Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

Morning all!

Yay for being 34 weeks Vbab!! Sounds like you are finally moving in the right direction, even if it will take you to 39 weeks!

Oblomov, sorry to hear about your swelling, hope you feel better this morning.

MerryMarigold, I am also jealous of you having a dh who agreed to the snip, I also have hubby who point blank refuses. He won't be too happy when I point blank refuse to DTD with him then!

If I have my way, this will be the last baby for us. This pregnancy, although has been fairly straight forward, has been harder somehow than my last 2, perhaps mentally, worrying about having another poorly child, but I seem to have had a lot more physical discomforts, or maybe I just forgot from the last 2 times. Besides, I think 3 is enough and at the moment, the 3rd is going to really stretch things financially.

I have an appt to see the midwife this afternoon. Fingers crossed my fundal height measurements have slowed down somewhat and that she can get me in for a growth scan this week as we are away next week. Besides, I am 34+5 today and need to have the scan and bloods ect to make sure I can go ahead with my homebirth. I guess my next appt will be at 36+5 and after that, I was told I could go either weekly or just pop in when I feel the need for a check as with my 3rd baby she feels I know what warning signs to look out for and it is getting increasingly difficult for me to drag myself and 2 kids to the dr's surgery with me on a weekly basis.

Right, I am supposed to be taking up curtains that I meant to do last year! Started one last night, but need to measure the other against it before hemming the bottom back up.

chocolategal · 22/09/2008 10:30

morning everyone

quite a chatty few days again!
i admire anyone who is going to ikea at all whilst pregnant, i find it hard enough when not!

Oblomov,i am getting really swollen too, was at MW for 32wk check this morning and she wasnt concerned at all.

lots of name changes....just to make it harder to keep up!

well thats me off work, have taken 4weeks annual leave and 4 weeks maty.
think its quite early as feeling well but after my running to the cardiac arrest the other week have decided its best to be off!

vbab, wish i lived near to help you out as i am just sitting watching daytime tv!!

chocolategal · 22/09/2008 10:31

meant to say am also feeling rather happy with myself as got my secret stork gift over the weekend

vbab78 · 22/09/2008 11:33

chocolategal - Thanks for your offer of help if you lived closer. Really sweet. Although I must admit that I haven't cracked on with undercoating baby's nursery. I am meant to being doing it while DS at nursery this AM. I don't suppose a couple of days delay will matter much especially as the carpet wont be arriving for over another week.

I'm using the excuse of being exhausted due to the pain I was suffering through the night . Although probably true. But I have done my other chores just not the big important one of the undercoating.

ChocOrange05 · 22/09/2008 11:35

Morning everyone - just popping in to say hi!

Just been giving myself a pat on the back as we have bought the Isofix for our car at the weekend which means we now have everything on our baby shopping list!! Yay me ! Now we just have to wait for bump to arrive to realise what we don't have that we didn't know we needed!

Pinkyminkee · 22/09/2008 11:37

Hi all
Yay Chocolategal, good for you going on mat leave!

All so busy. I'm having terrible trouble getting to sleep at the mo, but not enough energy to get up and do something which is what I'd normally do. Very frustrating!

sorry to hear you are so uncomfy, VBAB.At least you DH has now got his finger out and is getting on with the All The Jobs That Need Doing (every man's arch nemesis!)

Oblomov sorry I was noo help re:the oedema. I thought the MW would have been more concerned/sympathetic as they always ask if I have it when I go for check up.
I didn't swell up after my elcs, mainly I think because I was more mobile and I had one of those beds that you can press the button to lift your legs up. All I can think of is elevating you legs and trying that massage that lacks suggests. I'm guessing that so long as there are no other symptoms (headaches etc.) it's not a medical worry per se, but it's not very pleasant.

missygoo · 22/09/2008 11:56

She just asked me outright, about my nickname, I couldn't think fast enough (never can) to either lie or say I'd rather not say.
She flummoxed me.
She mightn't even look into it, but there again she may.
But then again if she has, then she coudl easily follow this thread and find out my name change
What do you do??

