Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dinkystinky · 27/10/2008 10:25

And I'll bet the pregnancy hormones, keeping you on the edge of tears, dont help any either MsLucy...

Am so sorry you're having a tough time with DS - he sounds like he has lots of lovely moments but its hard to remember that when they're being absolute terrors. Remember - its just a phase and it will pass (what I have to say to myself pretty much every meal time at present). Also, he's probably going through huge testosterone surges at the present (they do between 2 and 4 apparently) making his behaviour more volatile - so its not all you or the changes in his life causing this. Hold on in there - it will get better.

OP posts:
TinkerBellesMum · 27/10/2008 10:53

I wish I knew spotty! Was glad toleave her with my parents last night. She also insisted on sleeping with my nipple in her mouth, eventually I had to just ask for it back but then she lay flat on the bed (single bed) with her head under the pillows so I had to move them out the way and lie on my side. I didn't get much sleep at all! I'd just convinced her it wasn't getting up (or tea belly) time and my nephew shouted "Nanny!" so I had to get up and get in the double bed with my nephews and Tink so they'd stay there and watch a DVD to give Mum some more sleep.

laidbackinengland · 27/10/2008 11:04

Sorry you are struggling with DS Mslucy... change, school, babies etc all such hard work for these little boys .

DS1 and DS2 seem to have coped well with the time change. DS3 woke at 5.30 but just chatted and laughed to himself and then went back to sleep until 6.30. Half term is upon us here and so I am trying to be entertaining whilst having sinusitus. A kind of snot clown.

Questionkid · 27/10/2008 11:48

Morning all,

It's interesting reading about everyone's experiences with their LO's and the time change as DH and I were saying yesterday that it would be the last time in quite a while that we thought we would welcome the clocks going back. Next year I'm sure we'll look on it as a pain in the backside as it'll disrupt everything for us. Unfortunately our enjoyment of the extra hour was slightly ruined by my Dad ringing for a chat at some ungodly hour! I think he thinks that me being pregnant means that we've automatically gone into parent mode and are getting up at the crack of dawn. I had to gently explain that we were taking advantage of being able to lie in while we still can!

Although my sleep is already being disrupted by trips to the loo and also by really painful thighs - I get a dull ache that kind of spreads down my thighs to my knees. Hope it's not sciatica.

MS - going back a few threads, I say waxing is the only way to go as far as lady garden maintenance is concerned. I don't get embarrassed, I figure these ladies see much worse sights than mine. Plus it's over quick as a flash. I recommend it highly!

mslucy · 27/10/2008 11:50

thank you all for your kind words of support.

dinky, yes I think testosterone may be the culprit.

he is very large and incredibly strong - he looks like he's been working out!

I think his physical development far exceeds his emotional development - he's as big as a lot of 4/5 year olds and very RAH! which makes you forget he's really quite little underneath it all.

herbgarden · 27/10/2008 12:06

Aw Mslucy I'm sure your ds loves you to bits. They are testing these little boys - mine is still only 2 and a bit - and I hate to say it but he is testing at the best of times - but I know a lot of 4/5/6/7 year old boys who reduce their mummy's to tears - regularly - hang on in there.

We had a 5am start - again- I think I need to spend a week at home with him with no sleep in the day to crack the habit - or send him to his grannys - that usually works. He did however stay in his cot (well he can't get out) but I mean quiet and not screaming after I yelled at him through the monitor (I never have it on - it's there to turn on when he wakes us at 5am!!) and he did then proudly tell me at 6.30am when I went to get him that "I a good boy and no crying in cot" - and even then he only started yelling because "I got a snotty nose " - charming.

At work today - feeling very tired but luckily am busy - have an urge for a doughnut.

mrsy · 27/10/2008 12:22

Hello all - commiserations for those of you experiencing early mornings etc.

mslucy - it's so hard when they look older than they are, 'cos you expect them to behave older as well. I second the others that it's just a phase - make sure you have time to yourself, and also fun time with him, and things will settle down soon, I'm sure.

Questionkid - sciatica usually starts in your bum and shoots down into your legs, but I don't think it's a dull ache, I think it's more a sharp pain. You often get pins and needles (especially in sleep) and also muscle weekness and cramps. Definately worth getting checked out though.

