MerryMarigold · 13/10/2008 03:57

lacks, blood results were fine ie. it is not a liver problem.

i've now got a horrendous earache, i thought cold was better but it's obvioulsy just moved location! it's 4am and i have dozed for 1hr tonight, after taking 2 paracetamol. i was in tears earlier for ages . can't wake dh either as he had had a stressful wkend and back to a stressful job tomorrow. daytime is a lot better, thankfully. i did sort some paperwork tonight, but too tired to do a lot.

im def a pj person. thankfully, dh finds brushed cotton quite sexy!

ceebee74 · 13/10/2008 07:33

Morning all

I am definitely a PJ person aswell - as is DH fortunately. On a normal evening, we put our PJ's on when DS has his bath (so about 7ish) and that is us done for the night - needless to say I am a bit of a PJ addict and buy new ones constantly! Just got a pair of maternity ones from Next - they were a bit expensive but they are VERY comfy!!

ceebee74 · 13/10/2008 07:34

Merry sorry you are still feeling lousy and can't sleep The sound of 'day naps' sounds good and whatever works eh?

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 08:03

Like MonkeyM, I think MerryM is a complete saint for carrying 2. And if I were here I would be maoning all the time.

Like Ceebee and Sparkle, I too do think that Strcictly is much more sexy/sensual this year. But I did think that Cherie Lunghis dance was very beautiful.

LadyBuzz · 13/10/2008 08:12

Sorry to hear your rash is worse Merry trip to the docs can't hurt!
I' in the comfy camp now, I live in trakkies - look awful so don't leave the house if I can help it - suits me fine!
Heartmum you have made me feel normal as a fellow vomit phobe - DH thinks I make it up!! Glad to know I'm not the only one!
MissyG I hate my body pillow too, loved it with DS but it makes me too hot so DH has stolen it, I have a Cushie that goes under my bump which seems to do the job otherwise I feel like my bump might fall off

vbab78 · 13/10/2008 08:36

morning - Had another beyond horrible night of restless sleep, tossing and turning, jumping in bed and straightening out my legs keep thinking I am getting cramp. I keep wondering if my change in sleep is due to my body being on "warm up" for labour? 37wks today and over the last few evenings before bed baby has been going mental. Even though my bump is solid baby doesnt half make it change to all sorts of shapes really quickly, must still be room. It has now got the point where it is uncomfortable.

DH still no better with his tonsils. Going to see nurse this morning.

DS was fine once at nursery (private nursery just for until 1) but did take me and DH to get him ready under protest. I did notice though when putting his eczema cream on his hands that on 1 where the skin joins your thumb and next finger seems to be packed with cold sores. I have been told many times that this is bad for children with eczema and you have to be careful also because the herpes virus can go into any open wound which with his eczema can be loads. Just so happens I think he had a cut there on his hand at the weekend that he did from biting due to the eczema and teething. So unless my cold sore cream does the trick i will have to mess about taking him to the doctors (once they can fit us in).

vbab78 · 13/10/2008 08:36

merry - sorry to hear about your earache. hope you better soon.

Morning All,

Please everyone seems "OK"...

Vbab Sorry you have been feeling so poorly. Hope it sorts itself out quickly!

Lacks Sounds like DH is feeling slightly insecure about his feelings. Like you say, totally normal (and esp for men to allow it to suddenly build up, whereas the women they think about it the entire pregnancy!!! I AGREE!). Hope things resolve.

Merry YIKES, it's spreading. Hope you get it controlled. But like you say at least it looks as bad as it feels, sounds strange but i know what you mean.

I had a lovely weekend. My sister was up with he DP and baby Polly. They have finally decided on middle names (drum roll) Polly Florence India (one of my names!!!) Carter. (Fancy filling in a form they'll be no room left).

Anyway, we had a family party at my mums yesterday and it was great. Ifelt so fat because my sister now looks no different from before she was pregnant! 4 weeks and all her weight has gone and her boobs are still in fine fling. I asked her to lie to me and tell me she was wearing sucking in big knickers (alas she was not!).

I am 35 + 3 today and am at first antenatal tonight! Reality hits harder everyday. YIKES....

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 09:43

Morning all

Well thanks to Rosa's top tip I had a better sleep for half the night as bump was well supported by my V cushion and the duvet. However DH pulled the duvet out from under me and disrupted the fine equilibrium I had created. That was it hips started to ache! (I had only used 'my share' of the duvet as well as was too hot to have it cover me GRRR!).

I agree with Obs Cherie Lunghi is stunning and so are her dances. I actually hope she wins to show you don't have to be a younger chick to win. If only I looked like that now (well when not PG!) let alone in my fifties! Wow.

Merry glad your itching isn't a liver prob but for you that it is continuing never the less. Is there anything that gives you relief??

I got lovely PJs from Blooming Marv and I hate it when I have to wash them cos they are soooo comfy!!

