What a quiet day on here ! Maybe everyone is working ?

PinkTulips · 13/10/2008 13:04

nope...... but when i went to sit down at the pc an hour ago after spending all morning sorting laundry i was informed 'mummy there's a mouse under the couch!'

now normally if my dd told me this i'd put it down to her tendancy to lie vivid imagination but as she was actually down on her knees peering under the couch and the cat was sitting there looking paticularly suspicious i took a look and lo and behold found myself staring right into a little whiskered face!

spent the next 15 minutes moving furniture to remove said mouse from the premises and then had to hoover the accumulated muck i discovered under the couch from months of being ignored when we do the cleaning. and then nesting kicked in and i felt the urge to clean the whole room.

now my back is sore and that annpoying pregnancy thing has kicked in of no matter how much i clean i keep finding more bits to do.... had to draw the line at washing the fireplace

Questionkid · 13/10/2008 13:07

Hi everyone!

Well, I'm back, and I'm now officially a Mrs. I think I'm just about starting to get used to being a Mrs rather than a Miss and to having a different name. The day was lovely and I was very calm and relaxed (well, apart from a slight mishap in the morning where I got a bit too hot from leaving the heating on by mistake, went up and down the stairs a few times to show things to go my mum and everything went white in front of my eyes and had a bit of a sweat on!) Thanks for the lovely comments and well wishes on Facebook.

Also had a lovely break in Scotland, with one night in a fantastic hotel near Inverness and the rest staying with MIL who was more than happy to put us up to save us a few pennies. We had a fab time, despite the rain and cold. Photos on facebook asap.

My bump decided to make its presence known pretty much the day before the wedding, so I most definitely looked like an up the duff bride. It was great though, I felt like I was well and truly blooming.

I do appear to have developed an incredibly annoying case of cramp in the bum cheek though - it keeps on coming back and means I have to hop up and down and do weird leg exercises.

Anyway, I don't have time to read the pages and pages that I've missed so I hope everyone is well, and if anyone's had a bad time over the past week then big hugs.

PinkTulips · 13/10/2008 13:48

congratulations Mrs. QK

dinkystinky · 13/10/2008 13:48

Laidback - I suspect they're all off looking at nappy-wraps/cloth nappies given the nappywrap fest over the weekend!

Welcome back Questionkid - glad you had a lovely wedding day and honeymoon.

Pink - make sure you dont overdo it! After all that cleaning and mouse disposal (yuck) surely its time for a sit down with a cup of tea?

herbgarden · 13/10/2008 14:07

Mmm, I did wonder whether I'd dropped into the wrong thread at one point this weekend with all the re-useable nappy talk - I never realised there was a whole other word out there - I even checked out one of the links to see what it was all about. Maybe I might even be converted this time ?!

Questionkid - glad you had a lovely time.

It's all doom and gloom in here today - someone was made redundant last week and no-one has deigned to say anything to us - we just sort of "know" - charming. I have made my feelings known to the powers that be (not one to hold back !)...Things are bad enough without people forgetting that a bit of a touchy feely morale boosting e-mail might at least keep everyone from bitching and whingeing.

mslucy · 13/10/2008 15:01

congrats Mrs QK.
Being married is ace - even though I'm very naughty and only use the Mrs name for schools and hospitals - for professional/financial things I still use the old name.

All this talk of real nappies has made me check out our local nappy service, which looks ace. I shall drop them a line asap.

The good news is that I my gums are less bad than I thought and I still haven't had any fillings.

Not bad for an old bird of 38.

TinkerBellesMum · 13/10/2008 15:05

I've just come back from a scan and feeling rather

They did a Doppler scan, where they check the blood flow to and from the placenta. Because of the Hughes that will show if I'm trying to evict the baby. They've found a problem with the left side uterine artery. I don't fully understand it, apparently there is a notch in the peak and the peak was quite high. However, this isn't their priority at the moment, though they will look into it next. The baby has managed to drop below the 10th %ile, they're going to see me two weeks Friday to see if she's following that line and just going to be a small baby or if she's dropped further below.