MarkStrecth - as to the lady garden thing, you can be knickers off or knickers on - there's a infamous lady who waxes in Tunbidge Wells, and does my sister and a few of my friends. She's Russian and used to be a nurse and is hillarious. She gets the girls to do 'waxing yoga' - she's very thorough! - and told my sister she was 'average hairy'!

mumoverseas · 27/10/2008 13:21

maybe we should look at the sleep deprivation as practice for February?
I know its Monday, but I'm cooking a roast! Have been meaning to do one for ages but never know whether I should stick to Sundays or Fridays (our Sunday!) The compound shop actually had really nice beef this morning so that was the deciding factor. Seem to have gone off curry although I did like the look of that spicy soup that was on here a few days back but trouble is out here you can't get half the ingredients you need.
Hope all ok and meant to ask TBM, all ok with you now?

chilledmama · 27/10/2008 13:30

Talking of Lady Gardens...I used to get a partial brazilian but haven't been able to get anywhere recently to have it done. I was in the pool with DS on Saturday and really glad of my bump!!!Distracts everyone from looking elsewhere!!!
My friend always said (and I agree), hairy bits only exist if you can see them!!!

Hello All

Haven't really posted much but am still here lurking occasionally. Pregnancy & a toddler is way tougher than pregnancy & working!!

TinkerBellesMum · 27/10/2008 16:34

herb, girl's do it too! Mum asked me to put Tink in the car yesterday and she was pushing me away screaming "I don't want Claire!" It's heartbreaking at the time but you come to realise that they don't even know what they're saying let alone mean it.

mumoverseas, I'm still having contractions but nothing else is happening. I looked up the test that they did on me, it's a swab like having a smear that tells them if there's a chance of early labour. Apparently a positive result means the baby will be born within 2 weeks! There is a hormone that acts as a glue and when it's tested positive for in the second trimester it means it's starting to break down and gives anytime in the next 2-3 weeks. [BIG GULP]

chilledmama I love that saying!

dinkystinky · 27/10/2008 16:41

God its quiet on here today - people must be catching up on missed sleep/enjoying half term with little ones.

ImagineWNH - I dont envy you have to deal with toddler 24/7 while pregnant. Much as I love DS, am quite glad its our nanny doing the dealing with food refusal and tidying up after unsuccessful mealtimes for 2/3 of the day - not sure my sanity and pregnancy hormones would be able to stand it, so take my hat off to you and THOM and all other pregnant stay at home mums who never get a break...

I have been in the park ALL day - not one but TWO play groups from 10am to about 4pm with playground, lunch and running around in between. Only recently got home, knackered. Can only do lurking...

spottyshoes · 27/10/2008 17:49

Gotta be quick I only have 5 mins of Lazy Town left!!!

I too have been to the park all afternoon so can understand your need to lurk swampy! M'thinks it would have been more restful at work!!

I think I missed your earlier bit about that test TinkBM - did it come back positive? Hope Tink the 1st sleeps well for you tonight - bet you've been shattered today!

eejaykay · 27/10/2008 17:57

Hello all

Er - there's probably a really obvious thing you need to do to join in the Feb 09 club but I can't work it out.

Can I join, can I, can I?

I feel in light of recent posts I have to confess to not having children yet, therefore spending most mornings lazing about til I really have to get up for work, and I haven't baked a cake in my life . I'm quite nifty at decorating though, just so you know I'm not completely domestically useless. I'm due 24th Feb and live in east London.

mrsy · 27/10/2008 17:58

Evening all - hope we all had a good Monday. Am currently cooking a ham and leek maccaronni cheese, and it smells soooooooo good! Don't think I can wait till John gets home 1

Then bake me a cake and send it on over

herbgarden · 27/10/2008 18:12

Had to collect ds from nursery this afternoon - he's had man flu all weekend and is pretty miserable - nursery phone to say he's got a temp and is going downhill - of course I hot foot it over there (it's only 5 mins walk away from work) and he hops over full of beans .....

So,we're on the sofa still watching teletubbies having (both of us!) eaten ice cream. He's eaten nothing all day apparently so I've managed that, a bit of banana and some bread and butter. Poor thing looks a wee bit sorry for himself !!!....

Wish I could be brave and go get a bikini wax as I'm seriously in need. Last one I had was about 4 months after I had ds and I swore I'd never have another. I don't think it was because of cs as they avoided that area but just can't pluck up courage again !

onwardandoutward · 27/10/2008 18:17

Oh I can't wax anywhere shudders in horror I just get an awful rash for weeks. Mmmm. Attractive. Neatly strimmed is the way forwards. Or it would be, if I had a hope in hell of reaching anything in need of strimming. What the eye doesn't see, eh?
