Thanks! I know that I'm probably worrying over nothing but I also know that if something happens to this baby then I don't want to ttc again, I just can't face any more.

Making a roast chicken dinner today to cheer me up. Loads of bread suce, mmmm .

Enjoy your dinner and relax also I had period pains all the way through....and contrary to popula beleif my BH hurt sometimes so much I was doubled over sometimes in pain, I am sure you and your baby are totally fine. But your worry is more than understandable

Phoebe is great, she is sleeping really well and breastfeeding like a trooper!
sparky tomorrow is my first day alone with the two of mine as well, not looking forward to it lol!!! DS is great with her, but is 2 and a handful!
Glad everyone is doing so well and cannot wait until we have more birthing news!!

Spent the day cleaning the house today as DS went to the beach with a friends family & god am I paying for it now, my syaticia (can't spell that one) is really painful tonight I can hardley walk after I've sat down for a while, just had a lovely hot shower & seems to have helped a little, might have to take my midwife up on the offer of going for some physio.

Funtime I also got period type pains for quite a while, can't remember when they went but they are slowly coming back as I've felt a little uncomfortable the last couple of days, think it cause I'm now fully stretched & my body is just getting use to it. You have to remember that your body is going through some big changes & we have to expect some pain.
I got myself a doppler when I was about 12 wks so that I could listen for the heartbeat to put my mind at rest, in the begining it was quite hard to find it but as the wks roll on & the baby gets bigger it gets alot easier & really does give you that peace of mind, even now at 27+wks I still use it on days when I havn't had lots of movment just to check all is ok, they are not too expensive on ebay & it could be what you need

Heebychick · 07/06/2009 20:37

Hi all,

funtime I had pains too, i also bled badly at about 6 ish weeks and then at 12 weeks, i worried just the same and here i am at 35 weeks feeling very full of baby! Try not to worry and as smiley says maybe buying a doppler might help - altho i too remember them being hard to use to start with so be warned.

nelix Phoebe sounds amazing and i wish you tons of luck for your first day alone tomorrow - any tips would be welcome, i am concerned about having both toddler and baby together on my own.

We had a lovely day today, the party last nite was a huge sucess and DH was perfectly surprised by it all, it was brilliant. Today we went to family for lunch today which was mayhem with lots of babies, toddlers, oldies but it was so nice.

xx

Hello! Well DP went into work and she was not meant to be gettin paternity leave for a couple of weeks as her boss messed it all up and filed her application late. But she came home at 3pm yesterday as they had hurried it through! so she is home for 2 more weeks which is fab!!! So I only had 4 hours a lone and boy what a 4 hours lol! I was getting my neice and nephew from school and 10 mins before leaving Phoebe decided to poo and wee all out her nappy and up her back!!! so was a mad dash change and threw the poor child in her sling, other on buggy and ran to school. Now today I can barely walk!!! but as I say DP is off so I am getting pampered

Now as promised here is a link to a photo and i hope it works!!!

Nelix she is beautiful
great news about your DP getting her 2wks off just when you need them, sounds like you are coping really well, but don't over do it remember what you have been through xx

Pezzina · 09/06/2009 14:18

Nelix she is gorgeous! I am so glad your DP has been able to get the leave to be home with you.

I hope you don't mind but as a first timer I have a few questions to ask you (1) about water births, as I am really keen to have one and wanted to know if you would recommend it and (2) have been looking at baby slings and wondered if there were particular one(s) you would suggest.

This is open to any other 'experienced' mums too - I just really do not have a clue and would appreciate all help and suggestions from you lovely ladies.

Heebychick · 09/06/2009 23:14

nelix i just want to nibble her she's so pretty!!! You are very lucky and she is adorable, and butter wouldn't melt in her mouth surely??

Sounds like you are doing really well, i'm getting quite concerned about the 'coping with 2' thing but hey what will be will be! Well done honey.

pezz i am hoping for a water birth or at least a water labour even if i'm not allowed to give birth in one (due to previous csection) and i really believe in them, my friend had 2 babies in water and realy found it relaxing and helpful for pain relief.

