MKG · 21/01/2009 19:12

I'm having a girl. I didn't want to find out, but dh made me. I'm glad I did though. I have two boys.

You think you've been pregnant forever. This baby will be my third in 3.5 years. So I've spent the last 4 years either pregnant, ttc, breastfeeding, or thinking about ttc.

pipsy76 · 21/01/2009 19:20

Hi ladies hope you are all well, I've only posted once before on this thread. DH took our laptop to sweden then lost part of it so I've been deprived of mumsnet for a week. Was a rather crap week not to have the internet as got diagnosed with GD and have been in tears for most the week. However now I've got over my sugar withdrawal and got to grips with blood testing and got mumsnet back things are looking a bit better!

MKG · 21/01/2009 19:26

Yes, after much debate we've decided to name her Alysia Shannon. to go with her brothers Mateo Robert, and Cruz Patrick (I'm American and knew/cared nothing about the Beckhams when we named him)

Pipsy--don't be upset there is absolutely nothing you could have done to prevent the GD. Have they told you whether or not you'll need insulin?

Hi Girls,

Hope your all well

Welcome mum2b09

Well i am still feeling like crap!..............i want my body back!! im not good at sharing .

Last night i had a few tightenings that were quite painfull (more so than my normal BHs) they were coming every 10mins or so for about an hour, but thankfully they stopped after a warm bath!! Thank god!!! .

Oh and i need all your help!!! this young fella still doesnt have a name we just cannot agree on anything!! i like traditional names (but not ones that are over used IYSWIM) family and friends are all coming up with name ideas, but i think they are getting fed up of me now - because the longer i think about this, the fussier i seem to be getting!!

laumiere hope everythings gone ok for you at the LW this evening im sure its just a tummy bug or something, but obviously it really good that your MW is being cautious .

MKG WOW!! how good are you gal!!! you must be so pleased , i keep meaning ask you what the weather will be like in your state when your DD is born?

MKG · 21/01/2009 20:13

twocute- My fav. boys names are Christopher or Patrick. Classic wonderful names

Oh and with the BH--try drinking more water. I was this way with ds2. Every night for two weeks I had the most painful, regular bh for an hour or two, and always thought I was in labor. My ob/gyn told me to get more fluids as I was probably dehydrated and they went away immediately.

Popping in to pass on a tip I was given today - post birth after a few days when your milk comes in and norks get really sore, apparently johnsons breast pads are the comfiest and most gentle to have! Bit more expensive, but reckoned to be worth it.

emma2617 · 21/01/2009 20:56

Evening ladies!
MKG I am always so impressed by your organisation, and the fact you already have a name is no exception!!

I have had a very bizarre day! Yesterday I had a pain in my belly then last night I realised I hadn't felt bambino move all afternoon. I spent all night with iced lemonade and iced water but still nothing so I went to midwife drop in clinic at lunchtime and she sent me to the hospital for monitoring! For some reason being told to go to the hospital, even though she said not to worry its just precautionary, really worried me and I rung DP in tears! We have spent 3 hours at the hospital, but as soon as the monitor went on he started moving around like a mentalist! Needless to say I then felt a little stupid, but the mifwife was lovely and gave me a kickchart and said not to feel silly if I feel the need to call them again! So all is good!

Hope everyone is well today, I'm going to try get an early night as I really didn't sleep too much last night!

MKG · 21/01/2009 21:10

Emma- Please I'm not that organized. It's either plan for this baby or do the dishes, and right now I'd rather put a cradle together than do the dishes.

Glad to hear everything went well today. It's frustrating at this stage when you don't feel movements. Two weeks ago I was at the midwife and she had trouble finding the heartbeat as the baby was moving, I was like "really, I don't feel it". Now my belly looks like a scene out of alien.

twocutedarlings · 21/01/2009 21:13

MKG I think that it! the last few days i have restricted what ive been drinking, but only slightly tbh i got fed up of the constant need to pee!!

On the names front i really like patrick...............but AGAIN DH doesnt!! arrrgghh blooming MEN .

emma dont feel stupid!! if you dont feel you LO is moving as normal, then it has to be checked out. I had to be monitored a couple of times with DD1 i also got really upset the first time the MW sent me off to be assessed, so i guess what i am saying is all these worries and upset are all part of motherhood .

laumiere · 21/01/2009 23:18

Thanks everyone! I'm back now, took 4 hours to finally establish that I'm fine :-)

babyinbelly · 22/01/2009 09:37

morning all. have my 34week check today so thats another milestone down! was looking forward to getting lots of stuff done round the house today but by 9am i am finished!!! no washing, dishes done and hoovering done so just have to wait for appt now!

twocutedarlings · 22/01/2009 09:48

Great news laumiere

babyinbelly dont suppose your any where near me? ive got so much to do!! .

