Brand new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Slickbird · 15/11/2008 11:07

Sorry, one last thing, on the earlier subject of weird PG dreams - Last night I dreamt I got very er...intimate with, with....Will Young!!!!! I mean, eh??? Number 1, don't like him, number 2, he's gay anyway, Number 3 only ever dream about having sex with DH. 'And Will' as DH pointed out this morning. No wonder I'm coming out in a rash.....

ceedub · 15/11/2008 15:14

Thanks for the advice everyone. After a good night's sleep and a chat with the local gp, dp and I have decided we will go. I haven't had any more bleeding and our medical advice has been that it's not serious and in no way affects the baby as it's all outside the cervix. It's similar to having a nosebleed, just more dramatic!

I'm early enough that flying isn't a worry and as long as I'm careful not to irritate he area, should be absolutely fine. The advice was basically that a holiday would do us good and there's no reason to cancel.

Which was a relief, so now can look forward to it and relax.

shall take some dried apricots slickbird!

Slickbird · 15/11/2008 16:38

Great, I was hoping that would be the case. Have a fantastic holiday! I wish it was me!

MKG · 15/11/2008 17:13

Is anyone else just ready to be done being pregnant? I just want to fast forward and have this baby. I feel fine, I'm just bored I guess. I know after Christmas the time is going to fly by. I guess I need to get to January when there will be less to think about.

Rant over, as you were.

twocutedarlings · 15/11/2008 20:12

Have a fab time ceebub

MKG Yes i so feel the same!! i am fed up of feeling like i have been kick in the fanjo by a horse and having to carry on regardless!! with my girls to run around after its impossible to rest.

Slickbird PMSL at you and Will LOL but suppose there are worse fellas to get jiggy with hehe!!

titchy77 Hope your feeling ok after your fall, i fell down our stairs from top to bottom when i was pg with DD1.....not good!!! i felt like id been hit by a bus for week after.

Slickbird · 15/11/2008 21:08

Twocute I know, the weird thing is he was pretty good...Butthat could be because any degree of sex right now would be good as I've gone right off it. (While I'm awake anyway!)

MKG OH YES!!! Soooo fed up already as I was pg all last year too, so really over it already!! I want my body back and everything that goes with it. Mind, the boobs are still on loan for a while when the baby's born I guess... Never mind, at least I feel sure this time is the last time whereas last time I really couldn't be sure either way.

MKG · 16/11/2008 13:54

Slickbird--We are currently debating if this is the last one or not. One minute I feel sad that this could possibly be the last one, and then I feel so happy that thi is the last time I will put my body through this. This is my 3rd baby in 3.5 years, and I'm tired of feeling pregnant and breastfeeding. If this one wasn't a girl I don't know what I would do.

meep · 16/11/2008 19:11

hats off to MKG and slickbird - this is my second and my last! Even if it is another girl! I think I would have been happy with just dd but wanted to have another one for her sake! Mind you, if I find number 2 easier than those first 6 months with dd maybe i'll get broody again - yikes!!!!!

I am in the happy stage of pregnancy - I was like this with dd at this stage - just happy being pregnant and feeling the wriggles!

If your cravings point to what sex the baby will be I must be having another girl - I am fruit obsessed - I have consumed 2 large cartons of fresh orange and so many satsumas this weekend that I will turn into an orange soon!

emma2617 · 17/11/2008 09:17

Morning ladies!! Thanks for the support...god knows I need it, lol!!

I went to see the midwife on Friday but yet again was completely appalled by the care in my area. I mentioned the stress at work and how down it was getting me to which she responded "well, its not only your lineof work thats stressful you know, I get a lot of stress in this job too" and I just though...you what?! I couldnt give a crap about your stress, your not pregnant and its not my job to care for and support you I asked her to check all was ok with baby because the stress was worrying me and she sadi "sooo...do you want me to check your blood pressure?" again left thinking, your the qualified one...do what you need to to check all is okay! She briefly listened to babys heartbeat, literally just to check it was there, didnt even leave it a couple of seconds soI could listen properly and calm down a little! Then I asked about my back and my numb hip which she completely dismissed! All this amongst asking me the same question at least 6 times and then asking for my notes, which I had already given her! Then she cancelled my routine appointment for next monday because "these clinics are very busy and there is no point doubling up" after asking me if I would still llike the appointment and me saying yes! At this point I just had to get out of there as I was either going to cry or completely lose it at her!!
I have now booked appointment at GP tonight to talk to him and see if he is any more helpful, and also to ask if it is possible o request that particular midwife not be present at anymore of my ante-natal appts or at the birth, as I swear to god I would punch her in the face (this is the 3rd time I have seen tht particular midwife and each time I have come away seething)!

Sorry for the rant...really needed it though!!

I am back at work today really not enjoying it already!! Fortunately I get to leave early for Drs appt!

Hope everyone is okay this morning!

And MKG I am totally over being pregnant! I just want this baby out, he kept me up a lot of last night wriggling around!

