nauseous · 13/11/2008 21:48

Hello all,

Finally had my scan on Tuesday, saw the baby, heartbeat and all, very relieved, we're 14 weeks tomorrow so slightly further ahead than previously thought. Sonographer indicated that it was a big baby..?! Bit scary ...

My stomach looks like its doubled in size since last week. Not sure how long I can keep it quiet at work...

Next scan is 22 weeks as well Dandy, couldn't get in before. But you may get a cancellation?

Off to go and catch up on everyone else's news!!

FiKelly · 13/11/2008 21:49

why do M&S put their food ads on so late! It got me drooling & i've now got the munchies again...

Febes · 13/11/2008 21:58

Crickey you girls can talk!!!!
Took me all evening to catch up.
RE Buggys I have a urban detour (mothercare) which I bought for 120 on ebay. It came with a carseat which fits on to it. I love it but it is heavy and big, I have a big carboot so not a problem to fit it in. its really comfortable for DD and great to push as it has huge wheels. I also have a small buggy which I hardly ever use but its lightweight and folds small and I was given it so I'll keep hold of it. I was also thinking of doing the sling thing as I do love my urban detour but I worry that I will need a double as DD will only be 17 months old when LO is born. I'm getting a Kari-me sling as my friend has one and its great. I'll look out for a phil and teds double on the cheap as well though I think.

FiKelly · 13/11/2008 22:02

I'm going to take my munchie fancying self off to bed with a small hot choc... can't do a big one or i'll have to get up for the loo in the middle of the night

night night all xox sleep tight

daizydoo · 13/11/2008 22:05

bekkaboo - just wanted to say that when I had ds I had my 2nd scan about 23/24 weeks... I'm in a different area now and everything here is much earlier.

flippineck · 13/11/2008 22:32

Evening! Taken ages to catch up.

Can't remember who was talking about feeling movement , but thought I'd add that i haven't felt anything yet either and 15 weeks tomorrow (2nd child) - I think it's because of the placenta being anterior (at the front) so it cushions everything for a bt longer. Does anyone know if the placenta moves at all? Can't remember.

Frazzled - wraps aren't complicated. They do take a couple of goes to get right, but once you've cracked it they're fab. I find them much more comfortable than babybjorn type carriers as the weight is distributed much more evenly and over a wider area, and they offer a bit more suppot for the baby too.

agooboo · 13/11/2008 22:46

flippineck - the placenta can move as you get bigger.

Just finished sainsburys online. cant face supermarket this weekend. hope ive not forgotten anything!

forgotten i'd invited friends round tomorrow evening. They text tonight to see if it was ok to bring their puppy with them. I'm so tired - just want to crash after work tom.
(she says still on comp at 10.30pm - go to bed, go to bed my pillow is calling)
plus, still not 'anounced' it so gonna have to squeeze into jeans with a big jumper so I can undo button and be uncomfy all night.

Ive got heartburn too. gaviscon here I come pregnancy no. 3 - i swear I'm going to buy shares in the stuff.

yawningmonster · 14/11/2008 02:37

hello all
I can't really add anything to the buggy debate as I am in a different country and haven't even heard of most the ones you are talking about. I have a very cheap no name 3 wheeler from ds which has a clip in carry cot so will be using that again. Also using the lullabye again (sort of a hammock that hangs inside a regular cot and moves with the babies movements) I have been on another thread talking about the guilt of neglected an older child and was so proud this morning as took ds to the forest for a walk, unfortunately was so exhausted in the afternoon I kept on falling asleep when he was talking to me so it didn't work out quite as intended and now he is in front of tv while I try to regain my energy

LoobyLou36 · 14/11/2008 07:26

On the great buggy debate...

As a complete novice - this being first baby, I quite like the look of the Quinny Buzz system. Will keep a look out on ebay in the new year as I'm on a budget and don't think I can stretch to a bugaboo.

Took docs advice last night about more rest to sort out headaches, was in bed by 8.30pm. Mind you hubby took that to mean his luck was in.. seems to have sorted headache out for the mo tho - not too bad this morning.

LoobyLou36 · 14/11/2008 07:28

As for the heartburn agooboo I mentioned it to the doc yesterday and she gave me a prescription for a really big bottle of gaviscon - that should last me a while - will have to go back tho for another me thinks..

LoobyLou36 · 14/11/2008 07:36

At 15+5 I have finally succumbed and am wearing a pair of maternity jeans (bargain - next petite of ebay £6.00 inc postage) they are slightly too big so am wearing with a belt. But they are ssoooo much more comfortable than squeezing into my normal jeans done up with rubber bands!!

However I do have one gripe - why are the legs so wide? my legs haven't changed!

Moonlit · 14/11/2008 11:21

LoobyLou36 - I am a big fan of Quinny pushchairs, I have the zapp and maxi cosi car seat, the only problem with Quinny puschairs is that they don't have cup/bottle holders or a tray at the front for when our bubbies are a bit older.

