Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SparkyMalarky · 25/03/2009 10:59

Funtime - sending you vibes to try and stay positive, I had cramps with this one too (and none with my MC) - very very common in early PG. Although one GP I saw said I wouldn't get a reassurance scan, the one I saw to say 'I'm up the duff again' was fab, and (possibly as I was sobbing) said, you can't wait 8 weeks for a scan - we'll get you one sooner at the EPU, and referred me straight away. Otherwise as Heeby says, might be worth having a trip out for a private scan (there are loads in London town!) There are lots of encouraging stories on the Knicker Checkers thread over in pregnancy too - I'm still lurking over there

Nelix - the SPD sounds dreadful...hope you get on ok today. Have you tried any other 'complementary' treatments to see if they could help? No wonder you're ready to pop already!

heeby - how's the tooth? If it makes you feel any better I'm up at 5:30 every day to wee now and then can't get back to sleep....why doesn't nature let you get lots of sleep before the baby comes!! Am still at work - and will be for another 4 weeks so can't even get a little nap in during the day (well, it might be a bit obvious at my desk!)

Am feeling a bit more reticent about the whole VBAC thing I think because I had an ELCS last time - so have no experience of labour or how it's likely to go. So actually, although the recovery is bloody awful, it feels a bit more 'manageable' - as I have no idea how labour will be! Also - they've said I'll need CFM so will be pretty much strapped to a bed, which seems to me to make me more likely to end up with a section anyway, in which case, why not just book it....oh I don't know. My DH feels the same as yours tho heebs, I think it's because they feel like it's more 'controlled'...I'm going to see the position of the baby at 38 weeks and if she's in a good one, will stick with the VBAC plan, but if it looks like it did with DS, I think I'll ask about an ELCS....

Sorry - long and rambling 'me' post. How's everyone else?

smileycat · 25/03/2009 14:05

wow its been busy on here over the last couple of days. Great to see so many more faces (names) on here now, sending sticky vibes your way.
Pezz I'm nearly 17wks too & have been feeling waves in my tummy over the wkend & these last couple of days I've started to get some very mild kicks, but kicks all the same, its such a lovely feeling, especially as only I can feel it at the moment, selfish but its really bonding.

Nelix & Sparky your girls will be here before you know it, I can't believe how quickly time is going already, I know it must seem like time has stopped for you both I remember that last stage too well

Heeby hope the tooth isn't too bad for you

I'm seeing my midwife on the 31st & she is really approachable as its such a small place here, we pretty much get one to one treatment so if there are any questions that you are not getting answers for & need me to ask her on your behalf, just let me know

Heebychick · 25/03/2009 14:08

sparky i totally know how you feel, i am a born organiser (my career reflects this!) and hate to be out of control - which is what worried me about labour, with a CS i know what to expect and how it feels so i won't be upset if i have to have one. i, like you, am going to see how we go towards the end and if baby is back to back again or breech etc then will go with the elcs. Can you book one then cancel it if you decided to go down the VBAC route? or do you think this will sway you even more to have an elcs? My consultant told me that i would 'potentially' be able to book a cs and come in the next day or so so that helped me to realise i would be able to wait until the very end almost (providing it doens't make an early appearence!).

The biggest drive for me is i don't want to be immobile, i hate the thought of lying there for hours on end again and wanted to be active.... hard isn't it.

As for the tooth i went in and explained my pain thinking 'oh i'll have to have a filing maybe or some anti-biotics etc if there's a problems etc' oh how wrong i was, i ended up having to have my wisdom tooth taken out!!!!!

But glad it was done there and then as i would of chickened out totally if i'd have gone away and had time to think about it. Yuk.

SparkyMalarky · 25/03/2009 15:05

Thanks Heeby - feel better about it already I think you can book a section pretty late (last time, I saw the consultant at 2pm on Thursday afternoon, and turned up for my elcs on Friday morning) so presume it will be the same - they must do that if they discover a baby is breech quite late on etc!

It's the immobility that worries me too - I keep remembering the first night after the op, and then how wierd it felt for a week after (like nothing was quite in the right place!!)

How's the mouth? A wisdom tooth out is pretty serious - agree it's best not to think about it!

Smiley :O aren't the first movements sooo lovely!! And I completely understand the selfishness - it's lovely when it's only you that can feel your baby (poor DH!!) Although now I can freak him out by the strange alien movements my tummy makes when she rolls over!!