Boobz · 17/11/2008 11:17

Morning going well thanks Emma - have to deliver all my big 2009 strategy and plans for work by Thursday so am a bit stressed but generally easing myself into the week otherwise. Sorry to hear your MW wasn't particularly sympathetic - she sounds like she's in the wrong job tbh! I have been lucky with my MW but then I've only seen her 3 times in total though, so maybe I have just been luckier that I haven't stumbled across a grumpy one. How many appointments have you had? I thought 3 times by about 22 weeks was normal? Maybe they haven't got the space if added appointments at your clinic, due to volume of traffic? I hope your GP is more sympathetic.

Am enjoying this part of the pregnancy, actually, as can feel the baby kicking and have a relatively neat bump without being huge yet.

Anyone felt their sex drive pick up recently? Am more game for it than the first 20 weeks now, managing about 3 times a week which DH is very happy about!

Hope you're Monday is going well, wherever you are?

xx

grinningbee · 17/11/2008 11:27

Morning all!

I have my 20 week scan today finally! Even though I am 21 + 4

As long as bean is co-operating, we'll be finding out what flavour we have. I just hope everything is as it should be.

When I was in the bath this morning, I saw bean kick me for the first time! I squealed and dh came rushing in thinking something was wrong, and could I get it to do it again?? Could I heck, lol.

Nothing to report really other than having a right ankle the size of a heffalump. Probably because I've been doing craft fairs for the last 4 days and standing up.

Hope everyone is ok.

I'll let you know later on if it's another for the boys or girls team (I thnk it's a boy... let's see if mums intuition is right..)

emma2617 · 17/11/2008 11:30

boobz sex...whats that?! DP has gotten lucky once since conception...bless him, poor sod!
Good luck with the what sounds very complicated and important work stuff!! lol!
In terms of appointments I saw the midwife twice before I moved house, once for booking at home then again for result and weighing etc at GP surgery! Then I moved and saw MW to book in at new area, then 16 week check, then 20 weeks appt and then drop in...so todate I have had 5 appts and 1 visit to the drop in clinic!
I know they probably are busy, but I booked my appointment for next week well in advance and the "check-up" she gave me at the drop in really wasnt very thorough, if it had been I may have not been so upset at my appt being cancelled!!! Im trying to remeber that my hormones are making me slightly irrational, but Im pretty sure I would have beem peed off without the hormones!! I agree that I dont think she is in the right job, but I could say the same for most of the MWs Ive seen so far, they just dont seem to care!

Im such a grumpy cow arent i!!

Oh, I meant to ask...has anyone been to the baby show?! I went to the one in manchester on saturday, was a very long day! Came away with steriliser, breast pump, breast pads and bottles...woohoo!!

lizziemun · 17/11/2008 12:32

Boobz

Sex what that.

I think we have had sex about 5 times since i fell pg with dd2 who is 14mths .

As for midwifes they always say that they are very busy. But no excuse as to not take on your conerns. I hope you have better luck woth your GP.

Mandy73 · 17/11/2008 13:17

Hi all,

Emma that is CRAP. So sorry.

I hope everyone had a good w/e.
Flying visit as work is still mental v busy and likely to remain that way until Xmas. Not that I'm complaining.

At the moment we are bracing ourselves for the big artery doppler scan 25 Nov - if all is well (fingers crossed, fingers crossed) we MAY glance at prams and cots some time soon - even finger some little baby clothes.

xx

emma2617 · 17/11/2008 13:39

Mandy Hope all goes well on 25th...thats not too long now! I cant believe you havent got anything yet...I am being a terribly over-keen first timer! Have got the pram and cot, wardrobe and changing cabinet! All the furniture is now up after a very productive weekend! Youve got all the excitement of baby shopping to come!!

Boobz · 17/11/2008 14:29

Not bought anything here yet either. Figured I will get it all in the January sales to save cash.

Although the birth pool I won in a competition arrived today! Not sure whether to open it to have a look, or leave it all packed up until March.

Anyone else planning a homebirth on this thread?

goldmother2b · 17/11/2008 15:00

Emma your mw sounds like she needs a good swig from the empathy cup - it would not have been difficult for her to put your mind at rest as I expect it is pretty obvious that you are feeling the need for some support and reassurance.

I made it into work for 3 hours this morning and am now back home resting my poor old pelvis - work are being good to me, although I expect they do realise if they aren't that the doc would happily sign me off for the next couple of months!

I have just been looking at nursery furniture on the Ikea website - can't decide whether it is too early to start furnishing the nursery.....should prob wait for the sales....although we do have a van hired to pick up a sofabed tomorrow....decisions decisions

Boobz Not planning a homebirth, my local hospital has a midwife led unit with ensuite bathrooms and birthing pools, and if the pain gets too much the standard delivery suite is on the floor below, wheras it would take me 25 mins to get to the hosp from home...and I've heard it can get messy!

emma2617 · 17/11/2008 15:26

goldmother....go on! be a devil!!! I have all my furniture (from Ikea) and its all assembled!!!

babyinbelly · 17/11/2008 15:48

Hi all. Not been about for a while as I think the novelty of being pg has worn off here as well. (and i'm addicted to facebook!) Is anyone else feeling like frantically cleaning. The kitchen got a right seeing to on saturday. Once I started I couldn't stop and was knackerd by the end of the day.

