Morning All. Been up most of the night. Ds2 chronic wind. I am 'DOG tired'.
So the fireworks didn't make all the babies 'pop out' then ?
Did we get one firework baby at all ?

Hope things start happening for you soon MonkeyM

Yorky · 10/11/2008 09:08

Good morning everyone - hope ChocO is cuddled up in bed with a baby!

DH is at work but coming back at lunch so I can go to the dentist (lucky me!) and DS is at nursery so I'm supposed to be being domesticated but seem to have got sidetracked already - not a great start!

Sorry baby is windy and not sleeping, have you done the gripe water thing Ob?

Good luck for today Monkey

Am I very ungrateful that after being away for so long DH is doing my head in and he's only been back one weekend and is here for a fortnight! He tidied the lounge last night - which means there is a pile of toys on the settee and nowhere to sit! He took DS to Focus to get an attachment for the hosepipe and run him around as the weather was rotten and now he can't remember where he put my car keys when they got back! He's also done the washin gup but has tunnel vision so nothing on the stove behind him, or his mugs (3!) in the lounge didn't get washed. Is it a bloke thing and should I be grateful that he's trying?

chocolategal · 10/11/2008 09:16

morning all!
hope we get news from choco soon

yorky i think all DH's are a bit like that (mine def is) he does mean well but his tidying and mine are totally different!

MonkeyMargot · 10/11/2008 10:01

Sorry you didn't get any sleep obs...the joys of newborn babies!
yorky sympathies re. your DH and cleaning. Does he also expect abundant amounts of praise when he "tidies up"? I know mine does. He also enjoys grumbling about how "filthy" or "disgusting" something is that he is trying to tidy or clean. Which is probably why I do everything myself so I don't have to listen to him moaning!
No news from choc as yet. Here's hoping Baby Choc has arrived safely and they are all having a nap.
Thanks for your positive vibes - still no baby action here .

Yorky · 10/11/2008 10:09

Of course he needs patting on the head and a choccie biccie when he's been good! But he's actually pretty good about not complaining that I let the housework get away from me during the week when he's away, thats why I feel bad complaining, and I was so looking forward to having him home for a bit! No pleasing some people.
Changing the water in the fishtank now, is that nesting?!

sparkletoes · 10/11/2008 10:20

Oh my goodness Yorky I think our DHs were seperated at birth!! Completely understand why you feel 'ungrateful' for the 'help'! It is frustrating but I prefer to choose my battles (as much as my patience allows)!

Hang in there MonkeyM!

Wonder what has happened to ChocO...

Waves to everyone else.

Morning All !!!!!!! Oh yes i'm back. Esme and I were discharged last night at 7.00pm. I was over the moon. We had to wait for the consultant to give Esme the once over but we are home now. Wow, how 8/9 days in hospital can get you down when you adn your baby are on different levels of the hospital.

SO.... Firstly, thank you ever so much to everyone for their kind wishes whilst Esme and I were causing a stir. The story so far...

Thursday 30th/31st October 12.00pm, wake up with a strange pain and went for a wee. Got back into bed. This happened at least 12 times but i was still convinced I had a urine infection (derrr), pain got gradullay worse so I rang the Labour ward. I was trying to convince them i had a UTI adn the lady said "I don't think so sweetheart i think you are in labour", well i was gobsmacked! 2 seconds later I wasn't that gobsmacked as contractions very quickly became so intense that i couldn't walk and they 5 minutes apart. We rang labour ward again and i couldn't speak so DH had to say i think we should come in. Of course, i was supposed to be going away for the weekend (you know the luxury last weekend away) so my bags were not packed. I ran around like a headless chicken and every 5 minutes bending over like I was about to die.

We got in the car and set off ont eh 30 minute journey. Contractions were now 3 minutes apart and I had to keep shouting "STOP THE CAR" as I got myself out of the car and stood in a rather precarious position with knees bent and legs apart (V strange pressure feeling). Got to hospital asked for the pool and they said someone was in it. Alas i started with the gas and air. All my pain was low in my tummy and so horrendous i couldn't actually walk.

Gas and air was naff (for me), didn't do a thing, other than possibly take my mind off the pain as i kept on flinging it to DH to ask him to check it was coming through ok. Then they told me the pool was empty and they would prepare it for me which could take 45 minutes. In the meantime they ran me a bath. BOy did that NOT help. So i pleaded for more painkillers. They offered me diamorphine which i snapped up but they explained i woudln't be allowed in the pool. I didn't really care so my birth plan went out of the window, the bath didn't do a thing.