So we have two potential problems and I have 18 days until they can tell me what's going on.

laidbackinengland · 13/10/2008 15:07

Herb - the lack of communication really does make things much more sinister doesn't it ? My DH works in an organisation that has just got rid of a few members of staff and NOTHING was said until he intervened and explained, from a psychological perpective, why everyone else was shitting their pants and subsequently underperforming !! Bah !

Glad the gums are ok mslucy

Congrats questionkid ! Hope married life is ace for you !

The first item of girls clothes crept into my home today. A cute little romper bought from ebay. So weird to be buying things that aren't brown/blue or green !

laidbackinengland · 13/10/2008 15:09

Hi TBM - sorry to hear that your scan was worrying. How annoying and scary . Big virtual hugs to you.

dinkystinky · 13/10/2008 15:16

TBM - sorry you had such a worrying scan. Sending big hugs in your direction. Am sure that your little one is a fighter like Tinkerbelle.

Herbgarden - hate it when people just "disappear" over night like that. Definitely not a good thing to do for staff morale.

MsLucy - I didnt change my surname either after getting married (just became a Ms rather than Mrs). Figured it took me many years at school learning to spell my very long surname - am going to continue to get the maximum use out of that learning by keeping it...

mrsy · 13/10/2008 15:25

TBM - sending lots of postive vibes your way

Questionkid - it's weird, i still think of myself as a newlywed, but suppose i'll have to give up on that now!

Thanks, chilledmama for doing the helpful link to the nappy lady - i thought i should but couldn't be arsed didn't have time.

PT - watch out you don't overdo it, but i can understand the eek factor of finding mice activity under the couch!

laidback - even though she's my first, i had a few bits of neutral stuff that i got when i thought i was pregnant in the past, so getting stuff with an real baby in mind is pretty cool and being able to buy something other than white/beige/lemon is pretty cool!

YAY for spreading the news of reusable nappies! I'm gonna look into a nappy service today - hadn't thought of it before!

PinkTulips · 13/10/2008 15:42

lol, no fear of me overdoing it.... can't get anything done with damn kids underfoot.

mouse was quite cute tbh, very small and all quivering and frightened. damn cat is pregnant and hormonal and brought it in. i think she wanted to show the kittens how to hunt... she had the decency to look quite embarreessed about the hole thing at least

TBM sorry the news was worrying. at least it doesn't sound as if they're overly paniced about her coming just yet. try to relax and use some meditation. visualise lots of lovely blood whooshing through the placenta to baby and helping her grow.... can't hurt her and it might help you feel better.

mslucy · 13/10/2008 15:44

TBM - can you ask for a second opinion?
It's rubbish to make you wait all that time, esp after all you've been through.
If not a second opinion, I think you should demand some kind of clarification.
It's probably meaningless and all well be well but you have a right to know what's going on.

dinkystinky · 13/10/2008 15:50

Is anyone else's baby giving their cervix a good pummelling? I can feel Squiglet basically either going kungfu-tastic or throwing his first tantrum on my cervix at present. He is actually making my lower bump quiver

idontbelieveit · 13/10/2008 15:52

TBM - sounds like we have matching left uterine arteries. Try to take comfort in the fact they don't want to see you for another 3 weeks. If they were really concerned they'd have you in sooner. (That's what I'm telling myself anyway, my next scan is on the 6th). I think the artery notch just means that the blood flow is below average rather than not enough for the baby IYKWIM.

I use motherease and tots bots with motherease wraps and i love them. Might waiti and see what shape the next baby is before investing any more in nappies though.

Congratulations QK!

Had a lovely weekend. Worked all day Saturday which really helped to take my mind off things then went over to Manchester to visit friends and the aquatics centre which Milly loves cos of the elephant slides!
Am feeling rather shattered today but did a bit of shopping and got a lovely blanket and sleepsuit with a hood from H and M for baby girl. It's the first thing i've brought for the new baby, i gave myslef a talking to over the weekend and i'm really trying to enjoy the fun bits of pregnancy despite the worries.

