summerbird · 27/09/2008 15:37

Hi there

Did the test last night even though DH wanted me to wait a few days. I wanted to just do it to see if i could have a glass of wine or not and hoo-bloody-rah after 6 months of TTC number one i got a BFP on the free ClearBlue digital test!

So need to get a GP appointment but reckon i am due on 5 June 2009.

Anyone want to join me?

Hey everyone

Nice to see the June thread so busy....even if we have got a long way to go we can keep each other company.

I am officially 6 weeks pregnant today and and finally starting to feel 'different' (tho not sure exactly if I feel pregnant !)

Is everyone else suffering from terrible bloating and funny cramps...feel like I am popping out of my trousers already...think the skinny jeans will be languishing at the back of the wardrobe for a while.

Can any of you more experienced ladies tell me how long the sore boobs last for?...surely it cant be like this for the next 8 months. But on the plus side I do think they are a bit bigger (trust me...when you are only a B cup on a good day every bit extra counts !).

I have my booking appt with the midwife tomorrow so will hopefully have lots to report.

travellinglight · 06/10/2008 14:32

Hi - positive test this morning. I calculate my due date as 13 June.

V excited but dp doesn't want to tell anyone else so posting here so I can go on about it! It's our second and we've been trying for 6 months. I'm 40 so was getting worried. Now of course worried about all that might go wrong from here - but apart from that, overjoyed!

VickyJane77 · 06/10/2008 16:24

Congratulations travellinglight. That's the good thing about here, we can all chat away about our early pregnancies, whilst no one else knows, I love it.
Well I'm still getting so tired around about 2 pm, and occasionally feel sick and have the tingly (.)(.), but it all makes me smile, cos it's all for a lovely reason.

llynnnn · 06/10/2008 16:48

congratultaions travellinglight!! hope you are feeling well

i've just had my initial app with the midwife. nothing much too report really, she weighed me (not so good!!) and took my main details. she calc my due date as 1st June so I can only just be on this thread!! should get my scan date and booking-in app through in the next couple of weeks. she also said i would be under consultant care as i had a c-section with my dd. not really sure how much diff this makes tho!!
i also asked her about my pains and she said they are totally normal and just everything moving into place and starting to stretch already! so that has put my mind at rest!!

myneaux - i already feel really bloated too, but then i cant stop eating so that wont be helping!! i'm sure by sore bb's went after the few trimester really, they def didnt stay as bad as at first!! good luck with your app tomorrow.

thanks mum2becks, hope everything goes well for you

hope everyone else is well today

hi there,
I am due on the 4th june i have known for 2 weeks so excited but anxious too.

Had what i thought was some spotting it looked kinder brown (not to sound crude or anything) the doc says it could be the implanting of the egg.

Anyone else been through that???

pmcd · 06/10/2008 17:18

Hi, i had the same problem last year. brown staining went on for several weeks from about week 8 to week 16. was really worried as i'd had a mc earlier in the year. everything was fine and i had my little girl in march!

leaky · 06/10/2008 20:09

Hi everyone

Aren't we all so fortunate to be on this thread....I just love it

Myneaux about the boobs thing,I can't remember how long it lasts from my past 2 pregnancies.I suppose everyone's different.I don't notice mine too much at the moment(5wks+4)unless my youngest comes & lays on top of me for a cuddle....ouch!

If you think they're sore now just wait til your milk comes in then you'll wonder how long that pain will last! The memories I have of that....I got up off the sofa & thought my breast pad had moved upwards (baby 3 days old). When I looked down my boobs were HUGE & rock hard. You have to experience that to appreciate it!

Then there's the memories of leaning over the bathroom sink trying to massage & soften my bazooka's which were so full of milk....oh yes,& waking up & the boob on the side I'd slept on would be hard & squashed, & the bed would be wet!!

You lot have got SOOO much to look forward to,haha

Travellinglight welcome I'm 39, 40 in January & it's my 3rd

NotSoRampantRabbit · 06/10/2008 20:50

Cripes. Am pregnant.