Heebychick · 25/03/2009 16:00

thanks sparky that's good that you can leave it until late too, see how you go and maybe wait until you know what position she is in etc - girls are always awkward!! Keep me informed though as chatting with you about it is really helping me too.

the tooth is good and what's great is that my boss was very surprised and chuffed that i came back to work, he said 'well done you i really didn't expect to see you back here today' proving i am a strong woman!! grrr! tee hee!

I love the first movements and felt the same as you smiley i loved that bond we both had before anyone else, i felt the same about BF and was upset when i gave up as i felt this was something only we shared.

Mind you how wrong i was - if only i knew i'd be sharing every toilet visit with DD at 2 years old.

smileycat · 25/03/2009 17:24

I run an office where groups can book it out to hold meetings etc in it. This last couple of weeks on a Monday we have had a parent group in run by the midwifes, its for the girls that are expecting in the next couple of months, I've been listening in on the class to get a heads up on labour etc & next week she is showing them a video on the birth with all the gorry bits an all, it will have been 11 years since I gave birth the ds so I think I'll def sit in on that class & see what I'm letting myself in for....I'll keep you posted

Well done you on the tooth front Heeby I think I'd be the same as you & would chicken out if they gave me the option of coming back at a later date.

sparky I know what you mean about not being mobile. I was 4 wks early with ds & they wouldn't let me off the bed when I was in labour as they had to strap a monitor to my belly to keep an eye on his heart rate.
I would love to have a water birth this time round or at least to have the option of vegging in the bath when things are getting too much even if I don't end up giving birth in there

Pezzina · 26/03/2009 10:16

Smiley ? you?re so lucky to have felt your baby move ? I can?t wait till it happens to me, but as this is my first I guess it will be slightly later ? so in a another week or so?

Heeby ? bless you having your wisdom tooth out AND going straight back to work!! Didn?t you suffer much swelling?

Well, my DH and I are now the proud owners of a pram/pushchair, car seat and baby bath. The pramette is a Mamas and Papas Pliko Pramette which I bought from the lady on our reception at work. She had a baby two years ago now and hasn?t used it for a while. We went and had a look at it this weekend and it is in super condition. She wanted £75 for it and it came with lots of extras so we?re very pleased. She also gave us the baby bath. We then went and bought a car seat that goes with the pramette. So our first lot of purchases for the baby! Exciting stuff!

SparkyMalarky · 26/03/2009 10:35

quick message for Funtime - not sure if this is any use for you but St George's hospital in Tooting South London has a self referral policy at the EPU....even if it's not, there may be one closer to you that has the same system (apparently St G's is even open on saturday!!)

back later

nelix2000 · 26/03/2009 12:24

Hello everyone!...frigging physio has really hurt my right leg! my muscle feels like its in spasm! and last night I cried going to the toilet in the middle of the night it was that sore(plus I have to go downstairs up to 6 times a night which doesnt help) role on new house with normal set up of bathroom upstairs!!! I dont care that the bathroom resembles a 60s throwback

Just to say not sure how often I will be online with the move etc and new broadband takes 2 weeks to get going.....! but will be able to check every couple of days I am sure!

Pezzina · 26/03/2009 12:34

Good luck with the move Nelix!! I?m so sorry to hear you are in such pain Please try and rest as much as poss. Big hugs x

funtimewincies · 26/03/2009 20:05

Thanks for thinking of me Sparky . Unfortunately, I'm in the wilds of Wales and the hospitals cover a huge geographical area, a 2 hour journey each way for some people just for a routine appointment. They very much consider you a big girl's blouse to be worrying about such a trivial thing as mcs. You just get on with it and fit in with them, etc. Mind you, I wouldn't swap it for the mad, urban South East any day .

Feeling quite positive at the moment, horrible enough symptoms even at 5 weeks to keep he hopeful.

Sorry to hear about your tooth Heeby and chocolate to you too Nelix.

Heebychick · 26/03/2009 21:53

Hi ladies,

Thanks for all the kind sympathy on the tooth front, remarkably it has all been totally fine, the swelling went down by the evening and i've had no pain today, just a bit of a sore cheek where he pulled it about. I had about 6 people say what a hero i was for coming back to work, i guess i really did earn those brownie points which is nice!

nelix good luck with the move honey, i feel for you so much, it sounds just hell, i hope you can get chance to rest as much as poss and hopefully your little girl will pop out early or on time at least!

