aaw.. what buggy did you get sarah? also where do you put the doppler to find the heart beat? i ordered one cos was having a panic day (im paranoid.. lol).. but it hasnt come yet..

dreamydowler · 02/01/2009 19:39

Hi Tee Happy New year to everyone Hope you all had a good xmas and new year. Ive been quite ill with really bad chest infection hence Ive not been on in a few days Still coughing for england Will be glad to get back to a relatively quiet house again next week when kids go back to school

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 02/01/2009 19:49

Hi all

Had Yet more vomiting think it was made worse by the hyper emersis but hopefully eased last couple of days ( still have the nausea if I dont eat, but I am interseted in chocolate again Yeahhhhh!) Have my 20 week scan in 6 days although I think I'll be 19+2 am getting a little excited now.

I've ordered a phil and teds and will trying to damage it as little as possible so I can ebay when I've done with it ( ha knowning my little angels)

Kitteh- re the doppler there is no exact spotit's more of a trial and error thing depending on which way the baby is lying oh and beware you can also pick up your own hb (much much slower) don't panic if you can't find it at first the mw sometimes take 2 or 3 goes and they're the professionals.

And just a remninder for those going for their 16/ 17 weeks appts you can apply for your NHS exemption certs (from your mw) now which entitles you to free dental care and free prescriptions useful to get it done now if you need stuff later iyswim and it lasts for a year after the birth.

jellysmum · 02/01/2009 20:44

Happy New Year, hope veryone had a good one! Got my scan on 26th I will be 21 weeks around then. I have eaten my body weight in mince pies, have have a huge thing for them at the moment I am going to be the size of a house! Can anyone recomend a double buggey my DD will be 1.8 months old when this little person arrives so will def need one, just not sure of what to go for so if you have any experience....

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 02/01/2009 21:08

Jellysmum i would def recommend getting to a shop to "get the feel" borrow a friend baby or take a heavy bag of shopping with your dd and give it a try, I've been through several so don't be surprised if it's not right. watch out for extra long or extra wide as they are a nightmare to steer. and make sure it'll fit in your car (even more important as more difficult than with the singles). Oh and make sure that it's suitable from birth.

(FWIW mothercare have £70 off phil and ted and a online voucher for another 10% off spends over £120- code AF8) Can not guarentee it'll be fab tho' as have onlyjust ordered one!!!)

jellysmum · 02/01/2009 21:26

My sister has one and seems to like it if you get a chance, let me know what you think of it!

flynn1984 · 02/01/2009 23:15

evening all

Hope all is well...just thought I'd do a quick post before going to sleep!

silkcushion your date seems right, I'm 16 weeks exactly tomorrow and I'm due 20th June...wish I was further along tho eagerly waiting to find out what I'm having!

Kitteh and Doris shame ou guys are still feeling/being sick luckily mine left around 13 weeks after 7 weeks of constant sickness.

Will try and catch up tomorrow, hopefully wont need to leave the house much!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 03/01/2009 08:09

Morning all! Hope everyone is feeling well and the bumps are coming on well! I seem to look a tiny bit pregnant in the morning, but 8 months pregnant by evening. It's so uncomfortable! Preparation for when you actually get that size, I suppose! I was HUGE last time and remember really struggling to get my knickers and socks on.... oh the joys of pregnancy!

Anyway, happy Saturday to you all x

I'm afraid I join Kitteh and Doris in the continued M/S parade. Still throwing up most days and feeling nauseous all the time. I mean really, all the bloomin' time. Am now over 16wks but this went on for ages with my last pregnancy so I'm not banking on it disappearing overnight. Funny how I completely blocked out any memory of feeling so rotten when considering conceiving this one .