I have just been given a 'closer' baby carrier for my birthday and i love it!! it's so soft, easy to use and looks all 'earth mummy' which i love, it's not a hard backed one so more of a sling for close body contact etc but so far i'm smitten. We had a solid backed one for when DD was a little older and now we have a backpack, all of which she loved, i would suggest one where you can change positions for them as they grow or need to feed etc plus when they grow it's nice for them to be able to loout outwards.

I am seeing midwife tomorrow for my 35 week check (34 i think but i'm 35 weeks tomorrow) and i've been having sharp pains in my very lower tummy area, like the top of my pubic area, not sure what it means but guessing it's baby making it's wy down in a way and that area stretching etc? Have been told i'm not having another scan (they thought i might due to size of head circum) so will wait and see what size it comes out as! eeek!

Pezzina · 10/06/2009 07:30

Good luck with your MW appointment today, Heeby! And thanks for the info re. Waterbirths and the 'closer' baby carrier.

35 weeks - you're practically there! I am soooo looking forward to meeting my little baby. I can feel them moving around so much more now and it really makes me smile when I do.

We've been looking at furniture for the nursery and the count-down for Mat Leave has begun - just under 8 weeks to go!

spats · 10/06/2009 09:25

Nelix she is so cute. I just saw my friends newborn yesterday and he was also gorgeous. It made me so impatient for mine to come. Got ages though.
I feel so tired at the moment and lacking energy and enthusiasm to do much, hope this phase passes at some point. We are going on holiday to Yorkshire on Friday for hte week and i feel that it will be hectic as you tend to do stuff everyday on hols whereas at home some days you can vege out a bit. And with 2ds who are already excited about holiday i have a feeling it could be hard work! but its a break (well of sorts!!)
I actually never got on with the baby slings. We had a bjorn one and the boys both got really hot in them so i gave up with them. Mind you they were both heavy babies and i found them heavy to carry around. Tried hoovering with DS1 in sling and was hard work.

Good luck with midwife heeby - you are so close to the finsh line, how exciting!! xx

C1NDY · 10/06/2009 10:01

Nelix I came in for a sneaky peek at what all the other girls were up to... and glad I did... what a beautiful baby... I am so happy for you and your family! come and join us on the ttc thread when your ready to try again!! hehehe! thought I would add that in, only joking that must be the last thing you are thinking of right now. Look after yourself. Cindy x

Hi All, not long now for some of you!! Take care and look after yourselfs. Cindy x

smileycat · 10/06/2009 11:00

Pezz I too I'm hoping to have a water birth, but I don't get back to Portsmouth until 4 wks before she is due so hoping that the pools are not booked out for my due date as I can't register until I get there. I spent the night in & out of the bath with DS when I was in early labour & it felt great being in there & worse when I got out, so def hoping I can stay in the water this time around, they wouldn't let me have a water birth with him as he was early & they wanted to monitor him so I was strapped up with leads attached to my tummy.

I bought a second hand Tomy carrier from ebay the one that you can detach the baby from without having to undo all the straps, have yet to use it with some weight in it but it looks the part. I used one all the time with DS as I didn't drive back then & it was great for getting on & off buses with bags of shopping & baby bits, with out having to worry about lugging a huge big pram along. Can't believe he's 11 on Sat, where has the time gone

WanabeMum · 10/06/2009 13:38

Hi all!
Nelix what a beautiful little baby you have! Congratulations!!

You all must read my mind as I too would like a water birth and came on here today with the intention of asking about it, but no need now!
I'm a little concerned though as there is a midwife led birthing centre where you are practically guaranteed a birthing pool, however there are no medics on site so would have to be shipped to the nearest hospital if there was a complication
Otherwise it's hoping the one in the hospital is free, or that they have the staff to look after you up there. Plus the hospital near the birthing centre is horrible and not my local. Help!!! What do you think? I have an appointment with my midwife Friday and it's things she is going to ask me about. Want some sort of clarity before i go.

Heeby almost there! maybe baby is getting into position, sounds good!

Heebychick · 10/06/2009 13:48

Hi all,

Well so much for baby getting into position ... it is now breech! tut. So i guess i'm getting feet low down causing those pains rather than a head pushing down, humph. Still i have a while yet so hopefully it'll turn again. My next appointment is at 37 weeks and if it hasn't turned then i will be sent to hospital to discuss options - nice! So all that prep for a VBAC might of been in vain after all!

