Dozy - thanks for suggestion, sadly not a wine drinker, only has pint of beer on a saturday as he is always on call so can not have a proper drink unless he books off which is not something that he likes doing!!

LadyBuzz · 24/10/2008 14:55

Lacks you will be half an hour from me on your birthday weekend if it is Whinfell Forest?
If so its really nice I have been there but book the Spa in advance or you might not get in (like that will be top of your priority list at the mo ).
Hope Pinkee is OK.

Rosa · 24/10/2008 14:59

DOzy - am an ex pat married to an Italian , our dd names are boring by Uk standards ( sorry) but we have a long surname and some of the Italian names that we wanted were just too long. We also wanted something that both sets of parents can pronounce easily without having problems - when we got married we had great fun with both vicars had to teach them how to say my name in Italy and then dh name in the Uk - had a wedding and a blessing!!
Had dd 1 and dd2 will be born here as dh really wanted them to be born in his homeland !

LackaDAISYcal · 24/10/2008 15:08

It is whinfell LadyBuzz.....we'll need to meet up...or I could use a babysitter so DH and I can have a romantic meal without the kids . I've been there before; many years pre DCs and again at my birthday and we were too late to book any treatments. My GFs and I did the spa experience and sat in the outside jacuzzi with the snow twinkling down around about us though; it was lovely. I'll make sure I get booked up well in advance this time!

dozy, I would love to be able to do that with wine, but it just wouldn't last any time at all in this house .

Have any previous CSection ladies had any pain/problems with their scar? My external scar is looking a bit livid and it's been stinging and sore. Never had this when pg with DD, but there were five years between pregnancies that time, not 16 months. It's worse if my jeans waist band falls below my bump.

My boys have gone for the weekend, DD is asleep and DH has finally done the kitchen floor. And I'm at a loss to what to do with myself!

LadyBuzz · 24/10/2008 15:23

Lacks we should def meet up!
I can't say I have really felt my scar much throught this pg and DS was 19 months when I fell pg BUT I have only had 1 CS. I have noticed the bit that touches at the bottom IYKWIM is looking very soreand almost bruised! Have no idea why and it doesn't hurt!

MummyNic · 24/10/2008 15:27

Afternoon all. Had a dreadful night, up 3 times. My Dad woke me up by ringing at 0945 - I'm normally up and dressed by that time but not today. Have been Christmas shopping (again) - I'd completely forgot to by BIL & Co's cards!! I felt quite guilty.

I'm panicking now as cyril will be here anytime from the sweep on Thursday and Wed 5th at the latest. Blooming Christmas, I normally love it but feel under pressure to buy, buy, buy as who knows if I'll be arsed to do any afterwards.

I'm so at the spa weekends. I'm trying to persaud DH to go to the cinema this weekend as it could be our last chance for a long time!

I'm planning on going out for a curry in the early part of next week too - I live life on the edge!!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/10/2008 15:29

It's worth it chocolategal. there was one code for 30% off but it had expired. I only thought of looking at the last minute and saved us £65 . DS will be beside himself with excitement when he finds out that's where we are going.

thanks LB . I'm sure it's just my jeans rubbing a bit as my size 14 maternity clothes are getting to be a bit of a tight fit; bigger jeans and joggy bums much more comfortable mow!

mummynic, I'm sure folks will understand about cards etc. Have decided to do all our shopping online this year and are only gicing to the kids; the adults can make do with a nice bottle of wine to share!

chocolategal · 24/10/2008 15:56

mummynic i have been trying to get organised for xmas too! but no doubt i will have forgotten something!

am hoping we will have forgiving relatives and friends this year if we are not quite as organised as usual!

chocolategal · 24/10/2008 15:57

meant to say thanks daisy, im hoping to go end of may, beg of june so no codes for then just yet, will keep my eyes peeled tho!

