Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
thehouseofmirth · 26/10/2008 09:03

I would have kept DS up too but DS doesn't go to bed until 8-ish anyway and I was looking forward to DH & me eating a chinese takeaway alone!

herbgarden · 26/10/2008 09:35

MS...... I stupidly forwarded my clock when I went to bed (and the c.heating clock) and woke at what I thought was 6.35am marvelling at the fact that ds was still asleep and we had had a lovely lie in. Then realised it was actually 4.35am new time - dh was snoring so I went to the spare room. Ds then woke at 5am new time. I ignored and shusshed through monitor for about an hour and I think he went off. Then he woke up properly - started yelling and wouldn't give up. Supposed to be my lie in morning and dh is too mean to go and get ds at a time when I realise he's had enough. I got him in a huff. I then heard DH shut our bedroom door presumably he was hoping to go back to sleep and have a lie in - God I blew my top (followed by tears and screaming .....I have marginally calmed down.

It's raining here today but at least we're going off to have lunch with family so p'raps we might be speaking to each other by the time we get there.

onwardandoutward · 26/10/2008 10:00

woke up at about 830 new time and had a lovely snuggly lie in till about 9. THis is the one weekend a year when I relish the way our sleeping slips later and later

thehouseofmirth · 26/10/2008 10:14

Herbgarden I've long given up attempting to have a lie in as DH is apalling in the mornings and it just invoved me entertaining DS until 7.30am which was the earliest DH was prepared to get up, regardless of what time DS had actually woken up and DH being in a bad mod all day because the poor man apparently hadn't had enough sleep(bless!) Made me boil with rage. Of course now DS is three he sleeps so much better than he did as a baby so I don't actually "need" a lie in to catch up on missed sleep but goodness know how I'll feel come February!

mumoverseas · 26/10/2008 10:24

what is a lie in? Think I last had one of those around 15 years ago!
Finally managed to get to the shops today after our nightmare trip on Wednesday. DC2 (DD1 aged 12) flew out last night from her UK boarding school for half term so we left DD2 at nursery this morning and went on the shopping bus and finally bought something for DC4! At least the poor little thing will have something blue now!
Hope you all have a nice sunday.

mrsy · 26/10/2008 10:41

Was up at about 9am new time as John's working today - we had a really good time last night, and got home at about midnight, after a lot of too-ing and fro-ing about how long to stay and wether John should play or not (musically-speaking, the music was interesting!)

Am now watching Strictly while doing washing and other housework, then will bake some bread, and then take my Gran out to tea. Then will make spag bol for John - today seems to be about making people (and myself) happy!

mslucy · 26/10/2008 12:23

DS woke at 6am - 5am new time - so I got into the bottom bunk bed to keep him company.

He stayed in the top bunk for a bit then joined me, which was a mixed blessing to say the least as he is very, very wriggly (as is his brother-to-be)

I endured this for about an hour then let him go next door to watch telly/pester dh, who has the uncanny ability of being able to sleep through milkshake/cbeebies/shouting/wriggling.

I was woken up at 9am new time - don't think I've slept in as long for years.

Off to Halloween party which will be MENTAL. DS going as spiderman, which basically involves stuffing him into a pair of skin tight spiderman pajamas that make him look like a miniature wrestler - DS is built like a brick s**thouse and has biceps at the age of 3!

laidbackinengland · 26/10/2008 14:29

Hi. DS 1 and 2 are away this weekend so no idea what time they woke up ! DS3 woke up at 7.30 new time so seems to be playing ball with things ! (jinxes self for ridiculously early waking tomorrow). Got back last night from a lovely wedding. Twas the grooms 2nd marriage, so nicely informal and relaxed. No wedding cake though and I'd been looking forwards to a slice all week !

I think my DS3 is going to have a foot and/or stocking fetish. I wore a dress from Monsoon and had some fishnet style tights underneath - as soon as I had them on - DS3 was fascinated and licked my big toe . Ooer ! I had a man with a foot fetish in therapy once and it was a very interesting experience ( he not very subtly lusted after my feet during our sessions) and as it was summer I didn't feel like I should have to cover my feet completely grimness !