Moonlit · 14/11/2008 11:24

My 20 week scan will be when I am 22 weeks also! Would have been nice to know the sex of the baby before the sales start

Morning ladies!!

Just back from seeing the consultant & may I say what an ar*e!! He made me feel it was my fault they couldn't find my 12 week scan info, he made me cry by actually telling me to pull myself togther & that maybe I was being a 'little bit silly' after talking about when ds was born and my fears for this one. He also seemed to think I'd changed my due date myself as I must ovulate exactly 14 days after period, blah, blah, blah, in the end he asked for a scan machine himself, the measurements he got still say 30th April/1st May for a due date but has changed it according to my period, even though 3nhs scans say otherwise!!! Grr!!

Oh well, guess I don't have to see him again till Feb!

Rant over

divedaisy · 14/11/2008 12:02

Oh MissyK - that's not a nice consultant attitude. I'd maybe go back to my GP (or speak to one of your MWs) and see if you can change consultant? You should feel able to discuss anything with him without feeling your views don't count.

My '20 week scan' is on 31 Dec and according to my latest EDD (7th May) I shoud be 21+6. I wouldn't want it any later either, beekaboo. But if my later EDDs are used it'll be done around 19/20 weeks.

jael - I too get a cramp like burning type pain on my pubic bone. I had PSD with my first pregnancy (where the ligaments stretch and loosen the 2 halves of the Pubic bone) and I'm putting it down to this again... though I hope I'm wrong.

Have just finished off two cheesey toasties!!! Such a gorb!!

OP posts:
Jael · 14/11/2008 12:30

Back from seeing midwife, she said it could be something that pregnant women get where the ligaments get too loose can't remem exactly what she said so I'm going to google it. She called it a long name lol I'm booked in again for next friday, for blood test and appointment with doctor to check on the pains and review my asthma as it has got worse.

On a brighter note, we heard our baby's heartbeat. DD was in the room and she got so excited saying "I can hear my baby" lol I'm 15w2d today by the way. It does put your mind at rest when you hear it, especially as I can't tel that I'm getting bigger day by day. I have a bump though and it's rather large. I actually struggled to took my skinny maternity jeans into my boots this morning lol prob means I'm heading for another large baby.

Jael X

Momino · 14/11/2008 14:00

MissyK, please could you change your consultant? if i remember, you didn't have a 'good time' last birth and so you need someone who's more sympathetic.

i'm going to need help with the birth (ie am almost to the point of elec caes but will happily go for epidural if they'd just bl**dy give me one) so am talking reg with GP. She knows me and is very sympathetic as I don't need someone (other than myself) telling me to pull myself together.

I hope you do find other support either in your GP or midwife if you can't get another consultant.

Febes · 14/11/2008 14:01

I just power chucked across the lounge floor. Luckily I managed to mainly miss DD who was sitting on my lap. We need to rip out our carpet anywaybut this is rediculous. I'm 15 weeks todays surely it should settle down soon.

MissyK · 14/11/2008 14:13

Momino Yes, you're remembering right, DS's birth was awful, traumatic & most things that could did go wrong Resulting in ds being in special care for 8 days.

You're right, I need someone that I feel comfortable with and takes my concerns seriously, though there's only 1 hospital on the Isle Of Man & 2 consultants so lets hope that I can change, though at the same time I don't want to be seen as a pita..

Momino · 14/11/2008 14:52

i'm trying to learn from dd2s birth. Dd1's was an induction and quite much but i really did forget about it after a bit. For dd2, we didn't prepare as much mentally and for labour i had no clue and won't go into details.

This time, i'm going to try to prepare, do breathing or yoga or hypnobirthing, something to relax as I do think that's important and something i didn't do for dd2s birth.

also will be sure to brief dh so he can push for things (like epidural!) if necessary. i'm sure baby3's birth will be a breeze...

llareggub · 14/11/2008 16:11

I had my appointment with the consultant today. He is very lovely and he was my consultant first time around. We had a nice long chat and agreed that I should do whatever I did last time with DS, so same monitoring, tests etc. He wants me back for a scan at 20 weeks and then again at 24 weeks.

I had an emergency c-section last time, and SPD, giving birth at 37 weeks. We agreed that we'd meet in week 37 to agree method of delivery. I'm ambivalent about delivery method, as I recovered well last time, but obviously not with a toddler in tow! So we'll see. I didn't have a great experience at the hospital post-birth, but I bumped into the lovely midwife there today who helped me establish breastfeeding. She sat up with me through the night when DS was under the phototherapy lamp for jaundice. I was quite tearful to see her again. I wish I'd written to thank her, she really kept my sanity.

JosieC · 14/11/2008 18:07

My bump popped up from nowhere 3 days ago and seems to be growing at a rate of knots. This is my 1st and am sooo proud of it - only wearing tight (but comfy!) clothes from now on so everyone stares! Heard the heartbeat yesterday at my 16 week check too which was soooooo nice. Aaaaah I feel really happy !
