summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

I haven't told my mum yet ... Not sure if that is a bad thing or not. What has everyone else done ? I'm visiting her on Sunday and will be 6+2 by then, so figure that is a good time.

DP and I had a bit of a discussion about this, as I don't want to tell his mum till after 12 weeks (she is Irish, with 3 boys, lives round the corner and is lovely, but fusses and fusses and won't leave me alone once she knows). I won the argument, based on saying that I needed to get the details from my mum of the history of pre-eclampsia on her side of the family before the first MW appt.

Am feeling a bit guilty now about now having already told my mum.

My boobs now keep me awake at night - very sore when sleeping on my side, so I'm going to try a sports bra. I also read somewhere that you can get a sort of cropped t shirt thingie that is called a sleep bra - probably from Mothercare. However, I'm really nervous of buying ANYTHING maternity or baby related till after I have a scan ....

Myneaux · 01/10/2008 14:37

How sore is sore exactly?

I am just over 5 weeks and desperately looking for symptoms. (this is my first, weve only been trying for a month so Im still in a state of disbelief !)

My boobs are a bit tender but only what you would get just before a period...other than that nothing !....I know I should be grateful I'm not throwing up but it would be nice to feel pregnant.

I have been very forgetful but not sure if thats just me.

Only told 1 other person so far....can wait to get to 12 weeks so I can blab !!

LittleSarah · 01/10/2008 15:18

Hello

Well wasn't planning on coming on here til 12 weeks but feck it. (This is because I miscarried on Feb 2009 thread a few months back).

Myneaux - I have very few symptoms, as yet, also am just over 5 weeks. Tiny bit of nausea and sore boobs a little last night. Last time I felt dreadful so don't know if I'm getting let off this time (with dd I had few symptoms) or if it's all to come...

I've also told a few people, parents, close friends, as I ended up telling them after I miscarried last time for support.

I'm most happy that I'm getting a scan in three weeks! Because of m/c of course. So I should get one at eight weeks and twelve. I really hope everything is fine at both. I'll be totally panicking each time.

Oh, my due date is 31st May, I'm 26 and have one dd, 4.

llynnnn · 01/10/2008 16:40

Hi all!
Can I join you? I got a bfp this morning!!going by my dates that makes me due on 5th June
Can't really believe it yet!! Def hasnt sunk in!!
The only symptom i have is sore bb's which only really feel as they do before af comes. i'm sure last time they hurt like mad, maybe they will get worse as the days go by!!!

I am 27 and have one dd who is 2

summerbird · 01/10/2008 18:34

Welcome llynnn and littlesarah

to be honest i have told pretty much everyone, the way i see it is if i tell one member of the family then they all find out and it ends up on facebook etc etc. also we are so excited we wanted to tell people. and finally if the worst does happen then at leas it is out in the open and we will have the support of friends and family, as well as the embarrassment of people putting their foot in it without knowing.

however i am lucky in one respect that we both live away from family - i agree with jools that it can get a bit overwhelming if family are constantly fussing

llynnnn · 01/10/2008 18:47

thanks summerbird, i have told my parents today and plan to tell pil and sisters tomorrow. i will probably end up telling most of my friends and rest of the family within a couple of weeks anyway!! once it has really sunk in! there's just work really that im in no rush AT ALL to tell as i dont think it will go down very well!!

Champagneforlunch · 01/10/2008 18:57

Can I join in too found out I'm due the start of June last week. Trying hard not to get too excited too soon as had mc in Feb but can't help it.
I've only told my parents and sister and Dh's boss at work at the moment. It did feel odd telling people who didn't even know I was pregnant I'd had a miscarriage so wouldn't bother about people knowing early. It would have been easier in some cases to explain what was happening if they had known in the first place.
Already been to the doctors and got a scan tomorrow just to check things out.

summerbird · 01/10/2008 21:00

welcome champagneforlunch i completely agree with you, my colleague had a MC in May and found it harder to tell people after the event, and is still struggling with it now, she wishes she had just told people earlier.

also i would let the cat out the bag straightaway by not drinking alcohol!! no amount of excuses gets me out of that one - i am the token lush!

Welcome llynnnn and Champagneforlunch and congratulations.

