Hello kiltycoldbum! Nice to see you here. Add your name to the list on the first post and copy and paste it.

We're near the end of the thread again. Any ideas for a new title? 'Fattening up for Christmas' was genius.....

Over the moon... to be due in JUNE! [snigger]

Got some great maternity jeans in the Gap sale today, I doubt I'll be out of them except when I'm at work!

Tee2072 · 04/01/2009 19:24

Getting big as the moon...due in June!

flynn1984 · 04/01/2009 19:43

evening all hope everyone is well!

well thats me def in maternity stuff now went for a meal last night and was fit to burst, I'm with everyone else on the bump thing, quite small during the day then at night time it baloons, tonight for example at my MIL's I couldn't even sit down as I was so uncomfortable
Now after nearly 2 weeks off I'm back at work tomorrow why can't maternity leave start now

Tee Littlesarah I like those suggestions, can't believe we're going onto our 3rd thread already!

kiltycoldbum welcome and love the name

Tee good luck with your test tomorrow, I'm sure the results will be fine...also I didn't realise how many clothes I had until I started replacing them with maternity ones!

Louise glad the babyfather is more on board and glad his mum is thrilled looks like things are getting better for you support wise

Kitteh DH and I are considering getting a doppler but unsure as I am a person who worries too much and I'd panic if I couldn't find the heartbeat even tho deep down I know everything is fine. Where did you get yours? Been looking on ebay and not sure whether to buy from mothercare or ebay.

insywinsyspider good luck with your triple test too i'm sure everything will come back fine

mica23 · 04/01/2009 21:40

Hi everyone!
Tee-try not to wory about tests.I know its easier said then done.We got our results the other day and its really low risk even thou I was convinced that its going to be high!!Best of luck!!o

I call this baby "baby nobody is looking forward to" as relatives reactions were not what you wish for..But on Christmas day DD(15 months) who never before gave kiss to anyone started kissing the bump and I thought; who cares what anyone else thinks!!Love that child! She is going to be the best sister!
Love to all..

Stiefyloo · 04/01/2009 22:14

Is this still an active thread? If so, me too - yay! DD 20/6. Think that June will be the very lovliest time to have a bab. Congratulations to us all

Stiefyloo · 04/01/2009 22:16

Sorry - just flipped thread and realised still active. Will blame it on my baby brain.

chocciedooby · 04/01/2009 22:16

HI everyone. Just popping on to see how everyone is getting on.
Tee - Good Luck with your results.
Louise so pleased that babyfather is on your side.
Welcome kiltycoldbum - love the name.
Hi to everyone else. Been a very busy Christmas here so trying to catch up wioth all the posts.
My nausea has returned . Had it all day today and have been getting it for last 2 weeks. I think its down to tiredness.
DS1 is not sleeping at night until 11pm (earliest) since we rid of his soother and its hard work.He just cannot get to sleep and then doesn't wake til 10am so a vicious cycle.DH back to work tomorrow so going to wake us all up at 7.30am and that should get things back on track!
Tummy is blooming since Christmas.
Has anyone else been getting small pinching pains in their stomach?

helpivegottogivebirth · 05/01/2009 06:36

Good luck everyone with tests today. and good luck to everyone going back to work.... doom and gloom in this household.

i too have pinching feelings in my tummy - behind my belly button, and everytime i go for a wee it feels like my bladder has imploded. what are the symptoms for a bladder infection? Though i dont have a temperature, but it's bloming painful.

oh and piece of advice if you have H&M maternity jeans - the stitching comes undone around the big belly band ... i checked out three pairs yesterday, all had holes. i was offered 10% discount! not worth it to have to sew your trousers together before you can wear them - it's like the Ikea of maternity wear!

sorry rant over!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 05/01/2009 07:31

Morning all! Hi Stiefyloo. Nice to see you on here. I've just had a sneaky peak at your profile and seen that you're expecting your 4th! How exciting!

I'm also getting all sorts of strange, niggly pains in my tummy, but put it all down to uterus/ligaments stretching. I suffer quite a lot with UTIs, and it's worth checking out if you can get down the docs and you think you've got one. Tho I've always found them pretty painful I know that some people don't find them as painful.

Was going to pop into town today but there is snow everywhere! I'm not sure I want to navigate the buggy in the snow with SPD. Mmmmm. Might wait and see if it thaws. DH went back to work today so it's back to reality.... Boo hoo...

Happy Monday to all xx

Tee2072 · 05/01/2009 07:42

Good morning all and welcome to all the new people!

Back to work for me today. But at least I get to leave early to go get my test done. I am trying not to dwell on it!

Totally having pinching feelings. And butterfly feelings, which I am sure is the baby dancing in there! So exciting!

chocciedooby · 05/01/2009 10:16

Good Monday Morning everyone. Sad to see DH go back to work today. He has been great company and the kids have been loving having him around during the day.
Good to know more of you are having the pinching feelings. I can't remember having them before but they don't happen very often and must be ligaments and muscles etc. There is till so much going on in there!
I have also been feeling strange "movements" in my stomach. Not what I would describe as flutters though, more like very slight waves of movement.Looking forward to feeling the baby properly moving as still unsure if its baby.

bigcar · 05/01/2009 11:47

Morning all

At last a little peace has returned to the house, all but dd3 are now back at school! I have spent most of the morning trying to clean up some of the destruction they have left in their wake, but i've given up now, the house lookes half way reasonable Dh was kind enough to wake me up at 5.30 this morning on his way out to work to tell me it was snowing, just what we needed on the first day back at school, the roads were awful.