I told my mum that I had been experiencing the SPD type pains and poor mammy was on the phone this morning having been on the net finding things out.
Saying that I would have to look out for going up steps (we are an upstairs downstairs) and I might have to move myself into hers (a bungalow) if it all got too bad, or was it that bad already? Discussions on how bad it can get, perhaps it was cos DD's birth got a little (well quite a lot) tramatic in the end, this could be why I am havig probs now?
How the MW just gave a wee smile when I told her about the uncomfortableness of it and that I have to make sure that she takes me seriously this time.
Ah, bless I love my mummy!!

But I am now a little worried about having my natural birth what if this SPD gets worse and they say I can't do it, or I simply realise I can't do it? What if a natural birth ruptures something.
Talking of scary ruptures. TMI alert!
How are people doing with their no2's? Mine are a nightmare! Constipation followed by big poo's making sore piles ouch!
They are scary, both the piles and teh scary big poos.
DH, DD and I all have the same diet though, so it must either just be me, or pregnancy that is causing it, all is not good

Maybe I am sharing too much!

missygoo · 22/09/2008 12:01

Oh vbab I meant to say, are your sure you should be doing the glossing I did the bottom half of my hall (Top half still needs doing!) when pregnant with DD and ended up hanging over the loo the next day.
I did suffer with HG in the beginning of that pregnancy though, so it could be that I was still sensitive, but don't suppose the crawling about floors, or the smell, is gonna do you any favours. Espesh as you have been having turns whilst peeling spuds

Just a thought and a worry from missygoo.
What do you all think of that name, BTW? I can't decide.

chocolategal · 22/09/2008 12:08

missygoo i like the name but then i liked the old one too

not sure about the piles but im with ya on the constipation!!
now im off no excuse for not eating better so i will see if that helps!

chocorange the isofix thingy is the last thing on my list to get too, well like you say of the things we can think of just now!

well that is except my hospital bag!
that is this weekends mission....

Pinkyminkee · 22/09/2008 12:11

poor you, how cheeky to ask your name like that, not really form. I've spoken about ment to mummies at groups and we never ask nicknames.

I quite like missygoo but I really liked Twinkling.

re birth and SPD isn't there some sort of belt thingy you put around the top of you legs to stop you over stretching during labour? I'm sure this was mentioned at birthing class as there was a lady there with SPD. You need a serious chat with a good MW about it, methinks.

missygoo · 22/09/2008 12:49

I know, I thought it was a bit much, not form, to ask my nickname, but when put on the spot like that, what can you do?

I thought about sparklingfairy but is that to close, do you think?

Yeah I am defo gonna be asking some questions next time I see a MW. I mean, it is only me who is saying that it is SPD, they may decide otherwise

I really must get DD and I moving, we are going to a new Toddler group, for the second time. I like to give these groups at least 2 shots, the first was a bit poo, but maybe that was a blip.
We are still skudding around in our jammies
Need to throw us in a shower (complete with matching shower caps, no time to wash hair today) and get us dressed. The group starts at 1.30
I am gonna be late, aren't I?

MerryMarigold · 22/09/2008 12:58

Obs, swelling sounds horrid. I had it for about a week after ds was born, like my feet were BALLOONS, I couldn't wear shoes! But it was the least of my discomforts at that point...I had some swelling when it was hot in summer and my Mum forced me to speak to consultant about it (even tho' I knew it was because it was hot). Anyway, he said it was 'a good sign'. I was too flummoxed to ask why!

vbab, don't paint, you mad woman. None of our skirtings are painted, it's one of those jobs that will always get done 'one day'!

missygoo, TMI alert for anyone else! It's funny you should say that actually as I have noticed the same thing. Not the piles but the HUUUUGE errrr...number twos. I am not constipated anymore (for the last week I would say) so these are an everyday occurrence. I am eating a lot, but still...wondering where it's all coming from. Glad I am not the only one.

