GreenFingeredMummy · 30/09/2008 19:51

Its defo not a good idea to miss a couple of days, its taken me ages to read all the posts, and now my nauseas back!

Big hi to all the newbies, nice to see someone else due on the 20th.

My MS showed up yesterday, and there was me thinking I might escape it I've felt really off all day, only cheese flavoured crisps seem to be easy it, anyone else craving cheesy wotsits?!?!?!? Be all round town trying to find a maternity coat, guess they dont expect us to wear a coat. Come back empty handed, with sore feet and a worn out dd.

Dont suppose anyone else is trying to find work, how exactly do you apply for jobs knowing you feel totally crap and Ive got my second driving lesson tomorrow, just hope I feel better and dont make a mess of the car!

On the questions of baths, enjoy them now, you wont have the time when lo arrives, sure the other mums will agree

SpangleMaker · 30/09/2008 20:11

greenfingeredmummy good luck with the driving lesson. I only passed my test a little over a year ago, and I can remember how much like hard work the lessons seemed even when not pg. I used to have 2hr sessions and was wiped out afterwards!

Good luck with the job hunting also. Not looking myself but we are getting scared DH might be - his business is so quiet at the moment and we are trying to work out how much savings/debt we can afford to put into it, if it comes to that, until things improve

pulapula · 30/09/2008 20:11

I love hot baths, and tried to avoid them during last 2 pg, but couldn't help myself- as soon as water started cooling, I'd top it up. Sometime felt dizzy and hot after too but made me feel much better in general. At least in late pg you can tell when baby might be a bit p*ed off ie kicking a lot and get out sooner if you are worried.

SpangleMaker · 30/09/2008 20:12

'DH might have to be', that should say

OP posts:
GreenFingeredMummy · 30/09/2008 20:17

Its certainly hard enough being pregnant never mind working out how gonna afford it all. Thats the prob with things when they're not planned!

Hoping to get some work over the xmas and maybe dh might get a payrise... or not! Damn credit crunch!

runningmonkey · 30/09/2008 20:33

Greenfingeredmummy - good luck with the driving lessons, my mum apparently passed her driving test two weeks before she had me so there is hope even with pregnancy brain!

I'm worrying about money as well - our house is tiny and so really need to move but not sure we'll even be able to sell it/get a mortgage with all the stuff going on at the moment. No idea where we'd put a baby, let alone pram, cot, nappies if we don't move tho!

Jools1 · 30/09/2008 20:35

Part of the reason I'm going to be 39 when this baby arrives is that there is never a right time - we never felt financially able to have a baby - DP had a bad time at work, took them to tribunal and won, then took some time out, couldn't get back into the job market, got sick and is now back at work, but only temping on a low wage.

I knew I couldn't afford to give up work as I was paying the mortgage, and also couldn't see how I could fit in looking after a child AND working full-time

A few months ago though, it really did feel like a case of now or never so here I am DP has a better job - not great but improved and my job has changed, meaning that I can work locally for most of the week - getting rid of the commute saves time and huge amounts of money, so I'm hoping this is all coming together finally

mags98 · 30/09/2008 21:12

Feeling a bit anxious today - I had what I thought was really bad stomach cramps most of the day. Now though I'm not sure but I think it is more likely actually lower back pain as it mostly went away as soon as I stretched out and lay down. Must have been the 4 1/2 hrs I have spent in the car on and off during the day I reckon. Anyone else got backache?

Then to top it all this morning I had the faintest of faint brown stuff, so now of course, and especially given that I have no sypmtoms at all, that must be the end of things, again.

Well home now and feeling a bit more rational, but it is a worry.

Scan tomorrow (private one) when I reckon I should be 7 weeks - am hoping all will be OK but can't help thinking it won't be...

Wish me luck!

I am definitely having a hot bath later to try and ease the backache - I love baths and have have had one every day for nearly 36 years and I don't intend to stop now!

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 21:14

Jools - you'll find a way to make things work. Before I had my first I worried about affording him. Somehow we managed. Since then I've been medically retired from my last job and am living on a pension!!! Ha Ha - just thought - am I the only pensioner here gonna be a mum!! By the way I'm 39!! I also have started up own company, working all the hours and yet to take a wage from the damn thing! But hopefully in the next while thing's will get on the up!

Anyone else watch Holby City and the seperation of the siamese twins? OK I know it's only a TV show... but makes you wonder how you'd cope if it were you... Will watch tomorrow to see the outcome.

