Brand new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AmyO · 03/11/2008 14:55

Good that you're feeling better Lollipopz, sounds like you've had a right time of it! Poor you, cystitis is horrible at the best of times.

Forgot to mention that we had 2nd scan on Friday - all good, the scan lady said she was 'very pleased'. We debated finding out the flavour but in the end decided that we wanted a surprise too!

babyinbelly · 03/11/2008 15:05

I can't believe how many people are opting for a surprise. Was sure I'd be feeling jealous that everyone knew and I didn't but loads of us will find out on the day! Yay

Mandy73 · 04/11/2008 10:12

Morning all,
Hope you are well.

Lollipopz you are spot on...

Had anomaly scan yesterday and basically it's all normal looking. Did not find out the sex. But just as we were about to leave the Dr said she wanted a foetal heart expert to do another scan for a second opinion so we sat around waiting for that, bricking it. In the end the heart looks normal so far. Then off to GP - turns out the MW on the phone was right; I have aggressive cystitis which is probably why I had the painful BHs. On antibiotics now. So happy it was spotted & treated as it can be v dangerous for the baby I understand.

Meeting my consultant for the 1st time on Thurs and then additional growth & doppler scan 25 Nov. We know everyone at the hospital now...

Slickbird · 04/11/2008 10:33

Pumpkin - Am so sorry for your loss. Have tears of sympathy streaming down my face, how awful for you. Really hope you continue to get the love and support you deserve, will be thinking of you. xxxx

Kinda seems futile now, but was going to mention what a disaster my rare night out turned into. I went from Edinburgh up to Dundee to go to a gig, a guy called Seth Lakeman, who I have been looking forward to seeing for ages, and last week I had hardly had any sleep, had been working, kids etc etc, had a headache on thursday night and into fri morning, but took paracetamol and hoped it would go. By the time I came back from work, got kids organised for halloween and went to meet husband to drive up (he doesn't drive yet) the headache was getting bad. By the time I got the gig it was ferocious. I had to leave 4 songs in to the act because I nearly passed out with pain) Got back to my brothers who stays near there and the pain kept me awake all night. In the morning, we called the doctor who was out within the hour because he thought my systoms (light aversion, chronic neck pain and head pain etc) could be meningitis (!) but after checking me over well, decided it was a severe migrane and gave me some heavy duty painkillers. I had to stay there til yesterday (DH came down on train on sat) and my bro had to drive me back yesterday and now I'm off work. I've never known such intense pain - the only time I had a migrane before was when I was preg with first DD and it only lasted a day - this has been 4 days now and I still have residual headaches. In fact, I shouldn't be on this, so I'll go. So much for a birthday night out - I am totally jinxed! Hope you're all well

Slickbird · 04/11/2008 10:35

That should say 'symptoms' not systoms!

emma2617 · 04/11/2008 10:52

slickbird I feel youre pain...hope you feel a little better! My first migraine, when I was 15, lasted 5 days and was 3 in a row! I had the aura, light aversion, extreme sickness and numbness of face and arms...scary then...but I cant imagine having one like that while pregnant!!

Mandy glad scan went well...congrats on surviving the wait for the heart specialist, you must have been a bucket of nerves!

MKG · 04/11/2008 12:39

Morning Everyone!

I have been having the worst pain in my pelvis right under my bump, pretty much whenever I move. It makes me want to cry it hurts so bad, but apparently it's just stretching pain.

Also here is something odd. I have like no sex drive, but I've been having the most vivid sexual dreams ever. But the thought of having sex in rl really turns me off now.

18 weeks left, 18 weeks left, 18 weeks left.

Wheelybug · 04/11/2008 14:27

Hello All !

Mandy - glad you've got the pains sorted. Hope the treatment works quickly ! Glad the scan went ok in the end.
And yours too AmyO

Sympathies for the migraine Slickbird - I've suffered with them since I was about 8 or 9 after a serious brain illness thing (that's a technical term you know !). They can be quite rough although touch wood they have got better as an adult.

Sorry about hte pains too MKG - I have trouble with I think probably my round ligament which can get quite sore at times especially after sudden movement. Hope it eases soon.

NOt much to report here - 22 week scan on friday (excited and nervous - probably more nervous at hte moment). Think we will be joining the ranks of surprises. Although given we have suddenly this morning decided on a girl's name and really can't agree on a boy 's name I am quite tempted to find out to see if we need to continue arguing discussions !

Is there anyone here who has had a c-sec and having pants issue ? With dd I wore normal pants throughout but htey were low cut ones so they went under the bump. This time I am trying to do the same but htey end up digging into my c-sec scar. Anyone with any good big pant recommendations ????

dinny · 04/11/2008 14:37

hello, all - not posted on this for ages, hope everyone is well

just had 23-week scan this morning - all seems fine, little one isn't so little, sonographer thinks is going to be big as 98th centile for everything EEK

didn't find out if boy or girl, was tempted though!

