Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sparkletoes · 30/09/2008 17:04

Ouch Saurus awkward certainly sounds like the word there! I haven't had BH luckily (so far!) but it is really uncomfortable when baby moves this time around. Must be something to do with its positioning, feels like I have a bag of cats in there sometimes!

LadyBuzz · 30/09/2008 17:08

Hugs to Obs I know you won't see it but i'm thinking it!

ChocOrange05 · 30/09/2008 17:36

I am very very as I just beat Monkey at scrabble - and she is good!!!!

Pinkyminkee · 30/09/2008 17:41

sparkle the thing with BH is, you may well be having them, it's just that most people only notice them if they are uncomfy. They are part of the way your body prepares for labour.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/09/2008 18:12

just a quick....{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} to Obs. Get well lovely.

My internet connection has been dodgy all day...thanks to DD. she killed my laptop by trying to plug my mobile phone charger into it and it just died. I then had to excavate our very old and slow desktop from under a pile of crap in the junk back room, and just as I was about to hit post, she switched it off. Laptop has rejoined the land of the living again, although it keeps cutting out. I need to take it to the PC hospital tomorrow.

I did manage a cracking word on scrabble to annoy MonkeyM though

suiledonn · 30/09/2008 18:19

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in a while so there is around 5 pages for me to catch up on which I will do shortly, dd permitting.

I had my driving test today and failed again. I failed on the same thing as last time (stupid reverse around the corner) I was really disappointed as I did well on everything else. The tester obviously has a heart of stone not to take pity on a heavily pregnant woman trying to manoever a car with no power steering.

I haven't been feeling great the last few days. I have convinced myself that there is no way I will go to full term on this baby and it is making me nervous. I am having a lot of Braxton Hicks and odd pains.

Sorry about the me,me,me post. I'll have a read now and see how everyone else is doing.

Pinkyminkee · 30/09/2008 18:43

Hi suiledon sorry you are feeling low, and about the driving test. Ihaven't even had any refresher lessons yet, so you did much better than me. Will you book another test soon? If you only failed on that one thing, I'm sure you can do it.
As for the baby coming early, well who can say, but I'm sure you will cope really well.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/09/2008 18:54

sorry about the driving test suiledon. Try not to be too upset about it; I find driving quite a challenge at this stage in pregnancy (especially looking over my shoulder due to lack of manoeverability (sp??) so taking a driving test is a pretty impressive thing to do in my book.

I think we're all getting to the "is this not over yet stage". these last weeks are the bloody hardest of all the pregnancy ime. I was knackered and sore after a half hour walk today, even with the pram to use as a zimmer frame!

Off to catch up with today's pram chat.

Pinky....did you find your DS too tall for the P&T with the toddler seat on the front or was it OK? Also, I've heard a lot of bad press about the seat and shopping basket fabrics ripping as well as general build quality issues. I think I might be looking for problems now!

ceebee74 · 30/09/2008 19:33

Suiledonn sorry about your driving test but I am very impressed that you even considered taking it at this stage

Also, got my Secret Stork gift today - a huge thank you to whoever you are It was a lovely taggy-type blanket and some really soft chenille socks for the baby - and it all came in a lovely gift box aswell. Thank you again!

suiledonn · 30/09/2008 19:34

Thanks for the sympathy girls. Not really upset about the test. Just a bit annoyed with myself because in my lessons I did that manoever properly lots of times. Nerves played a big part. I'm not going to reapply again for a while. Don't feel much like driving these days anyway as it is not very comfortable.

MIL is taking me and dd out for the morning on Thursday. She wants to get a present for the new baby and I'm sure dd will get something too. Should be a nice day. See how I'm trying to regain my PMA

Pinkyminkee · 30/09/2008 20:08

yay Suiledon- that's the spirit. If it makes you feel any better, I just had a little weep whilst I was putting the children to bed. I've had the backgorund eye thing to a migraine all day and I had just had enough. I think we are just waiting for these babies to come out!!

lacks DS (big dobbing 91st centiler) fitted fine in the seat. Shopping basket on mine is getting a bit worn now, but I don't drive and I use it a lot. No double pram is perfect, they take a real hammering, but I have been very happy with it on the whole and it's more than fine now for baby number three.