Hope you enjoy antenatal Pinkali I really loved mine! Did you start the RLT?

MildWest · 13/10/2008 09:45

Morning all, gosh this thread moves quickly finding it hard to keep up!

Only 3 more weeks of work left - can't come round soon enough! Work days are a bit dull as I'm easily distracted by baby things, but at least am sat down all day so not quite so knackered. End up rushing round all weekend and getting very tired! Seem to suddenly loose all energy and have to sit down!

But, can't really get comfy on the sofa anymore so resorted to sitting on the floor! Not very ladylike getting back up again!

Am at the man at the coffee cart. Asked for a latte and he informed me 'it's not good to have coffee when you're pregnant'!! Quite flabbergasted as it's none of his business but found myself explaining that it's safe to have a certain amount and I only have 1 small cup a day. Now feel should have just ignored him rather than justifing actions!

Can I ask a question about baby clothes - am clueless first timer! Have been given loads of vests, long sleeved vests and sleepsuits. Will this do for first few weeks? Just wondering what baby will 'wear' in the day i.e. do long sleeved vests go under sleepsuits and that's that? Obv with pramsuit, blanket and hat etc for going outside...

Heartmum2Jamie · 13/10/2008 10:12

Morning all!

Well, I thought things might be moving along last night. My body decided it was time for a good ol' clear out, if you get my drift. No other action though, rather annoyingly. Still I suppose it is better than being constipated.

I am feeling a little off though. I am not sure if I am coming down with a cold as I have a sore throat, but it's only sore on one side, so may just be an ulcer from running myself down. I guess lots of rest will help either way. Tummy still feeling a little gripe-y, so can imagine a bit more of a clear out before the day is through. Oh joy!

Mildwest. I don't have much in the way of "proper" clothes for this baby. I learned from having 2 other children than in the early weeks, they tend to live permenantly in sleepsuits & vests. I may dress baby if we are going out for the day, but when you are pretty sure you will be changing them a few times, sleepsuits are actually easier and less fiddly and probably more comfy for baby.

ceebee74 · 13/10/2008 10:12

Vbab sorry you are having rubbish sleep aswell - I guess hearing it is natures way of preparing you for what is to come is not much comfort eh?

Sparks god yes, I wish I had a body like Cherie Lunghi's now - never mind at her age! Even DH ogles admires it!!

Mildwest I think for most people, the baby will be in sleepsuits in the early days and yes, you can layer vests underneath. However, I am slightly odd in that I actually like to dress the baby every day in 'proper' clothes (much to my mum's disgust ). When I was pg with DS, I read somewhere that it helps the baby start to distinguish between day and night so I just kind of started to do it with DS and then it became a habit. However, I think this little one will not be dressed for the nursery run as it is too much hassle dressing DS at the moment in the morning, let alone both of them I think he will be bundled in a pramsuit and in the pram still in his babygro!

MonkeyMargot · 13/10/2008 10:15

Bonjour mes petites! I have my French lesson later today so I'm trying to get in the spirit of it all. Merd!
MerryM oh dear, your itching sounds awful as does the lack of sleeping . You must go back to the doc's to get something stronger.
Vbabs - sorry you didn't sleep either. It's awful - you feel like death the whole of the next day. You have my sympathies.
Hana sounds you like you had a fab Sunday! Lucky you!
Pinkali - ooh, your sis sounds like someone I would strike off my xmas card list. How dare she be slim and gorgeous 4 WEEKS after popping? Still - you have the same genes so it does bode well for you!!
Obs and Sparkle am in agreement re. the wonderful Cherie Lunghi. My DH is quite smitten with her...
MildWest - in over your coffee man!! It's not like you asked for an intravenous injection of crack cocaine followed by a vodka martini! The arse.
Re. baby clothes - I am clueless too, but have gathered from the wisdom of others that they wear the same sort of thing day and night to start with, i.e. a "vest" (short sleeves, press-studs between legs) with a "sleepsuit" long sleeves and legs including feet) over the top. Possibly a cardie over the top in daytime if v.cold and you're going out. I don't think babies go for high-fashion couture until a little later on.

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 10:19

Good grief Mildwest! Can't say I'd be too happy at that man either but maybe he thought he was doing the right thing by informing you . I had a small cup myself when PG with DS and he is fine... This time I have had more de-caf coffees when at home but only cos DH bought a fab 'Nespresso' coffee machine and I honestly can't tell the difference between reg and decaf as both very nice!

At end of day you measure your own acceptable level of 'risk' but it does annoy me how the press jump on every piece of research that is done to see if there is a link between certain things but gives headlines like "Coffee/Make Up/Perfume a pregnancy risk" then when you read article it hasn't be proved yet or you would need to use it in ridiculously high amounts!! Sorry rant over but as my job entails risk mgt these things annoy me!