ChocO and choc, you both sound very organised, can't believe you have it all. I haven't that's for sure (although freezer and tumble are ordered now). See by baby no.2 and 3 you forget about babygros, cots and isofix and move onto the larger 'necessity items' . Well done, choc on the mat leave.

Pinky, good to have you back on a reg basis with all your great advice. Missed ya when you were off building your internet empire !

ruthosaurus · 22/09/2008 13:06

Hi all,

Wow, what a lot of catching up! I kept having this nagging feeling that I ought to get online during the weekend .

Vbab - I'm sorry about your DH being a dope, we have the same difference in ways of working: I'm the planner, he's last minute man. Don't you fnid that this inevitably means that you end up doing at least 2/3 of the work? Also, like hm2j's, he is also being weird about booking leave, esp xmas leave, as "people with kids need it more". Helloooooooo??? Anyone in there? We will have a 6 week old sproglet! I pity the fool.

Me, I had a slightly tiring weekend. On Friday night I did shopping after work until 9:30, made jelly with DH (yay! jelly!) and went to bed with quite huge BH contractions.

On saturday I finished the shopping while DH tidied and hoovered at home (I found a babygrow in Tesco that had a picture of two dinosaurs on and said "Daddysaurus" and "Babysaurus" on, which I am most pleased with). Well, I got home, had a cuppa with a mate who poppped over to eat all the chocolate fingers I bought as she couldn't come to the party then cooked, prepped and shovelled eyeliner on and hosted a very small party as loads of our friends had come down with a D&V bug. Lovely party, though!

I woke up about 6am yesterday with nasty tummy cramps and thought - "Oh, shit, I've overdone it and now the baby's coming" and just made it to the bathroom because it wasn't the baby but the stomach bug. Spent the next 2 hours in the bathroom, and then the next 3 worrying about the baby (who is absolutely fine). I spent yesterday in bed asleep. I went to the MW today and got bump checked and apparently I have ace stomach muscles and baby is behaving perfectly. But I have thrush - ace, because I'm not in a romantic mood as I'm too tired and ungainly for all that and now have an evil excuse .

I am now at work and intending on leaving in about 2 hours to wrap DH's presents, do the ironing and do the rest of the party cleaning up (I had to do some last night as he'd been sat there in the rubble, just adding to the washing up. I was feeling a bit dubious about this party anyway as it was a lot of work for 7 months pg, and going out for a meal would have been shit loads cheaper as well).

So so sorry for huge whinge. PMA time - the baby is fine, the babygro is ace and, as DH keeps pointing out, the fishtank is clean and the carpets do look better now he's hoovered. And I do like coming back to work for a rest after the weekend.

PS loving new names, missygoo and pinkyminkee!

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 22/09/2008 13:10

PPS I am going to kill DH as he has been using the attic for a crafty smoke but I didn't realise he had put all the baby stuff up there and now I am going to have to wash all the clothes and bleach the cot. God alone knows what I will do with the moses basket. Grounds for divorce?

OP posts:
Pinkyminkee · 22/09/2008 13:13

haha MM. I'm not sure how 'great' my advice is lol.

AS regards the blanket 'empire' I still haven't manged to get it done yet It's taken me the best part of week to sort out what connstitiutes a category as opposed to a group on my test shop thingy. Crazy, considering I'm only selling about three types of thing! I've got some lovley things made, but I can't get them on the site yet, it's soo frustrating.

I am getting very of all you ladies with lovely mummies. I wish mine was so caring and lovely. I always get a bit nlike this when I'm PG- perhaps it's just because it's one of those times when you'd really like your mum to be supportive .

chocolategal · 22/09/2008 13:20

ruthosaurus sorry you were poorly yest, hope its all away today...those babygrows sound very cute!