Only had a very half-hearted first month of trying.

Same thing happened last time with DS (3 years).

DH is strutting.

I am flapping.

In shock.

Myneaux · 07/10/2008 09:03

Gosh...NotSoRampantRabbit that truly does sound awful .

Am quite looking forward to them growing but not sure I'll know what to do with them if they get too big !

summerbird · 07/10/2008 09:12

thanks for the heads up leaky i am 5+4 and have already noticed little white spots on my nipples in the morning which go away quite quickly, i guess thats the milk forming!

congrats to the newbies notsorampantrabbit gems and travellinglight god it is a bit scary isnt it?

i am feeling a bit bereft as my midwife doesnt want to see me until after my first scan, i think that is a bit rubbish with it being my first and all that, but dont want to make a fuss!

Jools1 · 07/10/2008 10:08

Oh how annoying about the MW Summerbird My GP told me I wouldn't see the midwife until 12 weeks, so I was amazed to get an appointment for Monday when I'll only be 7+3

My mum reckons they probably decided to see me earlier because I'm an "old" first-timer !

Myneaux · 07/10/2008 11:13

Hi summerbird...that is annoying !

I am seeing the midwife today for my booking appointment at only 6 weeks. When the doctor said to make an appointment straight away I was v surprised....but apparently they see you straight away at my surgery.

In some ways its great but at the same time I am trying very hard to keep a lid on the excitement especially at this point when anything could happen.....and I am sure that I will have more questions in a few weeks once it has sunk in...so it might be better to wait. (Or maybe its because Im a bit older too....32 and my first)

(which reminds me....must go and wee in the bottle

Jools1 · 07/10/2008 11:23

Talking of weeing in a bottle - my letter tells me to bring a sample in a suitable container but doesn't specify size - I presume the standard sample one you get from Boots is big enough ?

Stoopid question I know, but its been bugging me !

tessofthedurbervilles · 07/10/2008 11:30

Haven't got my date yet but been to docs....boobs are huge and sore and I feel sick and cannot stand smells at the moment! xxx

Myneaux · 07/10/2008 12:36

Hi Jools1...the bottle they gave me is about the length of your finger and a bit fatter (cant think of any other way to describe it !) - so think thats the standard size if that helps.

Good job it isnt any bigger....my aim isnt good enough !

summerbird · 07/10/2008 12:38

I am 35 and it is my first pregnancy which surprised me that i dont need to see a midwife. I feel pretty much left to my own devices for three months. But then again i would feel silly if i asked for an appointment if there is no reason for it...

anwyay - onwards and upwards - it is only 6 weeks and 3 days until i am at the 12 week mark! woo hoo

bigcar · 07/10/2008 12:46

Afternoon everyone!

That's right jools, don't think you have to fill it, half is usually more than enough. Hope you get on ok. Don't forget to get them to fill in the maternity exemption certificate so you don't have to pay for prescriptions.

Jools1 · 07/10/2008 13:07

I've already got my exemption certificate !! It was filled in by my GP and I signed it then - I guess 3 weeks ago now. The certificate arrived in the post yesterday - quite a surprise !!

travellinglight · 07/10/2008 14:21

Hi again. Summerbird, don't worry about not seeing MW until after 1st scan. I didn't with my first and it makes sense really - there is nothing much they can do except look at urine and bp. In terms of information at this stage, the Babycentre website is good. Or I liked the book, Your Pregnancy Week by Week. It gives you something new to read about each week!

Saw my GP this am just to get in the system. I'm London based and planning to have 2nd -as first - at UCH. They were great last time and now have a spanking new building. GP told my dd that she'll have a new brother or sister. She's only 16 months so it probably didn't register! - but we'd decided not to talk about it yet so as not to confuse her. I'd rather the GP hadn't really...I am being silly I know but my main worry at the moment is the impact this may all have on dd. She is so used to all our attention.

llynnnn · 07/10/2008 17:32

I too worry about that travellinglight, my dd is 2.3 and gets ALL the attention from us and her grandparents (she is the only child on all sides of the family!) really dont know how she will cope next year. she loves babies when my friends bring theirs round etc and is really gentle, think it will a whole new ball game when it is about the whole time though!

