Heebychick · 19/03/2009 13:14

Yes i hope so, i keep having boy days and girl days so i'm glad in a way i don't know!

I have to say nelix girls are soooo wonderful (as are boys obviously ) some of my friends have boys and they all talk a lot less than my DD, i don't mean as in she's advanced just that i think girls 'brain dump' constantly more than boys! they chatter about everything that is going on their little heads. My friends say that their boys talk well but pick thier moments, where as my DD just chatters away constantly!! which is so lovely! 2 is a great age huh.

smileycat · 19/03/2009 14:21

Its my DH's 40th on Sunday & I've been running around everywhere trying to get him something to open on the day....men they are sooo hard to buy for. I'm now completely knackered, its amazing that even at this early stage the tireness just wipes you out. I've still got to go the supermarket later to get the bits in for the party on Sat
Think I need a great big bar of chocky to get me going again naughty but nice

Heebychick · 19/03/2009 14:51

Hey congrats to Mr smiley hope you have a lovely day! I'm handing over a very large bar of Galaxy - i need one too asi've just had a horrid conversation about job roles for whilst i am off, it has made me feel quite nervous.

My DH is 40 in June and i will be doing the same thing (but at the other end of the pg spectrum!) i am organising a surprise party and a we have all clubbed together to buy him a very special present so am really excited about it!

What did you buy in the end??

nelix2000 · 20/03/2009 12:46

heeby my DS is a total blether lol even before he talked he "talked" ALL the time. Maybe thats a downside to be raised by 2 women. But yes, 2 is a great age he is fabulous and ever so delightful-in amongst throwing himself screaming around the shops becuase he did not get to go in the bob the builder ride-lol!

Thanks for the chocky bar Heeby it really hit the spot

I got him a road bike as his main present, but had it delivered to his brothers back in UK as he goes on a course in April for 7 wks in Pompy & bought him some new clothes to open on the day, a bit pratical but the bike cost me enough & he needs new clothes. I've booked us in for a 3 course Sunday dinner on Sunday as thats his b/day & also mothers day, so I can be spoilt at the same time
I've been cooking 3 great big pans of chilli con carne today for the food tomorrow, I'm stick of the stuff now I just hope I can face eating some tomorrow.
Hope you are all in for a great weekend...whats everyone up to, your ds's dd's spoiling you on Sunday

spats · 20/03/2009 18:24

I have told everyone at work now as my boss was planning on getting new tests into the lab aug/sept time so i had to tell. So now everyone knows. What i am getting annoyed about is that coz i have 2 boys everyone assumes i want a girl,i do actually like the idea of 3 boys so keep having to say well actually no. However if a girl arrives i will be happy as i will if its a boy, it just annoys me people assume it. I keep wanting to say whats wrong with boys!!

Mothers day - my DH said would take us out for lunch but i still cannot face food really so think its a no go!! went to harvester yesterday and coul eat the salad bar but you have to buy a main course so had a burger but couldn't eat it. Sat looking a tit for 15 mins!! in end DS had it as well as his steak!! I am now thinking will i ever be able to eat food again properly?

Have good weekend everyone, tommorrow is meant to be lovely sunny and warm - good weather for getting the washing dry - how sad is that!! x

nelix2000 · 21/03/2009 13:43

For mothers day we are having a big roast dinner, prob last one until winter!....not doing to much else...I did get 2 presents tho, one from the bump!!!

We are looking at removal firms and were quoted £180 for removal of all our large things, white goods, beds etc...think we will do that as I can certainly pack and lift clothes and books etc easily enough into our two cars and feel like I am contributing whilst leaving all the heavy stuff to burly scottish men lol!!

Heebychick · 22/03/2009 21:25

smiley that is spooky as i have also bought DH a bike!!! he is really into it (we have 13 bikes in our garage - only 2 are mine and 1 for DD) and this one he has loved for months, i got it as a surprise and his friend has stashed it away in his spare room till June! Spooky huh.

I hope you all had a lovely day and managed to relax a bit, we had a nice day and DD had some daddy time this morning so i could relax and chill out a bit as home, which was nice and then we went out for lunch with my mum and grandmother. So lots of family time and lots of fun

and too much cake

xx

funtimewincies · 23/03/2009 18:46

Am I allowed to come and sit quietly in the corner for a bit?

I got a BFP at the weekend and have decided to be positive and behave as though this bean will hang about and it would be nice to have familiar people during the next few weeks.