Merrymarrigold having a little giggle, i know what you mean i have become obsessed with all things baby!! need to get out more to stop me spending a small fortune on items i do not need, and wont be able to afford on maty pay!!

my aim is to thoroughly clean and tidy/organise one room in house every couple of days, so away to tackle the dining room.

catch up with you all later

Pinkyminkee · 22/09/2008 13:21

lol Rutho about your DH not realising he's having a child!! Somehow I think the reality is going to hit him soonish are you having a boy? Becuase I have got a very cute 'do you think he saw us' dinosaur top that you could have. (for the baby, obviously) It's not new or anything, but very sweet.

ruthosaurus · 22/09/2008 13:25

Honestly, choc, it's the best. Like finding a t-shirt with your nickname on!

OP posts:
thomasina1 · 22/09/2008 13:29

Wow, everyone does sound very organised! Chocorange, I am still using your spreadsheet (well my own version of it) but have still got LOADS to buy. Cot and moses basket came at the weekend so we are feeling a bit more prepared, and I've just ordered a very techie-looking baby monitor for DH!

Missygoo, what are your symptoms with SPD? I have developed a BAD pain just on one side, kind of in the crease at the top of my leg. Really hurts when I walk on it or try to move that leg. Not helped by a longish wlak yesterday...

Pinkali37 · 22/09/2008 13:39

Morning All,

Thought i'd lost you all. but I found you

Saw my little neice yesterday. Pictures will in approx 5 minutes be on profile. She was rather gorgeous. Also have a lovely picture of my bump and boobs (with v attractive bra on) think that was taken at 30 weeks. Still waiting for nursery wardrobes to be finished so I can take a nice picture of the nursery!!

Had MW appointment this morning. Everything fine apart from my blood pressure is a bit low. Not too bad or anything think it was 98/56?? Am i going to survive????? Go a bit breathless and dizzy everynow and again but hey just one mroe thing to add to the list of "How the hell do other people look glamorous when I look so SH*T and have all these things wrong with me?"

ruthosaurus · 22/09/2008 13:53

Pinkali, I have a purple top on and have just realised I look like a frickin' aubergine (it looked better in the changing room at H&M). "Oo" on blood pressure, dunno what's normal but mine was 120/70 this morning. Anyone out there with actual medical knowledge?

Pinky I have a mystery baby - we have loads of second-hand clothes in both varieties but I am going to cherry-pick them when I find out what flavour baby lil' saurus is and then return the unwanted stuff (after I have washed DH's vile fag smoke out of them, obv . I'm sure baby saurus won't care what s/he is dressed in (plus, I was mad keen on dinosaurs when I was a little saurus) as long as it's warm and not itchy!

BTW, sorry I haven't emailed you re blankets. I have been meaning to but my brain is shit preoccupied with nesting. Ahem.

OP posts:
ruthosaurus · 22/09/2008 13:56

BTW, does anyone else have a "birthday week"? It's something DH has come up with this year and it seems to mean he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to for 7 days . To be fair, I had one too but I still had to wash up and do laundry etc during it... I think I've been had.

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 22/09/2008 14:00

Pinkali your niece is very cute. Just think we will all have one very soon and of course Merry will have 2!
Vbab take it easy and rest!
Choc glad you got your mat leave sorted an are off now - I only have 2 weeks after this one - Yay!
Saurus those babygros sound lovely. I can't wait to buy stuff but I want to wait until I know what i'm getting as I have more then enough neutral stuff!
DH built the crib yesterday, it is very cute but a bit bigger then we thought and we have no where to store it at the moso it is in our living room. DS keeps saying awww babys bo bo!

Pinkyminkee · 22/09/2008 14:01

Rutho It's red and I think it would do a boy or a girl really and it's very soft with a furry dinosaur on it (from Next originally I think). Send me your addy and I'll put it in the post for you. Don't worry if you don't want it, just pass it on.

Pinkali was wondering where you were! I have low blod pressure, but normally low, so not an issue. Make sure you are eating enough 9can be to do with low blood sugar) some info here
