JosieC I envy your bump! And your enthusiasm. I'm just getting to the 'she looks to have put a bit of weight on' stage not yet a bump.

Boss was crap to me at work today. I made a small mistake and she had a field day. made me feel so inadequate. makes me want to get another job but tied to job if I want decent mat package. Boo. SO unfair for us girls!!

hi guys thanks for advice, to update midwife called this morning appears to have been a "clerical error" it should have stated 02/01/09 not 20/01/09 although the times are completely different but anyway all sorted now. With regaards to blood tests, fine aslong as before 18 weeks, the prefer 16 weeks incase results get lost to allow "time" to get blood again! Anyway feel a lot happier today. As for the way she / they were yesterday the midwife said the aren't the best team but like it with everyone. Great aslong as you dont get stuck with them in labour xx

Hi all.
I agree with the one (?) other person who loved their M&P Pliko. Mine was fab, used so much, and will be coming out again for no2. I walk everywhere though, so fitted in wewll with my lifestyle. Agree with all others saying think about your needs and test drive them all!

Agooboo I live in W Yorks too. Anyone else?

MissK sorry to hear about your consultant. He sounds awful. Can you change?

Llareg am watching with interest your decision for birth. My first birth was emergency CS under general after a lovely couple of hours labouring in the pool. I am put off by 'continual monitoring' but don't really want a cs with toddler. My consultant was a bit blunt when I told him I didn't want continual monitoring.

Febes hope you feel better soon.

EmmalinaC · 14/11/2008 19:28

Evening all!
There seem to be an awful lot of us on this thread who had an emergency CS last time and are trying to decide what to do for the best this time - I'm really interested to hear what the rest of you decide and what advice you get. I'm going to leave it as late as possible before I make my mind up but my consultant is happy for me to make the decision which is fortunate, I suppose.

Reggiee - I'm so glad someone else appreciated their M&P Pliko - we seem to be very much in the minority!

agooboo I am jealous of your lack of bump. Mine is huge, although maybe that's just chocolate. My 2 year old DD now follows 'there's a baby in muumy's tummy' with 'and it's really fat'.

bekkaboo · 14/11/2008 19:32

Can anyone tell me whether you choose elective CS if first was E CS? Not that I want one but being able to make the decision myself would be good?

pulapula · 14/11/2008 19:39

Hi all,

Just to say I've put my scan photos on my profile photos page.

EmmalinaC · 14/11/2008 19:40

bekkaboo It depends on how sympathetic your midwife/consultant is. In theory it's your choice but in practice some medical practitioners can make it difficult for you.

llareggub · 14/11/2008 19:41

I'm going to wait until week 37 and have that discussion with my consultant about his thoughts. I trust him implicitly. I can see pros and cons for both methods, and I've decided to wait to see where we end up.

Reggiee · 14/11/2008 19:41

Bekkaboo I've been offered an elective after having an em cs

bekkaboo · 14/11/2008 19:42

we wait and see then. Ive consultant app on 10th Dec, im hoping for vbac but want to be clear i dont 48hrs labour then a E CS. Dont want to be left for ages if that makes sense x

agooboo · 14/11/2008 19:55

Ive just eaten a bag of liquorice allsorts. oops. left all the liquorice only ones though.

Reggiee - glad there is someone else up north. I'll be at DDH where I had my other 2 boys. How about you?

I looked at the phil and teds double buggies on the net last night. There doesn't look to be much space for the child at the front to put their feet (and at the back too) - they seem to go into a point at the font without a foot rest? Does anyone have one? Is it just the picture that makes it look this way?

bekkaboo · 14/11/2008 20:01

Anyone else planning to have theirs at hospital in south derbyshire / staffs??

Jennster · 14/11/2008 21:14

MissyK - Have you heard of the birth afterthoughts debriefing? A midwife will go through the notes they write of your labour and explain what happened and why certain decisions were made. I think most trusts do it in some form or another. I'm going to do it with my 2 births, because the first was fantastic, and the second not so great. I left that labour saying never again and here I am.

Agooboo - I have a mud splattered phil and teds. I love it. Brilliant for a newborn, both as solo or with a toddler sibling sitting above, and then pretty good for 2 toddlers. I have an E3 which is an older version of the Sport. The main difference being mudguards and an easy movable handle on the sport. I have only just had some misgivings about mine recently, and that was because I have a 15 month and a 33 month old. They are both very heavy, and I don't care what sort of pram you have, the children are the same weight, and pushing 4 stone of children is going to be hard work. Especially when pregnant. Oh and because the E3 doesn't have mudguards, if your dh/p steers through dogshit it's on the tyres at the level the children want to put their hands on the wheels. I flipping HATE dogs and their filthy disgusting lazy arsed owners.

Jennster · 14/11/2008 21:15

Sorry about that I digressed there a bit. The pram is fine for leg room unless they are really tall.

MissyK · 14/11/2008 21:19

Evening all,
my health visitor called me before and I burst into tears, 35minutes later it was decided that she is going back to the midwives & trying to arrange a sit down with someone where she will also be present. Usually they go over your notes from the previous delivery but they can not do this due to ds being born in Germany, but Jackie (HV) says that maybe there are other things we could talk about all together. So waiting for a call back from her next week. She wants to suggest that if there's nothing they can do to help with my stresses that they plan an elective as she thinks that by the state of me after today & that I had severe pnd with ds that it may be the best way to reassure me everything will go ok. Otherwise I'll just be worrying all the way into the delivery room.
It feels really good to know that someone is on my side & taking my concerns seriously & into account, she says I could have ptsd that has been 'hidden' until this pregnancy. I know I can talk to her anytime & she will listen, help in anyway she can & she knows me and my entire family, she has even given me her home number & said she will come to appointments with me if I feel I need the back up.