Cocodrillo · 13/10/2008 16:04

I've not been around for weeks, and blimey these threads move quickly.

Sorry to hear your scan was worrying, TBM, as others have said I would take comfort from the fact that they are making you wait the 18 days. Sending postive thoughts your way.

Congrat to questionkid.

Lardy, I hope you and DH can work things out. People often say things they don't mean in the heat of the moment.

Have never tried the washable nappies. I reckon I'm too set in my ways to change now. DC3 will just have to brave the chemicals in his/her bits .

Chilledmama do you still have the belt you mentioned a few pages back? If so I'd be glad to buy it off you, my SPD has kicked in good and proper, especially at night. I dread bedtime.

PinkTulips · 13/10/2008 16:13

ds just fell asleep lying along my knee with his legs either side and his head on the bump being kicked by baby [they need a melting heart emoticon too]

am busy online xmas shopping, i love buying toys, it releases my inner child. i'm going to be heartbroken when they're older and pick their own horrible tacky plastic crap and i don't get to hunt for toys anymore!

TinkerBellesMum · 13/10/2008 16:16

Thanks all

The reason they've said to wait so long is because they need a two week gap to be able to see properly what she's doing, but the clinic I'm under, which only happens once a month, is on the Friday that week so they're putting it back further. The main concern at the moment is the growth but when they're doing the Doppler scans because of Lily-Hope it's worrying when they say there's a problem without explaining it.

dinky, I'm just getting a pummeling full stop! She didn't like the Doppler scan because they have to press on quite hard and we could see her kicking at the probe and my hand (have to pull the skin tight). I think she's dancing quite a lot because I have a regular tapping on my cervix, not at a pulse regularity but very strong. Because of the problems with my back and having regular BH I'm having problems with my pelvic floor and she seems to kick more when I'm needing the toilet!

PinkTulips · 13/10/2008 16:26

funnily nough baby discovered my cervix just as i was eading that post.... little bit worrying as i think i'm slightly dilated (thanks to 2 previous awkward babies stretching me to bits for that one) and would prefer she kept the hell away from that area.

she's been busy all day funnily enough, it's normally evenings that things get active but there's been no stopping of it since i woke up.... could do with joining ds for a nap at this stage.

have just realised i forgot to cook dinner again was supposed to be spag bol and there's no way i have time to do that now...... whoops!

lardybump · 13/10/2008 16:48

evening everyone sorry I have not been on but things are going from bad to worse at the moment. DP and I are trying to sort things out but then I get more bad news today. see this thread

Questionkid · 13/10/2008 16:49

And it's question time from Questionkid - how do you know when the baby's kicking on your cervix? I often feel like mine is literally dancing right 'down there' - is that my cervix?

Also, does anyone want some bump bands? I bought a pack of 3 m/l ones from New Look and it turns out I could've done with l/xl!! I don't want any money for them, just shout if you want them and I'll put them in the post.

MarkStretch · 13/10/2008 16:52

Oooh questionkid I would love them if you really don't want them. I use mine loads, got a black one and a white one from topshop, black one fits nicely, white one is baggy as hell. Odd as they were both medium...

MarkStretch · 13/10/2008 16:56

Lardy, I'm so sorry things are getting bad for you, do you have family around to support you?

My baby has been going mad today, he has kicked pretty much all day and has currently lodged himself under my right rib and is dancing the wild fandango. Got low down kicks and high up squirms, actually feels like he is punching me.

Does anyone else feel more worn out when their baby is wriggling constantly?

Ooofff.

dinkystinky · 13/10/2008 17:12

Feels like big thumps down below in my case Questionkid - this child is going to be a kickboxer like his mummy (no, I'm not kickboxing any more before you ask!)

Lardy - am so sorry; you're having an awful time at the moment. Really hope good things start happening for you soon.