Diamorhphine didn't even take the twinges away, now did it(very disappointingly) make me feel woosy. Instead i insisted on an epidural (once again that was a big NO NO to me). They said they woudl have to check me as i needed to be 4cm dilated, however and to everyones surprise i was hardly dilated so i had to wait.

Received epidural and all i can say is "NEVER SAY NEVER and oh my god I love that DOCTOR". It took forever and 23 hours later I was ready to push (this is all after watching Alan Carrs Ding Dong and other rubbish on the tv). MW was desperate to give me an episiotomy but i was having none of it. After 3 hours (A VERY LONG 2nd stage so they say) I delivered Esme Grace... 6lb 14oz.

Once the placenta was out i started bleeding and was on high level of blood loss so MW started panicking. She got a doctor in and it was discovered i had quite a large internal tear . Anyway, I was stitched up whilst I was sucking on an ice pop and all was fine. I was shocked that esme had so much dark hair.

I really wanted to get her to the breast so i asked the MW. She kind of plonked her on me and left us to it. I was a little perplexed as I thought it was totally natural for babies to feed straight away BUT NO... there were so many babies who were having dificulty.

Anyway, long and short of it is that Esme, started showing signs of being poorly, plus having Jaundice and not feeding. She ended up getting worse and having a tube placed down her nose for feeding. She has lots of blood tests and her levels showed she had an infection and was quite jaundice. The consultant decided he wanted to do a lumber puncture and so was taken upstairs for that but whilst up their they decided she had gone down hill and placed her in the high dependecy unit. She was eventually placed under the sun lamp (on holiday) and was on antibiotics. Bless her she was so small to have a cannula, tubes and monitors.

She was then moved to low depended but still in the neonatal unit. Where she was having to learn to suck. Thoughts of tongue tie were expressed but it was decided not. She just did not want the breast (god knows why) so I was adament she must have breast milk so this little sexy goat got pumping! Double pumping too!!! Over a period of 4 days she had perfected taking a bottle (although not the strongest of suckers). On discharge we were informed that she also had a heart murmur but that they would keep an eye on it with a follow up appointment. Anyway after this long story we were dicharged last night!!!

AND..... just in time for me to announce that we have more BABY ALERTS

Chocorange sent me this text this morning.. " Baby boy born at 5.34am weighing 8lb 20z. Had to transfer to hopistal so will tell all when i'm back home. I will send a pic". Yippee another birth. Will keep you up to date when I hear more. Thank god I was out last night so i could let you all know. xxxxxxx

Sorry about the very long post.

p.s. CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE ELSE ON THEIR new babies. Rutho etc... (need to read the thread)xxxxxxxx

Roca · 10/11/2008 10:53

Hi Everyone - long long time no speak. I have been checking in now and then to see all the babies that are coming. Congrats to you all - and to Choco - I read your other thread and have been hoping we would have an update.

I am booked in for planned c section on Wednesday (39wks). Am nervous and exhausted - just want to sleep for the next two days and chill not run 2 children to playgroup and school - am excited but getting v. anxious - so many emotions going on.

Have to go to hospital today for pre-op appointment but know it will make me a bit wobbly, especially as have to go alone - I hope my legs hold up just walking into the maternity unit.

MonkeyMargot · 10/11/2008 10:53

Welcome back Pinkali - great to hear about your birth experience, even if it wasn't all plain sailing. You must be so happy to be back home with baby Esme (gorgeous name).
And FAB news also of ChocO - hoorah!!!!!

misdee · 10/11/2008 10:57

still no baby from me. pains stopped last night, even after i decided to allow dh to do a 'sweep' of sorts. i slept well. have been to see midwife to check for urine infection, and that was clear. everything is ok.

so just waiting andf twinging slightly.

chocolategal · 10/11/2008 10:57

Goodluck for today roco im sure everyone will be lovely and it takes you that one step closer to holding your baby

can i ask a quick question ?
is everyone getting as much movement as they were before?

im 39+2 and yesterday and today movements def less....phoned MW who said to monitor it over next couple of hours and if im concerned at all then to pop in for CTG monitoring.

just wondering what everyone elses experiences were???