Yorky · 24/10/2008 16:01

Wine is a really good idea Lacka, Have just started planning my shopping list and we did photo calendars of DS last year (vistaprint) and several people have asked if we're doing them again this year - which means we can't get sorted till bump arrives, but at least they're easy to wrap!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/10/2008 16:05

I think we'll all be forgiven. My friend was due end November last year but had her DS on 12th December and most people appreciated that Christmas was off the cards.

We have the PILs coming over for lunch, but DH is on the case. We are going to get oven ready everything from M&S or Waitrose......now all we need is a fully functioning oven . Have lived with a combi microwave since February!!

WE got a voucher last year for a photo shoot and some digital prints which runs out at the end of November. We're going to get the kids done and dole those out for Christmas as well......just need DC3 to complete the picture!

Hi, just a quick me, me, me post to let you know about my eventful day. Went to my ante-natal check up at the hospital. Because of my fast labour last time I had a 'review for induction' in my notes. The doctor did an internal and said I was 2cm dilated and cervix very soft and had a bit of a show on examination so she sent me upstairs to be admitted. She wasn't very forth coming with the information so I was thinking I was in the early stages of labour. When I talked to the midwives though it turned out that she was sending me up to start inducing me. The midwives weren't very enthusiastic as I am only 38 weeks and I would really prefer to go naturally. I was put on a monitor for a while and then the doctor came in. He said he would advise against induction for now and I agreed so I was sent home and I have to go in again tomorrow for monitoring. So I could go into labour tonight or if not back to the hospital tomorrow. Not sure what the plan is if I haven't progressed tomorrow. Baby is fine and they reckon is aboout 7 and a half lbs. I am excited and a bit nervous now.

Hope everyone is well.

Hope baby boy Merry is doing better.

LackaDAISYcal · 24/10/2008 17:31

suiledonn.......another baby soon . It's looking like we ahould have all been on the October thread

Typical HCPs though not telling you the whole story......[grr]

I hope your mini sweep has done it's work and we can have a live birth thread this evening until you go to the hospital.

Any twinges????

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 24/10/2008 17:34

......and try not to get too nervous/excited as adrenaline is counterproductive to labour.

.

Calm, quiet and relaxation are what you need to let those natural labour inducing hormones do their thing.

Good Luck xx

suiledonn · 24/10/2008 17:35

Yes, definite twinges. Hope it is not just wishful thinking. I was really annoyed in the hospital though - everyone seems to have a different opinion on things. Midwives very anti-induction, most doctors pro-induction.

I was always a bit hazy about how quick things really were last time and I asked the midwife today. Notes say 3cm at 7am, baby delived 7.33am. So 3cm to birth in 33 minutes - don't think I can beat that this time.

MonkeyMargot · 24/10/2008 17:36

Wow suiledonn - best of luck with having a fabulous birth tomorrow! Another baby on the way!!!! xx

LackaDAISYcal · 24/10/2008 17:37

very quick; no wonder the doc wanted to keep you in! I hope you aren't too far away from the hospital, or are you booked for a home birth?

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 24/10/2008 17:40

Suiledonn how exciting for you. Good Luck if it starts tonight!

suiledonn · 24/10/2008 17:41

About 45 minutes from hospital on a clear run. This is why the doctor suggested induction this time round. I'm just worried about the pain aspect though. Had a drug free birth on dd and was prefectly managable but have heard it can be a lot worse if you end up being induced. Fingers crossed nature will take it's course tonight.

MonkeyMargot · 24/10/2008 17:43

Suiledonn keep your body moving around to get it all going. Another lady on the HB thread did an aerobics (for pregnancy) video after 2 days of "slow" labour - and it did the trick. good luck!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/10/2008 17:48

I think it depends on methods of induction; I had prostin gel and the contractions were fine until my waters broke then they stepped up a gear, but it was manageable on gas and air. totally different story when they put me on a drip after my contractions slowed down......ouch city.

I think if things are as favourable as they sound then prostin would set you off.....DH owes you some natural prostaglandins this evening