Away to finish off my toffee yoghurt... after going out earlier for an Indian.. Oh I had Lamb Tikka Patia - delicious.. but I ate too much and nearly hurled it!TMI!! I'm so so greedy... blame it on the nausea just wish my DH understood more about the nausea.

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 21:17

Oh Mags - I really hope everything's OK for you.
Try and have an early relaxed night.. get some quality sleep if you can. At least you've got a scan tomorrow to let you know what's going on in there.
Go easy on the hot water. Hot water lowers your blood pressure and increases your pulse and core temperature.. I'll see if I can find out how it affects pregnancy..

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 21:32

I FOUND OUT SOME INFO ON THE HAZARDS OF HOT BATHS. PLEASE READ BELOW

Q: I've heard that it's dangerous to use a hot tub or sauna, or even to have a hot bath when you're pregnant is this true?
A: Research has shown that if your body temperature is raised to over 38.9ºC and kept there for a period of time, either in a hot tub, a hot bath, a sauna or a steam room then it can be potentially dangerous for a developing embryo particularly in the early stages. However it can take up to 10 minutes for the body to reach this temperature after being submerged in water and for most people this would feel uncomfortable and you would need to get out so if you have already being using a hot tub before finding out you are pregnant there is probably little cause for concern. Also, being pregnant you are at higher risk from dehydration and dizziness and therefore it may be wise to avoid saunas and stream rooms for the duration of your pregnancy

I WILL KEEP ON LOOKING FOR MORE INFO!!

That's the web site where I got this info

Also the above info on hot baths... willI keep going??

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 21:38

LAST ONE I PROMISE is from www.drphil.com/articles/article/288
(There's other uselful info here too)

Pregnant women shouldn't take baths.

False. Pregnant women shouldn't take HOT baths.

Explanation: Women are told not to take baths because HOT water ? over 98 degrees ? is unfavorable to the pregnancy. Taking a warm (NOT HOT!) bath with someone to help you get in and out of the bath safely can help:

Decrease uncomfortable swelling in arms and legs.
Increase the amniotic fluid.
Prevent premature contractions.
Help the mother relax and alleviate anxiety about the health of her baby.

This is also why swimming is such a great pregnancy exercise.

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 21:42

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 21:58

Can anyone remember who mentioned the website that does gorgeous maternity underwear? Please own up - I need something that doesn't look like a JCB bucket! At least a bucket with lace and flowers would be better!!

divedaisy · 30/09/2008 22:00

I think I'm talking to myself now...! Hello!! Is there anyone out there?....

I was looking forward to some chat.

Nite nite.

Jennster · 30/09/2008 22:01

Just off to bed to read

Momino · 30/09/2008 22:16

bet you've all gone to bed, o' lucky ones. I've got an hour or so of work still to do. Am tired but too stressed to sleep anyway. have my booking in appt tomorrow and realise i don't have a container to collect my wee! do you think that's important? I'm hoping I can produce a sample on request upon my arrival. oh, dignity lost.

How's everyone? guess i'll scan the posts to see....

Momino · 30/09/2008 22:20

Divedaisy, you're prob now off to bed, but I'm seriously giggling at your line of posts. wish i'd been around.

incidentally, I have wondered about the hot bath thing so thanks for the valuable advice. looks like baths are out for me then since i can only sit in a hot bath (warm won't do).

pulapula · 30/09/2008 22:36

Not in bed yet. Finding it hard to sleep at the moment. Still waiting to hear the outcome of my job interview a week ago and can't really settle or concentrate properly at work til i know. Should hopefully find out tomorrow (not expecting to get the job as could have done better in interview). Just want to know...grrrrr....

SpangleMaker · 30/09/2008 22:46

mags98 best of luck for your scan tomorrow. Aches, pains and spotting are very common at this stage, so try not to worry (difficult I know).

divedaisy thanks for digging out all that info re baths - I've been really fancying one but haven't dared just in case.

pulapula fingers crossed for good news from your job interview.

night everyone x

divedaisy I think it's called - ahem - Hot Milk

MsG · 01/10/2008 00:27

mags98, hope tomorrow is ok - let us know.

divedaisy, cheers for the info. I did read somewhere that hot baths could increase the chances of early miscarriage but I don't know what the percentages are or how much research has been done - will just avoid them anyway to be safe.

pulapula, hope you get the job - you never can tell. I hate waiting for news like that!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy, thanks for suggesting windease - will try them if the trapped wind doesn't calm down soon. I too have had an itchy boob today! Funny.

Night, all. xx