My DH is out tonight and i'm in danger of breaking into the easter eggs i've just bought - would that be awful? Wanna share?

SparkyMalarky · 27/03/2009 09:10

oooh, wish I'd been on last night for some easter eggs...I was watching that super skinny pregnancies thing on ITV - v v sad. Did anyone else see it? Felt obliged to eat a couple of biscuits

funtime glad (in the nicest possible way) that you're already feeling ropey! can't imagine being in the wilds of Wales...I'm in west london!! (I need to be within walking distance of a starbucks and a clothes shop at all time )

nelix - good luck on the move and don't go lifting anything! You must stay in a 'supervisor' role!!

Pezzina it's so exciting when you start getting all your baby stuff! we had a pramette for DS and used it into the ground for over 2 years before we switched to a maclaren - It's especially good when they're tiny..and it folds up really well! I've got a P&T coming this time...although DS will be just 3, we hardly ever drive anywhere, so want to be able to strap him in - especially if we're in town for the day!

I'm sooo tired today, need to get some work done whilst DS at nursery and I have the house to myself but cannot get motivated...

spats · 27/03/2009 09:57

Dont talk to me about Easter eggs. I have got through 3 after eight ones and 2 quality street one . I LOVE EASTER EGGS, somehow the chocolate seems so much tastier and they are 1/2 price in tesco which makes it so much easier to buy more!!

Glad you got some baby stuff pezz, exciting isn't it. I am getting a new pram as one i had for 2 boys is very heavy so we are keeping as spare. May go to babies r us in tunbridge wells as their catalogue looked good. DH want sot find out sex from scan in may, i was in 2 monds now i think maybe and then after that go shopping and find the relavant coliurs - maybe.

Kicks are well and truly here. Baby was going mad yesterday evening after my dinner, very reassuring was going to buy doppler but don't think will bother now as seems quite active.

My midwife has moved away , i have no luck with midwives round here. My 2nd DH i saw about 5 pre delivery and another 3 post delivey at home, so wasn't impressed when got letter about her moving to another town. Spoke to her today and the new one has my details as i am 16 weeks next week need to make appointment. The surgery just has thurs afternoon, very inflexabile and i work on thurs so didn't want to take time off as only part time, i know i am entitled to it but feel should be able to have appointment around days off. So new one is hopefully going to do home visit next week.

Welcome to new ones, congrats , you will be joing in with the goss before you know it. Its such a nerve racking time but even now 15 weeks later i am still knicker checking!!! and actually brought 3 grapefuits to eat so being true to the original thread. That seems ages ago i was on it.

anyway gotta go do some house work unfortunaley. Have hidden easter eggs which are ear marked for specific people and luckily i have a surplus so i may indulge. Just starting to eat a bit more food after not being able to face anything for weeks and weeks so haven't put on much weight, therefore i can justify pigging out on easter eggs!

Sorry for long post but haven't written for ages , you can all wake up now!!!

Broodzilla · 27/03/2009 13:10

Hi Ladies,

Please can I come and join you? I've been lurking for a bit but mostly hanging around over in the GFJ/conception thread... finally decided to take the plunge as I had a scan yesterday and saw the bean

Heebychick · 27/03/2009 15:15

Hey welcome broodzilla!!! lovely to have you hear with us, fancy sharing the last bit of easter egg with me??

Well my DD has been asleep now for over 3 hours, she 'squeaks' every now and then but she was so tired when she went down for a nap that i'm not surprised she's still soundo now, i have got lots done, and about to attempt a dessert for tonight (making not eating!)

funtime i'm pleased you are feeling strong symptoms too, does this feel different already to the last time? i agree about trying to see an epac if you can, just to put your mind at rest. It must be hard being so far away from anywhere tho.

spats OH MY GOSH ... how many eggs??? i feel better now having only stolen one! tee hee

xx

C1NDY · 27/03/2009 17:47

Hi All,

All is not well with me. Yes, I have had MC, well waiting for it to happen. Second MC... that's life I guess.

Was on hols went for an emergency scan.. was 12 weeks!! next week would have been my scan... apparently things were not good. Absolutely gutted... was my 40th birthday and had a week celebration holiday. Guess I am going to remember it forever now.

Going to take 3 months out and sort myself out. But have decided not to come on the Mumsnet ... well for a while... I will read your messages but will only return when I get another BFP.

Absolutely gutted.

I wish you all the very best and thank you for being there for me.

Lots of love
Cindy
