Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Blimey herb- what does that involve?

Possibly trying to hold a variety of objects in for various amounts of time?!

onwardandupward · 19/10/2008 20:18

But I don't WANT to do postnatal physio or pelvic floor exercises. I just want my pelvic floor to return by magic.

[squeeze squeeze huff squeeze]

OP posts:
herbgarden · 19/10/2008 20:25

Apparently most of us don't squeeeeeeze enough or necessarily in the correct place and having proper physio will teach you the "technique" ....when I squeeze sometimes I feel I'm almost clenching my bum (clearly not right !!!) but you can prob see what I mean....

Distracted by the Strictly results show now. Mark whatsit with that funny fishnet top looked gorgeous last night but god he's a crap dancer - I fast forwarded him when I watched the show from last night it was painful....

MarkStretch · 19/10/2008 20:31

Doing pelvic floor exercises gives me a headache.

At least Gary Rhodes has gone herb, his gyrating was making me nauseous.

And I don't understand the bog wow about Lisa Snowdon either, she's really plain.

I slept with George Clooney way before her anyway.

MarkStretch · 19/10/2008 20:32

Er, I meant big wow

mrsy · 19/10/2008 20:55

Bog wow works better MS!

Just heard from TBM - I'll copy and paste the message:

Still having 3-4 an hour, but not dilating but it doesn't mean much at this stage as prem babies come fast. I finish the drugs today which means she comes when she comes. I'll be in Liverpool until a bed comes free in Brum and I'll be in till she comes. Hoping to get a better phone soon as I can't get on MN from this one. I will text you to let you to keep you updated so someone can pass things on.

MarkStretch · 19/10/2008 20:58

Oh thank goodness her lo is still in!

swampster · 19/10/2008 21:10

I think the drugs she has been given mean the baby's lungs should be able to cope much better now. But I really hope they can slow down the whole process for a long, long time - like a few weeks.

WMMC - I wouldn't dream of using washables until my baby had stopped passing sticky marmite for poo!

MS - I waddled into Ann Summers in Soho with a friend when we were both about 8 months pregnant to get some 'jiggle balls' - they're supposed to tone your pelvic floor. Now WHERE did I put them???

Questionkid · 19/10/2008 21:15

Well that was a bit of a shock. Not been on MN or FB since Friday as I've had a bit of a drama of my own and saw the stuff about TBM. How scary and worrying, I really hope she's ok. Sounds like they've managed to slow things down for now. Fingers crossed.

My own drama is that I had a v small amount of bleeding late on Friday afternoon and being a first timer I obviously went into absolute panic mode. I called the hospital, who told me to come down to see them. Having examined me (my internal was done by a child doctor who informed me that she had yet to have the joy of a speculum inside her as she wasn't 25 yet. Oh my God???!!) they told me that all seemed to be fine, baby's heartbeat was normal but they wanted me to stay in to be sure. So I had my first ever night in hospital. It would've been fine if it weren't for the fact that a woman went into labour on the maternity ward and was left down there with us for about 2 hours. POOR lady. She kept apologising for all the noise she was making, and was practically begging for painkillers and for someone to call her husband. None of which happened for ages. In the end we called her husband for her. The whole thing was quite an experience!

All seems to be fine now, although I've become a paranoid knicker checker and am worrying incessantly that he's not moving as much as normal. I may be taking myself to the doctor tomorrow to get them to listen to his heartbeat again for some reassurance.

Oh and BTW, this is for MS - I've been leaking a bit for a few weeks now I blame it on LO who appears to like jumping up and down in my bladder region. Right now, he could do it constantly, 24 hours a day and I'd welcome it as at least I'd know he was ok!!

Rachrox · 19/10/2008 21:19

Hi Ladies,
TBM glad you're holding on in there.
Every day counts with lo so premature, also she's a girl so it's a known fact they're stronger if born prem. Fingers crossed for them....
How is everyone else feeling on this thread? I feel really pregnant today, having trouble bending down to pick up things already!
Is anyone else getting stretching pains? I'm sure that's what i've been getting but don't remember them being quite so painful before??

mentalpup · 19/10/2008 21:32

Hi RachRox, - How is the pregnancy going then? 22 and a half weeks now. Feeling huge myself. number 2 for me and def finding it very different this time! How was your 20wk scan? did you find out what it is?

mrsy · 19/10/2008 21:51

Well, it's been a funny old weekend - the hormones have really been racing.

We were staying with friends in Lincoln and went shopping on Saturday and went to a cafe for lunch - I literally started crying because i couldn't decide what I wanted to eat - we ended up leaving and going back to our friend's house.

Then I was really sick, and my back was playing up. I was supposed to getting my friends man to see the benefits on having a baby, and I think I totally put him off!

Then we were stuck on the M11 for a million years on the way home, all the while with madam using my (very full) bladder as a stress reliever!