But I'm still requesting a change of consultant!!

Febes · 14/11/2008 21:22

I had a VB after a long labour which ended with a epidural and monitoring but the majority was spent in the water. I hope for a similar experience but will try to stay longer at home this time as they broke my waters at the hospital and that made everything speed up and I lost control of the pain which meant I needed the epidural. This time I would like to try a water birth with gas and air as the needle for the epidural was stabbed in about 6 times and I had a buzzing over my back and legs for about a week afterwards and the epidural didn't really work properly for me (probably not in the right place still) But all and all it was a positie eperience and I can't wait for this time round.

I think I will spend some time getting prepared mentally as last time I had loads of time to do yoga and active birthing classes. I wasn't going to worry this time but I think I might go to yoga for a few weeks as well.

Febes · 14/11/2008 21:23

opps positive experience

FiKelly · 14/11/2008 21:23

evening all just been trying to catch up...

febes sorry you're feeling vile... that was me for the last week and today is the first day I've not felt vile for over a week. Feeling grotty is total pants.

missyk your consultant sounds like a complete pita lets hope you can change to the other one available. I was still bursting into tears talking about DS birth a few months ago. So you're completely normal... I still get emotional but going through my notes from last time with the consultant in the summer really helped me get a handle on everything.

pulapula Your photos are adorable... the scan ones too

Sending huge thanks to who recommended the hot milk maternity wear... I've been feeling so cr**p this last week I decided to spoil myself to their pj's with blooming marvelous as I'd get my MN 10% off. They arrived today and I'm delighted in heaven. They are the only pj's with built in support that i've ever had that stretch to fit my huge 'j' cup boobs & fit my ribs at the same time... usually it's one or the other. The bonus is that I have an attractive supported cleavage to boot which DH likes so much he said I can buy as much of their stuff as I like! Whoo hoo You wouldn't even know they have breast feeding drop down sections... due to some cleverly hidden poppers in the frill seam above the boobs. I've just paid our credit card bill today and i'm now trying to resist buying a sexy black nightie, more pj's, camisoles, knickers... can you tell I'm feeling better?!

Rubysmom08 · 14/11/2008 21:45

MissyK how terrible for you. I would put your foot down and not allow the consultant to behave like this. You have the right to receive a high level of care and should not be short changed.

I had a wonderfullabour but complete shit service from NHS.

I went into labour at 4am, stayed at home until 7am when contractions changed from 5 to 1 min apart. I wanted drugs and help. Got to the hospital and saw a midwife who basically mocked me and said I wasn't in labour, she made me feel so weak, stupid and humilated I stopped my own labour. She then did a sweep without telling me what she was doing. They sent me packing and said they would induce me in the morning now my waters had broke. So I went home feeling like a fraud.

Dh went out to get breakfast while I had a bath, I then had a massive blood loss and ending up being too scared to get back into dh stupid sporty car so I kept telling myself this was early labour while trying to stem the blood etc. DH called midwife who said I 'sounded' ready and got to hospital with 15 mins to spare- however I got there and they still thought I wasn't that far gone so I asked for an Epidural as they had also set me up for monitoring because of the blood loss. The Epidural lady came to ell me what she was going to do and I said something was wrong and I felt strange, with one push the babies head came out and within 45secs Ruby was born.

I had a total of 5 different midwives and two massive holes in my arm because they were so incompetent they could attach a drip properly.

Shoddy shitty service all round and I am having a home birth this time.

Vent over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pushchair wise I am getting a Phil and Ted vibe as have a 9 month old dd who will be 15 onths when bean arrives xxx

EmmalinaC · 14/11/2008 22:06

Febes I think you said a while ago that you're booked into St Helier so presumably you live fairly close to me (Carshalton). I just wondered where you did all your pregnancy yoga? I've tried to find a class locally but haven't had much luck. Last time I went to Sitaram in Brixton but I think it's just too far now...

FiKelly I'm just about to look up those hot milk jim jams - they sounds great. I have similar problems with my enormous bust (30GG!)

EmmalinaC · 14/11/2008 22:17

Er, Jennster, not all dog owners are 'filthy disgusting and lazy arsed'!

FiKelly · 14/11/2008 22:19

emmalinac I'm usually a 28/30J depending on bra make & 12/14 hip so I went for a size medium in both. I deliberated after trying them on whether I should go for a larger top as I fill this one out completely (& have some cleavage on show) but the inside rib support bit under the boobs is such a good fit I know the size up will mean my boobs will drop out the bottom if you know what I mean? The camisole wasn't so good for me as the triangles don't cover me enough... center cleavage is ok it's under the arms I was bulging out a bit. So I think the camisole is going back... With your GG you may have success with not bulging out so much with that one...

EmmalinaC · 14/11/2008 22:22

Thanks FiKelly that is really helpful - I was wondering what the sizing would be like. I have just had a look at it and it is gorgeous! I am sure DH would be delighted with it. He moaned constantly about the voluminous floor length nighties I started wearing last time!