MonkeyMargot · 30/09/2008 20:37

Hello ladies!
Obs Sorry to hear you've got to go into hospital . Hope you're home soon!
Prams I'm getting the Bugaboo Cameleon with maxi-cosi carseat and Easyfix do-daaa. DH chose it - it's as close to buying a new car as it gets for him. It's grey and sand - very dull, but unisex. Although actually we've just had to get our ££ refunded from the SHITE internet company we ordered it from - as despite placing the order 3 months ago, they've just admitted they won't be able to deliver on time. Luckily, a guy we met at NCT recommended a local shop (for local people ) where they will match the t'internet price, and they have them in stock. So panic over!
I am so shattered today. Had to go into town for meeting, got soaked (like Autumnlady - I was another who misread your opening gambit and thought you'd started in labour!!)
It's definitely getting harder doing normal things, like lugging shopping home etc. I feel like an old woman. Have also had a thumping headache all day which is most unlike me. Managed to bake a lovely lemon cake though - yum! I had my French lesson today (No - i'm not being smutty!) with Bernard, and he is partial to a slice of my cake
On the subject of scrabble, I am MIGHTY peeved that both Lacks and ChocO have beaten me today. You're ruining my stats don't you know! But I am all in for a full-on tournament if you can work out how to do it.
BH - am having lots.
HB (homebirth) - thanks merry and choc and everyone else who commented. The reason I'm now considering it is because I don't fancy hanging about in a hospital for long, for all the usual reasons. And also, one of the midwives at Queen Charlotte's lives on my street, so my GP said I can actually request her specifically, which would be cool, as I know she's done lots of HB's. One of my friends has had all 3 DD's at home and raves about it.
Any road up - must stop jabbering and try and redeem myself at scrabble !!!

ceebee74 · 30/09/2008 20:39

Ladies

I know this has been done before but has anyone got the definitive list of what should go in your hospital bag?? I am really struggling to remember what I packed last time - or any of the 'spreadsheet' ladies, have you got a spreadsheet which you can e-mail to me??

MonkeyMargot · 30/09/2008 20:44

Another adv. of HB - don't need a hospital bag!
Sorry Ceebee - that wsan't v.helpful! I don't have a list but I know a lady who might....Choc / Dozy ?

sparkletoes · 30/09/2008 20:55

Suiledonn sorry about your test but echo the commendations for even considering it right now. I am actively avoiding reversing at all times if I can help it at moment! The foot in my ribs makes it v painful to look behind!

LOL at your local shop for local people MonkeyMargot really glad you got that sorted tho. Hope all goes well with your HB plans! My friend is a MW and said she would attend if I wanted one but those plans got knocked on the head when she also became PG and due in Nov!

Oh yeah Ceebee it reminded me in my pregnancy book that it wasn't too early to sort a bag out. Know we covered it already but problem with (multiple) chatty threads makes me wonder if I'd ever find it. Will have a scan tho and post a link if I do...

Pinkyminkee maybe the slight cramps I get are them then... It will be the first PG related discomfort that hasn't floored me this time if they are!

missygoo · 30/09/2008 21:07

Been away for a few days so I don't think I will even try to catch up with you all There is, no doubt, just too much to take in!

Unfortunately my few days away were not relaxing. Well, I guess in a way, they were?
I have been in hospital because I had a bleed on Friday night so they decided to keep me in for monitoring etc.
First time I have been away from DD for so long. Was she fussed? Was she 'eck as like!! It made me feel great though, to know that my wee DD is so comfortable in either Daddy's, Granny's or Grandad's company. So much so that every time she left me behind, she would just shout 'bye bye mummy' as if it were the most normal thing to leave me behind in this strange place!
Think I was faaar more upset by it than she was, though my upset couldn't last long, if she had none.

Anyway, they have no conclusive answers as to why I bled, they are just putting it down to still having bits and bobs floating about after the initial miscarriage/D&C
Seems a bit flaky an answer to me, but hey I was just happy that baby is well, placenta is in the right place and that I could come home.
Unfortunately I think it is putting paid to our plans to attend my BF wedding on Friday. I just think it would be too much. The wedding is about 3-400 miles away and we need to detour to drop off DD at PIL (she was not invited another story, I am only a wee bit bitter about that espesh as BF has not met DD yet and DD is 2!!), adding another couple of hundred onto that.

So all fun and games in the house of Goo!

They also tell me that LO is only about 3llb somat and that that is rather on the small side for 32 weeks, though they ae not worried cos there is plenty of time to bulk him up.
I am pleased cos I wanted a small baby so that I can go natural. Looks like I might be ok for that! Yey!
Though, silly consultant, got himself in a muddle and told me that I had placenta prevaria (sp?) and that I might need a CS if it didn't move. Then decided 20 mins later, after sending me back to the ward, that he had made a mistake, oops sorry
Not too though, just happy that he was wrong.

Sorry for me me post, will try to keep up with you all and join in properly next time.

Ooh! Secret Storks are on the go. So exciting. I am off to the post office tommorrow with mine

Pinkyminkee · 30/09/2008 21:19

missy sorry to hear you were in hospital, but glad all is well.