Well it aint going to get done the AM anyhow LOL!! i am off with DD2 to playgroup now.

lollipopz · 22/01/2009 11:13

Hi all, good to see we are all hanging on in there! Wonder who will be first! not me I feel so far behind you lot, only 31 weeks, hopefully only 7 or 8 to go though as have been measuring a week ahead all the way through and my original date before my scan was a week earlier! Maybe just wishful thinking I will prob still be pregnant come April!
Wee question for all you much more organised ladies! Has any one bought from Kiddicare website? If so how quick is the delivery? Only asking because we have decided we need a twin buggy as ds only just turned 2 in dec so still needs restrained in shops mainly for the sake of my own sanity! Any way we have decided on the cosatto you 2 as have heard good things about it, only thing is it comes in blue and pink or just blue and as this wee bubba is a surprise we will need to wait till it is born to order iyswim so if dh was to order it while I was still in hosp how quickly would it arrive or is there a next day option to be so unorganised but this is no 4 so hope you can excuse me on the grounds that I live in a mad house and any oganisation gets destroyed the minute the school bell rings and all 3 dcs get together!
Finish work on the 20th feb but mat leave doesn't start till 13 th march as I get to take my hols for next year cos I am being made redundant in August. Thinking I may get a bit teary on my last day, have been there nearly 5 years and will be shut down by the time I can go back to work. Only upside is everyone is having a joint leaving do in July when I will officially be back on the vino!
Went to a concert (pussycat dolls) on Monday with a friend my feet were killing me and babe was up all night still jigging in response to the loud music!
Looking forward to the next one in June (boyzone )Where I will be able to bounce about and scream till my heart is content!
Hope you are all ok and I will try to keep more up to dare with the thread or the next time I post I will be congratulating all the new mums! L xx xx

auntyspan · 22/01/2009 12:07

Hi ladies - had my mw appt yesterday and apparently my sickness is due to the fact I have another big baby who isn't engaging, and therefore taking up loads of room in my belly hence me feeling sick all the time.
Have been advised to eat little and often and not have any liquid with meals.

Have orderd stuff from Kiddicare and pretty sure there's an express option or something - never had any problems with them, in fact iirc they sent me a text message telling me my order was on it's way!

Having my c-section (fingers crossed) 4 weeks tomorrow.... bring it on!!

laweaselmys · 22/01/2009 13:17

Just back from 32wk appointment, baby has definitely dropped and is 3/5 engaged (head down though! Looks like I will have to start thinking about a birth plan after thinking she would be breech and csec all this time.)

However, I'm also anaemic and have to take Iron tablets. Not very pleased as I hear tales of constipation vs diarrhoea and black poo. Doesn't sound pleasant I have to say. Oh well, better that than staying anaemic.

meep · 22/01/2009 13:24

Hi everyone!

DH and I have just made the decision that I will take 9months mat leave this time instead of just 6months - woo hoo! We can just about afford it and it had made me feel so much less stressed as I won't have to go back to work until January 2010!

My bump is just a constant wriggler - so I would be straight to the MW if I thought it wasn't moving - must have been a bit of a scare laumiere - glad all is well though.

Feeling very much like a waddling hippo at the moment - and that my pelvis is going to drop out! I remeber last time at this stage wondering how on earth I could get any bigger - but I know I will and it will and it seems just as unreal this time too!

corgikelly · 22/01/2009 13:56

Hi all - just back from my 31 week appt (the doctor had to dash off just as she finished the scan, leaving me with that lovely goop on my belly, as one of her other patients was just about to deliver...shades of things to come?).

Everything looks good - Cletus is measuring right where he should for 31 weeks, and graced us with a couple of somersaults. She's predicting a 3.5-3.6kg (about 8lbs) delivery weight. The issues they'd flagged up on his brain (cysts) and kidneys (dilated valves) look as if they have resolved on their own - phew! Of course, he's shifted back to a transverse lie from being head down - but there's time to change back again, right? And it's certainly a relief not having him use his body in a game of caber tossing against my cervix...

Lovely surprise was a 3D glimpse - didn't even know their scan had that capacity! It was very odd to have someone on screen looking like a real person instead of a chalk drawing.

lollipopz, I'm trailing along in the rear with you. They do say first ones go late, so I'm banking on an April Fool's baby.

twocute, Patrick is one of our two name choices -- the other is Rhys. Figure we'll just wait and see what suits him best.

meep, bravo for thw 9 months mat leave! It seems as if leaves in the UK are much, much longer than they are here in Belgium (though countries like Luxembourg and Sweden put us both in the shade).

emma2617 · 22/01/2009 14:11

meep congrats on the 9 months! I decided to take 9 months, plus a month of holidays!! So I get 8 months after baby has arrived, can't imagine only having 6 months!!

corgi how long will you be taking? How long is normal over there?

After my little scare the other day with no movements baby has been ridiculously wriggly the last 12 hours! I think he's making up for being quiet...although I'm not particularly impressed that he kept me up til 3 am as the wriggling meant I had to wee every half hour!

meep · 22/01/2009 14:12

corgi - I only took 6 months with dd but the law here changed in Oct 08 - so you are entitled toreturn within to the same job/contractual terms (unless there is a redundancy situation) if you take up to 9months off - though you can take up to a year. Will only get stat maternity pay - but we are going to use savings to cover the loss of my salary - it will be a bit of a squeeze but I think it is best for my mental health !

How long do you get in Belgium?

And yes, plenty of time for cletus to turn himself the right way round!

As for boys names, ours is Alexander - a good traditional Scottish name and a family name on my side.

I'm struggling for a girls name if this one is dd2 - DH hasn't come up with anything but has shot all my suggestions down in flames!) - again I like quite girls tradtitional names so any suggestions would be most welcome!

corgikelly · 22/01/2009 14:24

In Belgium, you get 5 months total at full pay (if you're breastfeeding - otherwise, you get 4 months). You only have to leave 1 week before your due date, though I'll probably take 2 weeks.

After maternity leave, you can also decide to go onto part time - 4 days a week for 3 years, 2.5 days a week for 1.5 years, or no days a week for 1 year. Your pay is then adjusted according to actual hours worked, so if you do opt for no days a week, you don't get anything.

Right now, I'm opting to head back to work after the 5 months' leave, but who knows how I'll feel at that point? So that may change...
