Hi there

Ceebs is it me or is strictly a lot steamier this year?! I know that is prob the point in a lot of the dances but bloody hell I felt like Cherie Lunghi and partner needed a room last night!!

Yes the hip thing is really bad, have been having very disturbed sleep due to it.

I also think babies tend to get a bit quieter at this stage due to lack of space but would say count the usual 10 movements and speak to MW if worried...

Am watching a lot of Disney/Pixar movies with DS at mo, does that make me a bad mum???!!

sparkletoes · 12/10/2008 17:59

Oh and Baytree11 you will find a hospital bag list posted by Pinkyminky on our previous thread, really close to the end:

It was called: "Ante-natal clubs : Due in November 08: Missing - 2 feet, last seen somewhere under bump in late August. If found, please massage and trim toenails before returning."

and is on page 39...

Rosa · 12/10/2008 19:05

Sore hip ladies - have you tried a god plumped up cushion under your bump to try to take the weight off you hips. I suffered terribly about 3 weeks ago -A pillow was no good as it was too soft and I kept hitting dh when I rolled over . On a positive note it is now much better and I only ache if I stay on that side for more than 3 hrs . Been a lovely day here as well and I dug the carrycot - buggy attachment out only to find it has a bit broken off it so we might have to get another ( dh sweating at the thought of me in baby shop )

Rosa · 12/10/2008 19:05

Opps a good plumped cushion might be better a god filled cushion might be a bit hard to find !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sparkletoes · 12/10/2008 19:15

May just try that Rosa can hardly move in bed for cushions at mo so another won't hurt!!

What is it with looking things out and finding them knackered??! Soo annoying, let that be a warning to those on baby no 1, if you put things away for next one make sure it is well protected!!!

barbareebaa · 12/10/2008 19:58

Evening ladies
I too have a pillow for my bump or hips and sometimes it helps and sometimes it gets in the way - and sometimes dh gets annoyed with it floating about and chucks it out!!

Has been a lovely day - had a nice trip to wanstead and bought a potato masher exciting stuff

advice needed please.... I was given a given a gift card for Boots - should we buy an avent bottle sterilizer? Is it worth it or would we be as well with a bit of Milton? Is there anything else you would recommend we get that would be brilliant or should we just sit tight and buy bits and pieces like nappies and creams as we need them?

Oh yay - no work tomorrow - dh's day off too

ceebee74 · 12/10/2008 20:06

Sparks you are right about SCD although I hate Cherie Lunghi's partner - he is so arrogant - I certainly wouldn't want to get steamy with him - urgh!! There does seem to be a lot more flirting this year

Barbs I bought an Avent bottle steriliser with DS and it was good but I did bottlefeed so I got my money's worth out of it - it has since been used by my bro and has now come back to me for it's third baby and is still going strong. If you are planning on breastfeeding and maybe only using the occasional bottle for expressed milk etc. it probably isn't worth the money tbh.

Rosa thanks for the advice about the cushion - I may try that tomorrow night when DH is away and see if it improves things - and if it does, work out how to tell DH is sharing the bed with a cushion aswell. As it is, we are constantly arguing over who is taking up too much room and we have a king size bed fgs

barbareebaa · 12/10/2008 20:21

Thanks Ceebee - sounds like a good buy but am hoping that I will be able to breastfeed so maybe we should wait and see...

sparkletoes · 12/10/2008 20:23

Glad you agree Ceebs thought I was getting prudish haha! Yes he is awful that guy, he is married to one of the pro dancers but I cannot see the appeal at all!

Barbs I got a Back to Nature microwave steriliser (as I had those bottles). I BF and expressed so it got used. Was on special offer at supermarket at time. Would say any microwave one prob a lot easier than waiting around for Milton also cheaper than the electric ones... Shop around for the one you decide on as you can get good deals in strange places! (mine came with 3 new bottles and bottle brush and was cheaper than buying the bottles alone!).