I think you may be right about the wedding- taking it easy might be the better option, though I do enjoy a weddding!

I know what you mean about the little darlings not missing us- I was in hospital quite a bit with DD and DS just liked having all the attention from daddy, grannie and other helpful friends..didn't miss me at all! DS has taken to nursery like a duck to water and it's just me that's noticing the void!

ceebee I don't have a spreadsheet but I can list what I've put in mine of that's any help??

barbareebaa · 30/09/2008 21:21

Hello

Obs hope you have a very short stay in hospital and everything is o.k x

Merry would love to meet up - wanstead would be great - there is a car park just off the High street, not too far from the cafes. I finish work at 3pm on a monday and Friday and 4pm the other days or could do a weekend? Let me know what you think! Did you say you are celebrating your wedding anniversary this weekend? Congratulations

Have also been feeling weepy and hormonal and tired and achy and sorry for myself! This has come as a bit of a shock as have had nothing to complain about really for the last 7 or so months. Fell over AGAIN today - that makes it 3 times since I fell pregnant (haha 'fell' - no pun intended ) This morning I managed to do the splits on the pavement and land on my brolly. I felt like a bit of a tit. Hum ho!

Have had enough of work too. Do you know if I could change the start of my maternity? 3 weeks seems like a loooong time away right now!

Sorry about the long moany post!

barbareebaa · 30/09/2008 21:32

Missy sorry to hear about your hospital stay. What a worry for you - glad all is well x

LackaDAISYcal · 30/09/2008 21:33

sorry about your hospital stay missygoo and I hope all is well. baby bulking vibes coming your way (but not too much obviously). Did they give you a reason for the bleed?

I suppose it's good that DD is fine with you being away; means that you not being there when you give birth will be easier on her. ikwym about it being harder for you though. The first time DS went off with his dad (in the days when DH and I were "estranged"), I could do nothing but worry and fret and talk about him non-stop.

I think you can change your start date, but not sure how much notice you need to give. Check it out on www.direct.gov.uk

Thanks for yet more advice on the P&T pinkee. I think we will end up with one, but are going to look at a cut price side by side at the weekend.....I'm hoping it is going to fail all our requirements (main one being it fitting in the car!)

vbab78 · 30/09/2008 21:48

missy - sorry to hear about your bleed. Glad things seem ok now. Just rest as much as poss.

obs - Hope you are ok.

rutho - Lady after my own heart with the flapjacks.

secret stork - All these pressies sound lovely.

chocorange - I am a "spreadhsheet" lady too . Although not got ones for calc NI and tax. Much too complicated or needs a half descent maths brain, which I havent got.

Sorry if I have missed off anyone just responded to what I could think of when I got to the end of the posts .

chocolategal · 30/09/2008 21:58

glad all is ok missygoo ceebee i have been thinking about my hosp bag too, thought i had most things but it doesnt look like very much so any spreadsheet ladies out there??

barbareeba sorry your feeling down in the dumps, i felt a bit like that too a couple of weeks ago, and i think it was down to triedness and work stresses. i ended up coming off a week earlier than planned, just had to ok it with personnel(which wasnt a problem) then with my direct boss (who couldnt say no really!)

vbab78 · 30/09/2008 22:00

baby - 35wks and baby seems to not be budging from back to back position as I get the same weird/hurting feelings constantly in the same place just like with DS.

decorating

  • Living room now plastered just got to wait for it to dry out before can do anything else. We are currently pretty much living upstairs due to living room being out of bounds. I hope DH doesnt get used to the 37inch plasma in our bedroom rather than our usual portable TV. Also got to deal with DH on PS3 or watching football for the next few weeks in our bedroom!
  • Nursery - I did undercoating yesterday AM and gloss this AM while DS at nursery. Carpet coming Thurs AM. DS new "big boy" wardrobe coming Mon AM so can then move baby furntiure from DS room to nursery. THEN can start getting organised and buy stuff.

DS - Been a nightmare while shopping with my mum at Meadowhall this PM after nursery. I think he is slightly poorly and tiredbut I felt hurt and upset by the end of the day as he just wanted my mum for cuddles and "hated" me and kept telling me to go away. But then when we came home we had an amazing few loving hours before he went to bed.

online sales - Sold another item and was picked up today. Just little bits of £ just putting away for x-mas. When I think how much stuff we have either given away, taken to charity shop or even thrown away that we could have sold.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/09/2008 22:14

Don't forget to update the Secret Stork Thread

ChocOrange05 · 30/09/2008 22:36

Evening all - I am off to bed but I have uploaded a bump photo from this evening that DH took. Its the one labelled 35+3 if you want to look.
