spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 08:14

Sorry - Good Morning all. Happy half term to everyone. Hope we all have a lovely day!

MarkStretch · 25/10/2008 08:28

I hear you Spotty!

Even though I am having a ds, lots of people said things like that to me.

'Oh you'll be wanting a boy then...'

'Oh you must want one of each...'

Er, actually I'm not BOVVERED!

I had a rant in Pregnancy last night about the fact I am now a social outcast as I am pregnant, fuelled by the fact my team at work have been out for drinks every Friday recently without me and when I asked someone said 'Oh well we didn't think you'd want to because you're pregnant!'.

So now people make decisions for me as well.

thehouseofmirth · 25/10/2008 08:32

Spotty my theory is that they only say that because they are jealous that mums of boys will never have to go through the horror of having a teenage girl in your house!

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 09:07

Or pay for weddings HOM

Thats crap MS! Do you not have a brain when pregnant? Can people only go out if they're going to get plastered these days? If so my T-total Aunt must be house-bound

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 09:11

Disclaimer: After reading my previous post I would like to clarify that despite being pro-boys, should this baby be a girl I will of course be equally happy!

MarkStretch · 25/10/2008 09:28

Bunch of bastards. I don't want to go out with them anyway. [huff]

mumoverseas · 25/10/2008 10:13

oh spotty, sorry you are having a bad time. I do understand how you feel. Although I have two DC's, one of each from first marriage, DH and I have a DD and of course, everyone is saying we should have a boy so he has a son (to carry on name etc) and we have one of each. In fact DH desperately wanted another girl! His theory was he loves our DD so much he wanted another one just like her (even though I said short of cloning her this one would be different!) Anyway, we found out this one is a BOY and although initially he was a little disappointed he is now over the moon. We haven't told anyone else apart from my best friend and everyone else is constantly asking what we are having/want and all keep saying we must hope its a boy!
I've got pregnancy rage too, just really shouted at our houseboy (indian cleaner) who did the total opposite to what I asked him to do (quite common!) and whilst I normally just ignore him and juse quiety seethe I went mad! stormed off and phoned my husband to phone him and told him to go home and then DH phoned back and said he was crying and asked what I'd done to him! Felt really guilty then so had to go back downstairs and apologize and he was still crying! think he thought we'd sack him and he'd get deported. Feel such a cow now!

mrsy · 25/10/2008 10:28

Morning all

oooh - mumoverseas - you meany... don't mean to make you jealous, but I had THE BEST TIME at Bluewater last night - tried on almost every pair of maternity jeans in the place and I've fallen in love with Blooming Marvelous - their jeans are to die for. I'm comfy, and look pretty decent too .

spotty - fark 'em (as MS would say). when my mum was carrying me the scany-person wouldn't tell her I was a girl in case she aborted me as she already had a girl (she was 39, and chuffed to bits to be pg at all - she was thrilled to bits to be having another girl!

So - how are people Saturday-ing then?

mumoverseas · 25/10/2008 11:03

mrsy you are the meany for taunting me about Bluewater! can't even bloody go shopping here now as no sodding car! can't wait to get to blooming marvelous, think a lovely dress someone mentioned on here a few days ago was from there. Think that will be my first day trip out as soon as back from land of sand.
Can't believe anyone would want to abort a baby if it was 'the wrong flavour' that is so evil but I guess it does happen, especially out here. One particularly stupid Saudi in my husband's office was really devestated at work a few days ago and all his friends were offering him sympathy. My DH thought someone had died but no, his wife had given birth to their 3rd girl! twats!

MarkStretch · 25/10/2008 11:22

That's it. I am giving up on lady gardening. I can no longer see my pubes and I am going to do myself a michief. I am going to grow a massive muff, proudly.

And if DH complains- he can shave it.

BloodRedTulips · 25/10/2008 11:23

ok, read the first 200 messages since my last post and gave up so apologies if someone has said something monumental in the second half of this page

nothing much to report here, still freezing to death with no heating, been trying to get tonnes of driving practice in as i have my GTT next week at the hospital an hour away and have no way to get there other than to drive myself

am still not talking to dp after his 'help' yesterday, drove 15 miles to one town and back with my friend in the afternoon with no problems along narrow country roads, but he made me so uncomfortable when he came with me into the closer town which is only 5 miles away that i was in tears walking around the shop, and then after getting along a busy road to the co-op for coal, parking, reversing and turning to get the coal he huffed and glared so much as i wasn't willing to nip out in front of cars but insisted on waiting for a clear road that i stalled the car, which of course made me so nervous i kept stalling it

spotty, it's awful when people presume isn't it? i'd love another boy but as far as i'm concerned i got pregnant to have a baby not to have a boy or a girl. girls can be great to (although if someone feels like reminding dd about that i'd be very grateful ) and boys are buckets of fun but at the end of the day you get what your given and you love them to death no matter the flavour.

