OK, it's way too early to test yet, and I'm probably tempting fate here, but I've got classic morning sickness, the dates are just about right, and I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant. And I've always wanted to start one of these due in threads .

And if the blue line winks at me in 10 days time, then I'll come clean and post under my real nickname.

Any one else?

hi kit dont be silly welcome to the thread and good luck for the next few months

Kitstar · 13/04/2005 13:35

Sorry- not only did I post that twice (!) but for got to say hello properly? Im totally all over the shop at the mo!

So hello all! Found out I was preg a week ago today (home test) then confirmed by gp- est due date Dec 12th 2005? & very very unplanned? think that's me in a few lines! x

quietlycautious · 13/04/2005 14:22

Kitstar, come in and welcome to both the website and the board. I'm sure you'll find us all very friendly.

Had my booking in appt - was a bit tearful, had to go through the process of what happened with the last baby.

She was very supportive and told me to phone her at any time if I needed.

I will be under consultant care for this baby instead of the usual midwife care - means I have to trek all the way to the hospital for my visit's instead of just down to the local surgery.

Oh well, as long as the bean is in safe hands I don't mind!!!

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 14:38

aww hun glad it wasnt too bad and that mw was nice. Anyway at least if ur under conultant then ur in the best hands....i am going to be brave in a min and make my appointment..lol having just done another test to make sure im not going mad..lol

quietlycautious · 13/04/2005 14:43

We'll boost the profit margins of those testing companies through the roof Nemo!!!!

I did another test this morning too!!! Personally I think we should be given shares in clearblue or some like company just as a goodwill geasture for the amount of money we spend!!!

Go on then, be brave and phone the Dr's!!!
And don't come back till you've done it!!

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 14:45

am i allowed back
booked for mon 10am..nervous as hell now..lol

I am actually sitting considering ordering more tests from ebay..silly isnt it

scully · 13/04/2005 14:51

nah, not silly. I bought some ovulation tests from Ebay last week, they arrived last night, the day after my positive pregnancy tests
Wondering if I can exchange them for 5 pregnancy tests rather

quietlycautious · 13/04/2005 15:00

Yeah - your allowed back lol!!!

Well done for being so brave and making the appt.

I didn't know you could buy test off of Ebay - might have to take a look.

Kitstar · 13/04/2005 15:00

Thanks QC and Nemo- I have been reading through all the past messages with great interest- this is my first pregnancy and I?m doing it sole- (not the best of starts, but my partner of a year doesn?t want kids, so?) & have only anyone else as yet- so loving hearing others experience? you?re actually making me feel v luck- no sickness, a few tum twinges and back/ boob pain but that's it? for now!!!

Have to say, you all seem like pros at this! I have no idea about? anything! But have already fallen out with my gp- (a bit of a stuffy old thing & v disapproving of single parenthood!) so abit in the dark about what happens next? e.g time table- scans, check ups etc

Sorry now I feel like I?m hogging! Any advice v welcome- but no offence if no one can be bother- you all must be v busy being shattered! x

quietlycautious · 13/04/2005 15:06

Kit,

Your GP sounds like a right knob (excuse my french!!!)

How dare he judge you for being alone - I take it from your post that that wasn't exactly your choice anyhow!!!

Well, if you need any help or advice feel free to ask. You should see your midwife to book in at about 8 weeks - so in about 3 weeks time. She'll notify the hospital that your pregnant and they send you a scan appointment in the post.

It depends on your area as to when you get scanned. Where I am they do 12 and 20 week scanning but some only do 12 and some only do 20.

Where abouts are you - there might be someone near you that knows.

HTH

scully · 13/04/2005 15:14

That's awful Kit, didn't think doctors were still that judgemental
So is your midwife going to contact you? I'm in Surrey and my gp took all my details on Monday, and once I decide on a hospital (have a choice of 2), then I'm contacted for appts etc.
Did your Dr explain how it all works in your area?

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 15:23

kit what i would recommend is going to buy a mag like pregnancy and birth just to get an idea...i found it fab when pg with my son. It gives u ideas of what tests and scans etc are carried out when.

goldenoldie · 13/04/2005 15:26

I don't want shared care with my GP (where you see your GP for most anti-natal and only go to the hospital once or twice before delivery).

I had major complications last time, so this time I want complete hopsital care, but been told hospitals don't offer complete care anymore? I live near central London - is this true?

Oh, and GPs get an extra £250 per pregnant mum they sign up for this shared care lark!

