Brand new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

At 22 + 1 I still don't have an obvious bump, and because I'm cuddly anyway I don't suppose I will for a while! And it looks kidney bean shaped... lol.

Having said that, the boob fairy has been more than generous, and I reckon you could use one cup as a parachute!!!

Slickbird · 21/11/2008 16:57

Hey all, and welcome LittleBok! Always room for a newbie!

Well I am bumpin' out all over the place. My boobs are huge again (by my standard anyway) and twice today, I was asked when my baby was due (one of them was a doctor!) and I had to say, 'er...End of Feb, begining of March!' To responses of 'Oh. Right.' Then I had to explain it was the third one. Sigh. I'm going to be like a beached whale at this rate. If I lie on my back I'll be like a turtle unable to get up!

Still battling with the sinuses but plan to go back to work next week sometime as my poor colleague is having to do all my work too. I feel so bad, but I really just haven't been well enough. And anyway, really need to get my MATB1 form in as well.

Happy Friday everyone! (Again! Already...God the weeks are flying in...)

Wheelybug · 21/11/2008 17:07

Oh yes slickbird - this week questions have subtly changed to 'how long have you got left' and then a look of shock when i tell them quite how long.

Also had a depressing shop - I have outgrown all my previous maternity tops from last time despite being a dress size smaller and so went looking for some longer tops. As I'm only 5 foot the long fashionable tops don't suit me and because of the size of my bump stuck out and made me look v. odd. I eventually got a couple in benetton that had elastic round the bottom so pulled them in but if I'm like that now at 24 weeks what will I be like by the end ?!?!?!?

Can't find camera but will take photo and post it asap.

Slickbird · 21/11/2008 19:47

The other thing I meant to mention is I am now at the point of not only getting kicks that make me go 'Ooooyah!' but also getting such strong braxton hixs that I can't walk through them anymore. Here we go again....!

meep · 22/11/2008 07:48

Slickbird - ouch! My kicks are making me go "oooo" but am not quite at the "Ooooooyah" stage !

Wheely, my maternity stuff from last time is all summer stuff and is also too wee for me now. I am so uninspired by what is our there at the moment that I haven't bought much else - will need to do some serious shopping soon!

I definitely have heartburn looming - have had a few follow through burps (sorry TMI) so it is only a matter of time before Gaviscon becomes my best friend again.

My ankles are also looking suspiciously puffy. Slickbird - I don't know if you got caught up in the traffic jams last night because of that road traffic accident? I had to get off the bus early - put in an emergency call to my Dad (who always rescues me) to go and collect dd from nursery then pick me up as I waddled through the Grange.

My ankles had become cankles with those little folds round the bottom by the time I got home, so once again I am destined not to look like a cool and trendy pregnant lady in knee high boots and skirts! I will be a weeble in M&S strtchy black trousers for the forseeable future!

Meep - No, I missed that thankfully. Nothing more frustrating than sitting in a carpark on a road. Especially if you have a baby jumping up and down on your bladder and you are desparate for a pee!! (although that all does sound a bit insensitive to those caught up in the RTA - )

I have to say swollen ankles haven't really featured yet, but oooh my pubic bone. Oooof it's definitely getting worse. Turning in my sleep is now agony.

I think we need AuntySpan to create a new thread soon do we not? I'll leave it up to the founder! If she doesn't mind.

Happy Saturday all!

Meant to say re: being preggars over Christmas, I am slightly miffed that I am having the third Christmas in a row without a drinkiepoo!! Two years ago I had just got pregnant, last year I was breastfeeding and this year I am pregnant again!! I'm not a huge drinker, but I do like a couple of glasses of wine with a good meal and I miss that. I guess I could always have one. Although I quite like the idea that MKG has of getting other people to do the running around for you, but I know what I'm like and I just can't stop myself from doing stuff myself. I was even thinking of cooking Christmas dinner this year, which I haven't really done before. But with the way my SPD is going, DH may have to step in. Oh well. Worse things happen out at sea.

meep · 22/11/2008 10:48

I have a strange craving for cold lager when I'm pregnant - very odd - but pregnant friend recommended non-alcoholic lager so that may be my tipple of choice for Christmas Day! I know I could have a glass of wine but my dh really hates the thought of drinking while pregnant - and because it doesn't really bother me that much I don't drink as it's not worth arguing about.

Slickbird - I am the same as you - pregnant at Christmas 2 years ago - and though I wasn't bf last Christmas I still didn't feel quite ready to wade into the booze with my pfb to look after !

lolianja · 22/11/2008 12:12

Little miffed about the prospect of an alcohol-free Christmas as well.

26 weeks on Monday, so only just over a week until the third trimester. A truly terrifying thought. Bump is still quite small and I'm so thankful of that now. It is an actual bump these days but it's fairly little and round and very perfect-looking. I'm so grateful to have had such an easy pregnancy so far. No stretch marks, no piles, about a fortnight of mild sickness at the very beginning... I'm assuming that I'll be karmically compensated come the birth! Just can't wait to meet my little probably-girl baby now. It's only now that I'm almost at the home stretch that I'm able to appreciate that there will actually be a person resulting from all this.

Hope everybody's well.

MKG · 22/11/2008 12:49

Hello all. I'm so jealous of those of you feeling proper kicks. I feel movement, but not that much and not that often. the other two were like that. I just have lazy babies. I'm lucky if I feel this one once a day.

The other day at my appointment the midwife said the normal "10 times in 10 hours" I laughed and said I'd never felt that, but not to worry because I know what's normal for me.

MKG · 22/11/2008 13:43

I started a new thread because I didn't think this one would last past the weekend.

RogersPark · 23/11/2008 21:56

Just joined Mumsnet. We're due to have a girl on March 30th. Am I crazy to start putting our names down on nursery waiting lists? We're in SE24 and it seems like childcare in our area is nightmare.
