Slickbird, no idea! Until the baby is born, of course, when it gets pretty obvious what weight isn't shifting, and what went in the first flush (as it were) of birth, weeing and night-sweats.

Last time I gained 3 stone in 41 weeks - 2 stone turned out to be baby and fluid and the other 14lbs was pure excess!

Wheelybug · 17/12/2008 17:37

Slickbird - don't worry - the aspirin is doctors orders ! DD was growth restricted due to pre-eclampsia and there is research to suggest taking low dose (half the amount of one normal tablet) aspirin daily might prevent it again. It is advised in a number of pregnancy situations - often prescribed for recurrent m/c too (but low dose again).

Lolli - glad I wasn't the only one bawling at dd's nativity. Pregnancy has a lot to answer for !

corgikelly · 17/12/2008 18:27

Will someone remind me NEVER to say anything ever again? I am going to join a convent and take a vow of silence.

Last night, I was talking to a friend and marvelling at the fact that pregnancy seems to have had an amazing effect on my immune system - usually I come down with some sort of coldy thing on a monthly basis. Since conceiving, I've had nothing of the sort.

This morning I woke up with a scratchy throat, a band around my head and a nose that feels like it's beens stuffed with 12 kilos of sausage meat.

Merry Christmas, one and all.

Boobz · 17/12/2008 18:31

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly Corgi. I'm just feeling very hormonal.

Have uploaded latest bump picture to my profile. 26 weeks +1. Don't think I have got much bigger since my 23 week picture - hmm.

Looking forward to Friday and 2 weeks off - wooo!

laweaselmys · 17/12/2008 20:12

Hey all - work is also crazy at the moment. Really looking forward to Friday and the Christmas holidays! [frgin]

Had a bit of a scare today reading the pregnancy threads on MN about baby girl being much more active and moving around quite frantically over the last few days. Spoke to midwife though, and she thinks the baby is just stuck in breech and trying to turn around... since every baby in my family has been breech I'm quite interested to see if she'll actually manage it!! If not, am wondering if she'll give up trying given that it is rather disturbing having her scrambling around in there quite this much...

titmouse · 17/12/2008 20:21

Hi Ladies,

what is the Anti-D shot tht some of you are having? I haven't heard of that.

MKG · 17/12/2008 21:31

anti-D (or the Brand name Rhogam here in the US). Is what you get if you are Rh negative.

Evening ladies!! I have been a little quiet recently, been reading but not had time to post! I usually post while I'm at work and procrastinating but I have been training up someone to take over when I leave and handing over my accounts to him...I never realised I was so attached to some of my customers until I had to hand them over to some one else!!

I nearly caused myself some serious damage on Monday night, woke up for a midnight toilet trip but was so half asleep that I forgot I was pregnant and leapt out of bed! I twisted my ankle, put my back out and then fell over as I became very light headed due to the speed with which I got up!! I felt a little silly!!

I have a midwife appt on Friday morning for anti-d and general check up....I can't wait it feels like ages since I last saw a medical professional, it has been 5 weeks! Then I will be driving down to croydon on Sunday, funeral on Monday and then drive home again! Really can't wait to leave work now life is suddenly getting very busy!

The tiredness is back with avengence now, I fell asleep in the bath last night and have slept in every morning this week so far and then proceeded to yawn my way through the day!

Anyway ladies I'm going to bed...I just typed all this on my phone and now have VERY achey thumbs! Hope you are all doing well!

Slickbird · 17/12/2008 22:46

Wheely Good! I am glad! - Not that you have to take it, but that it's ok to take!

Emma Watch yourself love! I know what you mean, I do that too during the night and then wobble all over the place and trip over things, I always lie on my side so I wonder if I'm heavier on one side when I get until the baby has time to adjust!

