts:
Playingthe9monthwait · 03/12/2008 11:39

Kay God I want a bit more help than that, just assumed that a physio would you know actually do some physio!

GYo - No idea what is better, probably physio, which of course you can do privately as well. I just know our local osteopath, he treats both my parents for various issues and I had a few treatments with him when I was ill a few years ago. So I know he is a good man and really helped me before, so going on his track record, I would rather give it a go than do nothing.

sorkycake · 03/12/2008 11:43

Gyo I would favour a Chiropractor/Osteopath over a Physio.

Playing the Physio is unlikely to anything other than offer advice, contraindicative movements, suggest exercises etc and say to come back if it gets worse, where they'll give you crutches and other bits.