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 11:27

Oh that poor boy! He wont ever want to work for pregnant women again . Not long now until you can shop till you drop!

Mrsy - breakfast , nice jeans

I am Saturday-ing by baking. Anyone know any good recipes with figs or ginger in? I majorly over-ordered both and dont know what to make

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 11:31

Good attitude BRT - may have to quote that to any fuckwit person who comments from now on.

Ooooo you do make me larf MS!!

I am contemplating the same

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 11:33

Sorry BRT I forgot to add the Grrrrrr at your DH!

DS is distracting me and about to pull a mirror on himself!

Nap Time!

mrsy · 25/10/2008 11:45

spotty -

  1. baked figs with giner ice-cream
  2. figs on toast, with honey (great brekkie)
  3. figs with parma ham
  4. steamed ginger pudding/cake

my fave:

Peel a pineapple and cut into fat slices. Cut slits into each piece of pineapple and stick a ginger matchstick in each.

In a large frying pan, melt butter add ginger a vanilla pod. Add the pineapple, cook on a low heat until the pineapple is soft.

Add ginger wine if you like it...

mrsy · 25/10/2008 11:47

Just thought, I think the soup you are all excited about might not have been mine... I was the seseme flavour one...

MarkStretch · 25/10/2008 11:48

Oh it's going all foody again- hooray!

Today I want to make veggie pakoras and dip them in natural yoghurt.

Spotty- I mean it. It's bloody hard to beautify ones bikini line with a bump in the way!

BloodRedTulips · 25/10/2008 12:02

markstretch... squat and use both hands one to feel the stubble the other to follow with the razor.

i managed right up to the end with ds and he was a truely huge bump, tried 'going natural' for a while at one point but the itching drove me round the twist.

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 12:05

It was Mslucy's I think but I was at your pain au choc.

Mmmm steamed ginger cake! I like the pineapple idea. Have just found date and fig bread, fig crumble and fig bruschetta.

What to try 1st? I think I'll have my hot choc with squirty cream and then decide [fat bloater emoticon]

I know MS - not disputing it! I'm with you on that one! I fear Professional waxing is the only way - I wouldnt let my DH near it!!!

Please share your veggie pakora recipe

BloodRedTulips · 25/10/2008 12:09

you've made me hungry... may have to trundle off ans bake.

thinking of doing a date and orange loaf

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 12:17

No no NO! you're not allowed to do that!..... waltz in, drop a yum sounding food stuff into the convo and waltz off to make it...... I have dates....I have oranges....share the knowledge please

MarkStretch · 25/10/2008 12:21

Pink- you've put a lovely image in my mind! I've never had mine waxed, does it feel weird getting your fanjo out in front of some pretty manicured lady with glossy hair? They always look like that.

I have been going to the girl who waxes my eyebrows for so long now it would be too weird to suddenly whip my trousers off in front of her.

Squatting may be my only option.

Damn you all I'm going to have to make a cake now.....

spottyshoes · 25/10/2008 12:26

I, erm, pull my knickers over to one side, she whips it off then we do the same with the other so as not to over expose Not a hollywood kind of girl me

mumoverseas · 25/10/2008 12:29

MS, a word of warning if you decide to try another method of 'gardening'! I once did my bikini line with immac (or whatever its called now!) the morning before a long haul flight. well I was rushing around to get ready and left it on a bit too long and it sort of spread to other areas, if you see what I mean? Anyway, end result was I got chemical burns to certain rather intimate parts! STOP LAUGHING!
what was really embarrasing was when I got to LHW and went to the chemists to try to get some cream or something for it and the pharmasicst (a man!) was wetting himself laughing! I was flying to Bahrain to meet my DH (before we were married) for a romantic weekend and it ended up being not that romantic!

ref houseboy, feel really bad now but in my defence, I am nice to him 99% of the time and we often give him days off and last year we did pay for him to fly back to India and visit his family and gave him spending money. Hopefully he will forgive me by tomorrow!

BloodRedTulips · 25/10/2008 12:37

let me bake it first and see if it's nice, it's a recipe i haven't tried yet.

as soon as i can tear myself away from my pile of warm fluffy kittens wo are keeping me warm.... i think they're suffering too, they came into the bedroom looking for me last night and one slept on my head and the other dived under the covers with me.