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Roast beef here in the laidback household tonight, might even conjour up a fruitcake now I have read PT's cake recipe and missed out at the wedding, I'm all hungry for cake.

TinkerBellesMum · 26/10/2008 14:49

1am/2am (whichever way you look at it) Spotty [hgreen]

TinkerBellesMum · 26/10/2008 14:50

what planet am I on?

MarkStretch · 26/10/2008 15:53

Roast pork with all the trimmings here, followed by left over carrot cake and frosting.

I made the mistake of watching a repeat of 'How Clean Is Your House' earlier and then flew into a frenzy and scrubbed the window ledges in our bedroom which were filthy and had been annoying me for ages. Then I hoovered the house, shook out the rug, changed the beds and cleaned the kitchen.

Now I am cooking

Working tomorrow and then got the rest of the week off yay!

Am doing fun things with DD, and going out for a meal with people from work and going to a pamper evening with a friend. DD is not happy about me going as it means I'm not here at bedtime but I need the ME time.

spottyshoes · 26/10/2008 18:44

Laidback at DS3 with the foot fetish!! Our DS sneaks up and nibbles peoples big toes - makes me jump out of my skin whilst I am distracted with MN cleaning etc!

TinkBM [Shock] Why so early? Is she still checking that you're there?

herbgarden · 26/10/2008 19:54

THOM you have made me feel sooo much better about DH - we finally broke the ice in the car (hee hee he can't get away) and I had a good cry (again )

Nice day out - DS has three boy cousins and they're all about 2 years apart so he loves seeing them and they're just cute (and noisy !) together. I didn't have to cook and my mum had a lovely time (it's her birthday) - so a success.. now I'm hungry and want a fish finger sarnie but we're out of fish fingers, so thought an omelette might be nice but DH just informed me he ate the last two on Wednesday...(can you tell he's in the doghouse at the mo !....Looks like I might be on the cheerios.

Crossing fingers for a non-5am wake up in the morning otherwise I CAN'T COPE !!!

If anyone has any roastie dinner leftovers chuck them this way will you !

dinkystinky · 26/10/2008 20:07

Hello all - was awake at 5.45am new time here (due to full bladder, not DS who slithered out of his cot onto the floor around 6 am bu kept nice and quiet until 6.40am and then decided he wanted to spend the next hour snuggling in our bed with us reading books). Had a nice weekend - DH let me have a lie in yesterday (had been up in night with leg cramps as forgot to take my mag phos doses on Friday) and baked pear and ginger muffins which we had with our neighbours when they came over for morning coffee and made lovely keema curry (my mum's recipe) for dinner last night which we ate watching The Golden Compass (is it wrong that Daniel Craig as Bond does nothing for me, but as Lord Asriel makes me go weak at the knees? And I dont even like beards!!) then today took DS to a childrens dance show at Sadlers Wells (he LOVED it), did pregnancy yoga and then had personal trainer in the late afternoon (so lots of me time today, nice change to the past couple of weeks). DH now making dinner while I surf the net. Only downside to the weekend has been DS being an absolute bugger with his food - I know I need to rise above it all and not get frustrated by it, but is still so hard to see him play silly buggers with food I've lovingly made for him (unlike Markstretch and the rest of you, I am most definitely not a domestic goddess so I have to force myself to cook).

Sorry for those of you with v early starts to the day (TBM - hope you caught up on your sleep during the day; baby outfit sounds lovely). Will now try and catch up on everyone's news from yesterday.

