Indith · 19/10/2008 14:32

Oh I'm sure there will be a couple more!

Must mail AM, thanks to you and to Jam

Am so wiped out at the moment, doesn't matter how much sleep I get I crave more.

Ds hasn't napped today, doesn't seem to be 100%, has spent most of the day moaning and just wants dh so I get hit if I try to cuddle him. I'm doing this again why?

Is it December yet?

Indith · 19/10/2008 14:44

Having just e-mailed AM I'll put a note on here as a reminder/for those who missed it.

The lovely Jam suggested we do a secret stork to send each other little gifts before the babies come and she has persuaded one of her crazy equally lovely May post-natal friends to organise it for us. If you would like to take part then AprilMeadow would like you to do the following:

"those that would like to take part need to email ( [email protected] ) your name, address and flavour of your bean if you know. Also if you have any particular likes and dislikes relating to baby gifts."

Indith · 19/10/2008 16:00

Oh FFS someone slap me.

Been in a stupid, moody, emotional mood all weekend. Dh has been fantastic today, he has dug the flower beds, we went to B&Q, got stuff done but now that I finally have some peace (dh taken ds out as he is still in a foul mood and moaning constantly) I'm in floods of tears because I don't think we came back from B&Q with Ds' doudou (cuddly rabbit) and nobody has handed it in. We've always had 2, we've lost and replaced one of them before. In fact I think it is number 1 that we still have and number 3 that got lost today, the place we got it from still sells them and even sells online (from France) so it is solved in a couple of clicks of a mouse so why the hell am I crying over it?

Sod it, I need to make dinner for ds and do something about the mud all over the kitchen floor after the gardening that went on today. Have a playdate coming round tomorrow and don't want her to see the place in a state.

Oh god a playdate, and ds has been foul today, he was foul when we went to her house for a playdate...what will she think? Why could it not have been last week when he was being angelic?

superkat · 19/10/2008 19:44

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let anyone planning a home birth know that we have a competition on Mama to be Goodies to win a birthing pool. Follow this link: www.mamatobegoodies.co.uk/win-la-bassine-birthing-pool-essentials-kit/

Cheers,

Kat x

chutneymary · 19/10/2008 20:03

get online and order new toy. Find out B and Q phone no and call them in the am. Anyone who is halfway decent knows that children take it in turns to throw tantrums, behave badly on playdates etc and no one will think any less of either of you for it. I must away to the dancers but will be back later.

Chin up honey, hope you feel better soon .

Just adding myself to the thread. Got to go and watch strictly. Back later.

Veggiemummy · 19/10/2008 20:32

Indith you poor thing, i know what you mean, when we were back home in Australia last i stayed with some friends in Melbourne who had a 1y.o. DS was 2 and still think he wasn't that bad but he was getting a bit sick of moving from place to place meeting new people and his dad had had to go back early for work so he was missing him. So he acted up a little bit but no more than most 2 y.o's do all the time and they were a bit uptight about their house and furniture so i think they thought he was some unruly child and they sometimes make little comments in messages to me. I don't really mind but i know he is not really like that.

oh and i sympathize with the toy, we have a donkey that DS has always had with him where ever we travel too. he likes having him around but never too fussed about him until he goes missing then he gets really upset. So far we have been able to get him back, but after a close call the last time we found out they don't make them anymore. Our fault for buying him an organic cotton non toxic vegetarian toy!!!

Evening! Indith I know exactly where you are coming from. DS used to be a bit of a terror...still has his moments but loads better. I used to dread playdates and often cried in the car after mum and toddler groups. It is hard but lets hope they all grow out of it eventually!

Had a lovely day today...went to a light aircraft field to watch planes (not my idea of a perfect sunday morning but great for DS)....went to the park this afternoon and DH ran after DS who was cycling like mad! He then played in the park and got suitable tired! I also managed to fall asleep on the sofa whilst he napped at lunchtime.

I bit the bullet on the buggy front and got a Phil and Teds. I feel like I've spent far too much money and am suffering with major guilt but I think I'd only be regretting it when I couldn't get a side by side into any of our local shops! I'm thinking of it as an investment that I will eventually sell on...if it doesn't get trashed!