Am off to bed. My DD1 is singing an upbeat carol song with her friend in front of the whole school and parents tomorrow morning at the school Christmas Church service. She's not phased one bit. Honest to God, she's so confident and such a performer it's like living with bloody Liza Minelli half the time. (DD is actually a good singer, but I think her dancing and co-ordination lacks somewhat - gets that from her father...).

meep · 18/12/2008 10:38

Morning everyone. Have been working late all week so haven't been able to post. Only one day left at work until I'm off till January - whoo hoo!! But only one day left to clearmy desk - ugh!

Anyone else suffereing from insomnia? I am waking up at around 4am and just can't get back to sleep. I drop off again at about 6.30am just in time to get up or be woken by dd. I was like this when I was pregnant with dd too - and I think work stress is also a bigcontributing factor.

People at work are even commenting on how knackered I look - that combined with my duck waddle and huge bump/norks is making me feel sooooooo attractive ! Boobz very jealous of your neat bump!

I am now suffering from the dreaded hip/pelvic pain - it's bearable at the moment because dh has been taking dd to and from nursery so I'm not having to lift her as much. But all I can think of is that the bump will be getting heavier - ouch!

MKG · 18/12/2008 14:46

Good morning everyone.

Well I had my first BH last night. I felt a tightening and I was like "Oh, I remember you" Then I freaked out because I realized that at some point this baby will be coming out, and I still have so much to do.

OP posts:
lizziemun · 18/12/2008 16:04

Meep

Yes i have had insomnia for weeks. Some nights a worse then others. I went to bed monday at 9.30 because i was falling a sleep on the sofa. Then proceeded to clock move round i think i got about 3hrs sleep . I don't know how you manage to work. At least when dd2 (15mth) has her afternoon sleep i can have a nap before we dd1 (4.10) from school.

goldmother2b · 18/12/2008 17:33

Hello all

corgi and emma hope you are both feeling a bit better today!

meep I'm not suffering with insomnia, just from waking and needing a wee / to change position to something less painful about once every 2 hours - so am completely knackered all the time!

Got some bad news today - in addition to the PSD I now have gestational diabetes - what fun. I have to take and test blood samples 4 times per day and record the readings in a little book they have given me. Will go back to the hospital next tues and they will look at my little book to decide whether i am able to manage my glucose levels by diet alone, or whether I need to start injecting myself with insulin
And I usually can't even look when I am given an injection.........

Anyway, they have told me that baba will most likely need to be induced at 38 weeks so that she isn't overcooked and the size of a baby hippo...all I wanted was a pretty natural birthing pool type birth....oh well....at least she will be an aquarian like her mum...

Have any of you been diagnosed with GD? If so how are you coping?

xx

EllieorOllie · 18/12/2008 17:58

Hi everyone

Feels like ages since I last posted on here, have been caught up in all the chaos and excitement of christmas at school.

Had a random 26 week midwife check today, and everything was fine with the little one, although she didn't mention size, so now for some reason i'm freaking out that he's small/big etc for dates.

Actually I seriously doubt he's small. I can't believe that some people have only put on a few pounds. I have put on almost a stone and a half in the last 10 weeks. Admittedly I was rather underweight, but still!!!!!!!!

Have been diagnosed with SPD and PGP, which is a bummer. Some days i can barely walk, and end up weeping at my poor DH, who has no idea what to do about it. Have physio on monday and then more after christmas, and have been put back under consultant care. They're already talking about induction after 37 weeks, which is a shame cos i too would have loved a nice natural pool birth. Suspect they think I will be entirely immobile by then...

Is anyone else in the same boat? I know care for ladies with SPD and PGP varies wildly in different areas. Generally speaking my antenatal care has been almost unnervingly good!

TwoCuteFestiveFairys · 19/12/2008 10:34

good afternoon ladies! I had my 28 week appointment this morning (im actually 28+6 but whos counting!) They took my blood and then gave me my anti-d....it bloody stings doesnt it!!! And i now have an attractive scab and a blood stain on my underwear!!

She had a listen to baby and i heard him for about 2 seconds then he kicked the midwife and turned over so she couldnt find him again...doesnt bode well for when he's out!

I've only got 2 days left in work...woohoo!!