My bump is unimpressive in the lower abdomen, where the actual baby is, but I have a big solid belly starting under my bust. I'm only 5ft 4in and v short-waisted so asked the M/W if this might be because the uterus is displacing my other organs upwards. "Yep," she replied cheerily, "that's probably your guts up there." If I didn't feel queasy before...

helpivegottogivebirth · 03/01/2009 10:27

I'm with you on that one INEED - almost forget i'm preggers in the morning, but by the eveningtime i look so much bigger. thought it would be more consistent and alsjo thought i would be bigger by now seeing as i'm 18 weeks today.

Still struggling to feel any flutterings - think i'm too insensitive! ither that or it's a lazy little blighter and doesn't want to move anyway!

Tee2072 · 03/01/2009 10:30

I have the same problem, ermintrude!! Some days I look nearly 5 months, as opposed to 15 weeks!

June2009 · 03/01/2009 12:20

I hope everybody is recovering well from new year's eve antics, good thing it's the weekend now really isn't it!

ermintrude13 oooh, is that's what it is? Organs pushed up huh... I was wondering why the upper part is also getting bigger when the baby was clearly lower at the last scan.

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and I too fit in my jeans in the morning but not in the evening. Same goes for my wedding ring, I have to take it off in the evenings

Our guests said they can see a bump now but I still don't see a proper bump myself, I just look bigger. I have been that big before just because I was fat and looked pregnant then...I was actually asked once if I was expecting

Symptoms wise I really have trouble sleeping, I keep turning in bed and getting up to go to the loo. I have nausea pretty much every morning when I'm still in bed but haven't actually been sick. Still really tired everyday but luckily haven't caught any bugs (yet?) I'm taking vitamins everyday which I think helps.
Oh and I have disgusting acne on my chin.
I keep being told it's "all worth it" ;)

ermintrude13 · 03/01/2009 13:14

Yeah, I'm hoping that having such a limited space in the abdomen will keep the baby a nice easy size to push out, but my DS was 9.5lb! His older sister was 7.5lb, so I keep hoping he was so heavy just because he was 10 days late and a bit overcooked...

loooouise · 03/01/2009 17:03

Helloooo everybody and Happy New (Baby) Year!
Is anybody else feeling MORE EXCITED THAN THEY HAVE EVER FELT IN THEIR LIVES???
I am feeling so happy about having my baby this year, loving my bump and choosing names (sorry Ermitude, Doris and Kitteh and anybody else with MS - hope that doesn't sound too gloating!)
I agree with all those who are bump-lite in the morning and huge in the evening btw, I seem to gain weeks in just a few hours!

What kind of buggy did you get LittleSarah? Is it rear or front facing?
Also, have any of you experienced mums got an Amby nest? I've heard wonderful things about them and am thinking of ordering one.

Quick personal update: I hung out with my Babyfather who was in the UK over Xmas. He stroked my bump and wouldn't even let me fold up my ironing board myself! We also talked Shakespearean heroines' names for a girl. (Helena current favourite). I think he's going to be on-side. He also told his mum, who is thrilled. I have agreed to meet her, so let's hope I have an ally there, girls!

I had great fun telling all my relatives - nobody was horrid, except one aunt who said I had "always been a naughty one". But one of her daughters is married to an abusive drunkard and the other to an older man who refuses to have kids, so I don't see how I'm in a worse position.

But I am feeling too fabulous and happily pregnant to care!

Tee2072 · 03/01/2009 17:23

loooouise fab about the Babyfather getting on board! And do make his mum an ally!

I too am very excited. Mixed in with bits of worry. Monday is my triple test. Still not sure what I will do if the numbers are bad. DH and I are going in circles in discussing it.

Big hugs to all the MS suffers. Mine seems to be all gone.

loooouise · 03/01/2009 17:44

Oooh, thinking about you Tee. I've got everything crossed for you and wishing you loads and loads of luck xx

LittleSarah · 03/01/2009 19:58

Tee - Fingers crossed, I'm sure all will be well.

Looouise and kitteh - We got a bug a boo bee which wasn't the cheapest option but really like it and certainly won't be spending anything near that much on anything else! Basically will buy nappies, a few bits of clothes and a moses basket and little else before big day. Remember, people love buying baby presents! I really would like the bugaboo nest (snuggly thing for in buggy), is quite pricy but I will probably hint to my mum about it nearer the time! .