LackaDAISYcal · 12/10/2008 20:26

evening all . After a horrible and hormonal morning where I shouted at everyone and then went back to bed at 8:30 for three hours (had four hours VERY broken sleep last night) I managed a productive afternoon and we have washed everything to within an inch of it's life, all virgil's clothes are sorted, the hospital and labour bags are packed (bar some BIG pants and lansinoh and snacks for me and DH)

Still feeling hormoanal (no, not a typo ) and weepy, but at least those jobs are done and out the way.

ceebee, I had a big plug in avent steriliser with DS but it seemed to take ages everytime so I ended up buying the mocrowave one. With DD I had the tommee tippee combined micro/cold water one, but hardly sterilised anything as BFing so ended up selling that and using the Lindam steriliser bags. Have some of those left over so they will do this time around (mostly I washed pump and nipple shields etc in really hot water and let air dry )

Just catching up with Strictly...I missed it last night, shame on me.

heartmum...sorry about my graphic description of DDs poorly tum . Am also smiling at your "Good Life"

merryM, you have twice as many reasons than the rest of us to have a moan

MonkeyM, hope you are OK after your busy day yesterday; there is no way I could manage a schedule like that!

hope the beach was nice hana....we did a bit in the garden this afternoon and the weather was warm and lovely.

Now off to see who/what I missed in my post.

vbab78 · 12/10/2008 20:35

hi ladies. Thanks for all your sympathies regarding my weird sickness and pain on Friday night. Not had any sickness since but have definately noted a difference in my sleep pattern in that there is hardly any pattern and I now hardly sleep and when I do I dont feel rested . Maybe it is my body giving me a warning that things may happen soon.

last night - Had a lovely meal out with friends eventually at 8.30pm. Although me a DH had an exchange of words in front of them when they turned up at ours, the decorator still there, DH had yet to give the decorator a lift home and I hadnt got ready yet! I told DH to f**k off on his own then after he had a go at me for no reason in front of them regarding the situation. I then went up stairs and cried quietly whilst throwing on some clean clothes, deo and makeup. DH did apologise when we got to the pub (very rare occurance, normally just pretends nothing happened whereas I am left hurt or angry by what he has said) as he had noticed I had been crying.

Saying that today DH had a go again about something else on the way out with my mum and dad to DIY places (they were in another car) because they took 15mins longer than they said they would to get ready. I of course cried (behind my sun glasses) after defending my corner (didnt like doing it in front of DS but he seemed oblivious). Didn't get an apology this time he just said "look I woke up in a bad mood, am still really ill and you just know how to wind me up" .

Forgot to say that DH has had severly swollen tonsils since Thursday. Finally going to doctors "drop in" session tomorrow to get it checked.

DS - Been very naughty at times today but some of it (not all) can be put down to him also being off colour, hungry and tired. DS went to bed no trouble but DH did let him (didnt realise) fall asleep on our bed watching his DVD with daddy. Hope it doesnt bite us in the arse tomorrow night.

Happy as going out for a meal with friends on Tuesday and another meal with mum and sister on Wednesday .

Thinking of booking myself in for waxing (1st time so OUCH), pedicure and manicure for a week on Tuesday when I will be 38wks. Good idea? But when I mentioned this to DH he said "what is with getting all beautified for having a baby?". This to be honest really hurt my feelings. He then said "well you do deserve to treat yourself (as I never do), go for it". Talk about split personalities.

LackaDAISYcal · 12/10/2008 20:52

vbab, DH and I had similar issues when I was pregnant with DD. After much soul searching on both our parts he eventually let it out that he was really scared about the effect another baby would have on his relationship with DS and that he was worried that he would'nt love him as much or would love the new baby more. I think it's quite common, for both men and women, but women tend to think about it all pregnancy and have rationalised it by the time the baby is born; whereas with men it doesn't hit until the baby is almost or actually here. And men being the emotional open books that they are tend to take it out on those around them rather than getting to the crux of the issue and talking about how they feel. him letting DS fall asleep on the bed is probably his way of spoling hima bit before the new baby arrives.

At least that's my pop psychology take on it anyway.

I hope it didn't spoil your night last night though.

Hello all
Sorry to hear of your troubles, vbab men can be very silly at times, and very hurtful.

I have been sleeping mainly, this weekend. I am quite frankly knackered. DH cleaned the kitchen from top to toe today, whih is fab, and took the children to the park all morning. WITHOUT BEING HUFFY ABOUT IT. This is a new development!!

lacks hope DD is feeling better. Not had a lot of vomitty messes (other than me) in our house, but they really are horrid when they happen.

much sympathy to all who need it for various aches, pains and ithchnesses.

sterillzer- I used the m/wave one, too. I'm just going with the little one that comes with my breastpump this time, as I hardly used it with DD. Once you get used to carrying baby around bfeeding bottles do seem like such a faff.

hana I got ome of those Boots gift cards from clients, I bought a few things but found it very handy after baby was born to get things as I needed them.

missygoo · 12/10/2008 21:41

I am sure I have missed out so much, it takes so lon to catch up with you guys and by the time i have, I have forotten all I have read!

