CantSleepWontSleep · 30/09/2008 22:02

Another plus point is that your waters have gone at home, rather than in front of your class, which you didn't want .

07mumstheword · 30/09/2008 22:03

Gosh Star/CSWS just to clarify I wasn't suggesting you have a bath that was just for me (selfish!) as my waters haven't broken and it helped me last time.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/09/2008 22:03

It would be utterly pointless to tell you to go to bed and get some sleep wouldn't it? That would be the best thing really.

jenwa · 30/09/2008 22:09

star
I have to log off now so will come on in the morn and see how you are doing.
I hope things go well for you and that you get the birth and pain relief you want. I am sure you will be fine though and I will be thinking of you.
Just dont panic and look after yourself

star6 · 30/09/2008 22:11

Thank you!
I just spoke to the hospital again... the lady barely speaks english and wasn't understanding me and didn't remember me from when i called an HOUR ago!! She said to make my way into the hospital within the next hour so they can check me over and that they will be using a speculum!

star6 · 30/09/2008 22:13

I was out this afternoon from school and I told all the kids... very clearly... just because I'm out this afternoon, it does NOT mean I'm having the baby. I will be back tomorrow morning. Now they will think I lied!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/09/2008 22:15

Well that's good star. The speculum will be so that they can see if you are dilated at all. Now take all your stuff with you in case you end up staying in, but don't be forced into anything that you don't want. If you're not sure that you want something to happen, then just ask 'what if I don't agree to that? What are the risks?' and make sure that they answer you properly.

Star You will be in the best place and being checked over is so reassuring. Will be thinking of you and look forward to hearing the next installment

Emmsy1 · 30/09/2008 22:19

star hope your ok hun, try and stay calm ,I know it's easier said than done but just remember that you are soon going to be holding your beautiful baby, the most precious gift that a woman can be given, treasure that memory and focuss on the end result xxx

Honeymoonmummy · 30/09/2008 22:44

Sorry to ask something so boring with this excitement, but if I dont ask now, I'll completely forget to!!!

Has anyone used the natal hypnotherapy birth CD and was it any good? And do you need to get the music CD as well? And have I left it too late as I'm nearly 36 weeks???

pingviner · 30/09/2008 22:46

Good luck Star - hope it goes well!

Feeling oddly gloomy today - went for scan (37 weeks)and baby is massive (95th centile) best news is we are both well and healthy but Im only about 5 ft tall and thats if I stretch the truth a little Family history of lots of birth traumas... This is my first so I have no idea how my body is going to cope: How exactly can I pull this size of rabbit out of a small hat? Trying not to moan -obviously there are worse things in this world but starting to feel a bit of trepidation...

Any ideas?

star6 · 01/10/2008 00:18

Well, I'm home. They said waters have definitely gone... I keep losing more with every cramp. I'm getting cramps really often but she said when they get more intense, last a full minute and come every 4-5 minutes, then I should call again and come in. She did a Group B strep swab and said that if I don't go into "established labour" within 18 hours (thursday morning at 8am) they will put me on a drip to reduce risk of infection from GBS just in case and then in 48-72 hours, if no labour then they will induce. She thinks I'll not be needing induction... me either... these cramps are horrible!!

star6 · 01/10/2008 00:29

she also told me to just tell the reception that I am absolutely sure I want an epidural and to go directly to delivery suite... not the natural area where I had just been. Everyone kept saying, "why are you sad? there's nothing wrong"... ummmm, I'm 2 weeks earlier than I thought, completley unprepared mentally and in pain!! Is this really normal to keep losing water every time a cramp comes?? They really hurt!

star6 · 01/10/2008 01:23

have soaked through three pair of trousers now. Cramps unbearable.

star6 · 01/10/2008 01:54

1st timers should know that those big pads are not only for after the birth bleeding... they are also for pre birth when about a glassful of water empties with every contraction every 5 minutes. beginning to think there's no baby in there... just water!
btw - the midwives there are LOVELY.

ToThrottleABlackBird · 01/10/2008 01:56

Hiya everyone, its knickersOnMaHead.

Star, if they are really that bad now then go into hospital now.

I dunno about waters as mine went after dd came out.

Good luck xxxxxxxx

star6 · 01/10/2008 02:02

they said don't call back unless they are a full minute and 4-5 min apart. they are not a full minute in duration yet. we'll see how much more I can handle, though...

usuallytooshytochat · 01/10/2008 04:58

Any insomniacs here today? I seem to lie awake for hours every night - and things that didn't bother me in the day bug me at 4 am.
Today hospital phoned to say I'm carrying GBS - it doesn't sound too serious, but can't stop worrying about it. Does anyone else have this?

Star - good luck for today - those painful cramps are probably doing really good work opening your cervix. Hope it goes well for you.

Emmsy1 · 01/10/2008 05:19

UTSTC I too wake up at silly times, usually because my little ones come into my bed then I can't sleep Yes I have GBS nothing to worry about, it's very common, it just means that when you go into labour that you will be given a dose of anti-biotics straight away via drip, and then again 4 hours later, the drip will be disconected after the first dose (so you don't have to stay hooked up!) It's just to ensure that you don't pass it on to your baby during delivery (that's the scary part) don't worry if you deliver before anti-biotics are given, they will then have to give baby anti-biotics instead, they will keep a close eye on baby's temp etc...

star are you still around hun?

honeymoonmummy sorry, I haven't watched the CD that your on about. Don't suppose it matters how late you watch them as long as you absorb the info and try out the precedures, good luck!

Emmsy1 · 01/10/2008 05:25

pingviner try not to worry about the size of your baby. I have heard of short people giving birth to large baby's without any problems. Think it's down to the size and shape of your pelvis, I'm sure that if the doc was worried he would have suggested a C-Sec. If you are still worried hun, ring the ante-natal unit and express your concerns, maybe they will see you again and scan you to ensure that pelvis is the right size to allow LO out, best wishes x