Baby got yet MORE presents today!! I think everyone at work is more excited than me! My old manager gave me 2 little outfits on Monday as it was her last day before I finished for maternity and my new managerhas givem me 3 long sleeved babygrows and a little outift which is some "wadded trousers" and a matching hoody...all extremely adorable! My new manage rgot the stuff from mothercare though...its probably the best quality clothes this baby will have!!

goldmother sorry to hear about the GD, I would hate to have to prick myself, but I am a big wuss!! Hope you can keep it under control by diet alone!!

ellieorollie I didnt get measured and no comment was made about size at me appointment todday either. If nothing was said then I really wouldnt worry yourself, if baby was too small or too big they would be ding further investigation to find out why so they would have pointed it out!

I better get back to work, so far have done about a hours worth today what with appointment, lack of attaention span and serious procrastinating!!

Wheelybug · 19/12/2008 16:25

Hi All

I had my 28 week growth scan this morning and consultant appointment. Everything was fine. The baby is still hovering around average sized (dd 3rd centile from 22 weeks), blood pressure, urine all fine. Had the big discussion on delivery and the registrar I saw and I seemed to be more or less singing from the same hymn sheet. He was very supportive of VBAC and when I questioned about whether there was a hard and fast rule about continuous monitoring he was relatively relaxed and said if all seemed ok there wouldn't be a need for continuous monitoring but intermitent. However, he did say it would depend very much on who was on shift at the time which I remember from last time ! Better get booked into the active birth class !!

Hope everyone is ok - sorry to hear about the GD Goldmother.

Slickbird · 20/12/2008 00:38

Evening al,

Just back from a friend's along the road -haven't been out in the evening for bloody ages so I feel like a grown up again, although I could have done with the wine too. Still, I'm not sure how good an idea some of the conversation was as she went into great detail of her three horrendous eclamptic labours/prem births/organ failure stories. Maybe I shouldn't be hearing that with 10 weeks to go! Oh well, I'm hoping for third time lucky as the last two were bad enough. My MIL said, 'Ooooh, should be like shelling peas by now...' Easy for her to say, she had the longest labour she had with her three was two hours!!

Slickbird · 20/12/2008 00:41

Er..that should say "Evening All" - I don't know anyone on here called Al.

And also "The longest labour she had..." etc.

I swear, I haven't been drinking!

goldmother2b · 20/12/2008 12:13

Hello all

twocute thanks for the link to the GD thread - there's loads to read and take in but great to have some real life examples of what food works for others who have it.
I have now been finger pricking for 2 1/2 days and have completely lost my squeamishness in that area, am finding the blood glucose monitoring quite interesting in a nerdy kind of way

Am thinking it is quite likely based on the other thread, that I will end up having to inject insulin - a bit worrying but will obviously have to grin and bear whatever is best for baby.

Will be having extra scans to make sure baby isn't getting too big too quick - the first is next tues - so an added bonus that I get to see her again
On a positive note my fundal height has been bang on for my last 2 MW visits, so it doesn't seem that I am housing a giant just yet!

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend x

MKG · 22/12/2008 13:40

Hello all. I hope everyone had a good weekend and is gearing up for a fun week. I know I'm happy for Christmas to be here.

laweaselmys · 22/12/2008 14:08

Well, I for one have just tactically made DP dp the washing up by doing the first load and then asking him to finish the much bigger pile while I nipped off to check our NY arrangements!

I'm a genius really.

Haven't got anything to report really! Baby still seems to be in breech, but I won't be totally sure about that until midwife has a poke around my belly in January. Have been pondering what to do if she stays like that though (am considering it as a serious possibility, since everybody in family was breech!) I did say I'd rather just have a CSec, and I definitely don't want a trial of labour. But now I'm not sure. Maybe a trial of labour in a very intensely scientific setting with lots of staff and consultants hovering would be okay - realistically though, I don't think this will be an option!

MKG · 22/12/2008 14:47

Law-- there is plenty of time for this baby to turn, and turn, and turn. Don't worry too much.

MKG · 22/12/2008 14:55

We finally decided on a name for this baby too.