Lovely to hear from you cindy good luck for the next few weeks and months honey.

wananbe i would say if you are having a normal pregnancy and pose no risk then maybe consider the birthing centre? They can do lots and will be prepared for any emergency, lus the hospital near by might be ok in the middle of an emergency - you might think much of it at that point? But do talk to MW and see what they say, or how about a home birth if not?

nelix2000 · 10/06/2009 13:48

How did it go Heeby?? Pezz I wuld certainly recommend it. I got in the pool when in labour with DS but it felt wrong, I think my body knew labour would not be straight forward, and he had complications. This time it felt right and midwife was fantastic. The whole thing was relaxed and enjoyable, with little invovement of the midwife. It was the best thing I have ever done

As for slings I used a babsling for DS and will use it again for DD. Only thing is I never ofund it great for newborns, its perfect from about 3 months!!

Hi ladies,

I am glad to see you are all well and blooming! Nelix little Phoebe is gorgeous! Funtime I hope you are feeling better and that everything is ok. Have you had your antenatal appt yet?

I haven't posted here much as I have days of absolute panic which I feel bad inflicting on you as you all way further along than little 6 week me. I had some blood tests done which showed the HCG levels going up as they should do which was great and I found very reassuring. I have a scan booked for a couple of weeks which I am having to do privately but until then will prob keep to myself. I am acutely aware that 6-8 weeks is crunch and it is going to be a long couple of weeks.

Till then my grapefruit friends! x

Pezzina · 10/06/2009 17:36

Hi Wasabi Please never hesitate to post on here - we are all here to support you - it doesn't matter what stage we are in. We are all grapefruit buddies - one for all and all for one! Please keep us posted. It sounds good that your HCG levels are going up - long may that continue. Sending you lots of good wishes - I'm sure all will be fine. Just look after yourself, take things easy and one day at a time. Two weeks will come round sooner than you think. (hugs) xx

Pezzina · 10/06/2009 17:44

Heeby - sorry to hear the baby is in breach. I'm sure I've read somewhere that there are some positions you should try getting in (!) that encourage the baby to get into the head down position. Will have a look at my 'baby bible' tonight and see what they suggest.

Thanks for all the replies re: Waterbirths - they do sound fab. I know they have one pool at the hospital I will be going to - but my worry is that it will be occupied when I want it. Other option is homebirth of course but as its my first I'm a little worried about how I'll cope with labour (and so is my DH!). I'm seeing the midwife next week so will discuss my options with her.

Heebychick · 10/06/2009 19:29

Thanks pezz yes let me know if they recommend anything, i am a little blue about it but i know it can still turn so i think i'll keep active and hope it makes it's turn soon!

wasabi honey please do post anytime and remember we are with you all the way over the next 2 weeks and beyond. The power of positive thinking is amazing so keep those good thoughts going and try to keep your mind busy over these delicate weeks.

funtimewincies · 10/06/2009 20:30

Nelix - what a gorgeous little girl (but you knew that already )!

Wasabi - I'm really well thanks. Had my appointment today and saw a lovely registrar who was very understanding of my position. She was having trouble getting a heartbeat with the doppler and rather than string out the agony, she ushered me straight to the scanning room to see that my baby is fine (and very wriggly). They're going to scan at about 30 weeks too, just to be on the safe side. It's great to hear that things are pootling along as they should. I agree that something important goes on at 6-7 weeks, some final implantation which does or doesn't happen properly. Fingers crossed .

Heeby - sorry to hear it's breech. Get yourself on your hands and knees at every opportunity with your bum in the air! I know a few people who've turned their babies that way .

spats · 10/06/2009 20:36

You are all so brave, give me the epidural to take away the pain i say!!! no water births here, i need the drugs

Wasabi - its a horrid time and to be honest the worries never go away even after the 12 weeks. I still worry something will happen even now, its such a stressful thing the pg lark. But post if you have any niggles or worries as it helps to sound out on people.

I have taken 2 lots of iron today and had a nap this afternoon and am starting to feel nearly normal again!! Hopefully will have energy for hols after al. Midwife said will check hb at 28 weeks but said to take iron anyway - mind you brought flurodex (not sure how spell it) as natural remedy and had with 1sy DS and was £8.99 bottle - blimey this baby is already costing someting. I think my £190 grant will just be taken up on iron supplements!!