Veggiemummy · 19/10/2008 20:52

well done Oli i don't think you'll regret it if it's exactly what you want, in a few months time you'll have forgotten how much it cost.

Veggiemummy · 19/10/2008 21:17

hey there little question, being at home alone and inspired by Oli's purchase i am looking at the one big buy we need which is a baby car seat. we borrowed one for DS as we didnt have a car and so only used it when we hired cars so the car seat on it's own was enough. This time around we want to get a Maxi-cosi seat as it fits into the quinny zapp and looks comfy. Anyhoo not sure about these isofix things, does anyone recommend them, we have toyota prius and have enough room for fitting seat into etc so what is the advantage of the isofix things. They all seem to be almost the same price as the car seat.

OP posts:
kayzisexpecting · 19/10/2008 21:18

How wierd to have an exact date.

JamInMyWellies · 19/10/2008 21:48

Just chucking myself on the new thread and thought I would copy April Meadows message for anyone interested. Will have a proper read through tom off to bed in a mo. Hope you all had good wkends.

SECRET STORK

Hello Ladies, I am on the May07 PN thread with JAM and she has asked if i might be able to sort out a Secret Stork for you lovely December ladies.

All those that would like to take part need to email ( [email protected] ) your name, address and flavour of your bean if you know. Also if you have any particular likes and dislikes relating to baby gifts.

The budget is £10 and its up to you if you want to include postage within that.

If i could please have all your details by the 31st October i will make sure that you are emailed back with your Secret Stork the following week. All gifts to arrive by the 1st December, hopefully before too many little bubbas have arrived grin

You can choose either to buy for the baby or for the mummy, the choice is up to you.

Oh, and of course i will need to know what you all get, just part of the fun grin

theyoungvisiter · 19/10/2008 22:02

hey all - just putting myself on the new thread...

Isofix - we looked into this briefly - not an expert but from what we gathered I think that they are meant to be more secure (the frame bit is actually bolted into the car so less potential for the seat to be incorrected fitted, belt to malfunction etc) and the idea is that it's easier to clip the seat in and out of the frame thingy rather than having to rethread the belt everytime, so if you're using the seat as a travel system it could be handy.

But if you want to use the seat in different cars you have to buy a different isofix frame thingy for each car so it can make the initial outlay a bit pricy. Also of course your car has to have isfix points (not all do!)

Veggiemummy · 19/10/2008 22:28

TYV thanks for that only one car and not sure if it has the isofix point, but will be taking it in and out a bit and the idea of it being safer sounds good.

OP posts:
Kimberly1979 · 19/10/2008 22:34

Veggie we are also looking at car seats at the moment. No idea about the maxi-cosi/isofix thing though.

Does anyone know anything about Britax car seats? Are they good? Would you recommend them??

Hope all of you ladies had a good weekend!

Veggiemummy · 19/10/2008 22:47

DS's 9mths-3yr car seat was Britax and it was fine he seemed very comfortable and happy in it. Easy to pop in & out.

OP posts:
Kimberly1979 · 19/10/2008 22:51

veggie Thanks! Here's a link from Mothercare about the isofix stuff... "link"

Veggiemummy · 19/10/2008 23:02

thanks for that

OP posts:
jumpjockey · 20/10/2008 08:16

Yay! New thread! I'm sure we'll get through at least another one beforethe first babies start appearing...

Veggie re car seats - we were told tat if you use an Isofix seat the car seat is physically attached to the frame of the car so in an accident the baby's actually the safest person in the car. That kind of swung it for us, plus the fact that the Msxi-CVosi scored by far highest on the Which safety test - something about side impact protection as well. MIL sent through the pages, it was actually pretty scary - out of 100 there were some seats that were scoring under 20 which suggests you'd be better off just laying your babe on the back seat

Indith hoping you're feeling a bit better today, sometimes everything does just get a bit much all at the same time [hug]

We had a fab experience last night (oooer) - Skype phoned my brother in Canada for the first time and finally got to see and talk to my nephew in real time - and he's only 19 months old . Well, if they will move 2/3 of the way across a blimming massive continent what do they expect...? Really cool to get to see and talk to bro and SIL properly, and it's all free?!! No idea how that works, but we'll be taking full advantage!