I'm still not telling anyone yet as I just dont quite believe it myself. We had DS and DD1 pretty quickly but it took about 2yrs of ttc before we had DD2, so although we wanted another baby we thought it might take a while again. My DH is cross he'll not get all the extra fun of ttc

Mind you my DH cant hold his own water and is off out tonight so I suppose the whole pub will know soon enough!

All being well I'm going to wait a couple of weeks and then go to the docs just to get referred on to the hospital.

Hope everyone is keeping well and remember we're another day closer...!

MrsMcJnr · 01/10/2008 23:11

Hello and congratulations everyone!! I?m sticking my toe in the water and coming over to join you, it?s still so early (think I?m about 5 weeks) but I have my 1st drs appointment tomorrow and am hoping for good news! Just to explain that, I have a blood clotting disorder so need to take aspirin and inject heparin throughout pregnancy to keep the placenta going but I can?t start injecting until they know that the baby is safely in my uterus and not ectopic so hopefully well know that by tomorrow night

This is baby number 2 for us (nicknamed ?B2? already ) we have a DS of 8 months who is amazing. Like you Dreamydorrie, we tried for DS for months and months (and lost our first baby at 13 weeks) but this time round, wow, I didn?t even have a period and only stopped breastfeeding 4 weeks ago! you?ll have a small gap between DCs like us

Looking forward to getting to know you all and hope we are all here for the longhaul! also nice to see so many ladies from the June conception thread!

Apart from feeling a bit like I am hung over and feeling tired, I don't really have many symptoms but I guess the metallic taste in my mouth is there and my sense of smell is really acute too (that drove me crazy last time - so many people have bad breath!!)

Added myself to the list:

Bumpsadaisie 28th May
Jools1 29th May (age 38, first one)
Myneaux 1st June
joyfuleyes 2nd June
summerbird 6th June (age 35, first one)
MrsMcJnr 6th June (age 34, DS 8mths (24/01/08)
Adie3 5th June (DS 5yrs, DD1 3.5yrs, DD2 9mths)
VickyJane77 7th June
DreamyDorrie 7th June (age 30, DD 19/11/07)
Aligard 8th June (one DD)

Jools1 · 02/10/2008 08:20

Hello MrsMcJnr - glad you found your way over here at last

Welcome to Bigcar, Lynnnnnn, ChampagneforLunch - those BFP's are coming thick and fast now

I predict we may have another arriving quite soon I do love still lurking on the Conception board and seeing the BFP's roll in - always brings a smile to my face as I know how I felt when I saw that pink line !

summerbird · 02/10/2008 08:57

welcome mrsmcjnr and morning everyone else!

i slept in my sports bra last night, it was actual bliss!!

also we BD'd last night, i was a bit scared and ran to the loo to check we hadnt dislodged it (pathetic i know! ) even though at first i said to DH 'dont worry the baby is safe and warm!!'

OP posts:
llynnnn · 02/10/2008 10:36

meant to say on my last msg, CONGRATULATIONS to everyone!!!

I still haven't called the doctors yet, I must do that today!! last time with dd my cycles were really long so there was a chance when I first got the bfp that i couldve been about 10 weeks pg already. they then got me in for a scan within a couple of weeks and i got to see my little pip at about 7weeks. this time I am going to have to wait until the end of november, which seems like SUCH a long way away!!

summerbird - you are braver than i am, even though i KNOW the baby will be fine, dh is getting the cold shoulder for a while now!! bless him!!

bigcar · 02/10/2008 11:26

Morning everyone!

Ha ha, expert, I wish!! Do you know, the hospital change the way they do everything each time, although I do now know quite a few of the midwives.

I finally got round to ringing the docs and am going on Tuesday, still in shock I don't have to wait at least a week!

I have dd1 18, dd2 9 (but thinks shes 16!), ds 8 and dd3 2.

We haven't told anyone yet, think we'll wait till after the 12 week scan, need some time for it all to sink in properly and prepare for all the daft comments. Mil on finding out I was pregnant last time managed an enthusiastic "not another one!". She loves dd3 to bits now though, as she does all the others.

summerbird · 02/10/2008 11:42

wow bigcar you are inspirational with four bubbas!!

llynnn i was panicking a bit though!