Also keeping everything crossed for a non 5am start (for me and anyone else who has had to endure this).
Sleep deprivation is sending me mildly mental.

dinkystinky · 26/10/2008 20:15

Herbgarden - just saw your earlier post re your DH. Am on your behalf at your DH but glad you've made it up with him - albeit temporarily (why oh why can men not just TELL you when they've used the last of stuff so you can get more in when you next do the shop - last time DH did it, I ended up trying to make a white sauce with self raising flour because he'd used up all the flour!! Needless to say, was not a success). Fingers crossed he'll pull his finger out when no 2 arrives (maybe double the noise will penetrate his sleep bubble).

rosieposey · 26/10/2008 20:58

Absoutely knackered!!! Took 4 hours to drive into London then 3 hours back, god knows what was going on today but traffic was ATROCIOUS! two accidents on M4 Still DD2 had lovely time and i got some semblance of a lay in compared to the time it sounds like some of you were up. Sod it im off to bed in a mo!

thehouseofmirth · 26/10/2008 21:25

Glad to be of help Herbgarden!

Apart from a fab confit de canard and banana & chocolate crepe lunch in Cafe Rouge, today has been such hard work!

The stress of assembling DS's bed seemed to get to all of us and DH, DS and I have all taken it in turns to be shouty, teary & generally emotional. And despite being thoroughly delighted by his new bed DS is still, as ever, curled up asleep in mine!

thehouseofmirth · 26/10/2008 22:05

Can any of you with a smattering of German possibly kindly translate the salient points of this eBay offering for me? I'm guessing it's a small but am wondering about condition and also if it's got any arm holes as Mamaponchos come in 2 types.

mumoverseas · 27/10/2008 06:06

sorry THOM, my german now appears to be limited to 'ein beer bitte' and 'ein gross beer bitte'. This is slightly worrying as a while ago I was tidying up in my UK house and found some old school papers which seemed to show I'd passed CSE german! Don't remember that one! My DD has just started doing German at school and is out for a visit so I'll ask her when she gets up!
Happy Monday everyone!

spottyshoes · 27/10/2008 07:32

Urrgh. 4.45 this morning! Why did he not adjust already!!

I apparently used to do well in school German but cant remember any now! I thought it said about keeping mum and baby/bump warm, perfect for winter and the quality of the material etc etc. Doesn't look like it has arm holes though. I'm probably way out though - google the language translator where you can cut and paste the text and it gives you a rough translation (some are really funny!) Can't remember the name.

Back to work today so no MN surfing for me for the next few days

thehouseofmirth · 27/10/2008 07:49

Yesah, 5.40am here which admittedly is not quite as bad but is still the middle f th night as far as I'm concened.

Thanks Spottyshoes!

Cocodrillo · 27/10/2008 08:22

THOM if you can wait till this evening i can ask DH who has A level German.

We were up at 5.30am. I'm sure the blardy cat woke DD2 up by scratching at her door, so I'm very annoyed with the fleabag.

dinkystinky · 27/10/2008 08:44

I was told that babies/small toddlers adjust each day by 15 minutes to the time change - so hopefully will be 5 am for you tomorrow Spotty (assuming DS is adjusting in the right direction) and 6 for you with any luck THOM. Will keep my fingers crossed for civilised starts for you tomorrow! We've taken the side off DS's cot (prelude to moving him to bed) - he has managed to figure out getting out of the cot in the early morning but not out of his room yet (is pitch black in there) so am keeping my fingers crossed that lasts for a while.

Bloody pregnancy hormones - I just burst out crying at my son's nanny because he refused to eat half his breakfast (which is a very common occurrence in the Dinky household and not normally the cause of rending of garments and gnashing of teeth). Poor girl must think am insane!

OP posts:
mslucy · 27/10/2008 10:14

sleep deprivation is turning me into a monster
ds woke at 4:30.
I calmed him down then he was screaming again at 5:30.
I ended up screaming at him - I really lost it.
I feel so ashamed of myself, but he's been so difficult since he started school.
Fortunately dh calmed him (and me) down.
Am finding it very, very hard to have any positive feelings towards him at the moment - something I have never experienced before.
He won't sleep, he's rude, tells me he hates me, is awful to anyone I get to look after him, the list is endless.
Rationally I know it's because his life has changed a lot in the last few months, but it doesn't make dealing with him any better.