What I have picked up is
sterilisers I just used the tommee tippee one too, back to nature, I think? Anyway it was the small box for the microwave and did the trick for me as I BF DD.

names I thought I was being really good and coming up with lesser known, or used, names. But my top 2 came in 31st and 25th most popular for 2 years.
Faves are Jacob, Josef and just thrown in recently by DH Samuel.
It is hard to get a name I like that goes with DD's (Bernadette) and means something that can reflect the strength of this LO's resiliance and sticking power.

Oh vbab it does sound like you have a harrassed DH there, who is not opening up and instead lashing out. I have one of those. Not at the mo, but that is his way of dealing with things when he feels stressed. I become his sounding board for his anger or upset, can be really hard at times.
at silly men who don't just speak out when they are worried

I am knackered!! I am actually sleeping Very well, so sympathies to those who aren't. I did try the pillow thing. My mum was so nice and went and got me one of those massive body pillows when they came in to Lidls, was really touched. But it is just a big old nuiscance and I just don't know if it helps at all
I am still sore at night though, just in my groin. It can be rather painful to turn over Don't know what the answer is.
I did mention it to the MW and docs in hospital but, cos it is no bother in day time, no-one seemed concerned.

I am trying to be so careful with myself, I may have taken it to far and am now becoming lethargic. DH had to force me to go out for a walk today. I just couldn't be bothered. It was lovely though.
for all you south with your lovely weather. We are defo in autumn now up here. Another reason I am loathed to leave the house.

Pinkyminkee · 12/10/2008 22:11

It's been pretty sunny here. We went out to a country park for the day yesterday, it was lovely. I went for as drink with some friends last night, too, but I think I wore myself out as today I was fairly useless. I know what you mean about feeling lethargic.

MerryMarigold · 12/10/2008 22:16

Just got myself a really expensive breast pump from ebay. Am determined to use it now as it was expensive, despite being 2nd hand (though nearly new apparently).

Am of y'all going out and doing nice things. I stayed inside ALL DAY! I watched 'the incredibles' all by myself (now how sad is THAT?) as dh took ds to a family party on the other side of London. I didn't go (the only thing I can bear to wear right now is a massive summer dress with no bra or pants!). Rash spreading impressively. I am quite pleased. At least it is beginning to look as bad as it feels. Another trip to doc tomorrow I think.

pinky, well done on all the sleeping. I have spent a lot of the weekend sleeping too, not sure if it's keeping me up at night, but feel like I have to catch up sometime and for some reason am finding a couple of short 'day sleeps' a lot easier than a whole night. Think I have to come up with something productive to do tonight! Maybe I will finally pack hospital bag stuff. Oh how I love leaving things till the last minute!

Pinkyminkee · 12/10/2008 22:24

So sorry the rash is getting worse, merrym. I hope the doc comes up with soemthing tomorrow.

I have come to the conclusion that my maternity jeans are now no longer comfortable. I couldn't wait to get into my pjs tonight. It's stertchy pants, leggings and big frocks from bhere on in, methinks!

pinkee, I'm with you there on the comfort thing. the jersey bit of my jeans just falls down now.

merryM, sorry the rash is getting worse . Were your blood results OK?

DD is up and being annoying. she has grizzled since bedtime so I've resorted to calpol and am waiting for her to flake out again.....she is running around throwing paperwork everywhere.

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 12/10/2008 22:34

hi misdee, I'm pairing people up with their text nos so that when they go into labour/hospital/have the baby, they can send a text to their buddy so we're not all sitting around wondering "oooh, where's misdee got to?".

do you want to join in, although I suspect Lisa or sparkly will be keeping us all updated re your baby

OP posts:
misdee · 12/10/2008 22:37

well i'm going for a homebirth, so will be posting between contractions. or as you say sparkly or lisa will keep people updated.

I am sorry that you have such a horrid sounding rash merry
I too am happiest when I get home and into my jammies, but then I always have been. I would watch Trinny and Suzannah and think I was so bad cos there would be times that that would be all DH would see me in!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/10/2008 23:47

email me with your mobile number (I'll delete all the emails afterwards) and your due date, and I'll pair you up with someone.