I'll behave, I promise .

nelix2000 · 24/03/2009 08:37

CONGRATS Funtime and welcome!!!

funtimewincies · 24/03/2009 09:12

Thanks nelix, I was beginning to wonder whether I'd get another one before you popped !

Heebychick · 24/03/2009 09:42

HURRAH!!!! BRILLIANT NEWS FUNTIME and yes treat this one as a new pg totally, i didn't relax until i took that decision and felt sooo much better once i did. After all i strongly believe in the power of positive thinking.

So how many weeks?

stay and breathe in the postive vibes this thread has at the moment.

xxx

funtimewincies · 24/03/2009 09:45

Only found at the weekend, so in 5th week, but have made the decision not to hang around in limbo waiting to mc. I'm hoping that some sticky-bean type vibes will somehow magically waft this way!

iggypiggy · 24/03/2009 10:09

Hello all

so pleased you are over here funtime

I went to my totally useless GP surgery yesterday for booking appointment with Nurse Practitioner she had the following wisdom for me:

Nurse:"do you know about exercise during PG"?
Me: "I think so - but wanted to check with you, am doing Boxfit tweice a week and horseriding twice a week"
Nurse: "um, actually i don't know - I'll have to ask my colleague - I don't know much about being PG"

Evenutally she comes back and tells me not to do sit ups... so i say - i thought that was after 12 weeks? and she says - is best not to risk it - and anyway they can't have done any research in this area cos it would be dangerous to do research on PG women....

um thanks..... really useful advice....

Anyway - on the up side - i have my early scan next mon - will be 7 + 4 by then

nelix2000 · 24/03/2009 10:23

Great attitude funtime sending very sticky vibes in your direction!!!!...LOL I pop 9 weeks max and beleive me I am SOOOOO ready!!!

OP posts:
Heebychick · 24/03/2009 11:51

nelix ha ha i remember that feeling and will be the same i am sure, i feel great at the moment but it will pass quickly i just know it. good luck with the move by the way!

iggy useless beggars huh, i would just keep doing what you are doing and be careful - maybe not the horseriding in case you fall but you know your body and you know when not to push yourself. My friend saw a lady doing boxercise this week and she was 8 months pg!

funtime lots of sticky vibes from here too ....this is your month honey xx

iggypiggy · 24/03/2009 12:13

heeby is bit hard not to horseride as I have my own horse which makes everything tricky as would need to make arrangements for someone else to ride him and therefore tell all at stables... have stoppped jumping him for now, but have terrible guilt about carrying on...

queenie1 · 24/03/2009 12:32

Hi all - just wanted to say that I had a scan yesterday and saw a heartbeat so beginning to believe that I am pregnant and to believe / hope that this one might just stick...It's smaller than my dates would suggest but exactly what I thought given when I had my LH surge on my OPK stick. So...officially 6 weeks and 3 days!!

funtime - just to say hello and congratulations again to you. so glad to hear you are being positive about this one. The doctor I spoke to after my scan yesterday said there's no evidence that behavious increases the risk of miscarriage at all EXCEPT that increased anxiety can have negative effects. So try not to stress and believe this will happen (easier said than done, I know...!)

iggy - I've read that horseriding isn't recommended but have a good look into it. If you have your own horse, I guess you ride a lot and I think the advice, generally, is don't take up anything NEW...sorry I can't be more help

Pezzina · 24/03/2009 13:04

Hi everyone,

Queenie ? great news on the scan, sweetie

Funtime ? congratulations on your BFP!! That is great news. I think you have a wonderful attitude ? positive thinking is definitely the way to go.

Iggy ? What a useless nurse! I bet you had to bite your tongue a few times ? although having said that I didn?t know about not doing sit-ups after 12 weeks?!

Nothing much to report from me. I am coming up to 17 wks and have my next appointment with the midwife on Friday. I have a definite bump now and everyone at work knows, which is nice. I don?t have to disguise the fact any more ? phew! Sickness pretty much gone and even my skin has clear days ? though not every day! My DH and I listened to baby?s heartbeat this morning with the doppler. We both noticed how strong it sounded ? which was wonderful. I also found it straight away ? loud and clear.

iggypiggy · 24/03/2009 13:48

queenie thanks - to be honest I've looked into it and the problem is really if you fall off - which is obviously totally unpredicatable! I'm trying to minimise risks of falling off - but think will stop riding as soon as I can tell people - will swim instead

Also excellent news about your scan - am so both excited and worried about mine next week.