Looouise - Never heard of Amby nests although have checked them out now! Look very sweet but I admit I'm going with what I know, moses basket then cot. Glad to hear you met up with dad to be and things were good, also glad you're so excited. I'm excited too although probably not as excited as you having done it before. Also, think I'll be far more excited nearer the time, too much to do before then!

For those not feeling much. Don't worry! My cousin (about 20 weeks) isn't sure she's felt anything yet and she's says her dd also wasn't much of a mover. My dd must have been the same as I didn't feel anything there til 22 weeks. I think I happen to have more of a mover this time, I know you're more likely to feel it earlier with a second but this definately seems more pronounced than last time

LittleSarah · 03/01/2009 20:00

Kitteh - re doppler, at the moment baby is still below belly button so we just move it around there until we find a (very fast) heartbeat. Can be difficult earlier depending on position but getting easier I find.

insywinsyspider · 03/01/2009 20:43

jelly - we had a phil and teds double for ds1 and 2 (19 months between them) and it is fab but took us ages to make decision to buy it as they are v pricey but if your dd 20 months when lo due you should get good use out of it, I agree with doris good to try a few and ask around (I was a little nuts and used to ask random mums/dads that I saw out and about with doubles but it did help)

Tee - I've got my triple test on Monday too, hoping theres not too long a wait for the results for both of us! dh and I decided both times before to wait till results in before discussing any ifs and buts about what might happen as you can just tie yourself up in knots

sarah - thanks for reassurance bout not feeling any movements, am worried as felt ds1 at 17 wks and ds2 and about 14 but this little one hasn't had a flutter yet - although maybe the boys are just keeping me too busy to notice....

Kitteh · 03/01/2009 21:38

Im quite excited for getting my doppler tbh.. YAY.. but i know i would worry if i couldnt find a heartbeat..
havnt been sick today, but the last time i got cocky about it my m/s came back with vengeance.. lol..!
Sarah, that sounds lush..! people really do love buying baby stuff for you.. its unreal at how much i've had bought for me.. lol..

Hope you're all good..

CoteDAzur · 04/01/2009 07:36

loooouise - It's lovely to hear you are so happy and positive about the future

I find myself more excited about this pregnancy and this baby than I was with DD, when I was (secretly) wondering if that huge "mother's love" would happen to me and if I would really love this baby. (I was never very maternal and never felt anything for any baby)

This time, I know how much I will love this baby, and I can't wait to meet him

Tee2072 · 04/01/2009 11:56

Morning ladies.

Well, the clothes have been gone through and replaced with ones for a bump to grow! Went on a huge shopping spree on Wednesday and got everything I need for the next 6ish months!

I never realized how many clothes I owned until I packed them away. And that was just nice clothes for work!

ermintrude13 · 04/01/2009 13:11

Hello All

Good work with the wardrobe, Tee. Since I work from home I'm not under much pressure to buy smart new maternity wear, but I'm now unable to do up top jeans buttons so am wearing my sister's fab maternity jeans (Seraphina, v pricey but she wore them to death and so will I). But I'm in that tricky middle stage where my bump - even including my fat belly - isn't quite enough to keep them up. So I walked back from the shops holding carrier bags in both hands and trying to keep the elasticated band from falling further down my hips by walking like John Wayne, while the hems dragged on the floor. Not a good look; hope nobody I know saw me...

Tee2072 · 04/01/2009 13:20

This is why I love my Bella Band, ermintrude. Holds things up or holds things closed!

kiltycoldbum · 04/01/2009 13:24

hello hello may i come in? Ive not read the whole thread, its kind of massive! Im due June 13th am 17 weeks. Will be no3, have one of each so am thinking of not finding out the sex this time and just having a surprise!

Hope everyone is well! I will try and read lots of the posts to get an idea of everyone!