Yorky · 10/11/2008 11:03

Pinkali - welcome home, you sound like you had a tough time but are very happy with life atm!
Congratulations to ChcoO and baby Choc! its a shame she didn't get her HB, looking forward to the story.
Still twingey, fish can now see where they are swimming, going to hoover upstairs before collecting DS

WELCOME BACK Pinkali!! Thanks for sharing your story and well done! I am with you on the 'see how it goes' theory. You def can't plan for the unknown after all. Much love to you and Esme Grace.

WOW to ChocO too! She is keeping us guessing tho no?!! Boy or girl? Name? So many questions! Await the full story with much anticipation!

Haey! *Roca! I was just thinking about you the other day as we haven't heard from you in aaaaaaaaaaages! Good luck for your pre-op and for wed - are you getting excited?

ChocolateGal I had the same question last week as one day baby didn't move AT ALL for ages. I do think when there is less room that they are less active but I was concerned until it started flickering again. I think that as long as you can count 10 movements a day then nothing to worry about but I will also be mentioning this to my MW tomorrow.

Ah just read back and see it was a boy!

MerryMarigold · 10/11/2008 11:39

Congrats for getting home Pinkalia and managing to express. Sounds like a similar to story to my Jude, the poor thing, they swapped hands for the canula half way thru so he had too sore hands. A couple of very scary days for us, I'm sure for you too. You must be so relieved to be home.

Wow, ChocO had a boy!! I knew it! Can't wait to hear birth story.

MerryMarigold · 10/11/2008 11:42

Any news from rutho or HM2J, they are not on announcement thread. Wonder if ChocO will go for Elvis for her baby boy!!!

vbab78 · 10/11/2008 11:46

chocorange - CONGRATS!

yorky - My DH when he does help only does half jobs and gets upset when I tell him what he should of done to do it right or make it easier for him (even if just trying to teach him like I was taught). "Can't do anything right!". Problem is I know he isnt stupid but he just doesnt seem to engage his brain.

You could argue any help is better than none but sometimes it is just a pain.

pinkali - thanks for putting your story on . With DS G&A did nothing for me eiter but I think it was because I couldnt judge when to breathe in so would get the relief after feeling the pain. I personally have been put off diamorphine or pethidine so I wouldnt ever have them (prob eat my words). With DS I then had epidural which was amazing for me .... while it lasted! It stopped working on one side after about an hour and the hospital didnt "fix it" so for the remaining many hours had half the pain. DS after getting stuck (9lb 4 & back to back) ended up being assisted. DS also didnt want to breastfeed, had jaundice and was diagnosed with a heart murmur but after tests apparantly he has got a murmur but not a bad one and wont cause him any probs and hasn't as he is very active always has been.

vbab78 · 10/11/2008 12:07

41wks today and still no baby or signs.

in 2 minds whether to contact midwife re wee (very occassional) pains and other bots of stuff mentioned yesterday especially as supposed to be seeing her Thurs. Not had a pain yet today but could be like other days when i think i wont get it again then i do once.

LackaDAISYcal · 10/11/2008 12:14

CONGRATULATIONS ChocO and welcome to mini ChocO

Can't wait to hear the rest of your story.

Welcome home PinkAli; you must be so relieved. Here's hoping Esme goes from strength to strength now you are home. I hope you are getting help with the feeding as well.

thanks for posting yoour story, and lol at the uti; I was the same!!

Tinkerisdead · 10/11/2008 13:22

helllloooooo...no babies here still.
*chocolategal8 i have very little movement nowadays, i'll be 40 weeks on friday and i perhaps get the odd shuffle on the hour, its def restricted movment in there as i get brushing limbs rather than kicks now.

Pinkali so good to have to back on here, cant believe you left me here waiting for baby! I was convinced you were having a boy after all the "tarquin" references. Glad you and esme are safe and sound

congrats to heartmum, Rutho, Choc and rosa and all the babies...loving all the names too.

i have had midwife here again, sweep did nothing on saturday, blood pressure still too high so yesterday i turned pc, phone and mobile off and did a 1000 piece jigsaw whilst sat on my birth ball. the peace was heavenly. turned mobile on and inundated with bullshit texts about any news again. Im gonna change answerphone and send a blanket text out now cos im sick of it..