Hope everyone is well and that all the tests go ok for those having them.

June2009 · 05/01/2009 13:12

Hiya!

Hope everyone is coping ok being back to work and all that, I'm finding it hard, probably because of the lack of sleep and a sore throat coming on.

How many times have you guys seen your midwife? I'm 18w now and I've only seen one once at the booking appointment at around week 8, is that normal? I read somewhere on the net there is usually a meeting at 16w.

I tried to contact the mw before xmas but she was busy and said she would call me back, which she hasn't done.
Now her phone is switched off and the midwife centre isn't picking up their phone either.

I will try again later as I am guessing they are all at lunch now...

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 05/01/2009 13:43

Hiya June2009. I think it's different if it's your first as I think you are seen more frequently (I'm on my 2nd). I saw her once at 10w and again at 16w. I now don't see her until 28w but I do have the scan in the meantime. I certainly think you should be having an appointment at around 16 weeks. It's worth trying her phone again to see. If not, can you book it through your GPs surgery?

OP posts:
chocciedooby · 05/01/2009 13:48

Interesting as here in Ireland you get seen at 12 weeks and then not again until 20weeks.Then its one visit per month until the last month which is a weekly visit.
I am feeling so sick today. Why has this nausea returned???My hormones must be playing havoc or something.

flynn1984 · 05/01/2009 13:52

June I've seen my midwife twice, once just after pregnancy was confirmed to set up my notes then when i was around 11 weeks for booking appointment. I am seeing her this friday when I will be 17 weeks. If I was you I would try and get an appointment.

Wee question anyone use a doppler and if so which brand is best to get?

ermintrude13 · 05/01/2009 14:02

Hello All

June, a 16-wk appointment is standard for all pg women, first-timers or not. It's the only appt usually between the 12 and 20-wk scans, and is just a routine check of urine, blood pressure, and possibly a chance to hear the babe's heartbeat, as well as bloods for Downs and Spina Bifida if you want them/if your 12 wk scan findings suggested they'd be a good idea. Your m/w sounds a bit chaotic, maybe call her and ask for an appt?

Thereafter I think first-timers see m/w at 24 wks but old-timers like me not until 28 - unless something crops up.

leaky · 05/01/2009 14:05

Hello to everyone & happy new year.I haven't been on here for weeks but have been enjoying time with my 2DS's & DH.
Feeling very pleased that I've managed to potty train my youngest DS.Started on Boxing Day & he had his 1st dry night last night too so very proud of him.

Has anyone else started getting backache yet? I woke up in the night with it & it's continued all day so far.I can see my having a hot bath tonight then sleeping with a pillow under my bump. The joys!

SweetBROODY · 05/01/2009 14:31

Leaky I keep feeling shivers in my back and down there if that makes sense...

I think because baby is facing inwards and is breech as well...

Is anyone else feeling this? Its really odd... I hope it moves and doesnt stay there long because it could become worse back pain.

Nice to hear from you ladies...

June2009 · 05/01/2009 15:20

Oh well I can't get through to the mw because she doesn't work anymore. I have to call the mw centre tomorrow to see if they can make other arrangments for me (well hopefully they can?!).

SweetBROODY did you see that your baby is breech on your 20w scan? Can't wait for mine...

flynn1984 · 05/01/2009 15:32

June here's hoping they can make arrangements for you...shame they couldn't have told you sooner that MW does not work anymore.

yet again just another wee question looking for advice
Do you think a nursing chair is a good idea? when i asked DH he was for it, but my mum and other relatives think its a waste of money just looking for some mumsnetters opinions. I have £100 in my savings just now so I could afford it...

The one I've been looking at is this chair

Tee2072 · 05/01/2009 15:56

Flynn I feel that a rocker of some sort is essential, not just for nursing, but for bedtime stories and quite rocking and general snuggles. I am inheriting a rocking chair from my in-laws.

OMG YES leaky my back aches a lot. Not a pleasant side effect, I must say!

So had the triple test today. Now have to wait 10 days to 2 weeks for result, because they send it off to Birmingham! The good part was quite a long scan, just to check dates. Saw a lovely straight spine, hiccups, and little hands and feet waving. U/S tech tried to get a face shot, but baby wouldn't cooperate! Stubborn like mama!

So now we wait...

flynn1984 · 05/01/2009 16:00

Tee hopefully wait for results wont drag in for you...lovely about your scan tho must have been good to see the baby again, did they give you any idea of the sex or that something your not wanting to know? Think I will be investing in the chair would be ideal for night feeds and as you said bedtime stories and the likes when baby is older.

ermintrude13 · 05/01/2009 16:14

Tee, that scan sounds lovely.

Re feeding chairs - I've never used one and have no plans to, but lots of people swear by one. At night I always fed in bed with a triangular cushion and otherwise I'd do it wherever I happened to be. If you do buy, be careful of where the arms are, esp if you're breastfeeding, cos some of them end up constricting you and make feeding position impossible/uncomfortable.