Kitstar · 13/04/2005 15:39

You?re all v sweet- thanks! My gp didn?t explain anything- just asked me if I?d considered my ?options? & I was so upset I just walked out? think I?m going to give it a few days and make an appointment to see the other gp in the practise?

Baby mag?s sound like a good idea- it?s all so overwhelming at the mo I?m not really thinking re practical things- I?ve only got 8months to get my working- nightmare!

Any recommendation re good mags/ books? But a bit tentative about buying anything ?preg/ baby? related at such early days- is that silly? x

Kitstar · 13/04/2005 15:41

QC- Im in Nottingham x

quietlycautious · 13/04/2005 15:42

kit,

it's not silly at all - I know alot of people that have avoided buying anything till later on - usually over 12 week.

I don't think it applies to baby mags though - I thing thats more like prams or cots!!!

Although I would avoid getting too many - I ordered every catalogue going last time - Blloming Marvellous, JoJo ManMan BeBe etc etc etc

When I got home from the hospital after the m/c I had to get dh to de-babyfy the house.

BUT having said that - we're all gonna be fine so no worries there

scully · 13/04/2005 15:51

Magazines will definitely give you a better idea of how it all works. Not being English I had no clue about it over here, and had to use the internet/books to research, with dd.
Hopefully the other dr will be a bit more helpful.....
You might also find the DrFoster website might helpful too, gives info on what maternity care is available in your area this

Kitstar · 13/04/2005 16:10

Hugs &

Off home now- shattered already- in bed for 7pm I think!!!!

Bye for now x

golds · 13/04/2005 16:20

Kitstar - looks like you and me are on the same day !

Went to see GP today, the same GP I went to see last week to be put back on the pill because my hormones were giving me a lot of trouble, little did I know he estimated I was just 6 weeks and confirmed that I need to see Midwife at 8.

I feel abit new to this (at the moment) as my other 2 pregancies seem a distant past and I am now in a different part of the county, where things are slightly different.

Think I may tell the kids tonight, as I am rubbish at keeping secrets I can't possibly wait another 6 weeks, I also feel as if I need to explain grumpiness, tierdness and the fact not to jump on me. I am sure they will be excited.

Going out for a meal tonight, it was my birthday yesterday, but celebrating it tonight, what a lovely present Ive had and what a lovely Christmas present everyone else will have

quietlycautious · 13/04/2005 16:40

oh golds, that will be so lovely - I'm really jelous of you!!!

I'd love to be able to tell our dd - she would explode with excitement!!!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY by the way - hope you have a brilliant meal!!

boowidger · 13/04/2005 18:28

Hi everyone. Don't get to post on here that often (no time, funnily enough i'm a nanny for 4 kids under 5!) and when i do come on there are tonnes of new msg's to read throughwhich is great! Welcome to all who have joined in the last couple days. I'm waiting for 1st mw appointment which won't be for 4 wks (i'm 6wks pg) and the time is dragging! Scans around here (somerset) are done at 14 wks unless you've had previous problems so i'm wondering just how to occupy myself for the next two mths! Otherwise i'm feeling ok, although i also am very tearful (mostly with dh who feels more than a little put upon!! Think he wishes he could camp out at work!!). Just wish the next 8 wks would fly by....or even better that i could sleep through them!

boowidger · 13/04/2005 18:30

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Golds for yesterday by the way! Enjoy tonight (imagine the water jug is filled with wine.....)

golds · 13/04/2005 19:34

Thank you, we had a lovely meal and dh told the kids, my dd said 'Oh Ive never seen you fat before' ds said 'great', they both then proceeded to do a little dance in there chairs and said can we put names into a hat and pull them out like we did for dcousins rabbits

They said it was the best news ever and its what they have always wanted and they are going to tell their teachers tomorrow, will be all round school by 9.30 Oh well. Going to put feet up now and watch corrie.

boowidger · 13/04/2005 21:08

BTW, anyone else experienced this....I've completely gone off 'normal' food and am not wanting the usual things that i'd have. However, i'm leaning towards the sorts of things i'm not usually interested in, like cakes and stuff! It's not that i'm craving these things as such, just that i can't be bothered with the usual, IYSWIM! Dh says my tastes can't have changed already (6wks) and i wonder if i'm subconsciously using my pregnancy to indulge myself!!! (You know - "it's alright, i won't be FAT, i'll be FILLED WITH BABY"!!). 1st time pg so everything is new to the both of us.

Nemo1977 · 13/04/2005 21:19

hi boow

it is possible your appetite has changed especially as u start to enter the stage of morning sickness etc...i would just say indulge away
