Brand new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jollyjoanne · 05/11/2008 12:36

I am sorry I have not been keeping up with the chat - I have had that nasty cold that has been going round.

Pumpkin I just wanted say how sorry I am and my thoughts are with you and your family.

MKG the rude dreasm have now passed, shame, and now I have moved on to nasty horrible nightmares - slightly strangely almost entirely about needles / syringes. Although that is an improvement from my dream about those jelly snake sweets and the 'bring on the trumpets' bear of earlier in the pregnancy.

Boobz I love the pic - I might take one of mine later - but I am sure mine will huge compared to everyone elses - I haven't been fitting in my trousers for ages now. Also not sure about the hubby going away - all I can say is mine better bnot travel any further than a hour or so away otherwise there will be trouble.

Fruity I had been thinking about a 4d scan but can't decide if it is worth the money - opinion in my family / friends appears a little split.

jollyjoanne · 05/11/2008 12:38

Should may be of specified that the picture would be of the bump - nothing else!

dinny · 05/11/2008 12:49

Boobz, my first baby, dd, was born at 35 weeks and 5 days - they aren't always late!

FruitynNutty · 05/11/2008 13:27

Hi boobz I decided to stick with St.Georges. It's so close to me. It's not worth risking a HB. It's only for my selfish reasons anyway. It still didn't stop me from bursting into tears in the consultant's room though when he told me how dangerous it would be
He did say if this one goes well then I might be able to have a HB next time (if I can get pregnant again) so it's not all bad.

FWIW My ds (1st baby) was 12 days late and even then he needed coaxing out, even then I ended up with an emergency C-section

Jollyjoanne They had a special deal on 4D scans at The Baby Show. I paid £95 for a voucher worth £125. When I had DS they were around £400 (obviously didn't go for one then) so they have really come down in price which is why we have gone for one this time

titchy77 · 05/11/2008 13:35

Hi all, haven't been on for ages as pc was broken but all fixed now.
pumpkin so sorry to hear of your sad loss. My heart and thoughts go out to you and your family.

Had my scan yesterday and all was o.k, the bean was blowing bubbles and we have a nice pic of him/her doing it! Didn't find out what it is so it's a surprise for us to.
Hope everyone's well. Have a nice bonfire night. xx

MKG · 05/11/2008 13:38

Fruity-I had a 4d scan with ds2 when I was about 34 weeks pregnant. It was very cool because we saw so much facial detail. The only thing is that the 2d scans are kinda "freeze frame" where 3d/4d are more "in the moment" so a lot of the pictures came out like alien pictures because he was moving so his mouth looked super distorted. I don't care because it was free. Aparently the technician had just gotten the technology to do it, and wanted to practice on me.

Feeling much better today. I think I've just been having stretching pains, increased by the fact that I have been working very hard and been very busy overall.

CaptainKarvol · 05/11/2008 14:11

Haven't been on the thread for ages either, so i've only just caught up - Pumpkinseeds, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope your family are supporting you through this.

I had my 20 week scan last week - DH had to take DS to nursery and then go to work, so I went by myself , but all was fine and I got to see the baby sucking it's thumb and opening and closing it's mouth.

I'm another one having a SURPRISE btw - DH didn't want to find out, and while it was terribly tempting to ask and hug the secret to myself, I never have been able to keep a secret...

corgikelly · 05/11/2008 14:16

I'd mentioned last week that I was going to London to do some pram test driving -- thanks to everyone who suggested places to go!

We ended up at Mamas and Papas, Mothercare and John Lewis (where the assistant was incredibly helpful!). It helped so much to actually get our hands on the prams and fool around with them the end result is that we quickly eliminated two that I thought were top contenders according to our criteria the iCandy Apple and the MaxiCosi Mura.

Here's the rub: now in the lead is the Bugaboo Cameleon. I love it, and it ticks just about every box, but I just can't countenance paying that much for a bloody pram!

There are two other prams that, on paper (or rather, on screen), seem like reasonable alternatives to the Bugaboo -- but I can't find any place that has either available for viewing. Grrrr. I really don't want to get anything I haven't tested, but as I keep looking for a distributor, I wondered: does anyone have any experience with the

Cosatto Mobi
or
I'Coo Targa City

??

I THINK I remember someone on the board getting quite a bargain recently on the Cosatto, but can't remember if it was the voice of experience speaking or not...

I thank you.

EllieorOllie · 05/11/2008 14:46

Had my 20 week scan this morning and the bump is ... BLUE!!

Come on the boys!!

emma2617 · 05/11/2008 14:51

corgi I have recently received my cosatto mobi! Not really a voice of experience though!!

It has a massive carrycot attachement which was a big plus for us so baby can stay init for longer, and use to sleep in on the first few visits to my parents! The attachements are all very easy to click on and off, and it pops itself up at the push of a button (well 2!) It is a bit fiddly to put down thoug, you have to push and turn 2 knobs (one on each side, soyou look like you are hugging the bram from the back!) and then you push a button with your foot and push down on the handles and it folds quite easily!

The back wheels however are quite large, and quite far apart, I think I will be detatching them when ever it goes in the boot...but they are incredibly easy to click on and off!!

I love it though...but I wouldnt say it would be much good for public transport as it is quite bulky, and if you want it in your boot you will need a family hatchback to have any chance of getting your shopping in aswell!!

emma2617 · 05/11/2008 14:52

ellieorollie woohoo...join the blue crew!! We were starting to get out numbered!!

You don't say so...but Im assuming all was okay! Congrats!