MKG - are the pains maybe SPD? apparently you can feel it around the pelvic girdle c often....

wheresmybump · 04/11/2008 15:25

hi ive not posted on here before but im 24 and due on the 23rd. I had my 20wk scan on monday and resisted all temptation to find out the sex because i had a surprise with ds whos now 2 and loved the excitment towards the end.
I still havent got a bump though and just wondered if anyone else was the same???

emma2617 · 04/11/2008 15:41

wheresmybump · 04/11/2008 15:54

Thanks for adding me to the list, glad im not the only one looking like i ate to much at lunch

Boobz · 04/11/2008 16:17

Have just got over the "oo, she looks like she's let herself go" mark and am into bump territory. Have added new picture to profile to illustrate the point.

Only 2 more days till 20 week scan (but will be 21 weeks). Am not going to find out the sex.

Speaking of sex - I've been having similar dreams MKG (but all about women... oo-er!)

emma2617 · 04/11/2008 16:26

boobz that is impressive!! I am so jealous I want a bump!!! Well I was fat to begin with anyway...so i suppose i only have myself to blame!

Because of the way the ladies of my family are built...big hips, small waist, my podgy belly was split in 2 at my belly button!! Although this indent has become less of an indent it is still present...hence just looking fat, as bump is not rounded! I just need baby to push his bum against my belly button to pop it out and then I will be happy with my bump!

My...that was an awfully graphic description of my fat!!! I dont look as bad as I just made it seem, lol!

dinny · 04/11/2008 17:00

God, I have a huge bump - so high already!!!

eek

Boobz · 04/11/2008 17:29

More bump photos please!

dinny · 04/11/2008 17:42

just put one on profile that ds took on friday whilst I was unawares!

can't see it very well, will get dh to take another later when he's home

wheresmybump · 04/11/2008 19:35

Boobz i just looked at your bump pic and have to admit im soooo jealous although happy 4 u

Boobz · 04/11/2008 21:59

Thanks WMP - I'm pretty pleased with it so far too. Of course now I have said that I will fill out like a house by the time my 40 weeks are up. I think the yoga is helping me fill out in the right places..

Finally started feeling the baby wriggle the other day - putting my mind at rest!

corgikelly · 05/11/2008 08:26

Been away for a few days, what with pram shopping and a glorious eating extravaganza in London at the weekend -- and then lost most of yesterday alternately trying to work and biting my nails waiting for news of the US election. Stayed up until 1am waiting for early returns and then woke up again at 4am to start getting the good news!

So much has been going on on the board -- I hope everyone who's feeling poorly, whether hips or head or bladder, is feeling better, and pumpkinseeds, you're in my thoughts. What a nightmare, and I am so glad you're surrounded by support.

Will post separately about prams and dresses...

FruitynNutty · 05/11/2008 08:38

Morning everyone

As usual I haven't posted for ages and ages I'm lurking form time to time though.

My 20 week scan is next Thursday and I can't wait! Well actually I will be almost 22 weeks by then by hey ho.
I'm definately going to be finding out the sex I've also got a 4d scan booked for the 13th December which seems ages away but I'm sure it'll come around soon enough
Has anyone had a 4d scan yet? or have one approaching?

Boobz I'm so impressed with your neat little bump and
My belly seems to expanded so much I can't fit into anything comfortably and I've still got 20 weeks of growing to do

I don't know how anyone can wear their normal jeans under the bump all the way through
I have my normal jeans on with the fly completely undone and I can feel baby kicking the pressure away. They're obviously too tight but they fit everywhere else so I'll be damned if I'm going to succumb to tent like trousers just yet.
Maternity jeans just seem to end up riding down which is very annoying I just cant really sit down in my 'normal' jeans thats all

I hope everyone else is keeping well

Boobz · 05/11/2008 10:24

Hey Fruity -- good to see you back. Which hospital did you decide to go for in the end, with all that homebirth postcode lottery business?

And the bump is only neat now - you wait till I'm heaving something twice the size up the common walking my dog at 36 weeks. Speaking of which - my husband is going skiing 4 weeks before my due date and I can't go with obviously... would you try and make him stay as it's so close to DD or would you think "oh first babies are always late - he'll be back 3 weeks before the due date and it'll all be fine!". I don't want to take his holiday away from him but am a bit miffed I will have to walk the blimmin dog for 2 hours a day for a week at 8.5 months preggers!

laweaselmys · 05/11/2008 11:10

I would probably make noises and complain that I didn't want him to go... know what you mean about not wanting to take his holiday away though. Could he not go earlier?

livismum · 05/11/2008 11:21

um boobz dont want to worry u but my first was exactly 3 weeks early! I would check exactly how long it would take him to get home and make him plan for it 'just in case!' you never know it might be enough to make him think twice about going! always works with my DH making him think its his idea!

babyinbelly · 05/11/2008 11:52

I had the first stranger ask me last week if I was expecting so obviously am starting to look pregnant! Yay.

I will try and get a picture taken tonight and pop one on.

Just when I thought M/S was a thing of the past I had my breakfast this morning and then had to run to the toilet as it promptly made a return appearance. Still feel sick now but am sooo hungry. Might try some boiled eggs for lunch.