Have just come off a 3 hour conference call with colleagues across Europe - SUCH hard work trying to concentrate with all the different accents.

I had to go for a wee twice - put on speakerphone and muted, so they couldn't hear - was desperate !! Typical though - got asked a question whilst sat on the throne and had to respond with my trousers round my ankles !!!!!!

Definitely time for brunch now

Pregnancy brain this morning - I tried to wash my hair with shower gel and put shampoo on my sponge

Got my booking in appt on Oct 13th !!!!!

AliTheBard · 02/10/2008 13:49

Jools1 - you poor thing! Hope your day is brightening up now.

I had alarming shock this am when I bled on the loo. Thought at first I'd completely got things wrong and it was my period then realised it was ruddy piles - already!! Surely it's unfair for them to kick in so early? (Then again I never really recovered from DD1...)

Oh yes, additional details for The List. I'm 34 with one DD of 2yrs (May 06).

AliTheBard
(previously AliGard - but I suddenly got fed up with that nickname. I'll stick to this one now. Sorry to be confusing!)

summerbird · 02/10/2008 13:51

poor ali and jools although i do confess that jools' story had me in tears laughing!!!

ali hope you dont suffer too much with old johnny giles

OP posts:
AliTheBard · 02/10/2008 13:58

Thanks summerbird

I can't really complain as it doesn't hurt or anything, just bleeds rather alarmingly. Last time, other than that, I had a very easy pregnancy (and labour!) so fingers crossed this one will be likewise.

In a bizarre way, it makes me feel more PG...

Jools1 · 02/10/2008 14:52

Well if you can't laugh at yourself, its time to worry

I finally got to have lunch, only to decide I didn't want anything I had in - tried a couple of things but just couldn't bear to put it in my mouth - bit odd - and am now feeling over-full and a bit nauseous.

I'm working at home today - did have 3/4 length trousers on, but decided it was just too cold and time to break out the jeans for the first time since May - my snug hipsters are now at the back of the wardrobe, probably not to see the light of day for another year and I'm now back in size 18's - still quite baggy fortunately, but I nearly threw them out a few months ago because they were too big ! I am beginning to wonder where all this extra belly is coming from - bloating, or perhaps there is more than one in there ..... they do say that the likelihood of twins increases with older geriatric mums

bigcar · 02/10/2008 15:09

Don't say that jools, I'm 37 and feeling rather ancient mature! Your last post did make me laugh though, sounds like you might have to make contingency plans for future long phone calls!

VickyJane77 · 02/10/2008 15:50

Hello ladies,
Sorry I've not posted on here much, but I'm just a little anxious. I am really pleased that I'm pg but don't want to get too excited until I'm 12 weeks. Me and DH haven't talked about it much yet, he just says we'll take it a day at a time. He did buy me a lovely bunch of flowers the day we found out, bless him.
I've got the doctors tomorrow, so it I will talk to her about my mc fears, plus it may start to feel a bit more real then. It's weird, I'll be doing everyday stuff, then remember I've got a little bean in my tummy, which makes me smile.
Nice to see some more BFP's.....congrats. x

llynnnn · 02/10/2008 19:16

Jools - i was like that last time, couldnt decide what i fancied to eat, lost my appetite for the first trimester really!! hope that happens again! I could do with losing a bit lol!

vickyjane - your dh sounds lovely, hope you get on well at the docs tomorrow

bigcar - wow! 4 kids, really dont know how you manage, i'm already getting anxious at the thought of having 2!!

well, i called the docs this afternoon and asked to make an app with the midwife. the rude receptionist asked me how any tests i'd done and i said only one, she said 'well, make sure you do another before your appointment to make sure!!' talk about bursting my bubble, she made me think i was making it all up and wasting HER time!! grrr! anyway, she got me in next monday aft!

Sorry for waffling, best go help dh put dd to bed!!

summerbird · 02/10/2008 20:09

blimey llynnn what a rude receptionist, my mum is a practise manager and said that her surgery are much more supportive and get you to the midwife at 8 weeks etc.

i just had a lovely chinese takeaway tonight - avoided the prawn toasts though but the curry was yummy!