Ally90 · 05/11/2008 15:37

Hi all, hope you and your bumps are doing well Just thought I would pop in (I know, ally who???) and update list.

Had 20 wk scan today, all well except baby not playing ball...snuggled down in pelvis, saw a lot of spine and side views so after 2 separate attempts I have another appt to go back next week (shame ) to get good pic of heart and just a good pic of baby! Sex is a GIRL! But ultrasoundest sounded a bit unsure...'and I think your having a girl!' then moved on...and I'm thinking...'she doesn't sound too sure about that...should I dare ask a professional to double check?'.

I'm getting lots of movement now (mostly in pelvis!) and that could explain the SPD symptoms I'm getting and the pelvic girdle problems...getting a referal to a physio soon hopefully. No more MS thank goodness...nice big bump suddenly appeared this week (think it was just flab and wind before ) belly button already feels stretched...is this normal at 20wks 2nd time around? Not sure my tummy can stretch more for another 20 wks...

Off now to look at pretty girl names and bag up all my dd's clothes ready for reuse

Take care all xxx

Mandy73 · 06/11/2008 10:53

Hi there,

Happy to hear scans are going well.

Ally90, same here, my belly button has never been so shallow. .

Seeing consultant for 1st time today. He is a foetal medicine expert so we will come armed with 1000 questions about my dodgy biochemistry (ie freakishly low PAPP-A).

Love to everyone,
xx

ceedub · 06/11/2008 11:28

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd add that when we had our scan the other week, it was a girl! So another one to add to the tally.

Am feeling totally shattered today as I live in Lewes and went to first Lewes Bonfire Night...completely insane, but brilliant - except for the idiot who let off a banger at my feet. was terrified for my little bean (and had been so careful to protect the bump from the worst of the noise too). But she's wriggling around again this morning, so hopefully ok.

suspect that will be the last Lewes Bonfire Night I'll go to for a while - it's definitely not baby-friendly!

Boobz · 06/11/2008 11:43

Ceedub - are you supposed to protect the bump from noise? I've never heard that before? I tend to relax to very loud drum and bass in the evening, or some cheesy trance tunes... am now worried that the wriggling the baby is doing is wriggling saying "no more". And there I was thinking it was dancing away...

A

laweaselmys · 06/11/2008 12:12

Unreasonably loud noise is potentially a bad idea. So depends just how loud you consider very loud to be! I would probably keep doing it but turn it down.

DP has been playing the guitar through headphones attached to the bump so that Jr can get her musical education from an early age and I'm not bothered about this.

Have you seen on the MN 21-24 weeks pregnant newsletter it says that baby is supposed tobe awake six hours a day and sleeping the other 18? She was non stop active all yesterday evening and this morning for much more than six hours... if this really is what she's going to be like when she's born I don't think I'll be getting much sleep.

jollyjoanne · 06/11/2008 12:34

Hi All, I have now added a photo of the bump to my profile - not sure how to do the link thing though.

Ally my belly button is huge (Width rather than depth) and it is normally a tiny slit. I imagine it could pop out quite early on!

Mandy good luck with your appoitment.

Wheelybug · 06/11/2008 15:46

ooh ceedub - I went to school in Lewes (vaguely thinks we've had this convo before). I really miss Lewes bonfire night and it didn 't occur to me what a wierd event it was until I took DH there when we first met. He's refused to go ever since . I did take him to Cliffe bonfire though which may have been asking for trouble. It was the first time I'd been to Cliffe too - used to go to Waterloo. Haven't been since then though and that must have been almost 10 years ago !

Nothiong to report here - scan tomorrow (22 weeks) - am nervous....

Wheelybug · 06/11/2008 15:49

Great bump pictures btw - I'll try and post one tomorrow after my scan - its rather large .

Having said that - I went to my antenatal yoga appt today and there is someone there who is due a couple of days before me. She is worried because her bump is so small and people keep commenting on how small it is. I am worried because mine is so large and people keep commenting on it. Grrrrr people. One lady said to me at dd's ballet class 'ooh you're bump has really grown and changed in the last 2 weeks - you can see you're really retaining water, I can see it in your face too'. Gee thanks. I just said 'that'll be the cake'.

emma2617 · 06/11/2008 15:57

wheelybug how rude!! Well done on the come back though!!

SpookyMadMummy · 06/11/2008 18:47

Hello everyone!!

I had my 20 wk scan today, baby is fine, arms legs etc all present and correct and everything appears normal.

Its a Girl!!! that will be a hat trick for me!!

She was clapping on the screen!! was so lovely to see!!

I need to have a GTT at 28 weeks as my mother is an insulin dependent diabetic and although she was in her mid 50's when she developed it its considered early

I got some good news about my GBS too, if its not diagnosed in this pregnancy then according to local policy I can have a home birth if I want I just have to stay away from vaginal swabs!!

Boobz · 06/11/2008 18:54

21 wk scan today - all good and was lovely to see it moving on the screen when it kicked me from the inside.

We're having a surprise, but my friend who came with me (hubby away on business) said she could definitely see a bollock. I'm not so sure...

Littlemisskiwi · 06/11/2008 21:36

Heya

We Had the 20 week scan last week and baby is doing really well. Growing a bit ahead of itself despite all of my sickness, so the date was put at 5 days ahead although I was told to stick to my date of 15 March.
DH nd I had discussed finding out what flavour but on the day neither of us asked and we were not prompted by the ultarsound lady, so it is still a surprise for us!
Still being sick occassionaly which is a bit miserable but everything else tickety-boo!
My bump is big and someone gave me their seat on the bus yesterday - it brought a tear to my eye!