Again here, SEX Whats that? Had it twice since conception. Even if I think i'm in the mood I change my mind before anything progresses!

Emma sorry to hear about your work. I'm so glad I only work part time. I would try and get your doctor to sign you off sick for a couple of weeks.

Also waddling slightly here and holding bump a lot as well as rubbing! Not that it is really very heavy yet but I feel that I need to support it?!!!

Oh yeah. I am also eating far too much chocolate, to the point it makes me feel sick.

Sorry for the essay. Hope you all have a good week. x

emma2617 · 17/11/2008 17:56

Evening ladies!! Well I have just got in from the doctors, he was more helpful about my back and hip pain but not so much with the emotional side! I guess I'm just gonna have to see how I go!
He did however have a good feel of my belly and commented that baby was very active!! But he also said I felt big for my dates...I'm 24+2 and doctor aid I felt more like 28 weeks is it possible to be that far out at this stage?! Or are my dates wrong?!

laweaselmys · 17/11/2008 19:29

I'm not having a home birth either - the Midwife Led Unit at the hospital I chose has birth pools etc, so am happy to go there. Especially because I am still waiting to see if this baby settles into a breech position or not. It is an insanely nice birth center very high tech but homey and you can just pick and choose whatever you want. Can't get much better than that! It is an NHS hospital but a research one, and the maternity unit regularly receives huge private donations. I feel very lucky compared to a lot of what seems to be on offer in other areas.

I am in massive pain. Not sure if I am just sick (possible! Chicken pox is spreading through the school I work at, as well as masses of virus' etc) but keep getting 'knots' in my back next to my spine. Have found it very hard to sleep and am just generally exhausted.

To make my life more interesting I am contemplating moving into an old abandoned pub at the beginning of january and doing it up, with DP and my dad - either as another business not a pub but maybe as a childminder's dream house! since I work with kids, or just as a regular house that would mean a cheaper life, but with more space for all of us. I have no idea if I am being utterly nuts to even consider it, or if it's the best idea we have ever had. We do have some experience in the area, but it is still most definately a big job and not something to take on casually.

laweaselmys · 17/11/2008 19:30

Big babies can be signs of a few things I think emma - they might want to test you for gestational diabetes. Glad your GP actually listened to your medical concerns though!

Slickbird · 17/11/2008 20:02

Laweaselmys Ooooh, rather you than me girl!! I think that would be a massive massive thing to take on with a bambino due. We had to move when DD2 was 6 weeks old and the stress was HUGE esp as the person buying our place couldn't come up with the money three days before we were due to move! STTTTRREEEESSSSSS! We did thankfully get there in the end, but see doing all the negotiating with a baby hanging off my right boob, urgh, it was just too much. Renovation projects are hellish at the best of times too, even tho the end result can be wonderful. Sorry, really not wanting to rain on your parade, just worried for you!! Maybe you will be a super-mum who can take all these things in her stide!!

No homebirth for me thanks - give me a hozzie any day with cups of tea on tap, drugs when you need them and no mess to clean up!

grinningbee · 18/11/2008 07:44

Morning!

Well, had the 21 + 4 scan yesterday afternoon. Gosh, it did take a long time!

We were in there for about 45 minutes as junior was NOT co-operating. Its head was jammed firmly into my right hip so getting the measurements wasn't easy. Then when it came to the heart, someone decided to lay face down... ha ha ha! Anyway, after much moving on my part, and being tipped head down we got there.

I had to keep reminding the lady that we wanted to find out what the flavour was (we think she didn't really want to say) and we are having a Girl!! The EDD is now March 26th.

So much for mums intuition! I was so shocked, I was convinced it was a boy. After losing our first pg last year, the relief that everything seems ok was soooo huge I blubbed my eyes out, and so did DH. He said he would like a girl from the outset so he could go all pink and fluffy, and he spent the rest of yesterday totally spaced out in shock

I still can't believe we have a healthy bean, let alone that it's a girly.

The best bit for me was at one point, she was laying with her legs crossed at the ankles with her hands behind her head - she looked so chilled out!

Can you tell how relieved I am... lol.

emma2617 · 18/11/2008 09:12

grinningbee glad all went well with scan...I thought it took a long time as well!!!! Can't beleive its another girl...I am starting to get jealous!!

LaWeasel The doctor didnt mention any tests, just said it may be because uterus is sitting slightly higher than normal...I assumed this is because I have yet to get a bump so I thought baby would just be growing higher up to compensate?! Or am I just sticking my head in the sand?! I am obviously concerned if GD is a possibility, but he didnt mention babys size, just uterus....plus I am worried if they have got the dates wrong I could be allowed to go quite considerably overdue!