Pezzina I spoke to my Boxfit instructor and he said that you should avoid stuff lying on your back eg. sit ups - after first trimester.. to be honest - i think I need to speak to a doctor and get some proper medical advice!

Must be lovely to hear heartbeat like that

SparkyMalarky · 24/03/2009 14:32

FUNTIME.....have been lurking and not having any time to post but have to come and say congratulations Lots of us know how you feel - Will you try and get an early scan to try and ease your anxiety for oooh, about 10 mins? am sending the stickiest of sticky vibes your way

Have been keeping up with others' news and its lovely to see so many GFJ drinkers here! It seems a looonggg time ago since we started that thread!

Not much news from me - am 33 weeks in a couple of days and feel completely unprepared (baby's room looks like ikea has exploded in it - flat pack boxes everywhere, nothing actually built.....) Think baby has moved round today having been head down for a week, as movements feel lower again....and have only just agreed to a VBAC. Although am now starting to wonder if an elcs might be an easier option anyway (Heeby have you had any doubts?)

Nelix - when are you actually moving?

Heebychick · 24/03/2009 15:02

sparky so nice to hear from you honey, it's been a while! wow 33 weeks! crikey, that has flown by. Are you still working?

As for a VBAC, i was all for the ELCS but having spoken to the consultant recently i have changed my mind, but having said that i am still doubting the whole thing, especially as i grow it is making me think how difficult birth will be and if an elcs would be a better way to organise us all? But wrong reasons for doing it i suppose. It's so hard to decide and my DH strongly wants me to have a elcs (i think he is worried about the danger i'd be in if the scar went etc) but in the main i feel i want to go for the vbac, the motivation of being able to get up afterwards and have a quicker recovery escpecially for that crucial couple of days where my DD meets her new baby brother/sister, i really want to be fully functional for that.

tough one - why are you doubting it now hun?

funtimewincies · 24/03/2009 19:02

It's lovely to see (virtually speaking ) so many old faces .

Really trying to stay positive, but the periody cramps have started and I'm having a minor panic already . Queenie - your scan doctor is spot on, in fact the guidelines from the Royal College of Obs. and Gynae. point to a slightly lower mc rate in women with recurrent mc where they have easy access to EPAU services. Unfortunately, you have to be mc'ing to see them here and I'm not entitled to a scan before 12 weeks. Nowhere local does private scans and it would involve a major trip to get one done.

Anyway, sorry to be glum. I can't believe that so many of you are so far into your pgs .

Iggy - why was someone who, by their own admission, knows nothing about pregnancy doing your booking-in? How annoying . At least we get to see a midwife from the word go here (no GP involved anywhere) even if they're crap about scans.

Good luck with the move Nelix!

nelix2000 · 25/03/2009 08:35

hello everyone

sparky we get the keys this friday DP will be painting it next week and we move a week on friday. At least thats when the movers are booked for so my bed won't be here anymore so I will just follow it!!!

Off to see the blasted physio again today. Feel just the same if not worse. Belt makes its awful to drive or bend over. I think its meant to make you bend from the knees BUT really...a 31 week pregnant woman trying to get back UP from that position is not easy!!! plus its 3 layers of elsastic and velcro under my bump so I need to wear it when I drive places if I am doing any walking the other end as I can hardly whip down my jeans in tesco car park to put it on!!!.....so will see what they say. Think I will end up grinning and bearing SPD until I am done.

funtimeI STILL have period pains every other day honey, please don't let it dampen your vibe!..Your bean is just making his or herself known, though my DS never caused me these pains just a girl lol!!!....and soon it will be you who is so far along

OP posts:
Heebychick · 25/03/2009 09:40

Hi all,

funtime please don't be blue, i also had pains for ages and still get a few now at certain times of the month, i've had a few bleeds too but all is well so it is nothing to be concerned about. Rubbish about your not being able to have an early scan tho, mind you if you are still worried in a few weeks it might be worth the day trip?
I'm not sure where you are but i know a few in Hampshire.

nelix SPD sounds awful honey, i really don't envy you, good luck today. let us know how you get on.

I woke up at 5am with raging toothache so am off to dentist later - lovely. Feel like i've had half a day up already, so am sure to be done in by lunchtime! and it means no swimming which is a pain as i'm using my lunch hour to go to the dentist.