As for the baby clothes, if you have loads of the said items then you have the same as me. I never bothered with actual oufits for DS when under 3 months as it will inevitably need changed a few times! (is that what you mean, sleepsuits during day?)

Pinkali37 · 13/10/2008 10:20

Ooh forgot to add, and re sleeping. My sister brought up her wonderful ful length pregnancy pillow (god knows why but she calls it DEBBIE (slightly concerning)). Anyway, it's lovely, however i do feel like I am sleeping with 2 people in the bed as it is nearly longer than me. Turning over with it is also quite an event takes a few attempts before perfecting.

Monkey... Mmmmm yes if only god had been that kind and given us the same genes. It would appear that all the fat genes and ugly genes came to me! I have to say she looked great and without even trying (YUK).

sparkletoes · 13/10/2008 10:28

LOL at 'intravenous injection of crack cocaine' MonkeyM!!! Maybe you should have said that Mildwest, "Oh the coffee is just for this morning, I'll get my crack injection for the afternoon"...

Am in awe of your french lessons tho Margot, have enough trouble remembering english words at moment! Altho I did see in news this morning that post-PG women are supposed to develop bigger brain cells!! Now that is a headline that brightens your day (even if it is a bit - not in my experience!!).

Oblomov · 13/10/2008 10:43

Everyones dh is smitten with Cherie Lunghi ?Mine is too. And I tell you, So am I !!!! And I am the most non bi-person EVER. God the woman. God the figure. God the sexiness. God the class, the charisma. I could go on. I have never had any of that. Ha ha.

Mildwest - Yes baby in sleepsuits all the way for me. I love them. Don't even like putting babies in clothes. But I know that Ceebee and Dozy do. Like we said on earlier thread. I think I might make one for me aswell. Baby and I can be in sleepsuits permananently. Sounds heaven.

Love to all those in pain, difficult dh's, 'had enuffers' etc etc Vbab, Daisy, MerryM I am reading all your posts - promise. Can not respond to everything.

Dozymare · 13/10/2008 10:56

morning all- jusdt checking in, can't keep up!!!! Hope everyone is OK, sorry to hear the itching is getting worse Merry you are doing a sterling job though of carrying those twins and have done so, so well to get this far!! You have my admiration and respect...huge hug to you and your itchy tummy!

Well we had a lovely weekend, was so hot in London yesterday, went to the park for a bike ride which I am regretting today...no more exertion for me now! Chilling officially from now on in...I can't believe I have less than 3 weeks to C - day....eeek!

Also in the camp of not ready to pop yet as still so much to be finished! It's so funny that with your PFB you have everything ready weeks/months in advancve, your 2nd still quite organised, but your 3rd...forget it! (or is that just us )

Better do some paperwork now, have a lovely day everyone

DM x

ruthosaurus · 13/10/2008 11:03

Hi all,

I am having difficulty doing individual responses today as I cannot retain information for that long and the baby is hurting me right now, which is quite distracting. It feels like it's about to fall out - do we think that means it's engaged or what?!

Baby clothes - does anyone know where you can get grownup sleepsuits? I am quite of babies and their extreme leisurewear! Oh, just read that Obs has same request. Get googling, someone, there's a marketing need here...

Who was it who was asking about bfing tops? I bought a vest one from Mothercare and it is SO comfy and also a reassuringly small size (My H&M maternity trousers are off the scale and actually don't even have an English size in because of the shame).

Hips - Ow ow ow ow. Ow. I walk like Mrs Overall from Acorn Antiques. Ow. I feel that this would be less obvious in a giant sleepsuit. Also, if the baby did fall out it would have something to land in.

I had really dodgy dreams last night, including going out on the pull and ending up with Michael Sheen and also having the baby in a record 45 minutes. Woke up and was slightly disappointed to still be pg. I really miss cuddling up with DH properly.

We visited my also very pg best mate yesterday who is also pig sick of it all. Her DH washed all her maternity gear too hot with a pen and some kitchen roll so her clothes are a) too small b) stained and c) the washing machine broke. She is furious but calmed down when DH mended the machine - yay!

MildWest · 13/10/2008 11:12

Oh good, sleepsuits it is then! And maybe some kind of christmas-themed outfit, for the amusement factor.

Coffee man was very cheeky. From what I've read, excessive caffeine (i.e. over 5 cups or something) could cause low birth weight. Seeing as this little one is already measuring 39 weeks, I don't think one cup is going to do much damage! Grr.

Sleeping - i've got a long pillow with a shaped bit to under bump and support back. It's comfy for sleeping but ever so difficult to get out of in the middle of the night to go to the loo!

Strictly - I thought Arlene was a bit cheeky - isn't the Cherie's dancing partner married to one of the other professional dancers? Bit like Tess going on about Matt and Flavia last year (am not addicted to Strickly, honest)