Summerbird - i have seen my midwife, but they really didnt do anything much, just registered my details. it must be a bit dispointing though as it adds to the excitememnt having regular appointments to attend and discussing the dates etc. it still amazes me how much the care differs depending which area of the country you live in!! u have us to chat too though!

ewwww weeing in a bottle! the worst part of pregnancy!! i hate handing it over to the midwife!! they must get so sick of seeing other womens wee!!

jools - thanks for the reminder i must send my exemption form off tomorrow!!

I have felt soooooo moody today!! like really bad pmt. i have been feeling annoyed at such stupid little things and having to bite my tongue to stop me saying anything!! it even annoyed me how one of my colleagues pronounced a particular word earlier!!

summerbird · 07/10/2008 17:56

My GP started completing the exemption form but then said it was pointless doing so until i need a prescription, i wonder if i should go in to my GP agai and get one to send off

thanks for the reassurance llynnn and travellinglight i did wonder what i was missing out on but as you say i can chat on here and i have my mum and mother in law to gas to!

boundoriginals · 07/10/2008 18:14

took a test on Friday - positive- and am now total scared! My first thought was - aaaah I am going to have to give birth in less than nine months time!

I guess I'm about 4-5 weeks so it makes it a June baby.

I'm really pleased everyone shres everything on here - I have so many questions, but bcause it's so early I haven't told anyone, so hve no-one to ask.

My biggest problem at the moment is that I have developed a major cold (with a temperature) and a major major hacking dry cough which has pulled all themuscles in my stomach.

This weknd i also went through the cramps down below - that felt slightly like the beginning of a period - i beleive that is nothing to worry about - but am scared the coughing has dislodged the baby! sounds stupid, I'm sure, but my torso aches and have coughed so hard i've made myself sick. Scared the baby is saying - 'uh oh - not hanging around in here!' and i have coughed it loose.

Someone please tell me i'm being paranoid/totally stupid

onehitwonder · 07/10/2008 18:51

Hello

Got a BFP this morning also using the freebie clearblue. In shock really as after months of bd with no protection, but not really trying, we used a clearblue surge detector thingy after last af and hey presto . I was on the June 05 post natal threads with DD who is now 3 and a bit, so funny to find myself on the June 09 thread.
Estimate my due date as 18th June, which is within less than a week of DDs birthday, which could be interesting!
I have name changed as my normal posting name is way too close to my real name and a few rl friends know I post here.
No real symptoms yet, but had what I think was an implantation bleed last Thurs, so it is early days for me (will be 4 weeks on Thursday).
I can't remember when the nausea and sore boobs started last time, any ideas?

Looking forward to chatting on here, as have decided to wait until 12 weeks before telling family etc (then again that was the plan last time .

NickelSodium · 07/10/2008 19:00

Hello!

I found out I was pregnant last week and am due on 12 June - my birthday! Saw my GP yesterday and it looks like I won't have another appointment until I'm 10-12 weeks (that's not what the book said).

Reading all your posts has been a great help and answered many of my many, MANY questions. Quite glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels like they've got a huge pot belly already - if I carry on like this I'll have trouble getting through the door by January.

Felt very slightly queezy last week but nothing this week - should I be worried or is that delight yet to come?

Don't worry boundoriginals, I don't know much about pregnancy but I'm getting an achey crampy feeling too and I haven't even had a cold.

helpivegottogivebirth · 07/10/2008 19:01

i've had sore boobs for about 3 weeks - it comes and goes. today they are ok - though the other morning i sat up in bed and almost fell over with the shock of the pain!

No nausea yet - though i did wake the other morning at 3 am and felt a bit sick - this was before i knew i was preggy. Put it down to DH's really horrible southern fried chicken supper he made me eat. Think that is most likely the cause.

Feel like i have period pain cramps starting though. is this normal? am i shedding my embryo?