But I've finally convinced John we have some stuff to do in the house before the baby is born - we have a list bigger than my bump, and we need to buy half of ikea! Que much searching on the internet now! Hurrah! Anyone know where we can get a nice leather corner sofa?

elkiedee · 19/10/2008 22:48

Looking in to see if there's any more news of TBM - I read Call the Midwife a few months ago, and thought it was fascinating - I bought the sequel (found it half price hb in the supermarket) but haven't read it yet.

mumoverseas · 20/10/2008 05:08

morning all, another restless night and first thought this morning was TBM. I'm sure a lot of you are the same. Pleased to see update and fingers crossed the drugs work and the little one is ok. My DH couldn't understand what I was getting upset about last night so I showed him the article that TBM posted a week or so ago ref the mirror article. Don't think I've ever seen a 6ft 15 stone man cry so suddenly.
on a positive note, WMMC, its not you, you are right, maternity clothes DO shrink between pregnancys.
MS, I'm having all the incontinent moments and was worried that as its DC4 I was falling apart. However, according to the midwife its because little bean is lying really low down and permanently squishing my bladder. Am hoping when he moves/delivers I can give up wearing incontinence pads!
Hope everyone has a good day

mrsy · 20/10/2008 07:17

Update from Claire:

Yeah. My parents are looking after her, Sure Start pay a child minder so that will help and they said if something like this happens they would look at getting more funding. Apparently the drugs to stop labour run out tomorrow night but they'll probably extend it rather than risk me going into labour over night. Everytime it's due the contractions step up a notch so I'm a little worried this will be it. They're good here, they're talking to me all the time and letting me know where we are and what will happen. They're looking after Mark too, he's got a bed and they're providing all his meals and tea when I'm offered. He's going to have to pop home Tuesday to see work, do some things and hopefully pick up a car. Mum is going to bring Isobel at the weekend if I'm still here.

spottyshoes · 20/10/2008 07:28

Lots of love and luck to you TBM & family. Glad she's still in there!

MS I sneezed and nearly had a tiny accident yesterday I had CS last time too so thought it wouldn't happen to me!!

Ditto about the disposables until marmite has past. and I also wait until the umbilical comes off too.

Off to work - last week of madness - yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
xxx

mrsy · 20/10/2008 07:35

Oooh - do most people wait before using washables? That's interesting.

MarkStretch · 20/10/2008 08:14

Spotty is back yay!

I will stop posting nasty things on your wall now!

Had a big fat sleep but baby woke me up at 3am kicking and kicking and kicking. Then had a dream that I was on a bus which converted into a boat explaining BLW to my mum.

Odd.

Off to work today. They promised me that once I reached 6 months I could drastically cut down my caseload, stop doing home visits and do more admin tasks from home.

I am going to go in and shove my bump in everyone's face today groaning 'oooohhh, 6 months now, oooohhh'

Assuming that 24 weeks = 6 months? I'm stil confused...

LittleMissNorty · 20/10/2008 09:21

Hello everyone

Back after a 2 week break in Scotland....had a lovely time but when holiday was booked, wasn't planning on doing it 24 weeks pg, so am pretty knackered as I can no longer bend over properly....sleep without chronic indigestion etc.

Hope everyone is ok.....thinking of TBM and hoping LO stays in there for as long as possible.

What have I missed then?

oooggs · 20/10/2008 09:38

thinking of you TMB - keep cooking that baby

6 mths is 26 weeks as 26+26 is 52 and there are 52 weeks in a year - but you already knew that you were just checking the rest of us were on the ball

laidbackinengland · 20/10/2008 09:45

Morning - also hoping that TBM manages to hold on, every day is a day in the right direction.

QK - sorry to hear about your bleed. It's scary isn't it ! Hope you are feeling OK now and able to take it easy.

MS - really milk it at work . I am working on 6 months being about 26 weeks - although it's not an exact science. I am due 3 months tomorrow (all things going well) and so am telling people that 'only three months to go...' and waddling about pathetically. In my previous pregancies I have always been a bit of a superwoman - leaping about here and there, however, I thought that as this is likely to be my last baby - I might try and get a bit of sympathy .

Welcome back LMN .

Today I am feeling bunged up (cold wise not bottom wise) and can't take anything for it. WIll try a steam and some olbas oil . Waht I really want is half a packet of sudafed and a whole packet of chocolate digestives. Oh well.

laidbackinengland · 20/10/2008 09:46

ps. I think postnatal physio also can involve these

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kegel_exercise

According to wikipedia - they can also be used as dildos. Dual purpose then.

laidbackinengland · 20/10/2008 09:50

OMG - just seen a link for these ...all those expecting boys, this is NOT an essential item

shop.thehungersite.com/store/item.do?siteId=220&itemId=35122&origin=30898

dinkystinky · 20/10/2008 09:57

Morning all. Had a long relaxing weekend away with friends and toddlers and babies at The Elms in Worcestershire (lovely place, definitely recommend it if you want to be pampered rotten) and logged on this morning to see all the stuff that's been happening.

Am keeping everything possible crossed for Tinksmum and hoping her little one stays in side longer.

Sorry to hear about the various car prangs - hope everyone is ok.

Pelvic floor exercises - apparently you should be focusing on lifting the pelvic floor rather than just squeezing it . Finding it is enough exercise for most people....

LOL at the peepeeteepees!

dinkystinky · 20/10/2008 09:57

QK - sorry about the bleed; if the doctors and midwives are saying everything is ok though, please do try to relax and not stress about things.
